Subject: Oddie: Endings sooner than expected Fri Jun 19 2009, 21:43

Oddie was the only one in her house at the time, Mathew left to hang out with some friends leaving Oddie by herself to pick up the messy house. She spent most of the day picking up Mathew's things from school. The school year was over at Hogwarts and Mathew had finally finished Hogwarts. Oddie was so proud of him and now was working on trying to get him to move out of the house. She wanted him to start his own life on his own and maybe even get married and have grandchildern. Something that she wanted dearly.

Oddie walked into the kitchen, finally finished with putting away Mathew's last spell book and was now going to tackle the dishes. She ran the water and put some soap in the sink. With a flick of her wand the rag rose up out of the water and started to clean the dishes on her own. Now she ciould have some time to relax as she watched over the dishes. She headed over to the table but as she made her way there she started to feel lightheaded and her surroundings started to spin. Oddie fell to her knees she than threw up some blood, shortly afterwards she passed out

Chris walked up to Oddie's front door. It had been years since he had seen her, since he had moved to Albania. He knocked on the door a couple of times. After a while nobody answered. He walked to the back door and knocked a few times. Then he looked in the windows and saw someone on the floor. Chris ran for the front door. He ran inside to Oddie's body.

"Oddie...Od." He cried, "Can you hear me?"

Oddie heard some voices and thought that it sounded familiar. She tried to open her eyes but they were too heavey. After what seemed like ages she finally relized whose voice it belonged to. Oddie eye's slowly opened and she looked over to see Chris.

"Chris?" Oddie asked. "Chris is that you? I don't feel too well" she added just as everything started to spin again. She felt like throwing up but she couldn't.

"Yes... it's me Oddie." Chris said.

He knelt down beside Oddie and held her. He looked around and saw the blood that was lying on the floor.

"I need to get you to St. Mungos." Chris said.

"Chris" Oddie said. "Chris... Mungos? We're leaving?" Oddie asked. She was a bit disoriented at the moment. Her surrounding started to swirl even more and soon the sick feeling over came her and she had to throw up. Oddie leaned over away from Chris and threw up another puddle of blood. She saw the blood and knew exactly what was wrong and why she had to go to Mungos.

"Yes we're leaving." Chris told Oddie, "We need to get some help for you."

After Oddie threw up he grabbed onto her arm tight and then they were gone with the familiar crack sound. Chris felt his breath leave and then he was in the familiar lobby.

After Oddie threw up the quesyness in her stomach went away but than when Chris and her apperated she felt like she was being squeezed through a tube before she landed on the ground, the quesyness had returned. Everything was spining much worse but she forced herself not to throw up. She tried to get to her feet but fell back to the ground

"Help, someone, help us." Chris shouted.

Two healers started running toward them.

"What's wrong with her?" one healer asked.

"I don't know. I found her on the floor in her house. She's ben throwing up blood." Chris informed the healer.

"We need to get her into a room." The healers picked her up and carried her to a room down the hall.

Chris folowed them.

Oddie felt the healers pick her up and her vision had started to get darker and darker. "Chris" Oddie said. "Chris where are you?" she was starting to worry that he had left her

Chris walked beside Oddie.

"I'm right here. Don't worry everything will be ok." Chris comforted her.

Chris was truly scared now. He couldn't lose someone else in his life, it might just throw him off the edge.

The healers set Oddie down on bed in one of the rooms. They took out their wands and started to exam her.

Oddie started to clam down a bit once she was sure that Chris was still there. She just laid there and let the healers go about thier work. After a few minutes of them examinering Oddie started to slowly drift off to sleep. One of the Healers pointed thier wand at her and made her wake back up.

"Get the potions" one of them shouted and a healer ran off and returned seconds later with a bottle. They gave Oddie some of the potion and than let her rest. The healer in charge looked up at CHris and said "Are you a family members of hers or a friend?"

"I'm a friend." Chris said.

He stared down at Oddie. He was worried that this might be the last time he saw her.

"At the moment she is stable." the healer said. "She will wake up in a bit feeling much better. We're not sure what it is yet but we will soon. Once we figure out what's wrong with her we'll treat her. At the moment all we can do is try to keep her alive"

"Ok, thank you so much for helping her." Chris said.

Chris sat down in the chair that was in the room and looked at Oddie.

"I need to tell Matthew." Chris said to himself.
He took out his wand, "Expecto Patronum."

A silvery phoenix flew out, "Tell Matthew that his mother is at St. Mungos."
The phoenix flew out the window to find Matthew.

About half an hour later Mathew came rushing into the room. He was now 19 years old and no longer the 4 year old that Chris had once known. He looked at the bed and than at Chris and asked "What's wrong with her? Will she be alright?"

Chris looked up at the 19 year old Matthew. He was shocked at first. It had been so long since they had seen each other.

"I don't really know what's wrong. She's been throwing up blood. The healers are trying to find out whats wrong. I'm sure she'll be fine though. Your mother has always been a fighter that's for sure."

Mathew tried to fight the tears that were filling up in his eyes and he walked over to Oddie's side. He grabed ahold of her hand and squeezed it a little.

"We're you the one who found her?" Mathew asked Chris still looking at Oddie's face

"Yes, I was." Chris said.

A tear fell down her face. He couldn't bear to see his best friend die. How many times would he have to go through this in his lifetime.

