Weather: The cold weather has finally taken a turn for the worse, snow has been falling for hours and it doesn't look like it's about to stop!

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie hurried down her dormitary stairs silently cursing her non exisitant alarm clock. As she entered the common room and made her way to the fat lady her dorm mates rushed up to her with toast in their hands. Katie grabbed the already butterede toast and shoved it into her mouth on her way down to the locker rooms. As she said good-bye to her friends, currently wishing her luck she pushed open the door to an empty room.

Fearing the worst she grapped her robes and pulled them over her head covered in pillow-styles hair. With a quick wave of her wand she detangled it and then spend the better part of a minute pulling it back into a long french braid. Then as she raced around the room looking for her broom she remebered she was a witch and summoned it with the flick of a wand. Then sprinting onto the field she relazied she was the first one there and there was no need to rush. Now kicking herself, not literally, she hopped onto her broom to take a few woarm up laps.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

Rubbing her eyes yawning, Cris finally got out of bed, so sleepy that she didn't even notice she was dragging her blanket along the dormitory floor. This time it wasn't a party that had made her oversleep, but learning, as the coming of winter also reminded her of her approaching exams. She looked out of the window and the marvelous white view was all she needed to wake up, open her eyes wide ... and happily whisper "Ooooooh!" for 5 whole seconds. Snow, something so beautiful... and it didn't look like it was going to stop soon, either. Snow, snowballs, snitches.. QUIDDITCH!

"Oh my gooooood, out of the waaaay!", she scremed as she ran out of the Common Room, already fully dressed up for Quidditch, Seeker gloves and warm clothing included. Her broom had lately been through a complete check-up, so she was quite sure to have no problems with it, even on that weather.

When she finally reached the Quidditch pitch, she realised she was only the second. She flew up to her teammate Katie. She merrily greeted her, with her breath turning into white clouds each time she spoke. However, she didn't feel the cold - yet. And the snowflakes were so pretty, if you caught them and looked at them closer! Too bad only that there were so many of them, they would certainly have trouble spotting the balls.

"Katie, d'you think you'll be able to see the Quaffle??", she enquired worriedly, "What about if we did a small test? I'll just fly away and you shout at me to stop when you can't see my red hat anymore?". With these words, she slowly flew away, praying that Katie's shout would come much later. "It's lucky that the Quaffle and the Bludgers are so big and have such spottable colours," she thought, "but it will be much more difficult to see the Snitch.... "

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie had been so happy that she wasn't late she forgot to realize that snow was falling thick and fast. It's amazing what lack of sleep can do to you. As she was completing her third lap when she noticed a red hat floating in the distance. AS it got nearer she realized it was her teammate Cris. Thyey hugged and just as Katie was starting to realize thr cold and put on her gloves Cris spoke

"Katie, d'you think you'll be able to see the Quaffle??", she enquired worriedly, "What about if we did a small test? I'll just fly away and you shout at me to stop when you can't see my red hat anymore?".

Then she floew away. The snow was really coming down hard now and Katie was calling to her teammate much sooner then she wanted to.

"Sorry, but it's really coming down hard now!" Katie said in apology when Cris reacher her again.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

Cris was barely some 50m away, that she heard Katie call her back. "What, already?", she thought disappointedly. Indeed, the snowfall seemed to have intensified...

"Sorry, but it's really coming down hard now!" , Katie explained and Cris shook her head. "Why are you apologising for? It's this stupid ... snow! All nature's fault, I'm tellin' ya!". She snorted. She loved the snow all right, but it was slowly but surely getting to annoy her. Especially as it was also covering her glasses... she rubbed the snow off them with her gloves, but it didn't help much. Sighing, she wanted to put them into her pocket, but then she had an idea.

"Hey Katie, say... ", she began, "do you happen to remember that spell to heat up things? I think I was mentally absent when we did it in Charms.."

Gryffindor Chaser

As Cris joined her again, Katie was hoping the game would start soon. It was getting really cold!

"Hey Katie, say... ", she began, "do you happen to remember that spell to heat up things? I think I was mentally absent when we did it in Charms.." Cris said to pull Katie out of her temporary lapse of reality.

"Ummm... Nope." Katie replied. But since no one is here I guess I could summon my charms book right?" she said, talking more to herself then to Cris. And without waiting for common sense to penetrate through her frozen mind she raised her wand and shouted through the snow, "ACCIO CHARMS BOOK!"

Even from this distance Katie distinctly though she heard the pang of broken glass and thinking quickly, pointed her wand towards the Gryffindor Tower and said, "REPARO!" Almost as soon as it was said she saw a book come flying at her. She leaped in front of Cris to prevent the reasonably heavy book from crashing into her head.

