Press Conference: Etta

This is the thread for Etta's press conference. In this thread you will be fielding questions asked by the press (myself) and judged on how well you handle it.

So come in, get yourself settled behind a microphone, and await the first journalist...

Etta walked i to the press confrence, she smiled brightly as she settled her big bum in to a rather comfy chair behind the mic, leaning forward she grinned, the light bouncing off her red and black hair, Etta wated for the first questions.

Reporters were jumping up and down, waving their microphones all over the place as they vied to be the first to talk to Etta.

Finally, one won out.

"Etta, I'm Andrea Jones from Modern Witch. Do you have anything to say about the recent rumours surrounding your act, drkangelcat, and a certain Mr Malfoy?"

Etta beamed down at Andrea, her eyes dancing under the lights.

"Which Mr Malfoy may that be? I do declare there are three at the last count, of course, anyways it does not matter which one your referring to Ms Jonesl, Drkangelcat has told me in strict confidence that none of the Malfoys are her type, she prefers *whispers* Buckbeak."

Etta smiled innocently and struck a quick pose from her seat.

"Etta, I'm Matt Jenkins from Wizard's Health. Cat may not be involved with a Malfoy, but what about your fine self? There've been rumours floating around for weeks..."

Etta had the decent to blush at the question but never the less she continued to smile.

"Well, it is common knowledge that myself and Lucius have a love child, but may i please go on record as saying, any relationship that i have with Lucius is purely friendship, out of respect for our daughter and partners."

"Etta! Etta, over here! Lucy Bryans from Witch Weekly. It's been widely reported that you're secretly championing your act that comes from your own House. Is this true?"

Etta looked indignant at the reporter, her face flushed red with annoyance as she glared at Lucy.

"How dare you even suggest such a thing!" hissed Etta. "I adore all three acts, which house they are from holds no difference to me! If i had my own, and trust me i have tried! I would have all three of my contestants as Champions! Now apologise you foolish witch!"

Etta continued to glare with fury at the reporter, her hand twitching on her wand. Her mind ran with numerous curses whilst she waited.

Lucy Bryans looked affronted as she heard Etta's reply, and before any of the other journalists could ask a question, she jumped up from her seat again.

"I'm only repeating what's been heard on the grapevine. I'll be sure to assuage our readers fears on this matter. Now...there's been some hearsay that you're planning on offering a contract to dragonweaver even if she doesn't win the competition. Is this true, and if so, why should the audience bother voting for her if she's already assured a job?"

Again Etta stared at Lucy in desbelief and pulled her wand from her robes, [placing it menceingly on the table in front of her.

"I have not, and i repeat NOT, offered a contract to DragonWeaver, nor have i offered one to my other contestants. I do not show favoritism and treat each one of my three girls as if they were my daughters, they enetred this contest to prove to the world that they are worthy of being the Talent X champion and will do so without my offering them contracts no matter what, however, if you want to know about mentors offering contracts you should speak with Rai, now he is the one who will be offering a contract to his contestants. and you can quote me on that!"

Etta smiled sweetly and flashed another pose for the cameras.

Lucy Bryans sat down, scribbling furiously on her sheaf of parchment. A good looking, brunette wizard stood up and winked at Etta.

"Ettie, can I call you that? Ettie, darling, this isn't a question about the show, but how do you fancy a drink tonight, just you and me?"

The reporter winked again and ruffled his hair.

Etta laugehd at the audacity of the reporter in front of her. She winked and grinned.

"I don't date strangers, tel me your name and i'll meet you at eight," she giggled.

The brunette reporter smirked.

"The name's David, David T. Eight it is!"

Etta leaned forward in her seat.

"Hello David, why don't you come sit up here, right next to me, so i can, get to know you better," grinned Etta.

David was about to stand up when a formidable looking wizard with a monacle spoke up.

"This press conference is for discussion of Talent X. Flirting can take place later."

David frowned, but sat down, winking at Etta once more, as another reporter stood up.

"Etta, I'm Katie Smith from Teenwitch. Our readers just love your acts, and would like to know if you plan to take them on tour after the competition."

