14th House Quidditch: GRYFFINDOR V RAVENCLAW: 8th-12th

{Ravenclaw Seeker}

Rigby bounced thru the locker room doors, singing loudly to the new Kelly Clarkson cd. The music was angry yet the beat was upbeat, making for a strange combination that the Ravenclaw seeker was digging at the moment. Grooving, she quickly changed into her quidditch robes. By the time she grabbed her broom she was totally hyped up, hopefully the game would be as energetic as she was feeling.

Rigby grabbed her dark tresses, newly streaked blue in honor of the past holiday and in anticipation of this game, twisting them into a loose knot at the back of her neck. Now where was her broom? Unable to find it after a quick search, Rigby finally remembered that she was a witch.

"Accio Firebolt!" Her broom zoomed out of the shower room (how did it get in there!) and flew straight into her waiting hands. Rigby took a deep breath, she loved that her broom still held the lingering scent of newbroom. She half walked, half ran down the tunnel to the pitch. She briefly scanned the sky, and seeing no other players, she jumped on her Firebolt and took off.

Even though the game had started late Rigby was glad to see that there were still lots of fans seated, ready to cheer on Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. Madame Hooch was still setting up, so Rigby took the time to take down her hair. She proceded to twist it into a complicated system of braids, waiting for the action to begin.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

June quickly tied her hair back up into a ponytail and raced onto the Pitch. She wasn't late, so June took her time floating up into the air. Rigby was already there for the Ravenclaw team, but besides her and June, there were no other players in the air. June waved to her friend and stretched her arms as she got ready for the game. Going over plays in her head, June looked towards the ground, anxious for her fellow team members to appear. She looked at the stands and noticed that many Gryffindors were already there, decked out in all of their red and gold apparel. "Let's go Gryffindor!!!" June shouted, waving at them. While Madam Hooch got ready for the game, June relaxed on her broom, ready to get the quaffle the second it was released.

The crowd's applause was thunderous, Anthony could feel the walls of the Ravenclaw locker room shaking from the noise. His green eyes closed, taking in the massive roar, tightening the straps of his gloves, another game, another victory he told himself. They were up against Gryffindor yet again, the challenge would fill him with adrenaline and anticipation. Standing Anthony would take his custom firebolt in hand, fingers grasping the handle, the blue and black paint scheme fading into his glove as if they were one, his eyes shot open, it was time.

Leaving the locker room Anthony stepped out onto the entrance of the pitch, the noise no longer muffled by the walls that once surrounded him. Instead it came crashing into his ears like a wave onto a sandy beach, it was what he lived for. With a run he sped off out onto the field a grin slapped on his lips, and without stopping he leaped high into the air, the athleticism he posessed apparent as he did so. He threw his firebolt between his legs and speed off into the air, leaving distant contrails in his wake. Rigby had been the only Ravenclaw to arrive thus far, and June, the only Gryffindor. The game was moments from beggining.

With the air pressing against his face Anthony felt right at home as he would dart from side to side, barrel rolling as he made his way to his teammate. Pulling hard he would come to a stop glancing over then giving Rigby a nod, "Good day for a Ravenclaw victory huh?" He would ask just before speeding off and awaiting the quaffle.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

Wandering along the corridors of Hogwarts, Cris had suddenly discovered a sign that said "Gryffindor vs Ravenclaw Quidditch match: 8th-12th". Slapping her forehead, she hurried off to the Quidditch pitch, reliefed about the fact that she had at least been so lucky as to notice the sign on time. She slipped into her Quidditch robes and ran out onto the pitch, noticing that not many people were there yet. She looked up, spotting the Ravenclaw seeker, then grinned in a pleased sort of way, thinking she wouldn't let her catch the snitch this time. Hearing Madam Hooch's cry of "What are you waiting for?", she mounted her broom and kicked herself off the ground forcefully, giving herself rather more speed than she needed. "Whoaaa! Slower!!!", she cried to her broom, while trying to hold herself tighly to it. When she had finally come to a halt, she closed her eyes to get rid of the dizzyness, concentrated and opened them again, only to see a spark of gold in the distance. She couldn't believe her own eyes - so soon? Nevertheless, she decided to make the best out of the situation and hurry after it, counting on the fact that Rigby had probably not yet seen it.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

June saw a bludger head towards her and moved her broom to the side a little bit to avoid it. It raced past her and grazed Anthony. More players were now in the air and the game was on! The quaffle was released and June immediately flew towards it, evading one of Elana's bludgers along the way by smoothly flying over it. She caught the quaffle and turned, heading towards the Ravenclaw goal posts. As she flew, June noticed Anthony chasing after her and decided to throw him for a loop... literally. She quickly changed course and, as the wind blew in her face (thank god for her ponytail), June flew towards the Ravenclaw Chaser. She began flying loops around him, gradually making them tighter and more constricting. When June deemed him throughly and completely confused, she zoomed off toward the Ravenclaw goals. June flew quickly, eager to make the first goal of the game. She skillfully evaded the oncoming bludgers while hoping that she wouldn't have to pretend to be a Beater like in their last game against Hufflepuff. Wiping all irrelevant thoughts out of her head, June carefully aimed and fired. The quaffle sailed through the center hoop!