Then, turning the pages with numb finger she came across the heating spell. "Ahhh.... here it is," she said, "ummm no never mind.. nothing in here about heating things up a bit. Although I do have a freezing charm right here!"

(Gryffindor Keeper)

Amber rushed unto the field. Cringing, she was late. Actually she was a bit past late. She didn't even notice that it was snowing until she felt it falling on her. Wow that was extremely cold. She shivered and looked around trying to see just how much she had missed. It looked like Kate and Cris where there as well as.... Kate and Cris. Where was everyone!?

She kicked off the ground and into the air, flying over to her fellow team mates. "Where is everyone?" she asked them. Though she knew that they probably didn't have much more of a chance of knowing then she did. She sighed, what could they do while waiting for a game to start? Waiting for someone to answer her she thought of possibilities. They could always practice a little, make the best of their time.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

“Remember to brush your teeth! Do all your homework! Study! Remember to bundle up!” June turned, about to enter Hogwarts, and waved at her parents. “I know!” she shouted back to them, rolling her eyes but smiling. With that, she turned once more and followed Professor McGonagall into school, her luggage floating in front of her. “You’ll be wanting to get to the game, I’m sure,” the Professor said with a knowing smile. June grinned and nodded. “Yes Professor,” she replied. Because of delays with Portkeys, June was back at Hogwarts later than planned, and late for a Quidditch game against Ravenclaw. “Well, I’ll put up your bags and you should go Miss Mei.” June blinked and stood still for a moment. She couldn’t believe her luck!

As Professor McGonagall walked off towards Gryffindor Tower, June bounced up and down and as she ran to the Gryffindor Locker Room, she shouted back, “Thank you so much Professor!!!” She ran as fast as she could, and finally reached the Locker Room out of breath. Wincing at the stitch in her side, June pulled on her robes, grabbed her broom, and was about to go onto the Pitch when she realized that she had better ‘bundle up’, as her Mum liked to say. Looking around, June couldn’t find any sweaters.. or gloves… or scarves. Darn it. It was then that she remembered the warming charm Flitwick had taught them, right before June had left. She waved her wand at herself and said, “Estus (heat, Latin).”

That done, she pushed her wand into her pocket and ran out of the room. There was snow… everywhere… Her eyes widened in surprise at all the shiny whiteness… and there was more! Heavy snowflakes fell from the sky and as June mounted her broom and flew into the air, they stuck in her hair, making it look like a blanket of salt and pepper. Thanks to her Warming Charm, she was cold, but not TOO cold. Cris, Amby, and Katie on the other hand, looked as if they were freezing. June waved her wand, repeating the Warming Spell, and steadied her broom as she switched her bat from her left to her right hand. “Hey everyone,” she said. “Where IS everybody else?” From what she could see, which wasn’t much, there weren’t any Ravenclaws in the air, or any other Gryffindors. “They DO know there’s a game on, right?” she said, a bit concerned.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie watched as June and Amber arrived onto the feild where the chaser and Cris had been discussing ways to keep warm. Amber ran onto the feild looking as freezing as Katie felt, so no point in asking her how ot heat things up a bit. Luckily, June showed up looking as warm and toasty as possible. Thankfully she noticed there potential hypothermia and cast her warming spell on them.

"Great!" Katie said in her thanks, "well, I won't be needing this anymore." she said indicating the Charms book still in her hands. So pulling out her wand once again she shrunk her book to minuture size and put in a inside pocket of her robes.

"Now for the game... It doesn't look as though Ravenclaw is going to show up anytime soon, so lets practice some of the techniques we haven't tested yet." Katie suggested, fully aware that because she was neither captain nor co-captain she had no authority to make suggestions.

(Gryffindor Beater)

With a quick sigh, Izzy got up. As she stretched she glanced at her clock. The time she saw made her fall out of bed. "Oh my word!" She exclaimed. She was late, and to think she had actually decided that this time she would be EARLY to the pitch. Izzy raced out of her dorm and grabbed her uniform. As she ran into the locker rooms and put on her uniform, she grabbed her trusty, old broom and beater's bat.

She rushed onto the field. When she was finally up in the air, she realized that it was quite cold. "Just like me to forget a jacket," she muttered bitterly, still shivering. Izzy did some laps around the pitch to warm her self up. When she was slightly warmer she glanced around the pitch and realized that not a lot of people were here. " Oh no, well hopefully they are just late. " Izzy thought. Then Izzy decided that since June was their responsible quidditich captain that June could figure that one out. Izzy went back to doing some simple laps and a couple loops around the pitch.

