Chapter 34

Use this thread to discuss the events in Chapter 34 of Deathly Hallows.

This was the chapter that made me cry.

I hadn't read ahead or been spoiled or anything, so I thought at this point that this was it...that Harry was going to die. And the description as he's walking to the forest, his thoughts on life and death, about leaving behind Ron, Hermione, Ginny and all the people he loves...so sad

Then he comes across Neville and then Ginny but he knows he can't stay and talk to her though he wants to...and he's just going to sacrifice himself to save the others.

It made me cry a lot

Me too it was so sweet I was just there going no please not Harry don't do it and my thoughts of snape or peter sacrificing themselves for Harry could not be because they were dead . I was really tempted to flick to the end and see if he survives but I didn't

I remember feeling confused when Dumbledore didn't show up amongst the dead when Harry put the ring on, but yeah it was understandable why in the next chapter.

I sobbed during this chapter Poor Harry

IT WAS SO SAAAAAAAAAAAD I think it was my favourite chapter, along with "The Prince's Tale"... and the "Epilogue"... oh fine, i loved the whole book!!! xD

I was a mess when I read it. I think I still have tear stains on the pages xD It was just so sad when Lily and James were "We're so proud of you..." and Remus apologized for not being able to know his son, because he was trying to make the world a brighter place for him to live. WHYYYY!?!?!?! *cries*

This chapter would have to be favorite in the book along with the ending. I always kinda thought that Harry would have to die. I really thought he was going to have to die. I just knew when he saw Dumbledore in that pensive telling Snape he had to die I just knew it! I found it kinda odd that Snape gave that memories to him in the first place. Then I found out for sure that he had to die. So he stared his death march as some of you call it. I was balling by this time. I put myself in his shoes. How would you feel if you had to see your dead parents ,and know that you where about to be like them. That would be really hard. I had to ask myself this question " could I do it"? All, I know is that it would be hard. Then after that he could have gotten out of it. Voldemort said " I really thought that he would come" ,but he didn't. I would have to say the worst part was is when Hagrid yelled. That really made me cry. Hagrid his one friend that was with him had to see it. I am sure he didn't want to talk to anyone on the way there because he didn't want to have more pressure than he all ready had, but he still got it with Hagrid. Then it appeared he had died. This all ,and all was a very high emotional chapter.

I also sobbed the entire chapter, and my pages have tear stains too.. but I cried so hard when his parents came and he was finally going to be with them and ooo man I was soo sad, then Remus was there and I was like noooo... I also thought Dumbledore was going to be there.. The funny thing is, I thought Hagrid was going to die for Harry for a second.. and I thought they both were going to die.. I cried so hard.. I hadn't been spoiled either but I was a firm beleiver in the Harry Will Live theory so I was really sad and angry

I think this was the saddest chapter in the whole book. And I was surprized when he dropped the stone. However, it didn't surprize me when he didn't protect himself. Normally I would have been surprized but the whole mode of this chapter nothing could surprize me.
