| Raistlin hurried into the duel room. He had already wasted too much time and he must fasten up if he still wanted to perform a bull battle.
Raistlin was eager to see how the battle would develop for he was going to duel his wife. Duels had always been a fragile subject between them; nevertheless Raistlin wasn’t willing to going soft.
Raistlin certified himself Marie had not arrived yet, and then he proceeded with his plan. He pulled from his many pockets fours seeds. These were four very special seeds they were picked in the Forbidden Forest; they belong to those colossal ancestral trees in the Forest depths.
Raistlin placed one seed in each corner of the room and before he started a chant he casted a spell drawing a square in the back of the room and shouting “مربع جادويى. (Magical Square in Persian)!” which would prevent that his following incantation would affect that space. So that done he started the chant:
“Mother Nature
I Invoke Thee
Fill this room
With your love
I plead”
The seeds began to grow, their roots entered the gaps between the floor stones and soon the whole room was crowded with incredibly tall and large trees which were so close together that was impossible to walk a straight line.
Raistlin conjured four creatures to protect the original trees, the ones that supported that entire environment. The creatures were a Bowtruckle, a Clabbert, a Dugbog and a Quintaped. He saw the first two heading for the corners near the door and the other two going to the back of the room.
“Good!” Raistlin thought “That way Marie will not just simply vanish it all”. Besides Raistlin knew that Marie would not withdrew against spells but her motherly side would make things difficult for her if she harmed the creatures.
Raistlin had now to perform some spells on the environment around. Pointing his wand to some protruding roots nearby he shouted “Fangen Sie Lebhaftigkeit (Trap Animation in German)!” as soon as Marie steps into the room the roots would try to strangle her.
He pursued spelling “Накануне вечером Тень (Overnight Shadow in Russian)!” this spell darkened the room adding extra difficulty to the task of wandering through the trees so closed together and to finish Raistlin casted “La Distraction de labyrinthe (Labyrinth’s Distraction in French)!” this would make Marie wonder for hours until she breaks the spell or would just had a nerves collapse.
Raistlin thought it was unlikely though that these spells would stop Marie so he had one last few surprises in the magical square he had placed. First he conjured a coffin carved with ancient protective runes which kept anyone from seeing what’s inside the coffin unless it got near it and bend to see.
Raistlin placed himself inside the coffin and pointing his wand to the ground around him he spelled “Rosas Piranha (Piranha Roses in Spanish)!” Black Roses emerged from the ground; these roses would act like piranhas if anyone gets near them, they’d cut a person with its thorns so many times a person would be reduced into to pieces.
Next Raistlin pointed the wand to himself and casted “死観察(Dead Look in Japanese)!” this’d give him the appearance he was dead and to protect himself from any eventual surprises from Marie when she got near to watch him he also casted upon him “درع الغبار. (Dust Shield in Arabic)!” this would make him disappear in dust if an aggressive spell hit him and regain form after.
Finally, he perform his last spell and his big secret “Rosa Sangrenta (Bleeding Rose in Portuguese)!” a white Rose appeared in the air and Raistlin grabbed it and lied down in the coffin, looking very peaceful with the white rose in his hands. There was no way Marie could predict that if he stabbed her with that Rose the Rose would suck all of her blood turning from white to red.
Raistlin patiently waited….

| Marie walked slowly toward the duel room, telling herself again and again what she had planned. She knew very well that Raistlie’s ability to duel was not to be taken lightly and she also knew for sure he wouldn’t go easy on her, but she had a few surprises of her own which she was convinced he wouldn’t be waiting for. She wasn’t as predictable as she seemed and, even though she was aware he would be a talented opponent, she would not give in easily and she would fight hard.
As she got to the room, she frowned lightly. The door was closed, but she could see a few roots sticking underneath it, as if there were some inside the room that were trying to keep on growing further. Hesitantly, she touched the doorknob and turned it, finding a very surprising – though not shocking, considering who it was she was duelling against – sight in front of her. At first she wondered if she’d even be able to make her way through the opening between the trees, but after evaluating it, she found she could. The darkness, however, she would not be able to see through. Taking out her wand, she looked around one more time and pointed it at herself.
