I suppose I'll start out with a little introduction about myself....

My name is Pamela. I just turned 24 3 days ago. I was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. I lived in Indiana for the better part of the last 18 years of my life.

I work as a guest service agent and part-time night auditor at the Hilton Garden Inn in Chesterton. It's about 10 minutes from my apartment in Valpo. I moved to the area a little over 5 months ago. My roomate wanted to be closer to her family, and as I wanted an excuse to leave the town I was in for the first 5 years of my adult life, I followed. We were a couple at the time, but we broke up about 3 weeks ago. We're okay for the most part. We'd gotten a two bedroom apartment for craft storage and just in case. I'm getting used to it. We were together for about 20 mos, so it's a little rough.

My mother lives in New Zealand. She's an internet dating success story. She married my stepdad and moved there nearly 4 years ago. My sister is another such story. She lives in Alaska with her husband of nearly 2 years. My father lives about 2 hrs away from me, so he's the closest of my immediate family. I miss them all pretty regularly.

I love Harry Potter (clearly), theatre, knitting, and reading books of all kinds. I'm not much of a party person, although I do go out from time to time. I'm usually just content to stay at home with a nice book.

Anyway, that's pretty much the gist of me. Anything else, feel free to ask. I'll answer most likely, unless it's too inappropriate.

I'm still at work. I can't get ahold of Nikki. I've got the key, though. I'm sure her mom will have something to say about the fact that I couldn't get a ride on christmas. I guess it's news to her that most people spend the day with their families. I shouldn't be jumping to conclusions, but that's the sort of attitude she's been taking with everything lately. I am hoping she doesn't want to come to our apartment, because it's a mess. I haven't been able to keep up with Nikki. She's been throwing all her stuff everywhere. It's insane. I just don't want to deal with being made to feel like I'm to blame.

My co-worker, Amy made us dinner. It was really good, but now I'm sick. I wonder what might have disagreed with my stomach. Ah well. I'm so sleepy. Neither Nikki nor I got nearly enough sleep last night. At least we got to have a semi-normal christmas morning. It was my first time opening presents on Christmas since '04.

Another day. My co-worker, Amy, burnt her eye with a curling iron, so she's now in the ER. Therefore, I'm here by myself for now. It's no big deal, of course. We really didn't need two people anyway. Well, it would have been nice, but not absolutely necessary.

Nikki ended up spending the night at her parent's house yesterday. I guess they got back at about 12:30, and she didn't feel up to the 40 minute drive back to the apartment. She's going to a movie tonight at 10, so I'm sure she won't be back tonight either. Ah well.

We just had a huge family with lots of loud kids. Oh the complaints we're going to get tonight. Don't get me wrong, I love kids. I just wish that more parents still taught them manners.

My paycheck should be nice and big this time around. The first night I worked 9.25 hours at 9/hr because it was night shift. Yesterday I worked the same amount of time, but I'll be getting time and a half. 12/hr for holiday pay. Woo hoo! Today I was supposed to work 5 hours but it looks like it's going to be 8.5, instead. Yay for that. Anyway, I'm off to go play some games or something. Ta.

Yeah she burned her cornea, and now she has to get clearance from an eye doctor to go back to work.

Grr....there are fights and grumpiness erupting in darn-near every room. I keep trying to move along to something other than that, but it just keeps re-occuring. It's so frustrating. Maybe I should take a hiatus from the games room or something. It's just not fun right now.

Well, at least the games room problem should be fixed now. Yay for that. I just hope that I haven't done any damage to potential friendships within the forums.

Anyway, Amy's back to work today. The burn wasn't very deep so they have her doing steroids and antibiotics. She shouldn't have a scar and doesn't need to wear an eyepatch or anything.

I'm trying to decide wheter I want to go to the Christmas party for work. I'm thinking it may just be too crowded for my taste. I need to decide soon. Like tonight.

Anyway, I think I am going to get started on goodbye calls. Loverly. Ta for now.

