It's all about me....

I suppose I'll start out with a little introduction about myself....

My name is Pamela. I just turned 24 3 days ago. I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. I lived in Indiana for the better part of the last 18 years of my life.

I work as a guest service agent and part-time night auditor at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chesterton. It's about 10 minutes from my apartment in Valpo. I moved to the area a little over 5 months ago. My roomate wanted to be closer to her family, and as I wanted an excuse to leave the town I was in for the first 5 years of my adult life, I followed. We were a couple at the time, but we broke up about 3 weeks ago. We're okay for the most part. We'd gotten a two bedroom apartment for craft storage and just in case. I'm getting used to it. We were together for about 20 mos, so it's a little rough.

My mother lives in New Zealand. She's an internet dating success story. She married my stepdad and moved there nearly 4 years ago. My sister is another such story. She lives in Alaska with her husband of nearly 2 years. My father lives about 2 hrs away from me, so he's the closest of my immediate family. I miss them all pretty regularly.

I love Harry Potter (clearly), theatre, knitting, and reading books of all kinds. I'm not much of a party person, although I do go out from time to time. I'm usually just content to stay at home with a nice book.

Anyway, that's pretty much the gist of me. Anything else, feel free to ask. I'll answer most likely, unless it's too inappropriate.

The hotel I work at occasionally sees minor celebrities. Some of our past guests have included R.E.O. Speedwagon, LaToya Jackson, and Raven Simone. Last year was pretty exciting. We had Foreigner and Kansas here. This year was great, though...mostly because it was amusing. Any of you have younger siblings who watch the Doodlebops? Well, I can say that Roonie Doodle is actually quite good looking in real life. And he has a potty mouth. We also had Collective Soul, whom I absolutely adore. It was extra cool because I actually got to meet them...and eat their leftover Mexican. Ha ha. They were all really nice guys.

Now, you may think that it's really fabulous to work at a hotel with groups like that. It's not. At best it's amusing and impressive. Usually it's a right pain in the...well it's stressful. We had a very popular reggae band here last night, and it was a nightmare. Nothing could be done wrong; there was just no room for mistakes. And there was a lot of extra stuff to be done for them.

I learned a bit more about Justin's job. I always knew that a cellphone tower tech would be a dangerous job. I had no idea just how dangerous it is. It is actually the most dangerous job in America. And this is the guy who doesn't call me back very often. What is he thinking?! I practically want him to call me every day now.

I went grocery shopping today. Spent twice my budget, but that's okay because I had originally budgeted what I ended up spending. This way I've got stuff to last me for a long time. I think I'm the only person I know who would buy stuff to make deep fried basa fish with rice pilaf and stuff to make fish sticks with Kraft mac n cheese in the same trip. I also bought pre-made tuna salad from a can along with sushi. I am a strange one. I found it pretty amusing because if you had looked in my cart you probably would have thought there was no way this could all be for one person. Not because of the amount of food, but because of the dramatic differences in the foods I got. Going as healthy as whole grain breads to as unhealthy as smoked sausage. I have a skillet dish I make with smoked sausage, cabbage, and fried potatoes. Very yummy and very bad for me. Ha ha.

I think my weight loss has finally reached a stopping point. I am glad for that. I was beginning to think I would just keep losing weight until I was unhealthy. In the end I lost 42 lbs. My goal was 30, but I was hoping to lose more like 35-45. The best bit is, I didn't lose too much of my curviness. Is that a word? The downside is that a lot of people are annoyed with me. Why do women do that? We should be applauding the things that our friends do that are good for themselves. We shouldn't be saying, "I hate you. How did you lose so much weight?" When I was heavier (I was never actually fat, but I was technically overweight by about 25 lbs or so) I didn't do that. Don't get me wrong, I understand the concept of envy, but I don't see why people can't be big enough to let go of it. Ah well, others are jealous and I'm judgemental. I guess we all have our faults.

Yes, I am judgemental. I'm well aware of that fact and am perfectly capable of admitting it. I think most people are judgemental. It's in our natures. We can over come it to some degree, but by nature we observe things then draw our own conclusions. I'm too tired for a soapbox at this moment, though.

