Subject: Oddie Riddle's Care of Magical Creatures Class Sat Aug 08 2009, 21:06

Oddie walked into her classroom and looked around only to see that it was empty. Well duh, she thought to herself. None of her students would come to class too early she was sure of that. They were all probably gathered out in the halls talking to each other and wouldn't head to class until the last few minutes before the bell rang for the start of class. Oddie was expecting to see her son be the last one to ealk into the classroom. He was always late and now that he was a vampire she was sure he would wait until the last few seconds and run to class with his super human speed. Oddie chuckeled to herself as she thought about her son racing down the halls.

Oddie walked over to her desk and placed a few papers in one of the drawers in her desk. She would attent to them later but for now she had to get ready for a class she was about to have. Oddie looked beside her desk and saw that the elves had brought her what she had asked for. It was a boix with some freash meat in it. Without it she would not get the threstals to appear and to show to her class, well to the few who could see them. Oddie was going to have to ask a few of her students to carry the bos down to the grounds where she planned on having her class. She could just carry it herself but maybe if some of the student volentered she would give them bonus points or something.

Alice casually strolled through the hall way. She had time to waist so there was no rush to get to class that day. She was heding towards her least faveorite class. It was the only class were if she did past it was by one point. She couldnt figure it out it was the one class she didnt mess around in as much and it was her worst subject. She sighed and her pace slowed. eventully she reached the class room. Like most of the time she either missed class or was the first one there. she walked in and took the first back seat she saw. putting her feat on the chair next to her she waited.

After standing by her desk she noticed the lack of students entering and thought it wpild be best to start looking at the papers on her desk. Oddie sat down and pickedd up the first paper and saw that she had to have that one filled out by the end of the day. She sighed as she picked up a quill and started to fill it out.

Oddie was sitting in her desk when all of a sudden she heard footsteps and looking up she saw Alice enter. Oddie placed down the papers she was reading and said "Good afternoon Alice. I hope all is well."

"Oh yes I good" Oddie said smiling. She looked back down at her papers and decided that she could finish them later. She placed the papers in a drawer in her desk and than got up from her seat. Just than another student arrived

"Here I am!" Exclaimed a beaming Mathew. "I have come to this wonderful class and I'm not even late." Oddie rolled her eyes but didn't say anything

Mathew stood there and even before he could even think about sitting down he felt something come to his side. Looking he saw that it was ALice and he beamed down at her. He stood there for a moment taking in her beauty and said "Maybe I should. It'll have to put it with my millions of otehr awards." Just than he felt her tugging on his arm and knew that ment let's go sit. Mathew followed behind her to where she was sitting at before and decided that he would sit in the desk beside hers

"Things have been going great" Matehw replied. "Hunting is a fun sport. The bears can be tricky along with a lion." he laughed. "Other than that things are great. Mom no longer can tell me when I have to be in bed by cause I don't really need sleep and as for breathing, thanks to the fact that I don't really need air I can stay under the water for hours without rising to the surface. I found a community of meremaids in the great lake. Do you know they were there?" he asked her

"Oh well than I guess I ddin't discover anything cool" MAthew said smiling after hearing that Alice already knew about the meremaids "and thanks for the tip about the bears. I'll be sure to remeber it."

"Yea immortality is great. At least I don't have to worry about every little scrap and bump I get." he laughed thinking about how life was before.

"Ummm... What job?" Mathew said thinking. "I dunno yet." he laughed. "I'll figure it sooner or later. I have like an entire year ahead of me."

"NAw I don't think there's anything else I wanna say" Mathewsaid in repsonse to her question. Just than she said about immortaility going to his head. Mathew laughed and said "How can that go to my head?" He was thinking that maybe she thought that it make him a bit invicable but he didn't think of that too much. He liked Immortality because of the super strength and speed he had gained from it

"MOm is relived I must say" Mathew said answering her first question. "Now she doesnt spend half of her day trying to make me food. She has a lot of her time as she calls it." he laughed.

"Well if you want Alice I could wear some of those contacts" he offered. "You can pick out the pair that you want me to wear. I could even try on some pretty pink ones if you want" he said luaghing

Mathew smiled. "I thought before it would of been wierd. When I was human" he laughed. "Well I guess it's just something we'll both get used to over time. As for the contacts I guess we'll just have to invent a kind that vampires wouldn't have to keep inventing. Maybe that could be my job and I could make tons of money off of it"

"Alright than." Mathew said. "As soon as class is over I'll start working on it."