I'm so frustrated right now. Nikki has stayed away from the apartment 3 nights now. Each of those nights she said she would be coming home late and never called to say otherwise. Am I over-reacting or is that as inconsiderate as I feel it is? I would tell her if I wasn't going to be coming home on a given night. Ah well.

I'm doing goodbye calls right now. Great fun. No one ever answers their phones either. About 90% of the calls we do on a given evening are done in the form of voicemails. To make matters worse, for some reason people just can't seem to read the instructions that are right by their phone to check the voicemail.

I'm really in a complaining mood tonight. Sorry about that fact. Maybe later I'll have something less infused with grumpiness to post.

Well, I'm off in about 25 minutes. I won't be back until tomorrow for the night shift. Two nights of that, two nights off, and then I will be coming in Friday morning. We have CPR training Friday, so that should be interesting. It's kind of cool that they require us to do it. I think it's wise to have front desk staff who are trained in that. I don't think anyone has ever had to use the training here, but better safe than sorry.

So last night Nikki's friend, Adam, got 4 free 9th row tickets to the Styx concert. He was supposed to drive the van for the crew, so they were given to him as a thank you. He brought his friend, Jessica, as well as Nikki and myself. Nikki and Jessica both have liked Styx since they were in the womb. The concert was amazing.

Afterward we went backstage to wait for the band and crew to be ready to head out. While back there, James Young was doing his meet and greet. After all the fans were gone, he was introduced to Adam and the three of us. He gave us each guitar picks. We then waited a little longer right outside of Tommy Shaw's dressing room. When everyone was set, we got into the elevator. Already in there was Chuck, the original bassist. He was there to do some songs with the band as a surprise appearance. The drummer followed us in. As the doors were closing, the keyboardist squeezed in.

Meanwhile, Jessica and Nikki were struggling to keep from fainting (any silly behavior would have been a risk to Adam's job). The other two members started picking on the keyboardist. He was wearing all black except his tie, which was bright green. They said that he looked like an undertaker. He turned to Nikki, looked her dead in the eye, and asked, "Do you think I look like an undertaker?" Her reply was, "er, um, yes?" This was said with a goofy giggle. He turned to Jessica, and she couldn't even say anything. I looked at both of them, and then at him and said, "The tie brings in color, so it's okay." Afterward they were grateful for my save. It was shocking that the shy one of the bunch became the witty one. Thank heavens I can keep my cool around celebrities.

They came to after we got back in the car and started screaming. Nikki was going on about it the whole ride home, after we dropped the crew off at their airport hotel. It was probably one of the most amazing nights of my life.

I watched the ball drop in the lobby at work. A whole bunch of guests came down and joined us. They had some acohol and offered me a shot, but I declined. I probably would have been forgiven, but I don't like jello shots. I'm glad they're down here, because they were fairly loud and still are. I gave them the remainder of my chips and queso and they, in turn, shared their snacks with me. I'm glad it was a good new years eve.

Poor Nikki's sick with strep throat. Yucky. Here mom's probably going back to the hospital sometime tomorrow. It's gotten to the point where I barely worry anymore. She's been in the hospital about 7 times in the past year. I still worry a bit, though. I'm always afraid that it will be the last time she goes in.

Anyway, I had an intake appointment today for counseling. Yep, I'm going to the crazy people doctor now. Seriously, though, I think it's about time I went ahead and did it. I've been needing to for a while now. I have my first actual appointment on the 15th. I'll have to pull $50 out of thin air, but I'm sure I'll manage it. Somehow.

We did CPR training at work Thursday. That was lovely. I left rather winded with a headache, but I'm certified. I can save people's lives now. Let's just pray I never need to use my training.

Tonight was the work Christmas party, but I didn't make it. Our best server, Rachele got employee of the year. It was well-deserved. Hopefully next year I'll get to go. I hear it's usually rather fun. Well, I'm starving, so I'm going to go make me a sangwich. Ta.

