Last Icon Maker Standing Round One: Voting

Welcome to the voting for the first round of Last Icon Maker Standing. Please read how the voting works:

-In the following post, I will create a table with all the submitted icons.

-You then need to name three icons in your post: you must give two icons a positive vote, and one icon a negative vote. You should also give a reason why - commenting on an aspect of the icon you liked (for the positive votes) and what you felt could be better (for the negative vote). This is to help icon makers in further rounds.

POSITIVE- Icon 13.. This one was the one that caught my attention and i was like "why didn't i do that!" I think the text is great and the darkness in the image goes well with the textrure used. Well done!

POSITIVE- Icon 9... love the tetxture!

NEGITIVE- Icon 6... Dude or Dudette... Your safer never using that effect again.

POSITIVE: 14- I love the lightness, but the darkness on it. Plus, the light texture just looks right! And who you have the text on it also!

POSITIVE: 1- I love the darkness to it. Plus, the red and gold catches your attention. It's really good...something I would have never thought of!

NEGATIVE: 6- Going along with Matty there. Invert is NEVER good on a graphic unless you plan to make it skecth. Plus...it's just to....hardcut on it. It doesnt look right either. No offence.

Positive vote: Icon 10 - because it was very well made, nice blending ((and bonus points for the Harmonyness ^.^))

Positive vote: Icon 14 - Because the textures and the font just work well together.

Negative vote: Icon 12 - Because the picture is blurry, the font is cut off and because the white around the edges doesn't really work well.

Positive: Icon 9: I love the coloring used in this one, and the texture in the lower left corner caught my eye at first, and I like how it's one of the only one's without text, and yet it doesn't look like it's missing anything.
Positive: Icon 1: While the picture, and most of the icons here, focused on the faces of Harry and Hermione, I like how this one focused on something completely different, and still looks great.
Negative: Icon 12: The blurryness and sideway-ness confused me at first and kind of took away from the overall effect of the icon.

Positive Vote: 10 because it's and H&H ship and the creator did a good job of making it look like Hermione is looking at Harry.
Positive Vote: 13 I like the cropping of Hermione and the overalll blending is terrific!
Negative Vote: 5, just because I am not sure what it going on in the picture, because icons are so small they need to be clear and simple. This one confuses me, although the technique isn't bad.

Positive vote: #14 : I love the boldness of this icon - the image has not been distroyed in any way and the writing enhances the image perfectly.

Positive vote: #1 : Simple yet very effective, sometimes the best way to go with icons - having too much occasionally looks too cluttered. This is perfect.

Negative vote: #12 : I hate giving anyone a negative vote as everyone has their own styles and I dont like to criticise, though I think the main thing that made me give this one the negative vote is that perhaps a future idea would be to make the white background appear seethrough and match into the background of the site - this way the icon will appear slanted in mid air and not twisted on a white background - does that make sense?

Positive Vote: Icon 14, because the the font and textures and picture work really well together to make a great icon.
Positive Vote: Icon 1, because this person really made the colors pop. The text placement and colors work really well too.
Negative Vote: Icon 11, because Hermione seems squished and blurry, and the text is very hard to read sad

Positive: 1 - Excelent illumination or let's say darkness, plus anyone who can play greatly around fonts is highly well placed for me XD

Positive: 13 - Again the ligh there is awesome, very dark and vivid and i like the brush and font.

Negative: 11 - the cuting and stretch or shrinking of the ppicture didnt go well there, the picture looks very sharp, maybe using a little bit smooth or anti-alis would have done the trick.

Okay, so I had a hard time choosing my second negative... here goes:

I do like the lighting on this. That additional curly bracket is like the icing on the cake.

The shinyness in the bottom left is probably what I like about this one. It doesn't completely detract from Hermione, yet it adds a nice touch, as does the lighting. Pretty LIMS: ROUND ONE: VOTING 436937

Okay. It's hard to say why I don't like this. I think it's the fact that I know more effort could have gone into it - I know I can make that in 20 seconds flat, and I never even enter any of these graphics challenges or tournies. It seriously is just a case of cutting out the right bit, twisting it, then putting text on. And I think that that is what's annoying me. Sorry if it sounds kinda harsh. sad

But that's just it - you know you can do better, so do it! Don't get me wrong, it's stylistically interesting, and there is potential, but... yeah. That, and the white background really does spoil what otherwise could have been a good pic.

I like this because the lighting is nice and it looks different from the picture we've been given. Very creative on that.

I like the font and everything but the only problem is that I'm not entirely sure what it is.

Positive vote #3: It blew me away when I saw it, and wished I thought of that idea. I love the blending done to Hermione, the colorization looks amazing. Also the boarder looks appropriate and the font looks eye pleasing. Good Job!

Positive vote #14: This icon was perfect when it came down to cropping and text. I love the little bubble effect, it makes the icon look more professional and eye pleasing. Also the colorization is sharp and clear. No need for a boarder it looks great just the way it is.

Negative Vote #12: Hopefully I don't offend anyone, just trying to help you out. Just a little tip. Its never a good idea to stretch and distort your image. If your having trouble with it, try to find a bigger image that would best suit your icon. Also the text is large and bulky and written over top of faces, and a bit out of frame. Hope that helps.

Positive Vote: 14;; Not too blurry, nice font, and nice texture. I am not too fond of the coloring, but it still looks rather nice.
Positive Vote: 13;; Though I can spot some bits I do not like, I am still quite fond of it and I feel it is fitting for a Hermione icon.
Negative Vote: 12;; Though I like that it focuses on people other than Harry or Hermione, it is not pleasing to the eye. It is stretched, distorted, blurry, and the text is really pixelly. I feel it could have been a lot better.

Positive Vote for #2: I liked the old newspaper look of it. Though, a no for the silent scream thingy. I didn't get it. Hmmm.. Though, if I'll over think of it, I will do thought of the Dementors involved here, cause of the mist looking stuff on it. Or am I just imagining that? Anyway, I liked it. XD

Positive Vote for #4: Well, I'm for Draco and Hermione. So, I'm taking credit for the capitalized NOT there!! And, through looking at it, it was as if, Harry is thinking who will he choose among his girls with Hermione, hoping. What a picture. [Though, I'm still with Dracomione!! XD]

negative Vote for #6: Well, not being rude, but. Wasn't the colors just inverted? Nice try, though. Sorry.

Positive Vote for Number 4: I'm going with Jhade here. Though for me, it reminds me of everybody who hoped and thought if these two would be together or not. Yes, the maker might have been a bit stuck to the first half of the series. lol Anyway, making Hermione a bit blurry, or misty maybe, looks good for me.

Another positive vote for number 8: It is classic looking for me. Colourisation is also great.

Finally, my negative vote is for number 12: It's just common. Sorry.
