The Black Lake

"Lucky you..." Shadow trailed off, reminded of her time sent in a tower in her home dimension.

"No, I don't." Shadow tried not to start a lively conversation.

Shadow shook her head. There was nothing she had ever been good at apart from making enemies, and that wasn't very hard.

"I don't fail, I just don't exceed in anything." Shadow sensed the slight annoyance in the girl but not what it was about. She tensed up because of that, falling to the ground. She cursed herself for a lack of control as she picked herself up.

Emmalynn held back a giggle when her companion fell out of the air.

"Pft... Anyway, you have to have a certain subject you enjoy over the others? I love Potions, for instance."

Shadow blushed deeply beneath her hood, hoping the other girl didn't notice. Great She thought to herself I've just made a fool of myself... again...
"I like Defense against the Dark Arts."

Shadow shook her head, muttering something under her breath until her face had returned to its normal grey colour.

Shadow shook her head.
"It's ok, thanks anyway." Shadow felt really awkward.

Shadow bowed her head, not knowing what to say.

Shadow smiled slightly.
"I have another free period."

"Oops?" Said Shadow. For once, Shadow was starting to enjoy some one else's company.

"I'm not surprised... The only time I've seen Mcgonnagle really furious with me is when I hung some one off a tower by his underwear... Although, that was pretty funny..."

"He made fun of my hair," Said Shadow, smiling at Emmalynn's laughter. "It was Albus Potter."

"What?! Wow, that must've been hilarious! Albus Severus Potter... Harry must've been pretty mad too huh?"

"I don't know, I don't think that Potter would have told anyone about his encounter with me!"

"True. Especially not dear ol' dad." Emmalynn thought about what Harry would look like if he hear, and broke down laughing.

Shadow let out a small giggle, but quickly suppressed it. She just saw what the great Harry Potter's face would look like if his son told him that he had been pranked by a Slytherin girl.

"One time, during summer break, I pushed my cousin into the pond in our backyard, and my mom didn't let him back in the house until he'd dried. He was outside for four hours!"

"That must have been funny to watch!" Shadow thought back. "Before, I used to prank members of the senate when I had finished my lessons. I was punished, but it was worth it!"

"Nice. Yeah, he would've dried in one hour, but I kept dumping water on him from the upstairs window..."

Shadow burst out laughing, although she quickly calmed down.
"One time, just before a senate meeting, I gave the head pink robes and hair... He didn't realise until he had walked into the room and everyone burst out laughing!"

Emmalynn laughed so hard, she fell over. "I did that to Dumbledore! Only it was neon green!"

Shadow grinned.
"Another time, I made my least favorite one nearly die of embarrassment when she walked into the senate with her hair on end and a miniskirt on..." Shadow was enjoying discussing different pranks.

"Ah! Man, that sounds hilarious! Oh! Once, I got this paint stuff fromm the Weasley twins and put it on the floor outside all the common rooms. It's invisible until you step in it, then you make fooprints everytime you take a step! The floors in the castle looked like they'd been painted by a two year old. There was green, red, yellow, blue, and purple footprints all over the school! The purple came from the teachers... I put it outside each of their offices.... and the teacher's lounge."

"That must have been really funny! There was one man in the senate who enjoyed pranking me, and he did that, but with mud. To get my own back, I used my soul self and the cleaning staff were having a fit because they couldn't find an end to the paw prints! Another one I pulled was when ever some one stood on a certain spot, they would rocket up through the ceiling..."

"Wow! Awesome! I didn't do this one, but someone, I suspect the Weasley twins, turned all the classroom doors into porkeys. Like th DADA door would take you to the Potions room, the Potions door would take you to the Transfiguration room, the Transfiguration door would take you to greenhouse number three, and so on. It was so confusing!"

Shadow tried hard to suppress her laughter. "That must have been a time to remember! Another on I remember, was during a feast in Synairn. The kitchen staff wanted a laugh and I gave them a hand. Everytime some one touched the chicken for example, it would squawk loudly, or the beef would moo and so on. the looks on their faces were priceless!"

Emmalynn snorted with laughter. "Okay, I was in the library, looking at old yearbooks, and I found the one with Harry's dad and his friends. They were on almost every page, and they called themselves the Marauders. So I charmed all the banners in the Great Hall to be orange with blue lettering that said stuff like 'Long live the Marauders legacy!' and 'All hail the Marauders!'."

"That must have been good! I heard about one from the Weasley Twins, which was: They placed a caterwauling charm on the dungeon door, so whenever Snape left the dungeon, a muggle song called 'bat out of hell' would play very loudly..."

"Yeah. I heard about that one as well." She giggled. "They also did that to Umbridge, only with the 'I feel pretty' song. She was red all day!"

"I can imagine! I think they did that to Gilderoy Lockhart, with 'Man, I feel like a woman'..."

"Hmmm. I remember one they did to Snape, where the hid shampoo everywhere in his quarters, office and classroom."

Shadow smiled again. She had never been this comfortable around other people before.

Emmalynn sensed Shadow's ease and grinned.

"Do you have any siblings, Shadow? I don't, but me and my friends love to torment my cousin, Draco. He gets so red and flustered... He's a little drama-queen."

Shadow stiffened slightly, but answered the question.
"I have a half-brother, I think you may have met him, and I have... used to have a sister." Shadow looked down at the grass, fiddling with her cloak.

Emmalynn, noticing Shadow's discomfort and not wanting to lose the air of being at ease, changed the subject.

"So, what year are you in?"

"Third." She replied.