I was quite appalled to find out that mugglenet was hacked into. I'm glad they got it back up and running, though. Why would someone do that? Seriously. The people who run the site are a great bunch of people, and I think it's about the most ridiculous site to do that to. Why can't someone hack into that site that counts how long Matthew Sheppard has been in hell? Or some other hateful site of that type.

I think we should stalk them as I stated in my diary! hehehehehe!

btw...where were we able to nominate people...I've been curious about how the whole studen of the month/prefect thing works out!

Well....I just got asked out by a guest. He's cute and all, but not quite my type. It was flattering, though. It's against the rules, anyway. It would be highly frowned upon if I went out with a guest. I felt like I was turning beat red; I'm glad he asked over the phone instead of in person. It did do wonders for my self-esteem, because I feel like I look terrible. My hair needs cut, I have 2 inch roots showing, I'm not wearing any make-up, and when I smile you can see that I'm missing half a front tooth.

Anyway, I'm having a lot of fun with holiday quidditch. I did a rather amusing play. One I don't think I've ever seen done by a seeker. It wouldn't be very advisable, though. I wouldn't have done it in a more serious match.

I'm 9 posts away from becoming a fourth year. I'm very excited about that. I get to do my animagus training. The apparition lessons are rather difficult. Well, the first part is, at least. There's one question I may have to get help with. I'm not sure I understand it.

I finally got the living area of my apartment picked up. It was much needed, too. I was beginning to get depressed. As soon as I got the kitchen cleaned, I perked up.

Here we go. Another day. I'm trying to get up the nerve to ask someone out. It's tough, though. I don't know why I don't ever get asked out by people I want to go out with. It would be so much easier that way.

I finished a fic for the Reflections of a Death Eater challenge. I'm pretty happy with it.

Nikki's doing a little better. She is no longer contagious, at least. That's a good thing. Hopefully I'll be in the clear. We're going to go to Wal-mart tonight to cash my check and maybe do some grocery shopping. Great fun.

Well, I have surprisingly little to update given my long absense. Maybe I'll have something later. Hopefully it will be about my upcoming date if I ever grow a backbone.

Well, I've got a date sometime this week. We haven't worked the details out completely, but we'll probably go see Sweeny Todd. I can't wait. It's my first date with someone other than my ex in over two years. Yikes. I'll keep you all updated.

Tomorrow would have been my 2nd anniversary. Instead of a dinner out or a movie, I'll be spending it cleaning and doing laundry. In general, I'll be looking for ways to keep myself as busy as possible.

I need to remember to register to vote. Last election, I didn't realize that there was a deadline to register by, so I didn't get it taken care of in time. I think I'll be able to get it done in time this year. I hope.

Everything's all done at work and ready to go for the next person. Well, all but my drawer, but that has to wait a little while longer. Getta take another cab home tonight. Yay for that. Ta!

You know, it's odd. In high school, I never did my homework on time. I've been on this site for a little over two months and already I've done 45 classes and challenges. I showed my roommate an assignment that I wanted to do that I thought she'd find interesting. She read through it, shrugged, and passed it back to me. I said I thought she'd be more interested in it than that, to which she replied, "It's interesting, but it's still homework."

lol about the roomate thing! I usually do my homework on time unless I forget or get distracted by this site or sims 2! hehehe!

I had my date last night. I think it went really well. I hope. Either that or I'm delusional and stand no chance. One or the other.

In other news, I finally did it. I bought Twilight. I was just going crazy not knowing what all the talk was about. My roommate will be the one who loves the series. It's a teen oriented dark romance about vampires. In other words, her ideal book. I'll probably like it. Either that or I will have to pinch everyone who has recommended the series. Haha.

I LOVE TWILIGHT!! you will not be disappointed! i'm trying to get my mom to read it but she keeps saying no! if you don't like it I'll just have to pinch you for not liking it! I'm lending it to all my best friends making them read it! hehehehe!

It's weird because we work together. I'm so nervous everytime we're around one another. I've actually got hives.