“Cath chreuau (cat eyes in welsh),” she murmured, not wanting to talk too loudly in case Raistlie would be hidden somewhere close, but knowing his love of drama, he wouldn’t let his hiding place be a common one.
Instantly, her eyes filled with a light pricking sensation, forcing her to close them and lean on the doorway. When she opened them and looked around again, her sight pierced through the darkness, allowing her to see normally through the small forest that had grown in the room. After looking one last time behind her, she tightened her grip on her wand and stepped in between the trees, slowly but surely making her way to wherever it would lead her. However, after a while, she found it didn’t lead her anywhere really, and she seemed to be walking in circles. Frowning, she held up her wand.
“Bedømme (mark in dannish),” she muttered.
A small ‘x’ appeared in the tree and she smiled before walking around once more. When, five minutes later, she came across the same tree with the ‘x’ on it, she understood she really was walking around in circles. But there was something strange to this path between the trees, as if it was not completely normal. She felt as if she was trying to make her way through the glass house of an amusement park. Her eyes widened and she looked around. Maybe that was it. She was in a labyrinth.
“Why thank you darling, trying to drive me mad aren’t we,” she mumbled, strangling Raistlie in her mind and finding it strangely satisfying.
She frowned and touched the tree to her right lightly, looking in front of her. She started walking once more, always touching the trees to her right, never taking her hand off them even though her fingers were getting rough and sore, full of splinters and even bleeding a little. At one point, she stopped abruptly, lifting her chin a little in alert. Suddenly, a reddish brown… thing… flashed past her, making her jump in surprise. As the small beast stopped not too far from her, she recognized it as a Quintaped. She didn’t know many things about it. Only that it had a particular taste for humans.
“This is a duel not a murder you twit!” she yelled at Raistlie at the top of her voice, making sure he’d hear her wherever she was.
Just as the beast launched at her, she pointed her wand at it annoyedly and angrily shouted “Petrificus Totalus!” The quintaped froze completely in its movement and fell face first against the ground. She stepped beside it, giving it a frustrated look as she kept walking, muttering death threats under her breath, her eyes fixed to the ground sulkily, which wouldn’t have been a good thing normally, but this time she found it to be. As she was about to take another step, she caught a slight movement on the ground. Frowning, she lifted her wand and conjured the first thing that came to her mind before tossing the small teddy bear to the ground, groaning when it got shred to pieces by roots.
“Morto pianta (dead plant in Italian),” she said, pointing her wand to the ground.
The roots shook, reach up and writhed before shrivelling and falling back to the ground, completely dry. Raising an eyebrow, she conjured another object and threw it at the roots once more, smiling smugly when nothing happened. Still a bit nervous though, she held her breath as she stepped forward, letting go of it when the roots staid on the ground. She kept her hand to the trees on her right again, sighing in relief when she saw a bright light at the end of the path, knowing this meant she’d soon be out of this forest labyrinth, though she wasn’t sure if she should be so happy about it.
Accordingly, as soon as she took a step in the light, she felt a burning sensation through her arm and shrieked of surprise and pain. Looking down, she saw a long cut on her arm as blood fell from it onto the ground and… a bunch of black roses? She took a step back when the said roses started moving, her eyes widening in fear. She shrieked once more as a long gash appeared on her leg and endured the torture for quite a while before pointing her wand at nothing in particular.
“Flamma of ira (flames of wrath in latin)!” she yelled.
The black roses all burst into flames, scorching her legs slightly though she didn’t care. Sighing, she looked down at her wounded body and pointed her wand at herself.
“Zaceliti (heal in Serbian),” she said weakly.
The cuts that were upon her body slowly disappeared, healing by themselves, and she felt a relief as the pain left her tired body, regaining her energy at once. The relief was short lived however as her eyes fell upon the coffin when she looked up. So that’s where he was… well at least, she assumed it, since there was no way of seeing into it from her point of view. But she wasn’t stupid enough to go near it either. She looked at it blankly for a few minutes until an idea came to her. Lifting her chin slightly, she held her wand up and pointed it at the coffin.
“Ferme toi (close down in French),” she said slowly.
The lid of the coffin closed itself, a loud thud resounding through the room.
