First Round

Welcome to the first round of the dueling tournament! To kick off this term we’ve decided to run the tournament slightly different this school year, hopefully everyone enjoys the change. Fill out the following profile accordingly and post a reply. Point values will be determined at a later date. Under no circumstances may you copy another dueler’s profile for this exercise. If you do, you will be ejected from the duel immediately. Those that complete the profile may advance to the next round. If you do not complete the profile you will be most definitely not advance to the next round. This round will remain open for two weeks to close on the 31st of October. Good luck to all!

Favorite Spell: Muffliato (for HP-established spells), but outside of spells used in the HP books, I enjoy playing around with them, but I prefer spells that are related to the elements, especially water/ice.

. I will almost always be wearing a 'Gryffie' hairclip colored bright, glittery red and gold. The hairclip might distract opponents because of its ability to catch the light and dazzle.
Dueling Experience: (How many tournaments have you been apart of previously?) I participated in last term's dueling tournament.

What makes you think you’ll be the next dueling champion?
I think I'll be the next duelling champion because I am creative, can follow the rules, and I love to duel. Also, I have learned a lot from my experience in the tournament last term, which I believe will help me during this term's tournament.

Why do you think you'll win?
I believe I'll win because, as I mentioned above, I learned quite a lot from participating in last term's tournament, and I am someone who can learn from their past mistakes.

Tick… tock… tick… tock… The thin hand marked the seconds as it slowly – oh so torturously slowly – spanned the entire area of the blinking, staring face. She stared up at it, keeping count with its movements with her foot, as she waited her turn. As the two whispering portraits, hung on either side of the clock, conversed with each other and glanced around the room, she licked her dry lips in apprehension. In the hall, all was silent except for the ticking of the clock, the conversation taking place on the wall, and the occasional clamor of sound that would somehow make its way through the two large silver doors, that were now shut, until it would be her time to leave out of them. Reaching into the pocket of her jeans, she nervously rolled her wand between her fingers. The night before, she had polished the smooth wood over and over again, until it had shone like never before. Strange, what things people did when faced with the less-appealing option of going insane with anxiety and a lack of other things to take up time. Right now, for example, time had seemed to slow to a very lazy, very unwilling, crawl. She averted her brown eyes from the clock and the portraits, and instead, chose to now stare at the double-doors before her, that had the gleam of magically polished wood. They were sealed tightly shut, so as not to reveal anything that went on behind them, constraining each singular dueler in deep, overwhelming suspense.

Suddenly, the huge doors creaked slowly open and out stepped a shaking girl whose light brown hair was limp and whose every feature seemed to emit exhaustion. The wooden doors slammed shut and the girl tottered slowly towards the large silver doors and they opened almost before she reached them, allowing her to escape the confinements of the dueling chamber. The silver portals to the outside world shut behind her, leaving the first girl alone with nothing except her own wild imagination, to keep her company as she thought of various possibilities that lurked behind the brown, unforgiving wood. She gulped as a voice rang out, breaking a moment of pure silence, right between the seconds.

“Dueler 37, we are ready for you now.”

Dueler 37… Even though that very number had been implanted into her head over and over these past few hours, June still automatically looked down to see the round pin attached to her comfortable shirt; it read D37. She took out her wand, whispered a quick prayer to God/whatever gods were listening, and tensed as the great wooden door slowly opened, to reveal… nothing? The room inside was completely devoid of any decorations, obstacles, anything at all… The floor was flat and seemed to be huge tiles of pale grey stone, sewn seamlessly together. As she looked around, June was surprised to see that there was nothing out-of-the-ordinary about the room, except for the fact that it was completely empty and extremely large. There seemed to be a huge, immeasurable amount of space that stretched and kept apart the four grey walls, larger than a (American) football field, no, larger than three fields… She relaxed as she took in the room; there didn’t seem to be any danger in just walking in…

June stepped in and jumped slightly as, the instant her feet hit the grey stone, the wooden doors slammed shut behind her. But that wasn’t all… The moment the doors closed, the previously brightly-lit room was plunged into sudden, engulfing darkness. June squeaked in surprise and froze, unsure of what to do, unsure of what was going on, unsure of anything, actually. The darkness was light a blanket, smothering out all signs of light. June raised a hand, seeing if she could see her fingers. She couldn’t. June’s breath hitched as she began to recognize that familiar, wild emotion of panic that so easily could break out of any boundaries and spiral out of control. June took in a deep breath, held it, and let it out again. ‘Think… think… you have to do something,’ she thought forcefully to herself, clamping a tight hand down upon the panic that was welling up towards her throat. June raised her wand and whispered, “Lumos.” Or, at least the tried to. Her voice cracked and she couldn’t finish the word, her throat was so dry. She coughed, cleared her throat and tried again. “Lumos.” The tip of her wand lit up and illuminated the area around her. June jumped as, instead of the empty room she had expected, a huge maze of large, brightly colored flowers appeared. What was going on? Wasn’t she supposed to have an opponent to duel? She looked around, but her vision was constricted by the flowers that grew upon each other, reaching up a few inches past her head.

A magnified voice echoed around the room, as June contemplated her choices of action. “Dueler 37, your instructions are these: You must find your way through this maze to its one and only exit. At the moment, you are placed exactly in the center. You may use any spells known to you except for the Unforgivables, to help you find your way out. But beware: The flowers growing around you and make up the maze will occasionally shoot out tiny spurts of paint, corresponding to the flower’s color. Nothing will happen to you if you are hit, but once you reach the end of your maze, the number of hits you have taken and the color of the hits, will be changed into separate amounts points depending upon the color, and these points will then be subtracted from your overall score. Also, throughout the maze you will encounter different, extremely varied obstacles. You must pass these to reach the end of the maze.” The voice faded away for a few moments and June found that she could breathe easier. At least she knew what she was supposed to do now. The voice resumed, “The room will remain black throughout this test, but you may use any abilities you have to change that.” It stopped for a few more seconds before saying, “Your test shall begin in Five… Four… Three… Two… One… “ Zero.