"Ummm... a question to ask.." Mathew said thinking. "What color is the sky?" he asked her. He has to force himself not to laugh and than quickly said "Well what about you?? WHat do you plan on doing after you get done with school?" He was curious to see

Mathew smiled at her and said "Why couldn't you be a mother?" He knew that she was thinkign the only way for her to be a mother was to have childern of her own. He knew this would be impossible for her but there were still other ways. "You could always adopt" he suggested. "They might not be your blood childern but they would stll be your kids"

"I sorta do" Mathew said hoping that he did. "It's not yours yours but a baby someone else had. I'm sure though if you raise it you'll soon forget about that. It would be better than not having one at all." he thought

Than Alice tried to change the subject and Mathew sat tehre thinking of what else they could talk about. "Ummm.." he said than "Let's talk about going out on a date. Since we started dating we really never had any time to go out and do something."

(May I step in?)

Rose stumbled over her robe, rushing to class. She turned the corners, trying not to run into anyone. The sun was out, high above the sky, shining a bright light in her eyes, which surrendered Rose nearly blind. She dropped a few books on the way, before finally making it to class.

"I'm sorry Miss! I was, I mean, there was-" She took a seat, lowering her head and looking around. There was hardly anyone there! Maybe she wasn't as late as she thought. Rose blushed out of embarassment and started to open her books to there pages.

Rose nearly jumped when the other girl in the class came up to her. She wiped her forehead and tried to smile faintly. "H-hi, I'm Rose. nice to m-meet you Alice."

She glanced at Matthew as well. "Hello there." She thought he looked a bit familiar, but she did not actually know him. "I'm-new to th-this class, and I ah-" Rose shut her mouth tight, then looked back down at her books. She almost had begun to ramble again. She turned red in the face.

Rose nodded. "Um, ok. Thank you." SHe closed her books and tried to relax a bit, stretching out in her chair. She was looking forward to the class, knowing that it wasn't required for her to pass it, but she certainly didn't want to fail! She was wanting to learn, and it sounded like they had a cool teacher.

She watched Matthew and Alice, biting her lip.

Mathew watched as anotehr girl walked into a class and watched as she said she was sorry.

"It's alruight dear" Oddie said. "Class hasn't started and when it does we'll be heading down to the grounds."

When Alice had introduced him to Rose he waved and kept a poliet smile on his face. Than as Alice and her talked Mathew was off thinking about the best place for him and Alice to go where they wouldn't be disturbed. Just than he saw Alice talking to him again and he snaped back to reality and heard her saying to tell her when he thought of a place.

"I will don't worry." Mathew said and than resumed thiking. He was thkning abiout taking her to a meadow he found that he thought she would admire. Or maybe they could go to a resturant but where could two vampires go to eat at. The butcher shop would work cause they would have blood but Mathew doubted she would want to go there for a date so he thought back to the meadow.

(ahhhhhhhhhhhh romantic)

Alice smiled brightly at mathew.
Man he is way to good for me and now that he is a vampire he is so out of my legue she thought slightly still in shock that he wasnt dead or that hasnt ran away.
"Were going out to the ground?" she asked oddie skeptically. She spent way to much time
out there in the first place and now class is out there no wonder she could never pass this
class.

(Mathew trys his best XD)

"Well today's class will be outside." Oddie said. "TOmorrow we will be indoors and reading. Don;t worry you won't have to do much today. After class is over all I want is for you to write a 50 word essay saying what you saw. That's it and it'll be easy."

"Why only 50?" Mathew asked her. He knew there had to be a catch.

"When we go outside you'll see why it's only 50" Oddie replied

Rose listened intently, ready for her first Care of Magical Creatures class in almost two terms. Oddie seemed like a wonderful teacher, and very wise. She wondered if there where going to be more students showing.

Going outside would be nice. It wasn't to hot, and there was a ncie breeze blowing. Rose cleared her throat and asked "Ma'am, what will we need to bring with us?"

Oddie turned to face Rose and said "Well I don't think you would need anything. If you would like to take notes than bring some paper and a quill but otherwise you won't be needing anything. This class will be more of an observation. We'll be waiting a few more minuets before we head off. I want to make sure this is it before we head down and forget the rest of the class."

Mathew smiled at Alice's remark and said "Well hopefully this year will be your last and than you won't have to return here."

Rose nodded and grabbed a quill, ink, and her notebook. She had a horrid memory, and wasn't sure she would remember anything from this class if she didn't take notes.

The girl who talked to her before came back up. "Ah, I'm a Sixth Year. Um, what about you?" Starting conversations wasn't her strong point, but she wished she was better at it, she liked people. She didn't want them to think she didn't.