“Locke sich (lock yourself in German),” she added.
A small click reached her ears, making it clear that the coffin was now locked. She retreated back into the forest and looked up at one tree. Taking a deep breath, she launched herself at it and climbed up until she found a place comfortable enough to sit in. She pointed her wand at herself once more, breathing quietly and making sure not to make any noise.
“Mantel (cloak in Dutch),” she whispered softly, hiding herself from view.
Making herself more comfortable on the tree, she looked around and waited, sighing silently.

| Raistlin waited in his coffin. Then after quite a while Raistlin heard “This is a duel not a murder you twit!” Had Raistlin not put a spell to look like dead he’d had turned red anger “Twit! I’ll show you!” though the yell was still far so Raistlin allowed himself a smile when thinking of Marie wandering through the probations he had casted.
Soon after he heard a shriek very near. “It’s time” he thought. Another shriek. Raistlin waited to see if Marie’d peek but instead a loud thud resounded and the coffin closed upon him and was followed by a click meaning the coffin was now locked.
Raistlin sighed “I’ll have to do it the hard way won’t I?” he pointed the wand to himself and shouted “STUPIFY!”. Thanks to his shield as soon as the jinx hit him he shattered into dust and left the coffin through tiny gaps and regained form outside the coffin. “That’s a one handy shield” he thought to himself and smiled.
Raistlin looked around there were no signs of Marie except for the burned black roses at his feet. He grabbed one only half burned and said “My poor beauties, I’m sorry. I’ll make her pay!” though half burned the rose still had the strength to cut him in the finger “Ah sharp as always” he said fatherly looking.
Raistlin focus his attention on the coffin. His white rose was still inside. He didn’t want to cast another one just in case Marie was hearing near-by. Pointing his wand to the coffin he shouted “BOMBARDA!” The coffin exploded into pieces when some it hit him he turned into dust again. When the dust of the explosion and the dust of him settled he searched the spoils. Then he found what he was looking for. The rose was intact with no scratch and beautiful and perfect as before the explosion. He grabbed it and carefully placed it in one of his front pockets.
Raistlin straightened himself. Pale as a dead man he again searched for signs of Marie. “My dear wife running away are we?” he shouted to nowhere. Then in a whisper he spelled “Natur Stört (Nature Disturbs in German)!” thanks to this spell he’d be able to see anything strange to the environment or anything that was been touched or moved.
Raistlin could see the traces left by Marie when she walked out of the forest and when she walked back in. Raistlin entered the forest then. Not very far the traces lead to a tree where he could also see the trails that Marie left while climbing the tree. There she was concealed but thanks to his spell he could see something abnormal in the tree.
Raistlin pretended not give it too much of an attention and kept going inside the forest. When he was out of Marie sight he casted in a whisper “カメレオン皮膚(Chameleon Skin in Japanese)!” he could now blend with the nature.
Silently he got back to the tree where Marie was. Form his pockets he pulled three skulls he placed around the tree then quickly he chanted:
“Hades, God of the underworld
Open your gates, Give Hell
To this unworthy Living!”
Around the tree a curtain of black wind formed. This curtain was now a portal to the Underworld which also caused physical pain that could drive to madness.
“If you want to keep playing like this it’s fine by me I can carry it on forever!” Raistlin shouted to Marie. He walked to the nearest tree and spelled “Personificazione finita (Ent Personification in Italian)!” this spelled turned a normal tree into a tree guardian that would fiercely attack anything that might be a threat to trees and that’s what Marie will look like with her wand if she got out of the curtain. Raistlin did the same to other three trees and left the place and went back to his magical Square.
Raistlin knew that Marie’d get out of it and when she does she’d be as mad as ever but he didn’t wanted a full-frontal combat yet so he protected the Magical Square “Размерная Кристаллическая Стена (Dimensional Crystal Wall in Russian)!” a wall emerged from the ground involving the square. This wall would absorb spells and sent it to other dimension. Raistlin also revived his black roses “Rosas Piranha (Piranha Roses in Spanish)!”
It’d take Maire much time destroying it or trick it which’d give him time to prepare for his next move. Raistlin sat down with his legs crossed and meditating on what he was going to do next…