June knew immediately that she needed light to succeed at all in this test. She raised her wand up high and said, “Sfera di leggero (spheres of light, Italian).” Little spheres of bright, illuminating light flew out of her wand and scattered throughout the air, hanging equal spaces from each other, lighting up the room. Of course, parts of the room were still cast in shadow, but the globes of steady brightness greatly facilitated the task of seeing. June smiled slightly, her confidence rising a bit with the success of her spell. Suddenly, one of the flowers to June’s right quivered, and a ball of green paint rapidly flew from its center, straight towards June. “AH!!!” June shrieked in surprise and instantly, her instinct to over. “Protego!” she shouted and an invisible shield erupted from her wand, making the paint rebound back onto the bush. She sighed in relief and looked around herself. She was at the center where four paths met… Which to take? She placed her wand flat upon her palm and said, “Point me.” It spun to her left and June took that path, her wand raised in front of her. June was beginning to feel reassured with this whole maze thing, when she stopped in her tracks and it was only with the gift of dodging that she barely missed a spurt of red paint.

In front of her was a flat wooden block that barred her from crossing. Huh? June was unsure of what to do… should she destroy it? Try going another way? She raised her wand and cried, “Reducto!”, expecting the wood to shatter. The jet of light flew towards the board, but before it hit it, was reflected back… right towards her! June cried, “Protego!” and the spell was reflected towards a part of the maze, which instantly disappeared, blown away. June bit her lip and regarded the board. What should she do, if it reflected back all of her spells? She suddenly had an idea…. But first, she needed a shield that didn’t instantly disappear, like Protego did. June waved her wand around herself and said, “Réflexion protéger (reflecting shield, French).” Now, anything that hit her would be reflected somewhere else. It wasn’t permanent of course, that would take far more magic than June knew, but it would last for an estimated 15 minutes, and June hoped she’d be done by then. She pointed her wand at the sky and said, “Syren regne (acid rain, Norwegian).” Dirty clouds seemed to manifest near the ceiling of the room and after a few moments of amassing together, little water droplets began to fall from them. Acid rain… Thankfully, June was protected by her shield, but the wood and the flowers were not. Sadly, as June watched, the flowers remained unaffected. Perhaps they had been bespelled to remain invulnerable? That was probably it… That way, there was a constant obstacle that duelers had to avoid throughout the maze. She turned her attention to the wooden board and bit her lip in excitement as the rain left streaks and the wood began to erode. But it wasn’t eroding fast enough. With a quick flick towards the clouds above, June said, “Accelerando (accelerate, Italian)!” and the acid rain began falling faster and faster. After only a few moments more, the wooden block was corroded enough for June to step over it. She grinned but her expression quickly changed into a frown as a yellow flower nearby quivered, about to spurt paint at her. June had faith in her spell however, and was almost positive that her 15 minutes were not up. A blob of yellow paint sailed from the flower and smashed against her shield. For some reason, it didn’t reflect, but merely ran down until it hit the ground. Huh… June continued on her way and smiled as the clouds ran out of acid rain and dispersed into nothingness. The next obstacle she reached was merely a divergence of the path she was on now. “Point me,” June said to her wand and expected it to spin immediately to the right path. But… it didn’t... It kept spinning but it didn’t seem able to make a choice. Strange… June glanced at the two paths. They looked completely identical.

Taking a chance, June stepped off and took the left path, glancing back every few seconds. She turned a corner and suddenly screamed. Planted in front of her was a mini Whomping Willow!!! Only… its’ limbs flailed about, but around them, thorny vines also grew that lashed about like whips, ready to bite into anything… specifically June’s flesh at the moment. “Ummm…” June murmured faintly. Then, a flower near her shoulder quivered… and shot. A jet of royal purple paint flew towards her and made a messy splotch on her back. June made a face at the feeling of the paint and sighed as she realized that her previous shield was not gone. But… what to do with the obstacle in front of her? She didn’t want to destroy it…. But what choice did she have? Pointing her wand at the tree, June somewhat-unwilling cried, “Léttafarmur af logi (jets of flame, Icelandic).” Streams of fire burst from her wand, launching themselves at the tree’s waving boughs, encasing them in flame. Unfortunately, this seemed only to anger the Whomping Willow even more, and so while its’ limbs burned, it launched itself towards June. She stumbled back a few steps, conveniently missing a blob of black paint by a few inches, and rapidly swished her wand around herself, saying, “Parietis des glacies (wall of ice, Adjusted Latin [the translator didn’t have ‘of’ XD]).” Instantly, a thick sheet of ice rose up in front of her, protecting her from the flames and from the Whomping Willow, though it also isolated her from her target. June bit her lip and surveyed the scene that she’d caused. She tapped her wand against her hand and finally decided to end it, so the tree would have a painless death. June pointed her wand at her ice wall and quickly Banished it towards the tree. It was melted by the flames, but also doused them a little. June finished the job by saying, “Aguamenti Maximus!” and a huge cascade of water flowed down the tree’s boughs, smothering all the fire. That done, June pointed her wand at the soaking wet tree and muttered, “Electrificar (electrify, Portuguese).” A bolt of electricity sprang from the tip of her wand and landed on the tree. Conducted by the water soaked into the tree, the electricity raced through the tree and when it was all over, the tree was little more than a large pile of ash. June frowned sadly at the pile and waved her wand, murmuring quietly, “Fleurs (flowers, French).” A pile of beautiful, non-paint-shooting flowers appeared, spinning in midair. June took them from the air and gently laid them down on top of the pile of ash. That done, June stepped around it and quickly continued on her way, slightly sobered by what she had had to do. 'I hope this test isn't timed,' she thought, quickly skirting a quivering pink flower.