Rose blinked. "Oh, um, Potions actually. Best in my class. And I can play a mean Quidditch!" She smiled wearily, then scratched her neck.
"Um, what about you?" Maybe both Rose and the Alice girl had something in common. That would make a conversation easier.
"What do you like to do, and what House are you in?"

Rose managed to laugh a little. "Ah, a Ravenclaw. That's cool. DADA is a pretty nice thing to be good at, I suppose. I haven't done so well in that class, but I did improve a bit this year. And I'm happy you can do potions too! Don't worry about quidditch, if you aren't so good then it's not like you have to try out or anything. But you should get on the broom every so often and get a good work out." Rose felt more comfortable suddenly, and was now glad that Alice had came up to her and started talking.

Mathew sat in his chair beside Alice and listened to Rose and Alice conversation. After a few minutes his mind began to wonder and he now longer was comprehending what the two girls were saying. Instead he was thinking of something cool he could do in the dorm room after class or something fun he could do to the Flitch. After much thought he decided that he was going to have to order something from the Weasley's joke shop. He knew they had good stuff he could use

Rose gave a giggle and nodded. "No problem. Just come out on the pitch and you'll find me, I garuntee." She brushed her hair out of her eyes and glanced back at the Matthew person, hoping he wasn't feeling left out or anything.
"Yeah. Actually, I've played them all. Keeper my first year, then I was a Seeker, a Chaser for two years, and lastly I was Beater. But I took a bad beating last game and was pulled out, so I might try to go back to one of the other positions."

Oddie flashed a smile and said "I used a spell to inhance my hearing. Rasing Mathew it was the best thing I ever done." she lied. She was a werewolf but she didn't want them to know. She was waiting to see if anyone would notice but she doubt that would now thanks to all of the potions made these days to help with that.

Umm.. Alice mom's a werewolf Mathew thought hoping that she would hear. "Okay I'll let ya know later" Mathew said grinning.

"Well we could do a couple of things. Afterall he does deserve it" Mathew said luaghing.

Yea that was convincing. You should be an actress he thought.

"We gotta be quiet though. Mom might try to stop us" he laughed looking over at Oddie. She was standign there trying to hide her smile. "Well talk about it tonight in the common room. She won't be there."

"I happen to have been in Ravenclaw at one time in my life I hope you know" Oddie said smiling. "I know how to get in."

"Nope. They changed it since the last 100 years ago" he said trying not to laugh. Oddie just rolled her eyes. She looked down at her watch and saw that the bell was about to ring. Soon class was about to start.

When Alice kissed Mathew he kissed her back and than grined at her comment. He was sure his mother wouldn't of wanted to hear that.

"Okay I think we have waited long enough" Oddie said. "Mathew come gather this box by my desk and we will head on down to the grounds now. i will leave a note on the door incase more students come but I doubt they will." Oddie than quickly wrote down on a piece of paper and than pinned it to her door.

Mathew got up from his seat and picked up the box. "Umm. This smells good" Mathew said smelling it. "Wait.. Is that blood?" Mathew asked Oddie and than wished he hadn't because of the other student being in the class. He was sure that she would think it was wierd that he thought that blood smell good.

"Just come Mathew" Oddie said and than walked out of the door waiting in the corridor for her students to follow

Rose smiled to herself as Alice kissed Mathew. They were so cute. Rose herself was trying to stay out of the dating process for a while while she studied for school. And she never seemed to have good experinces with guys, like the first psychotic boyfriend she had who constantly tries to kidnap her and stalks her everywere she goes (even probably right now).

She shook her head and stood up to fallow the teacher.

Oddie lead the way to the grounds and directed Matehw to place the box onto the ground in front of the trees that lines the forrest. Mathew put the box down and headed back to where Alice was at when all of a sudden his girlfriend shouted out Threstles.

Oddie smiled and said "Correct Alice. Since you were able to guess right without me even saying anything else or even starting a lesson I think you deserve an extra ten bonus points. Maybe Ravenclaw should recieve 5 houe points as well"

"I think we do" Mathew said smiling. He looked at Alice and said "Well so far things seam to be going great. I beat you'll pass this year with flying colors."

"Okay class" Oddie said looking at the few students there. "Who knows what about Threstles?"

Rose's hand shot in the air, and she answered before the teacher even called on her. "Threstals are an unusual type of animal, placed in the horse catagory,and are only visable to those who have experinced death. They are very magical creatures who are greatly mistaken and shuned by many magic folk."

Rose had seen one death in her life, so Threstals appeared before her every so often. She found them personally wonderful, beautiful animals.