{Ravenclaw Seeker}

Rigby was glad to see her friend Cris join the pitch as Gryffindor's seeker, there was no other opponent she preferred to play against as Cris alway kept things interesting. Her eyes narrowed as she watched Cris take off towards the elusive snitch. The Gryffindor seeker had a head start on her, Rigby had to push her broom to its limit to close the gap in distance. She soon found herself on the tail of Cris's broom, unable to accelerate past. She inched forward, waiting for the perfect moment to overtake her wily opponent. In the mean time she would pray that a timely bludger would find its way to Gryffindor seeker.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

The weather was fine and sunny, the wind wasn't too strong - in short, it was the perfect day for a little snitch chase, Cris thought joyfully while racing towards the golden point in the distance. Oh, and here's Rigby!, she added to herself before crying playfully, "Morning, there! Wanna race? Bet I'll catch it first!". She noticed that Rigby was right behind her, and therefore reasoned she might actually be seeing more of Cris' back than of the snitch. Nevertheless, she wasn't sure of it and decided to "dance" a bit in front of Rigby, in order to make it virtually impossible for her to see anything past her. She started zig-zagging slightly and it seemed to work, although of course she coulnd't be sure about just how much Rigby would succeed to see. Unfortunately, this way of flying was also slowing her down and even though she was too concentrated on following the snitch to look sideways, she could almost sense Rigby by her side, instead of behind her. "Oh shoot!", she exclaimed and felt like slapping her forehead, when she suddenly saw that the snitch was changing its direction. Hoping she would trick Rigby (or, more likely, confuse her for a second), she yelled "There's the birdie!", pointing into a random direction and mimicked turning her broom that way, while actually getting on the new track of the snitch, a determined look on her face.

(Gryffindor Keeper)

Amy hurried onto the pitch a little bit late, hoping that she hadn't missed too much. She took up her position at the goal hoops, and looked out onto the pitch. Cris seemed to be zig-zagging in front of Kate, and Amy could only imagine that that was some sort of new seeker move that would prevent the Ravenclaw from getting to the snitch.

She weaved in and out of her goals, waiting for the quaffle to come her way so she could stop it going through.

{Ravenclaw Seeker}

Rigby stayed with Cris, about to overtake her when suddenly the Gryffindor Seeker began to crazily zig zag in fromt of her. Rigby smiled, knowing she would have done the same thing to Cris. Since she could only catch intermittant glimpses of the snitch she was forced to instead track Cris. She trained her eyes on her opponent broomstick, determined to follow until a oppurtunity arose to grab the snitch. She vaguely heard Cris shout out something about a birdie, but was too focused to try and figure out why the Gryffindor seeker was trying to engage her in a conversation about golf.

Rigby might not have caught all of what Cris was saying, but she definately heard the familiar whistling sound of an oncoming bludger. Instantly Rigby dove down, now flying directly underneath her opponent. She kept her eyes on the snitch which she could now see, and prayed that if the bludger hit Cris that her opponent would not fall and land on top of her.

(Ravenclaw Chaser)


As Anthony raced off after giving his teammates his welcome he sped off towards the center of the pitch to await the release of the quaffle. Only what happened next was completely unexpected, a red and gold blur zoomed past blockiing his view of an incoming bludger. Taken completely by suprise Anthony slowed his pace to keep from falling or making a miscalculation. As he did so he took a deep breath and slowed his mind, he took too long. The next instant a pain shot through his body, starting from his leg and coursed it's way up.

Emerald eyes would dart around to spot the one who caused the early bludger hit, it was going to leave a bruise. To his suprise however Elana came flying near asking if he were alright, it had been her. He reach down to rub the soreness out as he gave her a firm nod, "Accidents happen, it's part of the game, just be sure to hit the Gryffindor next time." He say half laughing as he ignored the pain. Speeding off he noticed June had already ceased the quaffle and the crowd had got louder and louder already. He watched as she looped around him thinking she had him confused and then dart off for a score. Shrugging his shoulders he flew into position ready to catch the quaffle.

