Drabble Challenge - Prompt: Mirror

Write a drabble with the prompt given.

The challenge here is simple: write a drabble using the prompt given. A drabble is a short, self-contained fiction, which should ideally be exactly 100 words long.

DOES NOT have to be Harry Potter related. You can choose another fandom, or write something original.

To look in the mirror, and see what I see is depressing. On the outside, I look normal...like everyone else. But that does not mirror what is inside of me...my feelings are different to my looks, and my dreams do indeed mirror my feelings.

I know that inside I am as unique as each and every flower dotted on the land. A tear falls from my eye....how come the beauty they feel is shown...unique and perfect...and I have to look at the same normal, ugly face each and every day. Life is unfair at times...

The mirror.

Despite his hurry, Harry couldn’t help but gaze at himself in the large curved mirror that hung above bathroom sink. His bright green eyes looked back at him. Still the same yet so different. His eyes had creases of wrinkles that cringed when he smiled. Yet they were nothing compared to the wrinkles that framed his face, so deep and multiple that the famous lighting bolt scar was barely noticeable now. Things had definitely changed. He no longer looked like the Boy Who Lived, but rather the Grandpa Who Lived.

He smiled at his reflection. But at least he lived.

“Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?” the girl asked. Her eyes wide with greed. The mirror stayed silent for a while, and then a noise came, as if from nowhere.
“You are not yet the fairest of them all. There is one more, fairer than you.” Answered the mirror in a deep voice.
“And can you tell me who this person is, my dear mirror?” asked the girl, twiddling her fingers in her hair mischievously.
“I’m afraid not. The last time I did that, It ended with a happily ever after, so disappointing.” He sighed.

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall; whose the greatest of them all?"
Cara stood in front of the gold mirror on the bathroom wall, staring at her reflection. She pulled a lock of her long, wispy hair and sighed. Her clothes didn’t match well, and she wasn’t the skinniest person in the world. “Not me” she sighed, turning to leave.
She just accepted defeat and turned to leave when suddenly she heard “Cara Jones”. Suddenly scared, Cara turned to see who had been in there. A face was on the mirror, and it whispered her name again. It spoke the truth.

I've never cried to anybody, not like this girl who's looking into my eyes. I'm not like her. I'm not as open as she can be, not as expressive as she can be, I'm not like her. In front of me she's crying, I cannot cry like this in front of another person, I don't want to be pitied by other person. I don't want anybody to see my sadness, I don't want them to see my burdens, I'm not like her. I wish I was really not like her. But I am her. She's myself. My inner self. She's me, when I'm not seen by anybody. Anybody, but me.

Her eyes were reflected back at her, haunting her as she tried, yet again, to find an escape. It was a fruitless endeavour, and yet she could not help but try. How long she had been trapped within her prison of mirrors, she could not fathom, for time seemed to work differently there.

Her prison, her nightmare, and her torment – her mirrored prison was her whole world, and though she tried to leave, she feared leaving it almost as much as staying.

What was there for her, on the other side?

And yet, what had she to hold onto, this side of the mirrors?

She couldn’t shake the cold feeling of dread as she looked at herself in the mirror. Or what use to be her. Now, only a reflection of the evil stared back at her. A smirk on the cold lips ahead of her. She knew it couldn’t be, but it was. She was never again be the child she was, but this empty hollow girl, who had seen everything she never planned to see. “He will die soon.” She whispered, laying her hand against the cold glass. “Soon…” She whispered before raising her fist and shattering the mirror, like life falling into pieces around her.

Lifeless, yet he knows that he’s alive. The rise and fall of his chest is testament to breath, but the shiny cold expanse of glass contradicted that fact. A hand reaches out to touch the replica, lacking feeling or emotion. “I don’t want to become you,” a voice, unused to the rough fervor of his desperate tone. The face in the mirror curves into a sneer, paradoxical of the person he once was. “You don’t need to become what you already are.” The eyes grow wild, pupils dilating into a look of lunacy. The mirror shattered into deadly glass, nonetheless, the illusion is not dispelled.

I look in the mirror and sigh. The lines around my eyes show a life of hardship and pain, not the laughter I long for. My mouth is turned slightly downward of its on volition from the ever-present frown. The gray hairs that have been there for years never spread through the rest of my hair, leaving me with an odd spattering of different colors. My shape, once the talk of many, is something I now despise. Yet, when you come up beside me and take my hand, I feel I’m the most beautiful woman in the world. When you’re beside me, I like seeing my reflection in the mirror.

The mirror bird was beautiful. Pity it would have to die. It sparkled brightly, even though it was a moonless night in the middle of the ocean. The mirror shards caught the starlight, and magnified it so it was as dazzling as the full moon.

I reluctantly lifted my wand and cast the spell that would take the bird’s life. Its intricate body floated softly with another incantation that left my lips. I cradled it gently in my arms and placed it in the mirror-lined casket. It melded into the background, and I closed the lid on my life source.

Demi-plié, shuffle, slide.

There were nine mirrors in that room, covering the walls from top to bottom; huge, glistening, captivating.

Chassé, chassé, change.

Each mirror saw through her, each movement recorded at the time of its implementation. Each reflection was a single moment of perfection.

Now…

She chose a place to spot; pirouettes, she was told, were tricky the first times.

… triple! Remember…

She saw it just behind her head; her mother’s picture smiled at her through the mirrors. Everywhere she looked, she was there.

All around her, reflections of the past watched her.

she looked into the mirror as she waited for her friend to arrive.they would be going to a party at their friends'house. a lot of people went, at least fifty.when the girls arrived at home, they got in trouble and were grounded.then, the girl that looked in the mirror beforethought that maybe it would have been best to stay at home and not get in trouble than to go to the party, go home after having a great time, get chewed out by your parents, and get grounded.
i think she learned her lesson.next time, she'll do the right thing.

I looked into the mirror, but I didn’t only see myself. I saw the two people who always flanked me. Two people I knew too well. My own grey eyes looked back at me, sided by the icy blue of my dark side, and the violet of my light side. I squeezed my eyes shut, shaking my head to rid myself of the vision, but I would never be able to. The mirror image was still there, embedded in my mind forever. Everytime I looked into a mirror, they would be there, watching me, my every move, my every thought.

Niki Sanders stood and looked into a mirror, staring at it hopelessly. It was strange to think that she used to be scared of the glass there. Scared to catch a reflection looking back at her that wouldn't be her own. The mirror had held Jessica and she hated Jessica for all that she was. Now however, that she was gone she stared at the mirror in the hopes that the other blonde was going to appear there instead.

She sighed as nothing happened. Mirrors, they always let her down. Before all she wanted to see was herself and now all that she wanted to see was someone else.