I went to church last week. I wanted to go today, but after work I was just to wiped. I don't want to go if I'm going to be unable to concentrate on what's being said. I'll probably just go to the Bible study on Wednesday...even though I don't actually have a Bible.

I have the next three days off. It's going to be so weird. I didn't even request it. Holly just did it for some reason that is not clear to me. It must have been because of the large number of requests and the fact that Holly was on vacation. Usually it works out badly for me when there are those sorts of schedule complications. I'm not complaining this time, though. That's for certain.

Wow...it's been a bazillion years since my last post. So much has happened, but there's been so much that I've just been too distracted (almost typed destructed *facepalm*) to really talk. Odd no? By the way, this post will likely be my most erratic and crazy ever. Just thought I'd offer the warning. So the various happenings...

My sister moved here. She's been here for a month now. It's working out surprisingly well. We didn't really get along when we were kids. It feels a bit odd to be getting on with her so well now. She's pretty awesome. She's introduced me to some kick-butt bands/artists. Assemblage-23, Covenent, Within Temptation, VNV Nation...just to name a few.

She plays Dungeons and Dragons (as well as other similar games). Shortly after she arrived, she posted an advert in a comic book/gaming store to find a gaming group. She got a call in two days. The guys (and one girl, though I refer to her as one of the guys) are really great. Chris is the DM. Then there is Holly, who is his wife. Guy, is the one I haven't met yet. Matt is my favorite of the gaming group. He is really nice. I got to hang out with the group minus Guy the other day. We watched the bulk of Claymore. If you're not familiar with it, that's a really great anime. I didn't think I'd ever get into anime, but I love the stuff. Who knew.

There's something I'm very excited about, and I'm trying to get the progression correct. Okay...chronological order continuing.

Chris invited us to his uncle's house for his annual pumpkin slashing tradition. They all get together, buy a bunch of pumpkins and cut them up with swords. Completely stupid, utterly wasteful, and unbelieveably fun! So, also invited to this event was Mike. He happens to be the guy that Jamie replaced in the group. He's very nice, quite funny, and rather cute. We hit it off very well. He was totally flirting with me, and I was flirting right back. However, it took him a while to figure out that I was flirting with him because I was interested in him rather than because I joke around that way. When he finally realized it, he stopped. But it was very clear he was interested in me. As it turns out, he just got shy. So after my sister and I left, Matt and Chris called him out on the fact that he liked me. "You SO liked her!" were apparently their words. They gossip like women I guess.

Meanwhile, at home, my sister began to pester me about whether I was going to pursue him. I was hesitant. I didn't want to be Yoko (look it up younguns). But, he seemed to be so perfect for me. Well, Jamie and Chris didn't give me the chance to decide. They gave him my number. He couldn't call me, though, because I didn't have any minutes on my cell phone. When I saw Chris next, I got Mike's number. This occurred Thursday. I called him that evening, and asked him out. I was surprisingly smooth and poised. Anyway, we went out last night to dinner and a movie. I mistakenly took him to a chick flick. I'd for some reason thought that it was an action film, not the latest Nicholas Sparks film. Oops. Afterward I told him he could laugh at me for crying...I owed him after all. I also told him that he was not under any circumstances allowed to tell any of the guys. He said he wouldnt...because he'd have to admit to having watched the movie.

Anyway, we had a great time. He is so sweet. He actually held doors and walked me to mine afterward. It was wonderful. In case you're wondering, Justin turned out to be a jerk. I won't really get into it, because I don't want to dwell, but he was a word that's completely inappropriate for a site like this. Well, that's about it. Toodles.

Yep, indeed long time since you last posted anything here - hey, that Mike guy sounds really cool, I wish you good luck with him! :D Ohh and ... anime are schmawsome, I'm happy you realised that *g* - and the people watching anime are also a funny crowd

Say, you guys in the USA also have to pay when you are *called*, right? ... seems strange to me, since you only have to pay when you are the one who's calling over here (or else, if you're called while you're abroad) :/

Some wireless plans have a feature where if you receive a call or text message you don't have to pay. That's the way it should be if you ask me. I have a prepaid cell phone as opposed to a contract, so I get ripped off. I get charged as much as $.30 if I check my voicemail. The cool thing is that most calls to and from other prepaid customers (not just with my service provider, but others as well) are free.