"Ah be quiet you old fuddy duddy," laughed Etta, quickly stunning Rai. "Old men, what can i say, poor Daddy, he'll have a bad head when he wakes up."

Suddenly Etta's eyes turned to the screaming and security.

Wide eyed at the intrusion, Etta blew a kiss to David

"Wow you have a fan club," she grinned

finally turning her attention to Katie Etta began.

"Well," she smiled softly. "I hadn't actally considered that, hmm, i think, after the competion and some well deserved rest i will raise the subject with the girls and if they agree i think a world tour would be wonderful!"

The gathered reporters watched wide eyed at the double interruption: another mentor Raistlin looking livid and mouthing off at Etta, and an elf being dragged away by a hippo.

One reporter didn't seem too bothered by the distraction and stood up.

"Etta, this incident further confirms reports that there's a distinct animosity between yourself and Raistlin. What's the truth to this?"

Etta began to giggle

"Ignore my father, Withes and Wizards, he is such a Drama Queen, i call him DQ for short," she beamed with amusement. "And of curse there is whatever it was you said, he is my Father, we're going through that I love you but i hate you stage, plus, *whispers* He is extreely jealous that not only do i have the worlds best contestants, Hufflpuff are beating Slytherin in the house cup."

Etta sighed.

"See what i mean, Jealous, now make sure you all report that!"

Again, the reporters were astounded at the interruption. There certainly did seem to be a huge animosity between the father and daughter judges. All that could be heard were the sounds of quills scratching parchment. A petite blonde reporter stood up.

"Etta, is it true that one or more of your acts have undergone Magic Surgery? We have eyewitnesses that say they saw them leaving Doctor Sauvage's Magical Cosmetic Surgery clinic this past summer..."

Etta smiled.

"Oh no, none of my acts have had surgery, the act in question, DragonWeaver, was merely visiting me whilst i had an extra head removed, a gift from a jealous Ravenclaw," she said. "So, nothing too bad."

"You had an extra head removed?" Said a big, beefy reporter incredulously. "Why did my paps not get pictures?! You're fired, the lot of you!"

He glared at his photographer's until they left the room, then turned back to the stage and boomed, "Now Etta. Illegal magic carpet smuggling has been heard muttered alongside your name for the past few weeks. What's all that about?"

Etta grinned.

"My dear man, i apperate din and out of the hospital when i ahd procedure simply because i KNEW your pap's would be waiting, i've been papped before, was rather horrid experience," she said tiredly. "I think you are questioing the wrong person about the magic carpet smuggling, i have the use of a TARDIS, i do no need magic carpets, alas, my wayward daughter ALiza is the one who smuggles. She takes after my father you know."

"Aliza you say?" Boomed the reporter, and dashed out of the conference room.

A new reporter stood up.

"A TARDIS, you say. Where did you get the use of such a machine, and why use it when there are magical methods such as timeturners at your disposal?"

"Well, its not really my TARDIS, it belows to my husband, dance partner, but he allows us to use it, i find timeturners too confusing, and well, i do like to be lazy on occastions you know!"

Etta grinned and posed, only to rememebr the big guy had fired the paps.

"Etta, Laura Stevens from What Witches Want. Any tips for our readers on what witches really want?"

Etta considered Laura's question for a moment, her eyes flicking to the door at the side of the room where she originally entered, a deep look filled her eyes.

"Witches want expensive handbags, expensive purses, designer this and that, but most importantly they want love, success and commitment," she said with a soft smile. "And failing all that, just give a witch money."

"Etta, it's been rumoured that you keep your children in cages. This is inhumane and cruel. Are the rumours true, and if so, how can you justify doing this?"

Etta beamed at the repoter.

"Actually that is false, i do not keep my children in cages. I used too, long before i married my lovely husband, but when i met Jack, he made me understand that children should be free, not kept in cages because i feared them turning me into a ....into a.....grandma," she said with a shiver. "NOw of course, my children are free, and i do believe they have bred, something which Jack and i intend to do in the fture, once this contest is over."

