Yeah Tay won't change. I think once she saw Ron snogging Lavendar like that and Ginny snoggin guys in secluded corridors she got very disgusted. But we all agree, we never really liked Ron.

I see this argument quite a lot, and I also see comments made that Bonnie Wright has quite a young-looking appearance, and it makes me wonder if people are confusing the two?

To me, Ginny grew up in the books just like any other character - this is one of JKR's strengths I think, taking us from 11 year-olds in the first book and progressing their ages, unlike for example, the Famous Five who remained 12, 11 and 10 for about 21 books lol.

Amy I am not confusing Ginny with Bonnie. Its just in my mind, i never thought she grew up. I don't know, maybe its just i didn't get to know her enough, but when she did get a spot light in book 6, it was too much. She seemed to just ahve grown up over night. Where as i can realate to Hermione as I've seen her grow up and she and Harry just fit better together in my minds eye then Harry and Ginny do.

Maybe that's part of the idea? I mean, Harry didn't look at her for the longest time, and since the books are from Harry's point of view, we wouldn't see her unless he saw her. So, it shows Harry how he's missed seeing Ginny and now she's gotten so much older and more mature.

Its not from Harry's point of view though. Its third person, not first, which kind of rules that out. I mean it follows Harry, but you do see everything from 3rd person, so i just think that Ginny really did grow up over one summer, therefore making me not like/ not understand this ship at all.

Yeah I totally agree with you Amber. She never grew up for me either. I didn't see it. In my mind she is about 12. And since I still saw her as 12 when she started snoggin guys, it didn't seem right at all. It led me to think "When did this happen?!?!?!" I must reread the books and study what little we see of her... I don't think I like her very much. She seems so... bleh[/b]

Deffinatly. She just seemed to grow up way faster than the other characters, which didn't allow me to see her true charater. So thats why i think i'm mor prone to Harmione and not Hinny

Hinny... I remember earlier on in the books I barely noticed Ginny. She was never in my mind personally. And when people say its a perfect match I kind of think on it and wonder if Harry really did get to know her. Maybe over the summer...? *sigh* If its going to happen in the books I should try to understand it even though I don't want to... *glares at brothers bedroom* I want him to give me my HP book back so I can reread everything over and study the facts and prove my point on why I don't really like Ginny

Nope never considered Ginny and Harry until the 6th book..and even though sometimes I don't think it matches maybe because we didn't see much of Ginny growing up in the other books...but JK Rowling made them seem very sweet and who's to say JK is wrong? The woman's a genius!

Well, it's unfair to say that they're not true shippers. What if these people only found the books because of HBP and became Harry/Ginny shippers then?

I have been a H/G shipper for ages, so this is not me, but it's unfair to make generalised assumptions.

well i was saying if people read the books the whole time and shipped like Dramione, and then just because it wasnt canon they decided that they would ship Hinny, even if they didn't really like it.........thats not cool

I'm not like that, true, I didn't convert until OotP, when I began reading in between the lines and thinking:

"Hey, Harry and Ginny definitely could work!"

So, although I am discouraged at these late-convertees, at least they've seen the like and arne't the D word! :D I love you Amber

I just don't think Harry/Ginny would work out to well.....I think of it as if Merranda decided to date Kammy......It just wouldn't work out well, esspecailly if they broke up........

Okay, you think Ginny's gonna die, read THIS

Ginny isn't going to die. She survived the Dark Forces, just like Harry did. This shows that she is as strong in that sense as he is. At a young age-11 years old-she managed to separate herself from Tom Riddle's diary, this shows she has a lot of will power.

People say that Harry has a bit of Voldemort in him, well, this is true for Ginny as well. Tom Riddle told Harry that he put "A bit of himself" inside Ginny, this shows how they are alike once more. Only the two of them can understand how this feels. Dumbledore often said that since Harry carries a bit of Volders in him, this makes him dangerous to Voldypoo. Is the same true for Ginny? Remember in Star wars:

Obi-Wan:That boy is our last hope
Yoda: No, there is another.

And Harry saved Ginny in the CoS, that means they share a certain bond. This bond could be possibily what truly brings down the Dark Lord?

In the Mirror of Erised what Harry wants in a family. And he's found that with the Weasleys, or if he hasn't already, he should have. The Weasleys have already accept him, and the next way to officially bring him into the family would be through marrying Ginny.

In the end, the Boy-Who-Lived deserves love, and someone who's loved him and has always loved him.

That someone is Ginny

Also, I think that one near death experience per character is enough - Ginny had hers in CoS, so she's not going to die.

The same goes for Arthur (snake in OotP), Bill (greyback) and any others I have forgotten about lol.

Ginny that just reminded me of how perfect and Mary-Sue like she is, and perfect people just don't make it. AND perfect people shouldn't get the guys

Harry and Ginny...yeah a canon couple..yeah I tolerate them more than R/Hr (i wont even get started on that till i get to that post)

anyway, Hinny is well...decent i suppose though ginny isn't hot or anything. I mean poor Harry has to go with what he can get right? So...yeah...under the circumstances of desperate boys falls for awing fangirl- I can see this ship working from that perspective...

Harry wasn't desparate. He was just finally seeing Ginny in a new light. She wasn't an "awing fan girl" anymore, she grew into her own person.

How funny wouldn't've been for Harry to finally realize he liked Ginny, and then Ginny not like him at all?

I remember Harry bumped into Ginny when he walked out of the common room (he was in his invisibility cloak) and she flipped out on Dean. Seemed kinda mean. But I'm not going to make a case about, because you'll just tell me about how wonferful and kind she usually is. And Harry did not LOVE Ginny if book 2. He cared about her, sure. He worried about her, but he would worry baout nayone that was dying. Its just in his nature. He was young, he didnt think about girls them. He may like Ginny now, but he didn't caqre for her then. Sure I know.. It was a buld up, and the symbolism. Fine. But he still didnt love her then or care fo rher above anyone else.

This is the ONLY canon shipping I can tolerate. Ginny's not that bad, all of us have some type of attitude problem here and there soo... yeah and anyways if i didnt have Harry with Ginny he'd be with Draco hah soo yeah...

A too comfortable ship in my opinion. This ship was doomed to end before it had even begun. A relationship, when too comfortable, too predictable, just doesnt work in the end, and actually bores me that JK played the comfortable path here.

I like Hinny in the books but I dont like it in Fanfiction or anything else.. I dont get into those fanfictions cause It makes me feel like Im walking on JK's territory... Hinnys one of the book ships when I read dramione I know its not going to happen in the books so Its ok to get really into the story.. but when I was into reading hinny fics I got the books and the fics mixed up so badly.. so I had to stop hahaha

I do wonder what JK thinks of fanfics with other ships. maybe she read some of them which is why she decided to end harry and ginnys relationship lol

*is a big hinny fan* ever since i read book 4 i've been a hinny shipper. I love this ship so much. It just seems so right for them to be together

Although JK wrote this pairing well, I personally don't think that it sits well. Im not a harry/hermione shipper or anything, but I agree with what is said above about it being too comfortable to the point that it is too close

Ok, I'm new here so I'll start off with the questions from the first post.

I like this ship, because I never expected it to happen, but to me it makes sense. I don't know about taking the safe route, as I saw earlier, but it just makes sense. I'm a big fan of fanfiction, and their relationship is explored more in those fics.

-How long have you shipped it?

Since I read about it in HBP, I've shipped it ever since.

-Why do you prefer it to any of the other ships?

As I said, it makes sense to me. So does the Ron/Hermione ship. And I like to see Harry really happy with his best mates sister. I just like the ship.



So, does anybody else like fanfics with the H/G ship?