Dueling Experience:I've been in 2 Duelling Tournaments..but i wanst so active on the second. :S

What makes you think you’ll be the next dueling champion? Well...when I get something into my head I'm VERY determined so I will try to win it. Also, I happen to have a competitive...streak. Personality. Lol. Basically I am competitive. Also, I think I have quite a good knowledge of spells from the HP books. And I have a very vivid imagination so will be able to make up some of my own.

Why do you think you’ll win? Uh..basically what I said above. I mean...aren't they the same question? Also, despite the fact that I don't have THAT much experience I know how things work. Also..I know how to have fun!! (Which is really what all this is about...right?)

1. A tiny vial of Pain Potion, with about three swallows of potion inside. One swallow will alleviate even the most extreme pain to a dull thud for up to four hours.
2. A small vial containing liquid essence of Alihotsy leaf.
3. A small canister containing powdered Billywig stings.

Attire: Gray robes, good for blending in. Dragonskin boots. Besides for the fact that they are really strong and aren't affected by most spells, plants and animals; they were given to me by my grandma and I always feel confident when I wear them. My hair is pulled back in a ponytail so that it doesn't get in my eyes.

Dueling Experience: I didn't take part in the first because I didn't know it existed. I think I found out sometime during the second, so I guess I didn't take part in the second one either...though I might have, I'm not sure. But anyway I definitely took part in the third and I won second place.

What makes you think you’ll be the next dueling champion?
Well, it isn't so far up from second place to first...it's definitely doable. A challenge I look forward to leaving far behind.

Why do you think you’ll win?
Because I am skilled and determined and I won't let anyone get the better of me. Also because I have a vivid imagination. XD

Sample Post:

Streamers walked up to the dueling room, her footfalls echoing slightly in the corridor. There was no sound from inside the room, and she pushed lightly on the door. It swung open easily and she looked about sharply--the room appeared deserted. Lit torches hung on the walls and shadows flickered in the corners. "Enchante Revelio," (Reveal magic) she murmured, flicking her wand at the at the entrance. The blue bolt of light shot clean and true into the room and ricocheted off the walls before vanishing. Very good then. Streams decided that there were no spells guarding the door and strode in, keeping a sharp lookout.

A gray mouse skittered across the floor and Streams jumped. It disappeared into a corner and she lit her wand with a muttered "Lumos." The torchlight made her slightly uneasy. She thought she detected a movement out of the corner of her eye, and reflexively she shouted, "Protego!"

The room was silent and empty and yet Streams couldn't relax. She always trusted her intuition and something was telling her that this room was not all that it appeared to be. Then there was a small rustling sound. Standing absolutely still, she listened. After a few moments she felt the smallest tickle on her knee...she almost shook it off, glancing down at her dragonskin boots--and then she gasped.

"Taglio! Taglio!" (cut--Italian) she yelled, her wand aimed at her feet. Dark green leaves were curling up her legs, her boots were completely covered in some sort of yellowish secretion that was leaking out of them. Her spells destroyed some of the leaves but they were growing so quickly...they couldn't hurt her feet in the boots but the boots only reached till her knees. Bracing herself, she twirled her wand and said loudly, "Sfera del fuoco!" (fire ball--Italian)

A blast of heat and flame surrounded her legs, and the leaves withered and died. Her boots were not damaged in the slightest, but the hem of her robe caught fire and Streams' wand flashed through the air as she swept it at her robes, saying, "Aguamenti."

Trying to catch her breath, Streams stumbled against a wall and slid to the floor in a sitting position. She would dry her robes as soon as she was breathing normally again, because the wet robes would weigh her down. But now there was no doubt that Streams was not alone...

Chris walked into the duelling room. He saw that he was the only one there, unless they were invisible, but he would be able to see them thanks to his magical contacts. He lifted his wand and shouted, "Sitio del hielo" (Ice Room) and the room was covered in ice. Then he pointed his wand towards the ice on the floor.He shouetd, "Hielo Sheild" (Ice Sheild) and a huge block of ice popped out of the ground and blocked him from anything. The ice was clear so he could see through it to see any magic being done. He then pinted his wand at the sheild and said, "Resistente al fuego" (Fire Resistant) and the sheild glowed and then turned back to normal. He then waited for the oponent.

Kikso opened the door and entered the room,it was so dark so she casted "Lumos" and a light came out of her wand,she pointed her wand around her to see if there is anyone in the room,because she felt like someone is watching her.Then she heard a sound like lighting fire,and saw alot of candles in the middle of the room are lighted,so she said "who is there?"and she kept looking around her,and she noticed that there is another door in the room so she went closer to it.Suddenly the door opens and kikso gets hit and fall on the floor.

Then she stood up fast looking infront of her to see a boy that looks evil,he was looking at her with alot of hate,so she started walking backwards and she knew this boy wanted to hurt her,so she said "Nox" and the light coming out of the wand is off,then she saw the boy getting out his wand and she said so fast "Protego"to protect herself if he attacks her,then he pointed his wand at her,but kikso was faster than him and she casted "Expelliarmus" and his wand flew away from his hands.

But he looked at her angrily and ran to get his wand and he got his wand and pointed it at her,but again she was faster and casted "Levicorpus" and she watched him going up in the air,then she said "that will teach you not to try to hurt me again",and he said "let me down or I'll kill you".