"Correct" Oddie said beaming. She was surprised that Rose had spoken of them without showing any hatred. "Many people think that it is a bad omen to see a Thresal" Oddie said. "Mostly because those who can see them must of seen someone in thier life die just as Rose said." Just than three Thresal's appeared and sniffed the box trying to get what was inside of it out. "Now I am curious. Who here can see them?" Oddie's eyes wondered over her class. She had known that Mathew wouldn't be able to see them seeing how he had never seen death, he had experinced it but never seen it.

Rose as well was surprised when the new student showed, speaking in a weird way. He looked strikingly pureblooded, Rose thought, glancing over his features and clothing. Who was he?

She turned her attention back to the teacher, who now had a threastal beside her. He was nudging her, hoping for possibly food of some sort. Matthew didn't seem to know what was going on. Rose guessed he was unable to see the spiny looking creatures, which could be looked upon as a great thing.

*Please fix the post. They have to be five or more lines, they are to be written right, and they have to be CAPTAILIZED in the right places, it's not that hard to do so. Next time, I'm just going to report every post, just prove I will do it.*

(I know Violet just said something, but she's right. Alice, just be a little more careful, your forgetting capitals and mispelling a few things ^^ And Dominus, your post isn't long enough)

Rose was getting a little agitated as well. Did this new-commer not hear anything they had been discussing moments before? She could tell that Alice was getting angered, and she could hear it in her upset voice and cold tone.
Rose tried to smile at him, holding a finger up to her lips. "Guys, shhh. Give Professor Oddie your full attention." She turned back to the teacher and the creature.

(Welp I'm kinda confused with the missing posts so I'll act like nothing happened cause we all now teachers are blind lol. Just joking)

Oddie looked around at her class and she could tell that a few of them were able to see the creatures. Oddie bend over and opened the box to reveal the carcass inside. The Threasel quickly trotted over to the box and started to nibble on the meat.

Mathew watched as the meat rose up into the air and than seemed to just disappear.

"Where on earth did thsat go!" Mathew exlcaimed pointing where the meat was at in the air.

"Mathew it's a Threasel. He just ate some food" Oddie replied.

"Oh." Mathew said. He should of known. Afterall he knew all about Threasel thanks to oddie and they were talking about them right now. He shoulkd of guessed that's what was eating the meat.

**The missing posts were deleted because they failed to meet the new rules, annoying i know but its the only way everyone will learn to pay more attention to what they write/post and stick to the new rules.**

Alice giggled at Mathew she had forgotten he hadn’t seen anyone die. He was probably one of the only one at Hogwarts. It seems that everyone she met here had some sort of traumatic past or present.
Didn’t Mathew die does it count seeing your own death. Shouldn’t he be able to see them then? Alice couldn’t figure it out but then decided it just didn’t count to see your own death.
"Professor?" she stated before she asked her question.
"Why is it that you can only see thresels unless you have seen death?" she asked always wondering why you would have to go through such a horrible thing to be able to see such beautiful creatures.

Oddie stood there for a moment thinking about Alice's question. She had heard many rumors and thoughts as to why Threstals could only be seen by certain people but no on had came up with a definite answer.

"Many wizards and witches have asked that same question and there has been a few studies on them." Oddie began to answer. "Not many wizards have looked into it much mainly because a majority of the wizards in the world are afraid of them. There have been some thoughts though. My guess would be that there is a spell on them or a magical trait on them like many other magical creatures have that make them different than the common animals and creatures that muggles have and know about. I'm guessing that the Threstals only make it so that those who have seen death can see them and that they do not want to be viewed by any others. They have magical properties about them. I have been trying to find the answer to that question for years and hopefully one day a wizard or witch will find the answer. Until than I cannot give you a definite answer. I am sorry that I was unable to answer your question" Oddie finished saying.

"As if they are trying to hide there self from the peopl who dont need to be scarred and reveal themself to the people who need to see something like a miricle to get by, and people say animals arnt smart." she whispered to herself she was positive if she said it any louder everyone would find it ridicoulouse and insane maybe even laugh so she kept her voice at a steady low voice to prevent anyone from hearing her thoughts she already had to deal with blokeing them from Jona. She glanced over at mathew to see him still amused with the creature. after watching him for a bit she looked up at Oddie and nodded as if to give a silent good job or youj can continue wich ever way she took it. Oddie didnt really need this of course but Alice had grown on her and had thought of her as a part of her mixed up familey now so she found the need to do so.

Oddie noticed Alice give her a slight nod and so she understand that Alice was mentioning for her to continue. Oddie looked around the class and saw that there were a few student who were looking a bit scared. Mathew was standing there looking as if he wanted to pet the threstals even though he couldn't see them. This made Oddie chuckle a little before she continue on with class.