Mike really does seem great. He's so ideal, that sometimes I wonder if I just willed him into existence. Obviously that's silly, but it's just the way it seems. How else could I have possibly found the precise person I've been looking for so long? I've been saying for months that I just wish I could meet someone who wanted to do it the old fashioned way. I wanted someone who would pick me up at my door, take me to dinner, and walk me to my door when we get back to my place. I really thought that person didn't exist anymore. Then finally, when I'd given up completely and was ready to settle for whatever I could get, he popped out of thin air.

I just hope I don't screw this one up, too, like I have so many other relationships. Otherwise, whoever is in charge of people meeting may well decide that I'm not allowed to have love anymore. The scary bit is, though, he's so new to everything in this arena. I do mean everything. He already referred to me as his girlfriend. We've known one another for a week. That's crazy! And yet, part of me thinks it's not so crazy. I really like him. I love spending time with him. The people I recently found myself interested in no longer appeal. They'd just be the exact same sort of people I've dated all through the past year. I can't imagine myself wanting to spend that sort of time with anyone else at the moment. Anyway, I suppose I'll just keep going the way we are. If it's a bad idea to allow that particular label to be assigned to our relationship, then I'll just have to deal with it.

Okay, so I just watched the final trailer for Twilight. If the entire movie is as...intense as that trailer, I don't know if I'll be able to walk afterward. I actually found myself biting my thumb watching it. As I'm at work, I didn't want to utter an audible reaction to it. Perhaps I shouldn't invite Mike to come along with me. Although, it might help him understand me a bit better. Hmm...

Oy. There is some guy in my lobby fighting with his girlfriend on the cell phone. Grr. I get really frustrated when people do have that sort of conversation in public. Seriously, step outside for a bit or something. I don't need to hear that. Maybe I'm just to crabby.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people don't know basic geography. For example, I frequently have guests call and ask whether they should go east or west on the toll road to get to the hotel from the airport. The airport is in Illinois, we're in Indiana. It would be odd if they were travelling from out of the country, but some of these people are actually from Indiana. They should know that Indiana is east of Illinois. Another of my favorites is this one.

"Do I need to head north or south to get to Lake Michigan?" Well, the only thing north of Lake Michigan is bloody Canada and a bit of Michigan. Again, I suppose it would be one thing if you were from another country or even another state. But, if you're from Indiana, think a moment and you'll answer you're own question. What kills me is that everyone at work just looks at me as if these are perfectly logical questions. I told Mike this and he was pretty much saying my internal-turned-external exclamations with me.

Finally, I have someone who realizes just how silly these questions are. They stem from people just not thinking. I'm sure most of these people (at least I hope most of these people) would know the answer to their own questions if they stopped for a moment. Of course the best question ever...and we all get this one once in a while...is "excuse me, do you know where the restroom is?" Nope, we've only worked at this location for 2-7 years. We have to get a map everytime we want to go. Naturally we don't get that smart, although it is a temptation at times.

Hopefully, I don't seem like a complete jerk right now. Perhaps I am a jerk, who knows. It just frustrates me when I have to put a person on hold to answer one of those calls. Meh. My song is on now. I'm going to go melt for a bit. Toodles.

Okay. It's been a bit since my last update. Things have been a bit crazy during the past few months. Much of it has not been good, but that's life I suppose. I have some pretty big news. I have mixed feelings about it, but for the most part I am happy. It would appear that I'm going to be having a baby in about 8 months or so. I haven't had the actual due date determined yet. I need to set up my appointments. Yeah. I'm pregnant. It's not quite the timing I'd have liked, but that's okay. I think. Like I said...mixed feelings. More updates to over the next several months. *gulp*

I'm back!! Where did you go, you ask? I've seen you around; you've not been gone. Ah, but I have. Some of you may have noticed I've not been myself of late. Well, guess what! The real Pamela, the one who was around for so short a time, is back and in full force. Remember the girl who participated in classes, challenges, events, etc? The one who worked to get to 4th year as fast as possible just so she could do all the exams? She's back. It may take her a bit to get back into the swing of things, but she's back.

