16th House Quidditch: RAVENCLAW V SLYTHERIN: 7th-11th

(Ravenclaw Beater)

Jimmy decided to fly to the pitch today, the wind always helped to calm him down and wake him up. He didn't know why, he just supposed that there was something cathartic in the way that it buffeted him as he flew, gave him freedom to go any which way he wanted. Up, down, to the side, straight forwards, backwards...there was no obstacle, no impediment to anything he wanted to do. Up here he was free from classes, from Professors and prefects and routine and deadlines, from work and stress and worry and interaction. Up here, none of it mattered. Just the sun laying over his face as he cut through the sky, the feeling of weightlessness as he pulled off a spin, or a barrel roll. The familiar flush of excitement coursed through him slowly, languidly as he flew, a slow injection of pheremone, hormone and adrenaline that caused his muscles to tense and his skin to almost crackle with anticipation.

Despite whatever else was going on, he knew he'd always love Quidditch. He reached the pitch and soared upwards, pulling back on the broomstick and executing a loop-the-loop with almost unerring precision. As his vision came back into sharp focus, he shifted his bat from where it was hanging on his waist into his hand, waiting for his fellow team mates and the Slytherins to turn up. The last game had been good, and he was looking forward to playing them again. He only hoped this game would prove to be as challenging.

(Ravenclaw seeker)

::Elly jumped on her broom and pushed off into the air. She was a bit tired but new she'd help win this game. The good thing about being a seeker was you only have to concentrate on one thing. The Snicth. Elly Started her search immediatly::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

::Ah Quidditch. Nothing in the world could be better in Elana's mind. The end of term was nearing...quite a pity, their team was amazing and she hoped that they all would try out again for next term- together they were unstopable.::

::She strolled onto the Pitch, looking above for her teammates and their opponents. In the bright blue sky there were only darker blue robed figures flying around, and her grin spread. Those Snakes won't know what hit them when they show up. It's always fun to start with a good lead. Elana mounted her broom and kicked off, her beloved Beater's bat held in her right hand- If Rai takes it again.... -and visions of victory in her mind. She flew up to her teammates and asked cheerfully, "So, we ready to win another game?"

(Ravenclaw Beater)

As the game kicked off, Jimmy's mind flashed back to the play they'd practiced just the day before, aiming to put it into action as soon as the Quaffle was thrown. Keeping his eyes peeled on the swirl of green and blue, he picked out Lily with the ball, streaking towards the Slytherin posts.

He put on a bit of speed, and came up alongside a bludger, bobbing and weaving with it as he called over to Elana.

THWACK!

With a resounding crack, he sent the ball careening towards his fellow beater, ignoring the small voice in the back of his head that still told him sending bludgers against your own team mates was exceptionally dangerous.

(Commentator)

Etta settled herself down into her new seat, patted her fellow judges, smiled happily and began dangling Ducky over the side of the commenter box.

“Welcome one and all to yet another spectacular Quiddich Game between the clever Ravenclaw and the Sly Slytherins! Already on the pitch we have the Ravenclaw team and yet no Slytherins, me wonders if the rumours of prematch jinxing are true!”

:Etta let go of Ducky as she waved to the Ravenclaw team.

“Sorry,” she mumbled as Ducky climbed k into the box and took her seat with the other judges. “Where was i? Oh yes, rumours, I have it from a well placed source who wishes not to be name, one Swifty, that the Ravenclaw team were assisting the Slytherins with homework! Oh what a way to kill off a team, lets hope those Slytherins show up and prove dear Swifty wrong!”

(Ravenclaw Beater)

::Hearing Jimmy's voice and the THWACK of his bat hitting a Bludger, Elana whipped around to see the Bludger racing towards her. And Lily had just thrown the Quaffle towards the left goals...Elana grinned. She loved this play. She waited until the Bludger was close and then hit it at the Quaffle. If she could hit it at in precisely the right direction, it would fly to Lily who was waiting near the right goal. The Bludger connected and Elana bit her lip, watching its change of direction and hoping she had done it right.::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

"YES!" cried Elana. She flew around the goal posts until she got to Lily to hug her. "Wonderful play, dear," she said, grinning. "Have a few more up your sleeves?"

