Holly coughed and spluttered and tried to breathe.
She wiped her eyes, not quite sure what had just happened. Shadow had saved her life again. That girl. The second she returned to the surface Holly would thank her, but for now she had to think of a way to help them....

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the ocean, a little spider monkey ambled along the surface, panicking. Where was Holly? And Shadow for that matter?
Just when he thought he saw the cloaked figure that was his owners best friend, something pulled at him from behind. George turned around to see the giant squid pulling at him. He attempted to scream.

Holly picked up his discarded wand from a few metres away and cast a protection charm on herself. She would be safe to find George and Shadow. And so she dove again.

"JANE...STAY HERE!" exclaimed Natalie as she took off her cloak. She dived into the lake after Holly, as she was aware of the fact that George and Shadow were down there and Holly would need an extra hand.

Holly glanced up and motioned for Natalie to return to the surface.
She spotted George and Shadow and began to swim toward them.

"No, I'll help...I can help you," Natalie mouthed, she took something out of her pocket and put it in her mouth an chewed and swallowed. Gillyweed.

"Genious!" Holly yelled, but she was fully protected by her charm, and so was also safe, "You go find George! Ill see where Shadow got to!"

"Ok," said Natalie, now able to full talk and breathe. She would have an hour. She kicked out with her newly sprouted flippers behind her.

Holly nodded ans turned her attention back to the problem facing her.
Where was Shadow now?

Natalie swam and swam, he time turner pulling on her neck as she went. She looked to the bottom, but couldn't see George.

"Come on," said Natalie. George was magical, but she wasn't sure he was able to breathe underwater.

Shadow made a grab for the monkey, and managed to catch hold of him. Summoning up her magic, she cast a strong bolt at the squid, followed by another and another until it let go of George. Holding him tightly, she kicked for the surface.

Holly swam toward the two, and helped them upwards, glad they were alive, but a little disappointed she hadnt got the chance to save Shadow's life like she promised some day she would.

Shadow broke the surface and grabbed Holly again, teleporting all three of them to the shore.
"Now stay there, I'm going after Natalie." Shadow said as she dived in again.

Holly sighed after her.
That girl just never stopped giving.
"I'll get her a badge for bravery someday," she said, then realised George was coughing and spluttering at the side, and so tended to him insted.

Shadow glanced around quickly under water and spotted Natalie. She grabbed the girl and pointed upwards before launching herself towards the surface, keeping a hold on her friend. She broke the surface again, breathing deeply.

Holly helped the Natalie back onto the shore, pulling Shadow up after her.
"You alright?"

"How's George?" Shadow asked.

"Im fine," George said, "We're more concerned about you,"
"Yeah," Holly asked, "Are you alright?"

"I'll live." Shadow replied, coughing.

"Good," Holly said, "Well you saved out lives....again....for like the millionth time.....so thanks....again...,"

"No prob." Shadow said quietly.

"Forever in your debt," Holly said and collapsed onto the grass, exhausted, "George, have you my tablets?"
George nodded, fished in Hollys bag and passed a tin to her.
"After that incident at Violet's," Holly explained, "I started to faint really easily, so I went to Madam Pomfery, and she gave me these,"

Shadow nodded and coughed again. She turned away.

"Sure youre okay?" Holly persisted, "Want me to take you to the nurse or something?"

Natalie coughed...she couldn't breathe.

She knew immediately what to do.

She got back into the water.

"I have to stay in here until the gillyweed wears off...will you three stay with me?"

"It's ok." Shadow replied, still coughing. She turned to Natalie. "Sure, we'll stay." She sat down by the egde of the lake, concentrating on stopping her coughing fit.

Holly nodded and sast next to Shadow.
"Save people's lifes a lot?" she said casually.

"Well...I think we gathered that providing she has save both ours on a number of occasions," said Natalie, smiling but shivering in the cold water.

Shadow shook her head.
"No."

Natalie smiled.

"Your just being modest...we are really greatful Shadow," said Natalie, smiling.

"Thanks." Shadow said, gazing out over the water.

"Ya we are," Holly agreed, "Being mates with Shadow- best descision ive ever made,"
She grinned.

Shadow smiled slightly at the pair.

"And me...glad I have Jamie too...he's the one through whom I got to know Shadow," said Natalie.

Shadow continued to watch over the water.

"We're all glad of Jamie," Holly said, as if it were the most obvious thing since George being a monkey.

"And me and you....were all glad of me and you too," said Natalie to Holly, "and george."

Shadow turned to face the pair.
"We cannot be sure of having something to live for unless we are willing to die for it, and that is what we show in our friends."

"That is so true....we've all been there for each other...even if it means being on the edge of death," said Natalie, smiling.

Shadow nodded, a small smile playing on her lips.

"Ok....I think this is wearing off," Natalie said, pulling hersel out of the lake.

Holly noticed she was staring at the pair with a small smile on her face.

Natalie dried her clothes and self with a wave of her wand.

Holly smiled again.
"Im glad we're mates," was all she said.
George smiled too and made his way up to her right shoulder.

"So am I." Shadow said.

Holly grinned at her.
"See," she said, "No need to be miserable when you have ME Shad,"
She was exagerating of course.

Shadow managed a small smile before turning back to gaze over the water.

Holly followed her gaze.
"I like thinking out here," she voiced, then felt stupid for saying it.

"It's the only place to get some peace." Shadow replied.

"Yeah," Holly agreed happily, "Exactly,"

Shadow smiled and climbed up a tree, hanging upside down off a branch.

"You look like a bat," Holly grinned joining her, "Woah- major head rush!"