(Gryffindor Keeper)

Amber stood shivering for a few moments longer, then she was warmer. Although she was thankful, she looked around for the source. Then grinned when she noticed that June had arrived. She shrugged in response to her first question and answered her second. "I don't know, I really hope so."

She noticed that Katie was doing something, she turned to see what it was. She was shrinking her Charms book. She had wondered why she even had a charms book, but hadn't really thought about it that much. Oh well, she listened as Katie made a suggestion. "I agree with Katie," she said. "We can still score some points that way... well theoretically. Besides it couldn't hurt to have some more practice."

She noticed Izzy rush unto the field, looking freezing. Amber turned to June with a nod up at Izzy, wanting to make sure that she got the heating spell also. "Hey June, don't forget Izzy."

(Gryffindor Seeker)

"Ahhh.... here it is," Katie said, "ummm no never mind.. nothing in here about heating things up a bit. Although I do have a freezing charm right here!"

"Oh ok, no freezing charm, please!", Cris said laughing lghtly and rubbed her hands against each other to warm them up.

Then she heard a voice asking "Where is everyone?" and turned around. "AMBY!" she cried joyfully but then closed her mouth again to prevent the cold air from coming into her throat. Luckily, the danger of getting a cold seemed to be gone once she felt a wave of warmth going through her entire body. "JUNEY!", she squealed. "Wow, it seems like we're slowly but surely gathering up!" , she exclaimed. "Oh and - thanks for this!", she added grinning and pointing at her no-longer-red-nose.

Cris turned in place to spot whether any other Gryffies had come and indeed, she could spot, even through the heavy snowfall, a figure dressed in Gryffindor Quidditch robes and carrying a bat. "One plus one makes two... and if Juney's here, that has to be.... IZZY! Hey Izzy, over here!" She had shouted the last words aloud and was waving towards Izzy. While she did that, she also took in the fact that people were discussing about practicing a few moves while waiting for the Ravenclaw team.

"Great idea!", she threw in. "It might even be a very good idea to practice playing on this weather, that way we'll have an advantage in our next winter game, don't you think so? It might also be interesting to test out whether snow has any effect on how the balls fly... I'll volunteer to mime an opposing player, if you'd like to start training." With these words, she grabbed her broom with both hands, signaling that she was ready at any moment.

[Gyrffindor Chaser]

Becca rolled over and yawned slightly. Her radio was on, and it was the main reason she was stirring at that moment. One of her favorite songs was playing. Becca turned over again and looked at her clock. She blinked a few times and then screamed and fell out of her bed. "OH MY GOD!" She pulled herself up on to her knees and smacked herself in the head with the palm of her hand. "I'm going to be late. Again. June. Is going. To. Kill. me."

She sighed and stood herself up. Time to get ready. Why was quidditch so early anyways?!? Why couldn't it be at like five at night? That would be a normal time!! Becca grabbed her clothes and went into the bathroom to change, do her hair, and do her makeup as quickly as possible. As soon as she was ready, she ran out of her dorm, grabbing her shoes and her broom on the way out.

As Becca reached the locker rooms, she started to realize how cold it really was outside that day. And she had thought the last game had been bad! She groaned aloud as she pulled on her quidditch robes. Becca mentally kicked herself for not wearing something like a thick sweater underneath. it was all in the layers...

Becca rushed out of the locker room and was greeted with a large gust of cold, wet air. "Ewww," she complained loudly.

Becca mounted her broom and kicked off. Fluffy, annoying, cold, white snow clouded her vision. "I hate winter! i hate snow!"

Becca was certainly not in a good mood today.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

June smiled at Amber. “Of course not.” She waved to Izzy, who she could barely see through the snow. After alerting her friend, June waved her wand once more, repeating the Warming Charm. "We can still score some points that way... well theoretically. Besides it couldn't hurt to have some more practice." June nodded at Katie and Amber. “You’re right,” she said, smiling through the swirling snow. Looking around, June made a face as she realized that there was only one Chaser, Katie, in the air.

Suddenly, she saw a red/white blur coming towards her! “Becca!!!!” she cried once the blur was close enough to be recognized. Now there were two chasers! June smiled in satisfaction but her smile rapidly became a frown as she realized that Becca was not in the best of moods. Obviously, she didn’t like the snow very much. June, on the other hand, loved the snow and reveled in it… when it wasn’t so cold. She waved her wand, recasting the Warming Charm on her friend.

“So,” June began, “While we’re waiting for everyone else to show up, how about we practice some plays?” She nodded at Cris’s offer to play an opposing player. “That’s a great idea Cris!” With that, June turned her broom, blinked rapidly as snowflakes fell on her face, and dived towards the ground.