::Elana looked around the Pitch towards the Ravenclaw seats and was overjoyed to hear the cheers and applause, to see the banners waving in the light breeze for their team...it was a good feeling.::

(Commentator)

"And Ravenclaw have scored, the crowds are going wild!!! What does that banner say? 'Elly for President', yes well moving on ... oh and another a banner 'Vote Life for HEBB winner' hmmm...well....those Ravenclaws like their promotion! And now a public service announcement from our sponsors Snape is good."

(Ravenclaw seeker)

::elly flew up to etta.

"Hey there. can I borrow that mic?" Etta nodded and gave elly the microphone, "That's right, Vote elly for president. I'll be fair and fuN! So get voting!" elly laughed and threw the mic back to Etta, gave her a high five and started to fly back into the game, "Oh, and YAY captain Jack is Back with the Doctor!" Just then Elly tuned and flew off::

(Slytherin Chaser)

Once again Jessie had shown up late for the quidditch game, but as she looked around she realized she wasn't the only one... her entire team was missing! "Where's my team mates!" She shouted at no one in particular. Jessie quickly mounted her broom and shot up. "And you already started too!" She yelled. "Gosh... where's Nancy!" She said to herself as she searched the sky for the quaffle.

(SLYTHERIN CHASER)

Nancy ran onto the quidditch pitch, quickly put on her goggles and gloves, mounted her firebolt and soared up into the clouds. She spotted many Ravenclaws on the field and only one of her own teammates. "Jessie!" She shouted. "Where is everyone?" She saw that Jessie was in action looking for the quaffle and followed suit. She flew past Lily and smiled at her. "We meet again my Amiga!" She shouted and continued searching for the quaffle with Jessie. She flew back to Jessie and shouted. "This will be an interesting game! I will be married to Austin tomorrow and he just got put on the Ravenclaw quidditch team!"

(Slytherin Chaser)

Jessie laughed. "You better not go easy on h- QUAFFLE!" She shouted when she saw the quaffle being thrown into play. Jessie quickly swerved to the right, where the quaffle was heading, and was greatful that it landed right in her arms. As fast as she could she took off towards the Ravenclaw goal posts. Noticing Nancy not to far behind her, she shouted, "Nancy! Catch!" and tossed the quaffle backwards over her left shoulder.

(Slytherin Chaser)

Jessie sighed as Lily intercepted the quaffle and zoomed off after her. As she followed Lily across the pitch she saw out of the corner of her eyes a bludger being hit towards her. Thinking quickly, she pulled upwards, narrowly escaping the bludger. Jessie quickly shot back downwards and flew side-by-side Lily. "Sorry, I kinda need this." She said, grabbing the quaffle and tearing off towards the opposite end.

(Ravenclaw Keeper)

"Late again.." Brunette muttered, mounting her broom and zooming to her position.

::She hovered in front of her teams hoops when she noticed Jessie flying towards her. The quaffle was in her arms. Brunette smirked and waited for her to score. This would be fun!::

(Ravenclaw Chaser)

::Lifey lept onto her broom and kicked off, determind to play as well as she could. She felt that she needed to really prove that the decision to make her co-captian had not been wrong.::

::swerving dangerously to avoid coliding with a slytherin beater, Lifey was a little over anxious and didn't see them for a second, Lifey saw Jessie with the quaffle and heading towards Holly.::

::Her heart rate speeding up, she felt a familiar adrenalin rush as she flattened her self to her broom and sped towards the slytherin chaser.::

::they were moving directly towards each other, head to head, and before Jessie could register anything but a look of suprise and panic, Lifey swept by her, knocking the quaffle from her graps and clutching it under her own arm.::

"Lily go long!" ::She cried to her fellow chaser.::

::She held the quaffle firmly in her hand, pulled back her arm, and tossed the scarlet ball to her fellow chaser.::

(Ravenclaw Chaser)

::Lifey knew that the long pass was unadvisable the majority of the time, but in this instant, considering the chaser posistions and Lily's abilities, Lifey knew the odds where in her favor. And they were.::

::The instaint the Quaffle left Lifey's grasp, she pressed herself against the broom, signaling the well known play to lily.::

::Lily had seen it, and Lifey was aware of her fellow chaser throwing the ball in the air, spinning, and hitting the quaffle.::

::Lifey felt a slight rush of panic, knowing that timing for this play was vital. She accelerated, pushing her broom faster and faster than she had ever flown in her life.::

::She saw the quaffle, and as if in slow motion, she reached out, grabbed it, looked in front to where she was flying and saw the center post not 10 feet away.::