So kikso said and you are still talking then take this "Langlock" and his tongue got glued to the roof of his mouth,then kikso said"That's better,now you will wait until someone come and get you down.I'm sorry for this but u made me do it".Then kikso noticed his wand is still in his hand and he pointed it at her trying to think of a spell,but kikso again was faster and she casted "Expelliarmus" and his wand fell from his hand.Then she went to the door and found out that it is locked,she casted"Alohomora" and the door opened and kikso left the room.

Wand: N/A (same as above ^^), but I know that my core is Unicorn tail hair and the wood is Willow.

Favorite Spell: My favorite spell is definitely my sense sharpening one. I use a few languages while dueling, but am fond of Arabic so will use that one for this term. This was the first spell I performed in a duel, if I remember correctly (and my opponent didn’t respond *is still miffed about that*), and I’ve used it in a few since. This is my favorite because of it being so useful- it heightens all of my senses so that I have the upper hand, at least in the beginning of a duel, unless my opponent happens to perform a similar spell.

Magical Item(s): Well…I’ll have my wand…

And, in addition, I’ll have along my trusty broomstick (*polishes*), and I might as well keep a healing potion on hand as well! Just in case…

Attire: My usual clothing for the duels is either my school uniform or a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I’ll go with the uniform for this term, because the house spirit being shown lately is overwhelming and I would love to add a bit more Raven-ness to it. The uniform consists of a just-above-the-knee length pleated skirt, plaid with Ravenclaw blue and grey, and white knee highs and black Mary Janes complete my bottom half. On top I wear a white blouse rolled up to the elbows and Ravenclaw tie, furthermore showing my pride at being in the noble house of Ravenclaw. My hair is tied back in a high ponytail or in a braid so it’s not in my face, and that’s everything!

Dueling Experience: I have participated in the past two dueling tournaments.

What makes you think you’ll be the next dueling champion? I believe I can be the next champion because I participate in every duel with creativity and try to be as prompt as possible. I consider myself moderately experienced with the art of dueling which should help me against opponents, and I don’t mind researching spells to find the perfect ones for dueling!

Why do you think you’ll win? I think I’ll win this term because of the reasons stated above, and because, well…I’m a Ravenclaw…

What I was getting at is that we Ravens are known to be intelligent (a vast knowledge of spells, perhaps?) and witty (able to come up with plans on the fly to get out of a tricky situation?)- two great traits to have during a duel.

Whipping out a hair tie, Elana threw her hair back into a messy ponytail and eyed the door in front of her so tall that she had tilt her head back to see the top. She patted her side to make sure that the tiny flask of healing potion in her pocket was there and intact, tightened her grip on the broom in her left hand, and the wand in her right. Unable to see if there was anyone inside yet, Elana decided to perform some basic defense spells before entering the possibly already dangerous arena. She lovingly lay the broom down at her feet and tried to slow the beating of her excited heart as she raised her wand.

“ (sharpen my senses,” she began, the familiar spell working its magic as usual. Already she was more aware of the things going on around her that before she had been immune to- the soft rustle of a cloak moving across the floor inside, accompanied by a pair of heels; the scent of the potion in her pocket, sweet and warm; her own skin, prickling with anticipation; and when her eyes popped open, their intense green seeming to glow in the darkness, they clearly saw every whirl, knot, and grain in the door ahead. Smirking slightly, Elana lightly cleared her throat to murmur the next spell. “ (enhance my agility).” This would help in many situations, including the annoying habit some people had of using “Expelliarmus.” With this new agility of hers, she should be able to grasp her wand again before it had gone far.

And last, but most certainly not least, she performed a basic shield charm (“Protego.”), and picked up her broom. She set a hand against the wood, and shoved it open. A bright light met her eyes, a dark shape fled across her line of vision- she tossed her broom aside, focused in on her opponent, pointed her wand and cried, “ (freeze)!”
A blast of icy air shot out of her wand at the other student. If her aim was true, her opponent would soon be frozen- the duel over quickly. But the grin on her face spread as he or she sent a spell right back at her. So it wouldn’t be an easy win. Fine with her.

Cris was walking around in circles in her room, thinking and from time to time stopping to rummage in one of her boxes full with magical objects and take out the one weird thing or the other. When she had finally chosen the ones she would take with her for this term’s dueling tournament, she sat down and looked around. She would miss the safe haven of her home, she thought. Suddenly, her eyes fell onto the calendar next to her computer. It actually took her 2 seconds to realize that that was the day the dueling tournament began. Slapping her forehead for being so forgetful, she grabbed her belly bag, stuffed her shield hat onto her head and ran off.

When she had finally gotten to HE headquarters, where the dueling tournament would take place, she saw some of her friends already at the registration office on the third floor. She winked to them, then went to a free counter, where a friendly helpwitch smiled and gave her a form. After she had hastily filled it out, the witch gestured towards a door at her left, explaining, “Your training room. You may purceed if you feel ready.” “Sure!” Cris answered and hurried to open the door towards this term’s dueling succes.

She had obviously hurried just a tad too much, because she heard the helpwith shout “NO, not that one!”, just after she had opened it and a green slimy … thing … flew onto her face. The door closed behind her, quite literally throwing her into the room. Unable to see anything, she spluttered into the green slime, “A – tr-ap!” and tried to rub it off, but it didn’t work. “Décolle-toi!”, she though on French, pointing to her face and the green mass lost its stickyness, making it easy to get rid of.. It was only then that she could really see what was waiting for her – a 5-metres high troll - and she had a sudden desire to puke when she realised what the green slimy mass had been. Disgusted, she tried not to look at him while she thought of a plan. She saw a notice next to the door and read it: “Room 19 – Experimental breeding of highly toxic trolls. If you are reading this, you’re already in trouble.”.