I guess I should explain. My financial situation has been bad. When I say bad, I mean I was barely keeping a roof over my head. I was eating only precisely what I needed to stay at the bottom of my healthy weight (after I got pregnant it changed to enough to make sure baby thrived). It was scary, but I have made it out. I hit rock bottom the other day. My boyfriend didn't know how bad off I was, but when he did he came up with a solution. He decided we would ask his parents for a loan to cover what I owed in rent, and I'd move in with them until I could get back on my feet the rest of the way. We talked to them today. They didn't want to loan the amount we asked for. They wanted to loan three times the amount so I could be back on my feet in one fell swoop. Essentially, I consolidated my debt, but it's interest-free. Once my man gets a job, we'll start pulling ahead, something I've not done in close to two years! I can't wait to bring in the rent on Monday. The leasing manager's face is going to be priceless. I'll probably cry, but for the first time in a long time those tears will be 100% untainted happiness.

The way the financial situation was, I didn't have motivation for much of anything. I was just far too depressed. Now it's a completely different story. I'm looking forward to finding joy in things again. Anyway, I guess that's pretty much it. I look forward to earning bunches of housepoints for Gryffindor. It'll feel very nice to feel like I'm doing something again. Well, ta-ta for now.

I can say this here because I don't have anyone here who will tell me this is a horrible idea, and I'm stupid for doing it.

My husband (oh yeah... we got married Sept 18) and I are trying to have our second baby. We may already be pregnant. One way or another I should find out within the next three or four days. We're both hoping for a girl, so I'm sure we'll have twin boys. If we have a girl the middle name will be Jane (my middle name, like Thomas has his dad's).

Wish us luck. If I'm pregnant now, my due date will be the 11th of June. Woo hoo! Much love!!

I don't think I'm pregnant. Now I'm just waiting to be able to start trying to give Thomas a little brother/sister.

I'm currently at work. I do not like the overnight shift. At least my husband has stayed online so far. He's going to regret having stayed up so late when I need to sleep tomorrow.

Fall is definitely here. The fireplace is on at work. I get to wear my favorite jacket. The downside is that I've been sick for the past week. I'm mostly well now. I hope I stay that way.

Now that my husband has said goodnight, and I don't have to worry about missing him, I'm going to go make myself some food. I think I'm probably starving to death.

We decided to put having another baby on hold indefinitely. We entered some relationship issues. Things are fine now, but my husband is hesitant to have a baby at this point. We'll see how things go. Hopefully we'll try again in a couple more months.

Thank you for the encouragement, Stephy. I think we'll do okay. One thing I've realized is that we're not very well matched, but there's a lot of love there. I think that can be enough in our case. We're both very stubborn.

Thomas is growing so fast. He really amazes me. He is so funny. He's done this for months, but I still love it. It's our thing. I try to get him to say "momma" and he'll say "da-da?" To which I'll reply "no, momma." "Da-da?" And so on. He says momma from time to time, but usually he does that game. He loves his shoes. They're his favorite toy. He carries them all over the apartment, and he usually even wants to go to bed with them. Silly little bear.

Woo hoo! I'm knocked up again. Round two here we come. We're hoping for a girl this time around. I am so excited!!

I forgot to mention that the due date is September 4 of next year. Thomas will be just past his 2nd birthday when Baby 2 is born. My hormone levels are really high, so I'm beginning to wonder if I'm having twins. I guess we'll know in a few weeks.

I have so much to do in the next few days, I'm not sure how I'm going to get it all done. Totally worth it, though.

I am so tired right now. I don't want to go to bed, though. My husband is out with a couple friends, and I still hate going to bed without him. Also, he's supposed to bring back a hamburger for me.