::turning her broom so it faced the Ravenclaw goal posts, but the moment up of her acceleration still carrying her towards the slytherin goals, Lifey held the quaffle in her right hand and tossed it through the goal, right past the keeper.::

::Now for the tough bit, Lifey urged her broom forward, but was it to late?::

::She felt the back of her broom come in contact with the the post. Fortunatly she had started to urge her broom forward just in the nick of time, and she simply nudged the post, and no serious damage was done.::

::Her senses slid back to normal and she became more aware of the crowd cheering for her and the announcer announcing ten points to ravenclaw.::

"YEAH!" ::She yelled.:: "Gooo teammmm! Bow down to Ravenclaw."

(SLYTHERIN CHASER)

Nancy was beyond upset when the quaffle was intercepted by Lily. She was so hoping to get her hands on her favotite game ball. She turned her broom backward and flew twards Lily so she was in earshot and heard what Lily had said to her. "A no show, never!" Nancy yelled to Lily. "I was stuck in a duel and it took me forever to sort out the angry hippos!" Nancy shouted and giggled to Lily.

She swung her broom back around went to talk to Jessie. "We seriously need to have a talk with our teammates. We can not play this game with only two of us. We need our beaters and our keeper and where the heck is our captain!" Nancy had a bit of panic in her voice and then almost cried when she saw Lifey get the quaffle and made a speedy goal for Ravenclaw.

Nancy knew what she had to do. She quickly sped to the Slytherin side of the pitch and darted after the quaffle that was thrown back into play by the invisible keeper. After dodging a few bludgers that were pelted at her Nancy finally was able to get her hands of the quaffle.

She snatched it up out of the air and swung her broom around with a hard left turn. She went twards where Jessie was and dodged another bludger which came only inches from her head. "Jessie, catch!" Nancy yelled to her teammate and tossed the quaffle a few short feet into Jessie's arms.

(Ravenclaw Beater)

::Oh no you don't, thought Elana as she saw Nancy throw the Quaffle to Jessie. She hit a passing Bludger at the Quaffle- CRACK! -and watched happily as it hit it just before Jessie could catch it. The Quaffle flew towards one of the Ravenclaw Chasers who immediately raced to catch it.::

"Sorry 'bout that Nancy," said Elana with a mischevious grin. "Even though you're getting married today we're not going easy on you. Best of luck with that, by the way."

(SLYTHERIN CHASER)

Nancy could not believe the sheer horror of this game. There was only herself and Jessie playing in the game so far and the two of them could not get anything done at all. She watched painfully as Elana knocked the quaffle out of Jessie's path with a mighty whack of the bludger. She had to smile when Elana made her comment about her wedding tonight though.

"Well then Elana thanks for the well wishes and I think it may get more interesting where my Almost husband has just been appointed to the Ravenclaw quidditch team. We will have to battle against one another! But you could go a little easy on me where there are only two of us playing on the Slytherin team!"

Nancy circled around and headed after the Ravenclaw chaser who was heading for the quaffle. She sped up as fast as she could to catch up to them and hopefully retrieve the quaffle once more.

(Slytherin Reserve beater)

Raistlin couldn't stand watching that blood bath anymore. Grabbing his broom and his faithful stick he was ready to break some bones!

"Okay this outrageous let's even the balance a little bit!"
His first target was Elana an old grudge he has against her. Swinging his stick he hit a bludger to elana broom stick so it would break and cause her to lost balance.

(SLYTHERIN CHASER)


Nancy squeeeeee'd when she saw Raisty come onto the pitch and wasted no time getting to work. She flew over to him and gave him the hardest high five she could. "I love you Raisy! Now, let's finally score in this game! Cover me!"

Nancy flew sideways and had a huge smile on her face. Finally they had a chance to get something done in this game. She spotted the Ravenclaw chaser about to catch the quaffle and snatched it up just before they got their hands on it. She grabbed it as tightly as she could and twisted her broom in a 180 degree turn and sped off twards the Ravenclaw goal posts. She usualy liked to pass the quaffle around before scoring but it was proving to be difficult with not many teammates here. She flew down in a feint like style and took a sharp left and pulled herself back up again.

She ducked twice to escape a bludger and had a close call with a Ravenclaw she almost flew into. "Sorry Lily!" She called and continued to zigzag her way across the pitch twards the left post. Suddenly Nancy had an idea. It was a plan Raisty and her had talked about some time ago.