{Ravenclaw Seeker}

Rigby cringed at the sound of wood meeting bludger, glad that she couldn't see Cris. Not one to wait around to see the damage, Rigby zoomed after the snitch. She didn't know for sure if Cris had been hit, but it appeared as if for the moment she was alone in her pursuit. The snitch sped up, flying so fast that Rigby was left following a golden blur. She heard June score and could only hope that the next sound she heard was a Ravenclaw goal.

{Ravenclaw Seeker}

Following the snitch, Rigby flew past Anthony in time to catch his goal score out of the corner of her eye. The bell sounded and her heart lept, the adreline rush allowed her to push her broom even faster. With the sound of a happy crowd roaring in her ears Rigby sensed that this game was indeed going to turn out to be one for the record books. "Ra-Ra-Ravenclaw!" she yelled. The snitch dived down and Rigby's voice fell with it as she angled her broom towards the ground. The snitch seemed to be showing off today, leading her on a dangerous chase. The snitch pulled up just a foot or two from the ground, and Rigby pulled up so suddenly that she hit her chin with broomstick. Praying that nobody noticed she tried to act normal. The wind felt cooler now on her red cheeks, and she could have sworn she heard the snitch giggle...but it was probably just a Slytherin

(Gryffindor Chaser)

June gasped as a bludger knocked the quaffle away from her. Looking around, she noticed that it had come from Elana. Wonderful. Suddenly, June heard a sound near her and saw Anthony landing on his broom disheveled, the quaffle in his arms. She raced after him as he headed towards the Gryffindor goal posts, determined to get that quaffle back. June had almost reached the Ravenclaw when Anthony drew his arm back and threw the quaffle through a hoop. Cursing under her breath, June braked quickly and flew to the right, in order to keep from smashing into the opposing chaser. The Gryffindor Keeper threw the quaffle back into the game and June made sure that she was there to catch it; this time, no bludger would be able to stop her.

She saw Anthony catching up to her, and putting on a burst of speed, June turned around and began flying the length of the pitch to reach the Ravenclaw goal posts. Through her peripheral vision, June noticed Elana smashing a bludger towards her. The Sloth Grip Roll was always a wonderful move to evade incoming bludgers, and this was as good a time as any to use it. June clamped her legs around her Firebolt and, making sure the quaffle was secure in her arms, loosened her hands to swing upside down. Just in time. The bludger zoomed over her, normally where her shoulder would be. June quickly righted herself and once again focused on the her destination: the Ravenclaw goals. Because of the time taken to execute the Sloth Grip Roll, the Ravenclaw chasers were now quite close to her... not a comforting thought. June placed herself flat on her broom. "Go go go!" she muttered through gritted teeth. Her trusty broom obeyed her plea and flew even faster than June had thought possible. She reached the Raven's goals in no time. June threw up the quaffle and drew her arm back. Using a volleyball move, she spiked the quaffle right through the center hoop. "Yes!" she cried. Before the quaffle was once again thrown back into play, June did a quick lap around the pitch; she was a blur of red and gold. "Go Go Gryffindor!!!" she cried, energized and excited. Afterwards, June flew back to the center, awaiting the quaffle that she knew would come.

(Ravenclaw Chaser)

After he saw that his score was good Anthony wasted no time in celebration. Instead he whipped around quickly and took off racing to get into position before the quaffle was thrown back into play. But it looked as if he was already too late, the very object he was racing towards was already in the posession of his rival chaser, and she was well on her way down the pitch. Determination took over yet again, and a bit of his entertaining side as well, as he spurred his broom forth Anthony raised one hand as if he were wrangling with a wild horse he has seen muggles do on occasion while watching the television. It was an absurd move, but one he couldn't resist in doing.

But all playing aside, Anthony gripped tightly and continued his march after June. Everything once again melding into one as his speed picked up, the fierce force of the wind slamming against his body. June however had managed to beat him down the pitch and score another goal. He would curse under his breath for not getting back into position quickly enough, but he had to push it from his mind. With that he fell to the side of his firebolt, hands and feet gripping tightly. Hanging completely upside down Anthony pulled back on the handle and began a small dive reversing his angle and position. He raced back as fast as he could the grin plastered on his lips as he waited for the quaffle to be thrown back into play.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

June awaited the quaffle and from the corner of her eye, saw Anthony flying towards her, hanging upside down on his broom. Maybe he was trying to get to the center of the pitch faster.... Personally, June didn't think flying upside down had as many pros as it had cons, but...whatever. She shrugged and reflexively, her hands clenched around the handle of her broom at the sight of the bright red quaffle. June relaxed because flying tense was never a good idea and zoomed towards the falling ball. She saw that Anthony and her were flying neck to neck. June angled her broom slightly and added a burst of speed, allowing her to quickly cut and fly across his path, slowing his progress. Smiling mischievously, June reverted back to her previous course and easily snagged the quaffle.