It is so hard for me to wait to tell family and most of my friends about the pregnancy. I shouldn't have even said anything on here, but I have to get it out somehow. By the way, if any of my Facebook friends read the announcement here, please don't mention it there. I'd feel really guilty if my parents/parents-in-law found out online, second hand from someone they don't know.

So far there are no significant pregnancy signs (other than the obvious). I'm not really more fatigued than usual. No morning sickness (I hope I am lucky enough to get another reprieve there). On a completely unrelated note, I told my husband the other day that I love him more than all the parenthetical statements in the world (can you see why that works so well?).

Remember when I said with any luck I'd be pregnant. At the time, I had a strong feeling, but I wasn't quite able to find out yet. Given the way the results looked, though, I have a feeling I could have known that early. I was very pregnant.

The reason we want to wait is because our last pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. More recently my aunt, manager, and co-worker all lost babies of varying stages. The co-worker was far enough along that she had to deliver the baby. Telling everyone, then having to tell them all that I lost the baby is just to painful, especially early on. I have a good feeling about this pregnancy, though. I remember my first positive test story.

I'd only known my now husband for a month and a half. I had some pretty tell-tale signs, so we bought a test. For whatever reason I didn't want him in the bathroom with me at the time. I took the test and set it on the tub, to my left. I waited for a bit, then wondered how long the result would take to show. As I was reading the directions I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye. It was a faint line. I thought, "positive. Faint. What does that mean? Faint still means positive. S***! Positive. He's on the other side of the door. Waiting. I can't talk. Okay. Open the door. Flush first. Wash hands." I then opened the door and held out the test and directions. There was a nice long pause before he asked, "so when do we find out?" He doesn't understand. Okay. Have to talk. Words. "P-positive. P-pregnant." There was a lot of crying and terror involved. Again, I'd only known him six weeks.

When Thomas was six months old, I got a positive test. That time my reaction was even worse. My words were "oh God, no." I never completely got over the guilt from losing that baby.

This time, I took the test and the first line turned pink before the stream made it all the way across! It was a BIIIIIGG fat positive. I burst open the door and said "[husband, husband, husband!]" "What?" Again I held out the test for him with a ginormous smile. He looked at it. "We did it?" Then we hugged and laughed and kissed. Thomas was in his high chair laughing his cute little baby head off because Mommy and Daddy were so happy and silly. All day I've been smiling.

That's one thing I'm not looking forward to. Once a month doctor's visits for the first 32 weeks, twice a month for the next four, then every week until he/she shows up. I hate doctors, although I got to be okay with them after awhile. I hope I'm able to get the same doctor this time around. It depends on availability and my new insurance.

Today I went through all of Thomas's old clothes. I have enough neutral clothes in sizes newborn to 3-6 months that I won't have to buy any every day clothes until Baby 2 is about five or six months old. If we have a boy I won't have to buy any every day baby clothes and few dressy clothes if any. That gives us a huge break in the Baby 2 budget. I kept out the neutral and bedtime clothes and put them in a spare drawer. The rest I took the time to box based on size then labeled the boxes with how items many of each size neutral and non-neutral were in each box. I know I'm jumping the gun a lot, but I thought it would ease my worries about how much a new baby will cost. I figure if, God forbid, something happens and the pregnancy ends in a miscarriage (God I pray not), I'll at least have them all organized and ready for the next attempt.

I dealt with some nausea yesterday, but at least I'm not getting six. I have a bad feeling I won't be getting a reprieve this time around from morning sickness. Ah well. Maybe I'll be lucky and get a reprieve from some of the symptoms I had last time, especially heartburn. Man was that epic!

We've not yet decided when we're telling our immediate families. I initially wanted to wait until 12 months, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to do that. First of all, my grandma will not be happy if I wait. In fact, she won't likely be happy if I wait until I'm six weeks along. Secondly, it seems right to tell them a little earlier than that. We wanted to find Thomas a future big brother shirt to wear to family dinner and for a picture to send to my parents. Unfortunately, all the ones we've found are too big. Maybe we'll make a card "from him" to give to my in-laws and an online one to send to my parents. That sounds good.