She slowed her speed and waited until Raist was not too far from her and threw the quaffle backwards twards him. "You know what to do!" She yelled.

(Slytherin Beater)

"Right snapey. Here goes nothing!" Raistlin shouted as he hit a bludger to hit the quaffle sending the red ball right to one of the goalposts!

(SLYTHERIN CHASER)

Nancy watched with fear and bit her lip hard waiting to see if they would finally score. She shrieked and braced her broom with her legs and raised both hands in the air to celebrate their first goal. She flew over to Raisty and hollered. "Thankk God you are here!" She smiled and then flew to the middle of the picth waiting for the Raven claw keeper to throw the ball back into play.

(Ravenclaw Keeper)

::Brunette cursed herself as the quaffle flew through the hoops.::

"Lucky Shot." she said to Nancy. "There won't be a next time though!" she smirked.

::She caught the quaffle and hurled it to Lily::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

::Elana couldn't believe it. Rai's plan had worked and now she was falling from her broken broom and was completely fuming. HOW COULD HE?! They were dueling TOGETHER, not against each other. And- and WHY?! HE had taken her bat, all she had done was hit him, once! That's her job...well, she supposed that it was his job as well now but still! Good thing I'm not afraid of heights, she thought as she looked around for a fellow teammate. Hope someone'll come...this really could be quite painful. She hadn't been flying low, after all.::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

"Oh...Merlin's Quaffles..." Jimmy swore under his breath as he saw Elana start to fall, her splintered broomstick cartwheeling off into one direction. Leaning forward on his broom, he shot towards the rapidly descending Ravenclaw, barrel-rolling as he curved under her trajectory and catching her with a grunt.

"You alright Lana?" He asked, as she shifted behind him on the broom. "How about some revenge? The Payback Play seems like a good'un." He grinned wickedly as they sped upwards, signalling Lily as they came alongside a bludger. Raistlin was directly adjacent and Jimmy could spy the other bludger sailing on a diagonal path downwards on his other side.

"Nobody messes with Ravenclaw," He shouted at the Slytherin, as he felt Elana stand up on the back of his broom.

(Ravenclaw Beater)

”You alright Lana?”

::Elana nodded, giving a sigh of relief. “Thanks Jimmy,” she said. “And yes, revenge sounds wonderful.” She nodded again as he suggested a play and carefully stood on his broom. At the last moment she jumped and hit the Bludger Jimmy had flown them up to. With a loud CRACK it soared towards Rai. I can’t wait to see the look on his face, thought Elana, grinning. She looked below her and saw Lily coming to her rescue. Ah! Perfect timing.

(Ravenclaw Beater)

With a brief glance at Elana's aerobatics, he banked off in a roll, feeling the eddies and currents of the turbulent air swirl around him as he tore through the sky under Raistlin. By now the Slytherin had probably noticed the bludger heading towards him, but he wouldn't be counting on the other one heading his way.

Jimmy chuckled maniacally as the other bludger curved towards him, its distinctive whistle growing louder by the second. Pulling his arm back, he let loose with a solid whack as it reached him, sending it careening towards Raistlin to meet the other, hopefully with the Slytherin in the middle. There was a dull thump a second later, and the sound of splintering wood, but Jimmy was already diving, aiming for the pieces of Elana's broomstick.

(Ravenclaw Beater)

"Good idea, thanks Lily," said Elana breathlessly. That had been quite interesting to say the least. "What would I do without you two?"

::She looked around for the pieces of her broom, hoping they would be able to find them all. That had been a new broom! Highest quailty! But at least they had gotten Rai for it, she thought with an evil grin.::

(Ravenclaw Keeper)

::Brunette gasped when Elana fell off her broom. Luckily Jimmy was there to catch her. She cheered,. They three were all too busy to notice the slytherin chaser coming to her. They were trying to fix Elana's broom.::

::They tried to score but Brunette smirked and blocked it.::

:Nice try." She said, with a smile.

::When she noticed that the others were done fixing Elana's broom and were in position did she throw it over to Lily.::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

Jimmy looked down the field, smirking at the fresh memory of Raistlin's take out. Boy, that was fun. He saw Lily catch the Quaffle, thrown by Brunette and he glanced at Elana on her strapped-together broom, looking a bit worse for wear but alright. He nodded at her, mouthing the play at her as they moved off in separate directions.