"Just out of curiosity what is everyone's opinion of these creatures?" Oddie asked. She was certain that many would fear them or find them revolting or scarey.

"I think they're pretty cool" Mathew said looking at where one used to be standing before it moved. "Can i pet one?" he asked.

"Sure" Oddie said.

Alice giggled at Mathew’s enthusiasiam. She took his hand and placed it on the creatures head so he could pet it.
"I think there not only impressive but beautiful magnificent spectacular mysterious misunderstood and found terrifying to most" Alice said helping move Mathews hand along the creature due to the fact he could not see them. She looked around waiting for someone else reaction to them hoping she wasn’t the only nerd in the world who would answer the question. She put her hand up the creature’s mouth and pet under its jaw as it nudged its mussel into her hand in a horse like fashion.

Mathew was glad that Alice was leading his hand otherwise he knew he would be waving his hand around in thin air trying to find the creature. He let Alice's hand glide his ontp what he could feel as an unknown animal's back. He was surprised that he could feel the creature even though he could not see it. He than continued to pet the threstal as Alice started to pet the creature where he assumed was it's face.

Oddie looked around at the class and saw that most of the students were keeping their distance from the three of them. She could also hear a few whispers of "They're crazy" and "I don't want those things near me." Oddie had to prevent herself from shaking her head. These creatures were misunderstood and she knew they would keep thier bad reputation even over the years. Oddie returned her attention back to the two threstals that were still there.

"I see that they are all leaving now, probably hunting for more food" Oddie said as she looked down at the carcass and saw that there was only gnawed on bones laying there. She than glanced down at her watch and saw that class was quickly come to an end. "Okay class I want you to write up an opinion article for next class. Tell me what you think of the Thresal and after you do that I want you to do some more research on them. After that state whether or not your opinion of thresals have changed or did it remain the same?" Oddie could see a few students rolling thier eyes including Mathew.

"Why do her assignments have to be so long?" Mathew groaned not bothering to be quiet.

"Don’t worry I'll help you" Alice whispered quietly hoping that Oddie didn’t hear but knew she did with her amazing abnormal hearing. She walked back to her seat and picked up a few things that she had brought down and not even used. Alice sighed knowing just from this morning that it was going to be a long night and day.
"Come on if you want to get working on that paper you better get start going on it." she joked trying to get him to hurry up though he was still absorbed in the thought of an invisible animal he was so amazed with them and it made Alice wonder if he would still find them as amazing as he did currently of course she would never wish upon anyone to be able to see them due to the fact that you can only see them if you have seen death.

Mathew smiled and whispered back to Alice "Thanks. I don't think I will be able to pass this class without your help."

"Don't worry class" Oddie said over her students. "You have two week to turn it in. I don't expect you to have a research paper done over night." she laughed but it was drown out by the ringing of the bell indicating the end of the class. "Goodbye class and enjoy the rest of the day." Oddie stood at the front of the class watching as her students gathered their things and headed to thier next class or the Great Hall.

Mathew quickly gathered his bag and started to shove his books and papers into it not caring if he dealt any damage to them. He then turned to Alice and said "I really do like those Threasels. They are some pretty cool animals. We should buy one as a pet." he grinned

"You can have one once I become queen of Jamaica." She said laughing.
"You really don’t want a trestle you can’t even see them how would expect to care for one?" Alice asked making another point. She put her bag over her head and rested it on her shoulder.
"If you’re looking for Christmas presents a new bag would work swimmingly." she stated worry that the old thing might fall apart and the duck tape might rip. It was something she had had since she was 15 the first time. She smiled and started walking towards the castle.

Mathew swung his bag over his shoulder grinning at Alice's comments about the Threstal. She was right he wouldn't be able to see them so how could he care for them. Mathew waited as Alice picked up her bag and saw that it looked like it was about time she had a new one. Just as he was thinking this Alice made a comment about a Christmas present. "Umm.. I could get you a bag or something better... or even both" he said smiling. He hadn't yet gotten Alice a gift but he had been looking around for something he could give to her. Oddie had suggested a few items but none of them seem good enough for her. He was sure he would find the perfect gift by the time Christmas came around.

"Oh no you don’t your not going to go off on this little scheme for the perfect present that cost more than you need to spend and then onto of that have two things I don’t think so mister." Alice protested against what she assumed he was planning out in his head.
"And lets so you go against what I just said what am I suppose to do I don’t know what to get you and you haven’t helped me out with this decision much." She said looking up at him knowing that time was running out and if she didn’t find him something she would have nothing.
"And don’t you dare say that all you want is Me." she finished waiting for his response.