Well, I don't need to pinch anyone. Cassie doesn't need to pinch me. I'm halfway through Twilight and am LOVING it!!! There's only one other book that I have ever been so incapable of putting down and that was Deathly Hallows. I got sucked in! At this rate, I'll have it done by the end of the day, and I can't start the next one for quite some time.

YAY! *huggles* glad you love it! It was the same withh me about the not being able to put it down! It rocks! Don't worry about stsarting the next one because I thought it was very disappointing compared to the 1st one!

Nikki's mom's health has taken a significantly bad turn. This happens fairly often, but I'm unable to shake the bad feeling I have. I don't work tomorrow, and if I get a call that something went very wrong, I may not be able to be back for a few days. I just wanted to make sure at least one person could know, so it wasn't like I just disappeared without saying anything. Especially since I've actually got things on this site that I view as important comittments, i.e. the end of year showdown between the order and the death eaters.

Please, though, if any of you have anything you do like praying, lighting a candle, sending positive energy, etc., it would be greatly appreciated if these efforts could be put forth for her mom, Darla. She's a very kind, special person, and I just want her to be well....somehow. It's killing me that she's going through this. I keep getting this fear that at any moment I'm going to get a call that she's gone, for good. I'm sorry to put this much emotion out, but I need some sort of release. I don't want to be alone tonight, but I have no choice. The joys of being a grown-up.....

Nikki's mom is not doing any better. If anything she's gotten worse. Naturally she won't do anything about it. I guess the only thing we can do for now is wait.

My family prays before every meal so I've added her onto the prayer list! Hope she gets better!

She's going to her mother's so that she can be taken care of there. The problem is, her mother shouldn't be taking on that responsibility. Technically speaking she's in worse shape than Darla. She has leukemia.

Yeah, Nikki's family has a lot of health issues. Her grandpa is not going to be around much longer. Really the only reason he's still alive is because his wife needs taken care of. The only reason Darla's mom is still as well as she is, and perhaps alive, is likely because he still needs taken care of. They're a very stubborn bunch. I don't know why they were given such a tough hand. The whole family has significant health problems. Darla probably has it the worst, though.

That's really sad I'll talk to you tomorrow because I'm supposed to be reading in bed before going to sleep instead of being on here before bed! good-bye! tell them that they're in my prayers! *huggles*

So, I'm probably going to be going back to school soon. Maybe in the summer. I'll either be going for an accounting program or business management. Yay! It will be one class every month. If I manage to do well this time around, I will have HE to thank for some of it. This site has really helped me get the hang of keeping committments, and with doing things like homework and reasearch. I'm really excited about it.

I am actually going to be starting in on the 4th of next month, most likely. Yay!! I'm so very excited. Things are finally starting to look up in my life.

I have no ride home tonight from work. Not sure what I'm going to do. I hate being a big 24 year-old loser with no car. If I had $13, I would just take a cab. However, I'm broke. This is not good. I don't want to walk 5 miles in the snow, but it's beginning to look like that's what I'm going to have to do. It's not like I haven't done it before, though.

I'm kind of excited. I get to play in the next Gryffindor quidditch match. I'm nervous, too, though. I don't think I'm very good, and I have very little practice as a seeker. Well, I did do holiday quidditch, but the games are supposed to be different from the regular ones. Ah well. Hopefully I'll do fine.

I'm sure you'll do great! Hope you didn't have to walk home in the snow! That would suck!

*angels sing a C natural*. That's the joy note. At least, in my opinion it is. I love saunas. And hot tubs. Basically anything with hot water and/or steam is fine with me.

Yeah, that's why I hate our schools swimming pool! The water feels like it's 2 degrees! Hehehehhee!

Well, the quidditch match is supposed to start today. I don't know where it is. I'm very anxious, especially since I won't be on here tomorrow.

My mom and stepdad are sending nearly $200.00. Now that I'm going back to school, I think they're more apt to offer help when I'm low in my funds. My stepdad has begun forming a relationship with me. It was random, but it's nice. I'm glad he's started talking to me more than he used to.