Mathew looked up at Chris and said "Don't worry. Just like you said she's strong. She'll make it. Thank you for finding her. If you hadn't she might not of lasted as long as she had." Just than Mathew felt Oddie's hand move and her looked back at her and saw that she had woken back up.

"Mom!" Mathew exclaimed and gave her a hug. "I was so worried."

"I'm fine now" Oddie said. "Is Chris here?"

"Yea he's on your other side" Mathew said withdrawing from his hug. Oddie turned to face him and said "Thank you Chris for getting me here. So what's wrong with me?" syhe asked trying to smile. She didn't want them to worry

"It was no problem, Oddie. I'm just glad that I found you. They haven't found out yet." Chris told Oddie, "But I'm sure that it'll all be fine."

"That's good" Oddie said.

"Mom what happened?" Mathew asked her.

"I don't know. I just remeber cleaning the house. The next thing I knew I was in the kitchen on the floor and Chris was there" she replied

Chris just sat there wondering what would happen. Will she make it through this? What's really wrong with her? He thought.

"I'm sure you'll be fine" Mathew said giving her a reassuring smile. Oddie noded and just than the doctor came in. He walked up to Oddie bed and looked down at a chart in his hand. He looked at all three of them and said "We have finally found what is wrong" the doctor said. "Oddie you have cancer."

"WHat?" Oddie asked not believing what he said.

"You have cancer" he repeated.

Chris' mouth dropped and he felt quezy.
"Are you sure that it's cancer?" Chris asked, "Absoloutly sure?"

He stood up next to the bed looking at the healer.

The Healder nodded and said "YEs we're sure." he than looked at Oddie and said "There have been attempts to get rid of it but so far it has been unsecussful. I have tried using spells and potions but so far everything we have tried has failed."

"Isn't there anything you could do?" Mathew asked, tears forming in his eyes.

"There is one thing..." The Healer said. "Just recently wizard has claimed that he can get ride of the cancer with what muggles call surgery, spells and magic. We have never tried it before and don't know if it will work or not. You could give it a try but it might just end up killing you. I'll let you decided and come back later for your answer as to whether you would like to give it a try or not" the Healer than left the room.

"Mom you should do it" Mathew said

Chris sat down again, "I think you should do it. I'm sure everything will be fine."
He tried not to look worried or upset infront of Oddie and Matthew but this was tearing him apart inside, he couldn't bear to see someone close to him died again.

"That's true, it is beter than doing nothing. I think you should do it." Chris said, "You're a very strong woman and I believe that you can survive it."

Oddie sat there for a moment thinking thing through. "I guess you're both right. I'll give it a try" she added with a small smile

Chris smiled weakly, "I'm sure everything will ok. You can go through this prodecure and then everything will be back to normal." Chris said.

Oddie gave him a weak smile and said "Yea you're both right. So long as you're both here with me I'm sure I'll be able to make it through"

"I can" Mathew said getting to his feet. "I'll be back as soon as possible" he added with a slight smile. He was glad that his mother was willing to give it a try.

Oddie turned to Chris and said "Well it looks like he likes the idea of me trying it out. I just hope it works."

Oddie sighed and said "I hope so." Just than there was a knock and Mathew appeared with the Healer.

"I hear that you're willing to give it a try" the healer said grinning.

"Yea I am" Oddie said giving him a slight smile. "It's better than just sitting on this bed all day I guess"

Matehw sat down on Oddie's otehr side as the Healer walked over to the edge of her bed.

"Now the first thing we will have you do is drink this potion." he said pulling a bottle from his robes. "Next we will prep you for sugery"

"What exactly is that?" Oddie asked him. She knew it was something that muggles did but didn't know too much about it.

"Basically we are going to cut you open and remove the cancer" the Healer replied

"What?!" Oddie asked.

"Don't worry you'll be asleep and won't feel a thing" the Healer said calmly

Chris gasped at the cutting open part.
"Are you sure she'll be ok with you opening her up like that? I mean the muggles can come up with some stupid things."

The Healer turned to Chris and said "She will be fine. We will keep a close eye on her and make sure nothing happens. As soon as she's done with the surgury we will use spells to close her up and heal her right away. There will be no scaring or amything. After than with a combination of magic and spells we'll make sure the cancer doesn't return"

The Healer took the bottle and poured it into a cup that he had. He than walked over to Oddie's side and handed her the cup.

"Drink this and by tomorrow you will be ready for sergury"

Oddie took the cup and dranked the liquid in one gulp. SHe than handed the cup back to the Healer who left the room.

"I don't have a good feelign about this" Oddie said

"Well from what they said everything will be fine. I mean all the muggles are doing this surgery thing and they seem to be surviving. And they don't even have magic."

"Yea you're right" Oddie said giving Chris a week smile. She knew that she was thinking too much about it. "Sergury tomorrow. I just hope it goes well."

"It will mom" Mathew said giving her a hug. "Don't worry. I'll be here tomorrow the moment you wake up from it"

"I'll be there too." Chris said. "Everything will be just fine. You will have the surgery tomorrow and then you'll be back to your somewhat normal life."

Oddie smiled and said "I hope so. Thank you for being here for me Chris. I wouldn't be here if it wasn;t for you. I'm truely grateful. Once I'm through with all of this I'm going to have to find a way tp pay you back for all of your help."

"I am" Oddie said. "You deserve something after helping me out. You saved me life the least I can do is get something for you or something. I'll just have to think of a way to pay you back for your help" she said thinking.
