I read an interview somewhere with JK where she says she doesn't read much if any fanfic. So I don't think she decided to end it because of that reason, but most big H/G shippers read fanfic because that's the only place we're going to find more Hinny(?) unless we reread all the sweet moments from the books, which would get old after awhile. Fanfic rules! *raises both hands in celebration of fanfic*

Yeah, I think everything *major* that happens in her books has been planned from the off, so that would include Harry and Ginny's relationship.

I love H/G fanfic, www.phoenixsong.net is a great archive for that - they have a strict validation process so you're guaranteed a well-written fic.

Some of my favourite H/G authors are Melindaleo, StMargarets, Jeconais (hilariously funny)..and lots more on PS.

I wonder if JK has ever been swayed into anything? I wouldn't think so. I've been writing my fanfic *attn: shameless plug*, Harry Potter and the Phoenix Egg, and I know I wouldn't change my story for what someone else wants. I think it's that way with all authors.

I think this is a great ship! Harry and Ginny are the coolest together after Hermione and Ron!

I love Hinny for everything! I just think they look cute together and I'm reminded abt the whole looking-like-his-parents thing. I liked it and wanted it to happen for forever!

I am a total Hinny shipper! If JKR told us, I totally beleive her!

So how long does everyone think it will take before Harry and Ginny get back together in DH? Whilst I want it to be near the start of the book, I have a feeling it'll be near the end, perhaps just before or after the final battle (providing Harry lives) (which he will :D)

I think they'll get back together before the battle and then Harry will die XD

Seriously, I'm not denying they'll get back together but one of them will die so it won't matter anyway

I like this ship in canon, and i think they'll get back together in DH, but i wouldn't go and read H/G in a fanfic.

yeh i think they will get back together it would be nice if one of them didnt die then they could live happly ever after.......
if thats possible with harry cos evan if he survives and kills voldemort he will get mixed up with other dark wizards

I still stick with my Harmony, even though Hinny is going to happen and Harmony won't....

Anyway seriously I don't think there is a happily ever after for them, I think that Harry and the rest of the trio aren't gonna make it through the book... which would kind of sink a lot of ships out there XD

LOL that would really put an end to all the shipping debates. JKRs probably fed up with them by now...

But no...I hope she doesn't kill them off. Hermione's death I could live with, but not Harry, Ron or Ginny. Nope nope.

Although those militant Harmony shippers (not you of course amber), will probably find some way of shipping H/Hr in death...ghost love or something.

*gasp* You could live with Hermione's death but not Ginny's now that's kinda unfair, considering she has been the heroine throught the series and Ginny has just kinda been there recently and not even that much until book 6.

And she can't kill off Hermione!! That's like killing... herself. XD I mean, she based Hermione off herself, kinda... so I don't think she'd kill off the character she's most in touch with.

Hinny probably won't end happily, you're right. Or, at least, there's going to be just enough tragedy within the family and their friends (or even the whole wizarding world) that they won't be able to really love each other in happiness....if that makes sense. :D

Nah...I'm believing in happy ending for Harry. And that means being with Ginny. Just think about how different his attitude in HBP was when he was with Ginny - even he described it as "living someone elses life", someone elses happy life. So yeah...to be happy he needs to be with Ginny.

Agreed agreed agreed! I believe that Harry and Ginny will live happily together, have 12 children, and Harry'll beecome the Minister of Magic!!! The one time Trelawney was right!!! oh well... That's probably just wishful thinking...

Eww, become Minister of Magic? I think Harry would rather barf, no offense. But I TOTALLY support the 12 kids thing, but is it possible? I think 8 kids is much more reasonable xD We're both insane...
I don't know about tradegy, but I believe it's a romance that would go rather far (VERY far). But considering everything that's happening right now in the books and such, someone major is definately going to die. Whether it's Harry's lover, Hermione, Ron, Neville, anyone. I really do hope it will all turn out great, but that's some sort of a delusional thinking. But I agree with the two above. To be happy means to be with Ginny, and less friends of his dying.
Let's wait and see what happens...

i think harry and ginny's just meant to be. and hopefully it WILL happen in DH soon. hopefully not right at the end, cos then its not enough of iT!

well Harry and Ginny will at least see each other at the beinging of the book (bill and fleurs wedding) and I dont think they will not be able to be together then but and even if Harry refuses to let Ginny come with him she will proberly follow him at some point or another. She will also still be in incredible danger becuase everyone at Hogwarts proberly knew about Harry and Ginny right? and with Draco all proberly going to be killed he could tell the Dark Lord about Harry and Ginny as he will be looking for anyway to get to Harrys heart to leure him. But even if its not Draco that tells the Dark Lord he will find out. Im sure Snape would have known though I do think that Snape is good but anyway. I dont think that Ginny will be a good little girl and do as Harry says though if she does she will be there when Harry returns and they can live Happly ever after together XD

I like Ginny, I like her spunkiness and I think Harry really cares for her. I'm sure his feelings will get deeper in Deathly Hallows.

I couldn't be more elated that Harry and Ginny got together! To me they are just perfect for eachother and it doesn't seem like any other girl would be sufficient for Harry......except for me of course!

I love the Hinny pairing. it's adorable and perfect, in my opinion, and i have to say it's my favorite cannon ship.

Perhaps they were slated for each other after all. I don't find it coincidental that both Ginny and Harry's mother both had red hair, and both of them had an inordinate amount of spunk. It just goes to show that Harry was going after that girl who resembled his mother in ways he didn't know, leaving the Freudian complexes out of it.

I love this ship tied with the Ron/Hermione ship the most because these couples are so perfect together.

Aw Rosie! I don't think Ginny's a jerk, I actually really admire her optimism. Yes, Harry can be an arrogant little butt, but I think that he has faced a lot in his life and where that doesn't entitle him to be rude, it does stretch one thin across the edges. Harry and Ginny are perfect for each other because they balance each other out. Where Harry has a tendency towards despairing and losing his temper, Ginny has a great attitude during the times when life gets bad, and she has a temper that won't be pushed back by Harry's, so she won't be a pushover either.

*growls* Grrrrrr, I despise them both with the deepest darkest pit of my heart.....

i HATE this paring 'till the end. it's just so...ugh annoying to read this.

I've always been rooting for Harry and Ginny since the second book. There was a period where I was midly annoyed by this but they're so great together. Ginny's nice and strong for him. I love it. xD