She rolled her eyes wondering why there weren’t at least some bits of advice on how to defeat the creature, then turned her head to look at it more closely. “Ewww, this guy definitely needs cleaning,” was her conclusion, so she directed a strong jet of water using the Aguamenti spell against the beast that was still surprised to see an intruder. However, the spell only seemed to attract his attention onto her.. and didn’t either wash any of the dirt off anyway. Cris gulped as she heard it roar and saw it walk towards her in determined and angry way. “A diversion! I need a diversion!”, she thought desperately, wishing she had taken a decoy detonator with her. “But you’re a witch, for heaven’s sake!”, a small voice inside her head said. “Oh, right!”. Her eyes scrutinized the room until they fell upon a broken plastic chair in a far corner. “That’s it!”, she thought and whispered “Puissante bombe!” (Powerful bomb, French), pointing her wand towards it.

The next second, she threw herself to the floor to avoid the various other small objects and bones of dead rats that the explosion had caused to fly through the room. There was a loud bang and a flash of orange light, then the room was silent again for a split second – until the troll had realised what had happened and roared even louder, this time heading for the corner the explosion had come from. “How stupid,” Cris thought sighing and wiping her forehead with the back of her hand but her rest wasn’t long, as it was soon clear to her that this was her chance – the troll had gone into the corner to inspect the explosion place .. errr… bang his fists against the wall.

“My only chance is to weaken him!” she reasoned and threfore shouted the French spell “Seringue gigantique!”. A huge syringe appeared, which she directed – with the help of “Wingardium Leviosa” – towards the most vulnerable-looking visible bodypart of the troll: its neck. She used the same spell to maneuvre the syringe further on and slowly suck out the troll’s dark green blood. It was a tricky task, as the beast was still raging and it required all of her calm not to run away when the troll had realised she was actually the one controlling the syringe. What she was hoping was that the troll would faint, as it often happened to people who lost too much blood in one go. Then it happened: she the troll’s skin grow paler – a paler green, that is – and at the same time he grabbed the syringe and tried to pull it out, but Cris was skillfully holding it in place with her Wingardium Leviosa spell. She was observing how its movements were growing weaker by the minute and indeed – it wasn’t long until it hit the wall and crashed.. right through it, falling from the third floor and hitting the ground with a loud thud.

“Mmmm – oups?” Cris thought while approaching the hole in the wall and looking down. “Well, that’s that then, I guess..” She studied the all closer and discovered it was also thinner than normal in areas next to the hole. There was the logic explanation for the troll’s breaking it: it had already been half-destroyed by the explosion and only needed a small impact in order to break.

Just as Cris was thus analysing the damage she had done, the helpwitch from the counter burst into her room, shocked by what she saw. “Oh my – shouldn’t have let this happen…” she muttered and looked at the hole through the wall. She shook her head, sent a few interdepartamental flying memos without really concentrating, then shook Cris’ shoulders a few times asking, “Are you ok? .. you look bad…” Cris nodded and asked in her turn, “This wasn’t the actual test battle room, was it?” When the witch explained it wasn’t, it had been such a great mistake, she was so sorry etc, Cris stopped her – “Sorry Madam – do I need to pass the test in another room now?”. She was reliefed to find out that no, of course not child!, and hurried away, not looing back.

Still, she was curious to find out just about how bad she looked like and stopped at the bathroom. When she saw her face, she groaned. It was green and there were little pustules growing on it. She then understood why the shield has said “highly toxic”. “This is gonna take a lot of Clearasil”, she thought in a resigned way. “Or maybe a lot of effort to convince people it’s actually halloween,” she added to herself and giggled.

What makes you think you’ll be the next dueling champion?I have taken many classes that I believe will give me a huge advantage like for example my animagus training. I might use a lot of defensive spells but I will attack if that is what it will take to win.

Why do you think you’ll win? I made it to the third round in the last tournament and that was when I didn’t know what I was doing. Im sure that with the knowledge I have gained last year I could use this year to defeat my opponents.

Stephy slowly pushed the door open a crack and looked to see if there where any other duelers already there but she was to her horror that the room was pitch black. She pulled her wand from the depths of her robes and whispered “Lumos” into the sea of darkness. The tip of her wand suddenly started to glow, allowing Stephy to see what laid a few feet in front of her. It didn’t light up the whole room but at least she wasn’t totally blind. With this thought in her mind, Stephy pushed the door all of the way open and slowly entered the room with her wand pointing towards the ground.

The first thing that she noticed unusual about the room was that the floor felt soft instead of hard. Taking a closer look she was that it wasn’t stone but it was in fact ground. She saw the grass creeping up around her shoes and as she looked farther ahead of her she saw what appeared to be a tree a few yards in front of her. So it’s a forest setting is it?[/] Stephy thought to herself as she neared the tree but on her way over there she felt her left leg leave the safety of the ground and quickly shoot up into the air. What is happening? Stephy thought to herself as she dangled a few feet in the air looking for the culprit. It must be the other dueler hiding somewhere and by the looks of things he probably used the Levicorpus spell Stephy thought to herself as she raised her wand. Theres only one way out of this[/i]. Stephy then whispered so that no one would be able to hear her unless they stood a few inches beside her. “Liberacorpus” She felt the tight grip on her ankle leave and then felt the rush of the wind as she tumbled to the earth but luckily she wasn’t too far from the ground or she would have had received some serious injury.