Jimmy moved as he searching nonchalantly for a bludger, drifting into the line of sight of the Slytherin Keeper and blocking his view of where Elana was taking up position by the approaching ball...

(Ravenclaw Beater)

::Elana, glad to be back on the broom even though it was a bit unstable, lay low on her broom, and raced towards the center of the Pitch where a lone Bludger lay just waiting to be hit. Jimmy was already in position, Lily had the Quaffle...life was good. She reached the Bludger and whacked it at Jimmy. This was the second time the Ravenclaw Beaters had hit Bludgers at each other in this game, she realized, laughing. But they had amazing plays, so why not use them?::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

Grinning as Elana smashed the bludger towards him, and wondering if this propensity they seemed to have to nearly kill each other was seriously worrying or not, he pulled his broom sharply to one side. Although it must have missed him by a fraction of an inch (he felt it whistle past his cheek) he felt a sudden rush both from the roll and from having just escaped instant pummelling.

He grinned wickedly as the Slytherin Keeper let out a yelp, finally realising too late what was happening as there was another sound of bludger hitting player.

"GO LILY!" He shouted, cheering his team mate on.

(Ravenclaw Beater)

"LILY DO NOT EVER DO THAT AGAIN, YOU HEAR ME YOUNG LADY?!" shouted Elana. "Always has me worried sick," she muttered, but then returned to shouting. "But wonderful throw, of course!"

::She flew over to Jimmy, laughing. "Why do we have such a tendancy to nearly kill ourselves, as well? There's something different about our team, that's for sure. A good different, obviously," she said, nodding towards the scoreboard. "Well, off to go create chaos and destruction," she finished cheerfully, and flew off towards the opposite end of the Pitch where a group of Slytherins had gathered. Still grinning, Elana hit a Bludger towards them and they spread out, maybe trying to get a play to work. Well, it won't happen, she thought matter-of-factly.::

(Ravenclaw chaser)

::Lifey cheered for lily and glanced at the score.::

"come on guys let's do this!" ::she encouraged, clapping once.::

::She swiftly grabbed the quaffle as it was thrown into play and signaled to her players.::

::It was a good play. A very good play.::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

::Elana grinned. This had turned out to be quite a fun game. And now Lifey was in position for her to be ‘hit’ with a Bludger whacked at her by her good friend Elana. Elana spotted a Bludger flying near her and zoomed towards it. <i>Here we go again,</i> she thought, and struck the Bludger. It flew towards Lifey and Elana crossed her fingers. <i>Get her Jimmy!</i>::

(Ravenclaw chaser)

::Lifey saw the bludger comming at her and gracefully rolled from her broom, releasing the quaffle from her grasp.. she was falling quickly and she could hear the wind rushing past her. ::

::she only hoped she was caught in time.::

(Ravenclaw Beater)

"It's a wonder we don't just kill each other," Jimmy muttered to himself as The Lily Drop...or should that be Lifey Drop went into a play. He watched the familiar parts come together as Elana hit the bludger towards the Chaser, he feint, her drop, and suddenly he was whipping through the air towards her. The wind rippled his blue robes as he darted forwards, the length of his body pressed against the wood to maximise his speed and minimise the air resistance.

As always, this required precise timing, and one wrong move could be a very bad thing to happen.

He soared in as Lifey fell, turning left, turning right, making slight adjustments as he noted the wind direction and her velocity. He very nearly ran straight into a Slytherin chaser but managed to roll out of the way just in time, righting himself to swoop up and tuck his bat into his belt just in time to catch the falling Chaser.

"Fun?" He asked, grinning as he reached out his other hand to grab her falling broomstick, passing it over to her so she could climb on.

(Ravenclaw Beater)

Having deposited Lifey back on her broom, Jimmy shot towards the Slytherin goalposts, taking his bat out of his belt to give Lily any assistance he could.

It seemed his services were no longer required however, as he watched the Quaffle arc gracefully straight through the centre hoop.

"YES!" He shouted, waving his bat around his head before swooping down to high-five Lily. "Great shot!"

(RAvenclaw chaser)

::Lifey, saftly returned to her broom grinned and raced to join in the hi fiving.:

"great scoring lily" ::SHe grinned, and to Jimmy added.::

"Must be your day for catching people." :referring to when elana had fallen earlier.::

::Lifey then looked to Lily, questioning with her eyes what play to perform next.::