Thomas is going through a difficult phase right now. He wants us to constantly let him have free reign of the house. The problem with that is, sometimes we want to not run all over the house or need to do something other than follow him around. He gets very angry if he's put in his play pen. I don't blame him, but it's not like he's in there all day or anything like that.

I got my first raise in two years. I'm accustomed to getting one every year, so that's been difficult to deal with. I think I was the only one in my department to get one. I know that not everyone did. It was purely merit based, and I think that's plain awesome. Not much else right now to report. Laters.

Oh no. I am in deep trouble. The smell of bacon cooking is gross. What if I'm developing an aversion? I can't have an aversion to bacon. I might die. Seriously, though, it's a brand new package, and it smells rancid to me. I may cry. Yesterday I used bacon fat to make scrambled eggs, and it smelled and tasted off. I thought it was just getting old, but now I'm not sure. Bacon is one of my favorite foods in the whole world!

I've somehow managed to keep the secret to myself for the most part. I told my direct supervisor at work, just because I thought I was developing morning sickness, and I wanted to give her a heads-up. I've managed to keep myself from telling my family and non-online friends. It helps that I'm terrified of what they'll all say. My financial situation is not the best. My husband doesn't have a job, and it's very difficult for me to make ends meet. I know it's not wise to have another child, but this is what we both wanted. Anyway, I keep having bad dreams that people yell at me or they stop talking to me when I tell them. I wish I could get myself to do what one of my co-workers did. She didn't tell anyone at work until she was five months along. Five weeks is hard enough, though. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Thanks for the encouragement Vi. I don't really think anyone would be jerks about it, but it's still a fear. And there is one who probably would be a jerk, but she thinks that I'm unhappy in my marriage and is very opinionated. She would mean anything she said or implied in love.

My parents and grandma were okay. Quite happy, in fact. I know management will be annoyed at least due to the fact that they'll need to get someone in part time to cover me or be short-staffed for awhile. That's not my problem, though. They can't fire me because of pregnancy, and they won't do anything like that anyway. If they're grumpy, I'll deal with it.

I think my husband told his family the good news today. He's not online, so I can't ask. Well, he is, but he's probably playing Mass Effect. He generally ignores messages in that case. On second thoughts, maybe he's in the bath. I just tried to call him with another question.

The fatigue right now is really kicking my butt. I hate that I always feel so bloody tired. The good news is that I don't have any other symptoms yet. Knock wood. I didn't have many early ones with Thomas, so I wouldn't be surprised if I had a similar situation. I also wouldn't be surprised if I start getting every symptom in the book tomorrow.

This weekend I'll be going with my father-in-law to Terre Haute, IN for a racquetball tournament. That's where I moved up here from. I may try to pay a visit to my grandma somehow. Who knows, maybe she'll be able to come to me. She's about an hour north of TH, and I probably won't have a car. I'll be here until midnight tonight. We've got some fairly rough weather. Hopefully, it'll be driveable by the time I have to go. Looks like we've got another walk-in. A lot of people are giving up. Later.

Darn it. I forgot to take my vitamin today. I had my WIC appointment today. It was originally for Friday morning at 8:30, but I called today in the hopes that someone had cancelled. Someone had! How convenient!!

I've been eating pretty well lately. Fruits and veggies instead of pretzels and candy. I've not had a Pepsi since New Year's Eve. I've had a couple glasses of unsweetened iced tea here and there. I've not gained yet, which makes me happy since I gained a whopping 57 lbs last time. I need only gain 15-25 this time, since I'm already a little overweight. I really need to start exercising, though.

I'm feeling great for the most part! Hope that continues.

Yep. "Morning" sickness is epic! I think I may be dying to death. I don't know how I'm going to deal with this for two more months. Totally worth it, though.

I had my first appointment with my new doctor today. I think I made a good choice. I was so nervous. I'll be going in Friday for an ultrasound. I'm hoping everything goes well with that. I'll be so glad when I'm out of the first trimester.

I'm so exhausted right now. I was scheduled to work until 2 AM. I'm way too pregnant to stay up this late. Hopefully I make it home without driving off the road.