Brushing herself off, Stephy held up her wand and squinted her eyes as she looked for the person who sent the spell towards her. There was just too many trees in her way and also the pitch black room didn’t help her either. I sure do wish that I would have had brought my glasses. They would have had allowed me to see as if it was daylight Stephy thought to her self as she stumbled through the room looking to see if she would ever find anyone else in this room.

She continued on through the room, bumping into a tree here and there but after a few minutes of this Stephy grew tired of not being able to see what was happening. Turning to the nearest tree to her she pointing her wand at it and said “flamma” (flame in Latin) and she watched as the tree burst into flames. She then quickly shouted “postulo” (contain) and she knew that this spell would stop the fire from spreading to any of the other trees in the room. Looking around she now saw that the was able to see much farther than with the aid of her wand. It didn’t take more than five minutes for Stephy to find the other dueler, they where sitting in the tree next to the one that she had just lit.

Stephy quickly raised her wand towards the tree they where sitting on and shouted “inhorresco” (shake) and she watched as the tree swayed from side to side trying to knock off the person that sat in its higher branches. After a couple seconds the dueler lost their grip and fell to the ground where Stephy heard a sickening thud. Stephy rushed over to them as they tried to get back to their feet but she was too quick and with a flick of her wand and a shout of “Locomotor Mortis” the other dueler’s feet and arms snapped to his side making it so that they wouldn’t be able to move even if they tried.

Magical Item(s): Jessica has a lucky tutu which supplies her with power from within. Its unknown if she thinks it’s from the tutu or just all in her imagination. She is also supplied with a Magical pillow for falling great distances, and a spare wand incase something happens to this one.

Attire: I’ll be wearing my lucky pink tutu; this tutu supplies me with power and strength from within. But don’t start laughing at me yet, for this tutu has power that still isn’t known today. It was passed on down my family line, and has said to have been worn by my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandmother, whom was a Headmaster at Hogwarts; way back in the day. I don’t really think I will be the next duelling champion but I will try if anything I will get it through my determination. One factor that may help is that I am very active so I can keep on posting even if the one before was an utter disaster instead of having to wait until the weekend to post it and cramping it all into one post. I will also try to be as creative as possible.

I walked slowly toward the dark wooden door that lead to the room where my duel would be taking place, my footsteps echoing through the corridor as I hummed lightly to myself to hide how nervous I felt. Not nervous about the duel really - I was used to duelling and enjoyed it quite a bit, but I remember my last duel and what had been waiting for me on the other side of the door. Taking a deep breath as I stood before the door, I wrapped my fingers tighter around my wand and slowly turned the doorknob, pushing it open and breathing in a sigh of relief when I saw the room was empty. I was the first to arrive there.

Quickly, I entered the room and closed the door behind me, glancing around, remembering that the first stage of a duel was to take in the surroundings. I was standing in a rather large, square shaped room. This was not enough. I pointed my wand at one of the walls, murmuring: "расширьте" (Expand in Russian). Instantly, the floor started to shake as the wall moved further away from me, until I yelled "στάση!" (Stop in Greek), my wand still pointing. Sure enough, the wall slowed and came to an alt, making the room much bigger than it was at first, rectangular instead of square now. "Alright, so let the work begin," she said to herself with a small smile.

She pointed her wand to the ground and whispered "حالة نموّ خضراء" (Green growth in Arabic) and lines of trees and bushes started growing unnaturally fast, in straight lines, all over the room. When they reached the ceiling, the trees' branches and leaves casting a shadow over the entire room, she pointed forward again, saying: "forma del laberinto" (Maze form in Spanish). The floor, or what there was left of it, started shaking once more as the trees and bushes moved along the place, reorganizing in a gigantic maze. Now, while her opponent would be trying to get out of there, and to reach her side, she'd have the time to think of what to do then. She laid her cloak on the floor and sat on it, waiting.

A retractable magical whip that can either hurt or heal according to the feelings of the person who wields it. A potion of mixed antidotes that can heal poison, mind tampering, and paralysis. It's main purpose is to protect against others from entering the mind and it contributes to boosting one's elemental magic, particularly fire, water, and wind.
My robes are fire resistant and partially able to withstand the cold. Under my robes I have comfortable light clothing. My pants are black and comfortable and my shirt is black with bits of dark green along the sleeves. My clothes are tight and fit my body well and there is a very small chance of then snagging or getting caught on anything.

I entered the dueling room with a confident stride. I wasn't going to show my opponent that I was nervous. I could feel the tension in the air and the knot in my stomach was tightening more.

"So you think you can duel me?" said the voice of my opponent.
"Of course." I replied confidently.And I pulled out my wand and held it in my hand.
I barely had time to gather myself before he flung the first spell at me.
I jumped to the side and his spell hit a pillar to my left, leaving a large crack in it.
"That was too close." I mumbled then it was my turn and so I swung my wand from left to right and shouted, "天井の攻撃!" (Ceiling attack-japanese) And watched the ceiling above my opponent break apart and crash down upon him. He managed to avoid much of the attack except for one scratch above his right brow. He looked none too happy; and let me know it by shooting at me with the stunning spell. I needed a shield so I waved my wand again and shouted, "燃えるような盾!" (Flaming shield-jap) and a shield made of fire appeared in front of me, obstructing and blurring the view of me from my opponent. That was useful as now I had a chance to concoct some sort of strategy that might take my opponent by surprise.
He then shifted into the form of a bull and began to charge towards me. My shield was only temporary, and it was already beginning to fade. I'd only conjured it to stall and give me time to think of what to do.

And then just before the bull charged me, he stopped and stomped the ground loudly rattling it. Before I knew what was happening, a whole was forming in the ground right below my feet and then I was falling.