"Etta, you're related to most of the other judges in some way or another. Any juicy gossip for us about them?"

Etta took a moment to sip from a glass of water in front o her before aanswering.

"Well, what kind of gossip are you looking for? Im sure Rai supporting Hufflepuff in CB isnt very tantalizing, nor is Aliza's love of expensive dog food gossip worthy of your paper."

"Dog food you say?" The reporter chuckled then tucked his quill into his bag and dashed out of the room.

"Etta, darling, your hair looks fabulous!" Drawled a blonde-haired, red-taloned witch, "But what's this I hear about you trying to take my job? Ettie Skeeter my foot! I'm Rita Skeeter, the one and only!"

Etta smiled at Rita, a smile which would make anyone shiver.

"Of course You are the one and only Rita Skeeter, why would i dream fo taking your job as a tattle tale gossip of what paper is it you work for again? When i, work for the worlds biggest and most amazing brillaint Newspaper, not to mention i am Editor of said paper, so i canharldy see myself taking a demotion to steal your lime light," she said flippantly. "And do you want me to reveal the truth about you? Your well hidden, 23 year old, almost twenty four, secret? Hmm, do you? Well do you, mummy?"

Rita Skeeter glared at Etta and stormed out of the room, nose in the air.

"Well, well, well..." began another reporter, "Are you insinuating that Rita Skeeter is in fact your Mother?"

At his words, the sound of a hundred quills scratching parchment could be heard.

"My dear man, i am insinuating nothing, its common knowledge had you all done your homework, you'd have known long before i did," laughed Etta. "Rita's problem is she wants everyone to think she is only 30 odd, in actual fact she's nearing 50."

"Moving on," said the journalist, now quite red faced, "we've heard a rumour from a reliable source, that you make frequent visits to St Mungo's. What for?"

Etta sighed, a crease forming in her normally perfect forehead.

"Well, i didnt want to confess this, it's a rather private family matter, but my daughter, Elly, is currently a patient, she is suffering from serious ilovemybirthfatherattius we're praying to merlin for a cure."

"I see," said the reporter, "and what of your other daughters? How are they doing?"

Aliza walked into Etta's conference room absolutely shocked. "Etta!" she shouted, and then went to stand by the microphone. She turned to the reporters and said, "I'd just like to clarify something - Elly is not mentally ill and she never was. She does not suffer from ilovemybirthfatherattius. And I think it's horrible that her own mother will make up lies about her children to get out of telling the world the truth about her own illness!"

Etta sighed.

"Aliza, your pocket money has been stopped, i shall give Amy all of it, yes thats right Amy is getting you £5000 a week pocket money," she scolded. "And why do people feel the need to gatecrash my press conference?" she added to the reporters. "One would think that their own conferences are rather dull."

Flicking her wand Etta silenced Aliza and sent her flying from the room, flicking her wand once more she placed a "EVERONE IS BARRED uNLESS INVITED" curse upon the doors. Now smiling she turned her attention back to the press.

"A curse and charm from my childhood, it is hard growing up with sisters who always want to invade your bedroom," she smiled. "Now, as you may see, Aliza is, well to put it simply, deluded, Cheery Lisa is off in America Cheering, Elly is in St Mungo's, Amy is sunning it in France, she is searching for the hottest men to marry, and Kathrine, my dear sweet little Slytherin child, is attending Hogwarts Experience and behaving, a daughter to be proud of, well thats what daddy said when she was sorted."

"Etta," began another reporter, "you have many duties at The Hogwarts Experience. Do you think having many other responsibilities hampers or helps your role as mentor?"

Etta smiled pleasantly at the reporter.

"As a seer, we development inner balance, it allows me to control every aspect of my life perfectly, i live in harmony with the universe, my responsibilities at The Hogwarts Experience help me also, i have a large network of friends, i know almost everyone and find that, when it comes to my artists, these friends can provide that certain input we need when it comes to understanding the voting public," she said dreamily. "I also find working at HE is brilliant for my house's Muffin Business! Come on everyone go buy a Huffie Muffin!"

The press conference is now over, and scores will be up shortly.
