100m HURDLES

Welcome to the 100m hurdles Please read instructions carefully before you begin


INSTRUCTIONS

The 100m hurdles is a very fast race in which each participant must finish to be awarded points.
Participants must do the following;

1. RUN - Submit a 100 word drabble based on the word 'start'
2. JUMP - Submit an avatar (icon) of 100x100 based on the word 'jump'
3. RUN - Sumit a half drabble (50 words only) using the words 'breathe' and 'eye' within it
4. JUMP - Submit a piece of artwork (either drawn by hand or in paint - though if in paint must be like a drawing with a pencil or paintbrush tool) showing this event
5. RUN - Submit a final 100 word drabble based on the following picture:

Each part 1-5 MUST be posted in order AND in a different post. Double posting is allowed!

You must complete all 5 parts to finish the race otherwise you will only get half participation points and wont be elligible for voting on some parts or medals.

RUN: DRABBLE


Eyes down, hands sweaty, head pounding.
The clock ticked slowly.

Tick

Tock

Tick

Tock

I grasped the edge of the table, the wooden notches floating over my wet skin.
They walked around watching us.

“Heads down”

Must concentrate, must remember everything I had read, everything I had heard. I could not fail now. I could not fail them, could not fail myself.

I picked up the pen, rolled it between my fingers as I rested my hand on the upturned paper before me.

“Turn over your papers. You may start”

Taking a deep breath, I began my exam.

RUN: HALF DRABBLE






“Just breathe deeply”


He smelt of musk, as he came nearer. I tensed as he pulled
his hand up near my face. I wanted to run far away, never to return, though I
knew I must stay. I had to get it over and done with. I had to have the
injection in my eye so I could see again.

RUN: FINAL DRABBLE


Time was running out. I had to get there, had to reach the
finishing line. Had to beat my time to qualify.
To qualify. To do it for my house. To do it for Hufflepuff.
I could feel the timer drifting up to the mark. I pushed
myself harder. I had to get there.
I passed others, their faces focused. I had to focus.
I pushed harder, my legs running as fast as they could. I
was going to do it.
As the timer neared the end, I took those last few steps.
I was going to win!

RUN:
Samantha smiled. Today was it, the start of a new life. She looked at the door to see the man she was marrying. She felt the butterflies return to her stomach and she just the door again. “Everything is ready.” He father said seconds later, walking through the door. She smiled, linking arms with her father. “Are you sure you want to do this?” He asked her, tears in his eyes. She felt tears of her own build up and she nodded. “Yes..I want to. I love him.” She whispered., smiling. Her father nodded and the music started playing.

Tom Riddle smiled, holding his wand for the first time. Power seem to flood in him. He could not believe the feeling he was having. He had never felt like this before. “This is the one.” He whispered, looking into the old wandmakers eyes. He breathed deeply and smiled again.

RUN

BANG!
The start of the race had begun. The runners took off of the starting line and ran as if their lives depended on it, all wanting to reach the finishing line first. They all wanted that glittering gold medal. Silver wasn’t good enough in their minds. Gold was for them, each and every one of them.
BANG!
Another shot of the gun halted them in their tracks alerting them of a false start. Better luck next time they all thought shaking their heads and returning to the starting line once again!

RUN

‘Breathe’ the midwife said as she looked at me in the eye before she shouted ‘push!’
As the final push erupted I heard her cry. The little baby in her arms.
I smiled as she handed the baby to its mother.
I was going to love being a midwife

Violet looked at the stop watch in the referres hands. She felt butterflies in her stomach, watching the others around her just has nervous. There was no doubt, she wasn’t going to win, but she was going try instead of failing. Running wasn’t her strongest thing. But she was ready for it. She watched him push the stopwatch ticker down and shout go. Violet ran, passing a few people. She felt the burn of the run, but didn’t stop. “I’m going to do this. I’m going to try.” She whispered to herself, passing another person. With four people ahead of her, she couldn’t care less.

RUN

GO!
The stop watch ticked onwards and I ran. My lungs filled with air as my feet felt as though they were on fire. I passed one, two, three people. Only a few more people left before I took the lead. As the stop watch continued on, so did I. I passed another and another until there was only one more person in front. I ran faster and faster until with seconds to spare I past them and ran past the finish line, the tape splitting as I crossed the line. I had won!

She’d hated him ever since she’d first seen him throwing a temper tantrum in all of his spoiled glory. Though now he was handsome and his servants said that he treated them well, she couldn’t forget how he’d acted. She didn’t care that they had been betrothed since they were babies, that their parents couldn’t wait for the day when their kingdoms joined. Her constant memory of him was of a screaming boy who wanted more toys. So what if that was years ago? No matter what her mother said, she didn’t love him, and she wasn’t about to start.