I reached up, my nails digging into the rough earth as the ground below me fell into the swelling darkness. I was losing my grip fast. I had to keep focused and so I muttered the phrase, "セービングの木のツル." (Vines of the saving tree-jap) And thick brown vines began to slither out from between my fingers in the earth and slowly began to entertwine with each other, stretching upwards back into the dueling room where my opponent was waiting.
I grabbed onto the vine tree that had been formed. At first the vines were slippery and I felt I would fall. But then I slowly began to climb up, making my way a little at the time.

Once I was back at the top, and on solid flooring, I immediately pointed my wand at the vine tree that had formed and then at my opponent "彼を攻撃しなさい!" (Attack him-jap) and the vine tree whipped around, lunging for my now surprised opponent. I watched at it picked him up and flung him around like he were a toy on a string. I laughed. It was a funny sight to see.

as i walked into the room i heard a voice shout from the corner as the door behind me slmaed and lacked as a monster of a what i thought to be a man whioch turned out to be a man and unfornatly for me my first challenge in the tournement.
as he shouted "your going down " as he charged at me i waved my wand franticly as i said "muertos im" (im dead in spanish) as i drank a little of my calming potion and strifed to the right as threw over a table for ccover as i could hear the wood burn from the table as the preaseure pushed on it from the onslaght of magic comeing from my challenger. i quickly stood up and shouted "Conjunctivitis Curse "as he shot random shots sending bits opf the eling above me down i had to think quickly as a blast from his wand hit me just below the left shoulder i screamed and with all the force i could pointed my wand and firmly stated "Levicorpus" followed by "Locomotor Mortis" seeing as my oppanet was diabled hanging with his feet stuck togather i limped to my opanet andf said i win as i walked to the nurse and let him drop on the ground free knocking him uncounciousby the time i left the room

“Diamond Dust Revolution ” .

Diamond dust is the name commonly used to refer to a ground-level cloud composed of tiny ice crystals. This meteorological phenomenon is also referred to simply as ice crystals.

Diamond dust is similar to fog in that it is a cloud based at the surface; it differs from fog in two main ways. Generally fog refers to a cloud composed of liquid water while diamond dust forms directly as ice. Also, fog is a dense enough cloud to significantly reduce visibility, while diamond dust is usually very thin and may not have any effect on visibility (there are far fewer crystals in a volume of air than there are droplets in the same volume with fog).

Because diamond dust does not always reduce visibility it is often first noticed by the brief flashes caused when the tiny crystals, tumbling through the air, reflect sunlight to your eye. This glittering effect gives the phenomenon its name since it looks like many tiny diamonds are flashing in the air.

A cotton dark-green full-length robe with silver embroidered velveteen cuffs and separate hood trimmed in silver and black. Runes alongside the cuffs saying “God Protection”.

Runes are very powerful these ones will protect me of minor spells or help me to more easily dodge them. The hood will also partially cover my face, hiding my feelings so my opponent will not guess my next move. Also de robes are perfect to carry my magical items with me.

I’ve won the last tournament so if I can do it once, why not twice?

I think I’ll win because I’m very creative and I always surprise my enemy. I’m also a very resourceful person I can use both the environment in my favor as my enemies spells and moves against them. My intelligence and sharp-thinking makes me a very dangerous and powerful opponent.

Raistlin was calmly walking the corridors of HE heading to the duel rooms. He was checking the inside pockets of his dark-green robes to see if his magical items were safely kept. He finally reached the duel chambers. To his surprise he saw this round he’d not go against any of his real opponents, it was more for him to show his abilities and how he duels.

Raistlin stepped into one of the empty duel rooms. ~Okay for this I’ll not need my items, they shall be kept to used in a real opponent I don’t want to show too much now.~ He was also ready to try some spell he’d been working on. He was ready to rock on! ~If they want to see my abilities I shall show them~

“Hum... which shield is the most adequate to what I’m going to do?” Raistlin muttered.

~It must kept me dry and also protect me from the heat.~ he thought

“Oh I know BREZZA DI VENTO MERIDIONALE (South Wind Breeze in Italian)!” He spelled pointing the wand to himself and then a cool southern breeze revolved around him “Nice!”

~Now I need physical protection~ he thought seriously

Once again he pointed the want towards him and casted “DRACHENHAUT (Dragon Skin in German)!” ~This shall give me a good and flexible protection~ Raistlin thought while stretching his hands to test his new skin

Then he started the second stage of his plan. This time he waved his wand around the room and spelled “AMAZONIA ARBOLAN (Amazonia Forest)!” from every hole in the room exotic plants emerged covering the whole room transforming it into a tiny humid and hot forest. The room was now a typical rainforest, hot and humid but thank to his previous protection he was fine.

“No forest is complete without animals!” he said “CHAÎNE ANIMALE (Animal Chain in French)!” all sort of wild animals filled the room from dangerous black panthers, to vicious snakes, to tiny beetles.

Pointing the wand to himself Raistlin casted “AROMA ANIMAL NATURAL (Natural Animal Scent in Portuguese)” that way he was now in perfect harmony with the environment, though the animals would consider anyone else a threat!

Raistlin smiled “Hum... Should I... Shouldn’t I?” he was trying to decide if he’d put a trick or not “Well just for fun. DAS BRENNEN VON KÄLTE (Burning Cold in German)!” he aimed for the doorknob. Anyone who’d touch it would get its hand burned and useless. Raistlin grinned.

“And to finish TUTELA OCCULTUS (Protections Hidden in Latin)!” he was now invisible as well as the breeze that protected him from the heat.

Finishing this Raistlin shouted “ARE YOU SATISFIED?” he hoped for something to happen or someone to tell him the round was over. Then from the other side of the door he heard “Bombarda”.