"Gotcha," she murmured as she tucked it under her arm. June flew straight towards the Ravenclaw goal posts, trying to go faster. Since both she and the Ravenclaw chaser had Firebolts, they couldn't really outstrip each other unless one or the other had a head start. This, June thankfully had. She slowly lifted her legs so they were almost parallel to the handle of her broom and pressed herself flat against her broom. Now, she was more aerodynamically sound and she few faster. June was nearing the Ravenclaw goals... now, if only she could find a way to score in her position. Deciding on her course of action, June threw the quaffle towards the right hoop of the Ravenclaw goal posts and swiftly relaxed into her usual form of flying on her broom. Adding force to the front of her broomstick, June pushed and swung. She smiled in satisfastion as the tail of her broom connected with the edge of the quickly falling quaffle. Catching her breath, June watched, as if in slow motion, the quaffle spinning towards the hoop. It hit the rim and bounced off. Groaning in disappointment and frustration, June immediately went into a steep dive and retrieved the quaffle. Rolling her eyes, she threw the quaffle through the right hoop and allowed herself a small smirk as the bell 'dinged'.

(Ravenclaw Chaser)

Yet again Anthony was unable to catch the quaffle as June sped by catching it again. He didn't allow the growing frustration to take over, it would do nothing but cause his play to be sloppy and unorganized, and that my friends was not Ravenclaw quidditch. Hearing the bell sound yet again, Anthony decided it was no longer necessary to play as nice as he was. The grin grew wider, this time the quaffle would be his and no one would take it from him, they would have to pry it from his unconscious fingers before they did so. Pulling hard to the left his broom and his body doing a complete 180 degree turn, Anthony took off leaving a few contrails in his wake. Looking over his shoulder he could see the quaffle arching high into the air, and before anyone else could react he pulled straight back onto his broom looping upwards and towards the quaffle. Locking his ankles together tightly he ignored the pain in his leg from the early bludger hit and let go of his broom with both hands, pulling off his move the 'Look Ma! No Hands!' catch.

Once the sphere was in his control Anthony put one hand back on his firebolt handle and completed the loop he had began. Once leveled back out he gave a quick glance over his shoulder and saw that June was right next to him. Shaking his head in determination he looked directly into her eyes and shouted, "Not this time missy!" Before pulling hard to his right and slamming smack dab into her. The impact nearly cause him to lose his grip on the quaffle but he remained in control enough to secure it once more. The grin on his features grew louder as he flew neck and neck along side his rival, and in a brilliant spot of inspiration Anthony stretched out his leg and gave a small kick to the tail end of her broom to distance himself from her. Now far way enough Anthony laid flat, picking up speed, pushing his firebolt to its limit. The Gryffindor goals fast approaching, and in his posession the very thing that would grant his team a score. Once in range Anthony began a tight spiral, hoping to confuse the Gryffie keeper, and from what he could tell from the rotating world around him, it was doing the trick. Arm pulling back, the center goal in his sights, Anthony pulled from the spiral and launched the quaffle with everything he had. Pulling to a stop, his emerald gaze widened as it soared perfectly through the goal for anothe Ravenclaw score.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

Ow.

Ow ow ow ow ow. Ouch!

June mentally berated herself. How could she have been so stupid? She should have seen Anthony about to slam into her, but nooo, she had to be too intent on the quaffle in his arms. Wincing, June tentatively rubbed her left arm where the Ravenclaw had smashed into her and let out a colorful stream of words under her breath. And on top of getting hurt, she had let Anthony score! 'Stupid stupid stupid,' she thought. Oh well. June wouldn't let that happen this time. When the quaffle was released, Anthony got there first. But he didn't get the coveted ball. Just as he was reaching for it, June flew beneath it and plucked it from the air between his hands.

She grinned to herself but that grin quickly morphed into a grimace as another tinge of pain shot through her left arm. Thank god she was right-handed. Focusing on her goal of the Ravenclaw goal posts, June saw Anthony approach her on her right side. It looked as if he was readying himself to slam into her again, but June wouldn't let that happen this time. Calculating the time precisely, June flew upwards just as her opponent flew to his left, right where she had been. "Not this time," she murmured to him as he succeeded only in unbalancing himself. June flew straight to the Ravenclaw goal posts and shifted herself first to the left, right, center, and the right again in order to confuse the Keeper. At the last minute, she lunged towards the left hoop and threw the quaffle through the ring. "Yes!" she cried. Waving to some Gryffindor spectators, June flew back to the center of the pitch to await the quaffle once more.