The door was blasted into pieces and a student Raistlin had never saw entered the room. After a closer look Raistlin noticed the boy should be foreigner. But before Raistlin could conjure more thought the boy talked.

“This is a nice settlement you have here. I’m a Durmstrang student. Elfie kindly hired my services to test the students who are about to enter the duels tournament. She wants me to separate the strong from the weak. The wit ones from the clumsy ones. Let’s see which one are you. Watch me and you might learn something”

Then quickly he conjured a snake to protect him and a rubber shield to bounce spells back. He followed this by conjuring a rain and Raistlin couldn’t believe so the boy ended it with a tornado.

Raistlin was shaking his head during all the time noting to himself the existing flaws and now he was finally ready to teach the boy a lesson.

To the coming tornado Raistlin raised his wand and claimed “ВЕТРЫ СМЕШИВАЮЩИЕ (Winds Mixing in Russian)!”. The tornado mixed with the breeze he had conjured to keep him and cool and reinforced his protection.

Raistlin laughed “Mwhahahah. Thanks for the tornado it shall make a good protection. Now now now Bombarda? How rude, you’ll learn subtlety is far more amusing and effective. Spells like Bombarda are for farm people and thick heads that can’t think or make up a strategy so run blasting everything in their way hoping to win.” Raistlin was enjoying his lecture.

Raistlin took one step forward “What has really surprised me is this rain you conjured. You need to learn how to use the environment whatever it may be into your favor by knowing its properties and characteristics. You see the rain might protect you for a moment but soon it will contribute to the room’s humidity and increasing heat, I supposed you’re feeling it already.” The room was also filling with vapor caused by the evaporation of the water in the room.

Grinning Raistlin said “I don’t know if you noticed but I only performed protecting spells, till now you haven’t still forced me to attack you”.

“If you were supposed to be a threat they must be joking or they’re underestimating me. It shall be me who’ll teach you.” Raistlin continued with a mocking tone.

Then Raistlin’s face darkened and become serious “A serpent conjured by Serpensortia is easily banished EVANESCO!” the serpent vanished in flames.

“My animals are getting lazy and fat they need exercise ATTACCO DI CATENA ANIMALE (Animal Chain Attack in Italian)!” all the animals looked at the boy and started heading towards him. The boy’s shield would repel spells but not living beings. Raistlin smirked.

He had not finished using the environment in his favor “FLORE VIVANT (Flora Alive in French)” every plant in the room could now move at will and if the boy got rid of the animals they’d be ready to attack her.

Raistlin decided to make things even harder “NEVOEIRO CERRADO (Thickening Fog in Portuguese)!” the vapor in the room become an impenetrable by the naked eye fog. That way he wouldn’t be able to see from where would the animals and plants attack.

Through the fog Raistlin said “You are not ready yet for me to attack you directly. So before you can face me you need to empower yourself. Enjoy all the obstacles and good luck.”

Finally Raistlin made his final move. Pointing his wand to the tornado he shouted “TORNADOMAUER (Tornado Wall in German)” instead of whirling around him the tornado formed a wall dividing the room in two. If the boy passed from the fauna and flora he’d still had to pass through it.

Attire: Black robes most of the time ,but a spell can be said to change the color to what is around them. A wizard hat that helps tells one advise ,and helps one think on what they have to do. Underneath the robes is leather armor for curse impact's, when the person falls they will not hit as hard as with just regular robes.
Dueling Experience: This will be my first dueling ,but I do a lot of RPG work and I'm a member of the Order and have so far done one battle.

Sample Post: It was a dark night when I was heading back to my mountain home when I ran into three death eaters... " we know that you stole something of ours." They said... " Yea well it had to happen... you people are pure evil and you had to go to Azkaban.." Zelda said. " Well see you stole our dignity that night so we think it is fitting that we still some of yours... so let's make this easy so that you don't have to suffer to mush... hahahah..." They laughed under there breath... " That will not be happening tonight gentlemen" Zelda said now pulling out her wand. " Bindema!!!" Two of the men shouted out a spell that would bind Zelda with vines so that she couldn't move. " No... " Zelda said as she ducked. Zelda was doing good considering that she was just 14 and she was fighting three death eaters ,so she decided that her best bet was to run far enough ways so that she could use the delmumentator to get to a safer place. She had to do something now or they would get her so she decided to use a spell her grandfather had taught her... " locoslowmo!" She said and made the three men where they where very slow with moving... the spells where the same though... And she ran... When she thought that she was far enough away she pointed her wand and tryed to bind them ,but she was almost hit with a toucher curse trying to do it... what was she to do.. She had to leave ,but these where death eaters. " Expecto Petronum" She said and a bird like patronus went off with a message to a few of her older Order friends in no time they where there and she used her delumenator to get out of there. This was truly a tough night.

Some comfortable running shoes so I can move around easily and my hair is carefully arranged in a tight pony tail so it wouldn’t interfere with my sight

Dragon watched her opponent whirl around shooting a stream of curses at her. Ducking and weaving she shouted “Arca” forming a temporary box around her opponent. While her foe was trying to get out, she conjured a dog and told it to go bite the boy. When the box finally shattered, her opponent was leaped upon by the ferocious dog as Dragon trained her wand on him and said “Congelo” he managed to dodge it and shoot a stunner at her. “Protego” she yelled and the spell bounced off.
Now waiting a second she yelled “congelo” again. This time catching him unaware and the spell made him unable to move his legs. Yelling “attonbitus” which is a higher level of the stupefy spell, she was surprised when the boy twisted to the side and avoided the spell.

Yelling ‘Ligo’ strong ropes flew over and bound him up and with her opponent unable to move, she yelled ‘attonbitus’ again and knocked him out.