She landed gently next to Madam Hooch and said, “Since Ravenclaw isn’t here yet, would it be alright if you released the balls except for the Snitch, so we could practice?” The witch looked unsure as she scanned the sky and looked towards the Ravenclaw Locker Room, but eventually nodded. “But only until Ravenclaw arrives,” she stated. June grinned. “Of course Professor,” she assured her.

The balls were released and the quaffle thrown into the air. June got on her broom and kicked off, back to the group of Gryffies.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie smiled when she saw Izzy and Becca, her fellow chaser, arrive. Once everyone was warmed up and ready to go Katie watched as June volunteered to ask Madam Hooch for the release of the balls. It was good to be on the pitch again even if it wasn't a real game. WHen June returned with the balls Katie spoke up once again. "Does anyone know any plays we haven't tried yet?"

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

June bit her lip at Katie’s words. “There’re quite a few we haven’t tried yet,” she said, “but some of them require three Chasers. However, we could try the Porksckoff Ploy, the Reverse Pass, and the Woollongong Shimmy… Of course, since there aren’t any Ravenclaws in the air, we could also get to work making up our own!” June frowned as she thought, trying to remember some more plays. She turned to the others. “Do you guys remember any others?”

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

As June turned on her broom, searching for a bludger, she suddenly spotted a blur of blue! Finally, a Ravenclaw was in the air! June turned to her teammates and said, “The Ravenclaws have arrived, so now, it’s time to rock!!!” She looked downwards, about to tell Madam Hooch to release the Snitch, when she saw the witch next to an empty case. She must have already released it upon the Ravenclaw’s arrival. June took off, spiraling upwards through the snow, searching for a bludger. Fortunately, a bludger’s black color would be quite distinguishable among the pure white snowflakes.

[Ravenclaw Chaser]

Jumping from his bed, Anthony made a mad dash out of the dorms, not even bothering to get dressed. Oversleeping was one of the few things he did best, however he had no intention of doing it on this day. Many a onlooker raised a brow and laughed as he galloped through the halls in not but his skivvies. He was sure the game had started already, and would no doubt recieve a tongue lashing from his team. It had come to no surprise to find that most of the school had already made their way down to the pitch, which left plenty of room for him to continue his sprint. As he exiting the castle the cold air nearly knocked him on his face. But recovering quickly he made straight for the locker rooms, his adrenaline running freely now. Nearly knocking the door from it's hinges, Anthony busted through into the warmth shelter of his team's locker room, and quickly he threw on his uniform.

As usual his trusty blue and bronze firebolt hung there on the wall, awaiting its master to take them into the sky. Without hesitation he grabbed it, busted through onto the pitch. Gryffindor seemed to be doing well, while only Elana and Rigby were there for the Ravens. Shaking his head, he swung a leg over and kicked off. As he gained altitude, Anthony rolled to his left, the cold wind slicing through his body violently. It would only be a matter of seconds before he got used to it. Finally coming to a hover, he glanced around, looking for the quaffle, but his attention was drawn elsewhere for a moment. He had put his robes on backwards being in such a rush. Shaking his head in disgust, realizing there wasn't much he could do, Anthony prepared himself for the attack when right off the bat a sharp pain stricken his body. A rogue bludger, caught him square in the back.

(Gryffindor Keeper)

Amber grinned as she realized that the Ravenclaws had finally arrived, well atleast a chaser had arrived. Which meant that she now had a job to do. She nodded toward the rest of her team and raced over to the Gryffindor Quidditch hoops. She began circling them as she kept an eye on Anthony, the only one she had to worry about as of this moment in time. She noticed, in amusement, that he had put his Quidditch ropes on backwards. She shook her head and tried not to laugh, it could distract her.

Though as a bludger hit Anthony, she realized two things. one, was that Anthony was having really bad luck. The second was that at the current second, she didn't really have to get ready to make any saves. Though everything could change in a second so she tried to remember the moves that she had been taught in practice.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

Cris was getting ready to follow her teammates to practise some moves when, surprise, surprise - the Ravenclaws started making their appearance! She grinned, waved at them all, then focused on analysing Rigby, who looked very ready for a good snitch race indeed. It had been a long time since their last race and Cris was excited, as she remembered the races against her to be amongst the most fun ones. She flew up to her and teased her jokingly, "Already here, eh? I thought I'd give this up as the most boring game in Quidditch history. The game that ended before it started, you know...". She winked and added, "Come on! Wanna bet I'm faster?".

Cris didn't wait for Rigdy's answer, but accelerated. It wasn't her standard procedure, as she would usually wait at a fixed spot until she saw the snitch but this wasn't a time for prudent moves - there was barely any time left for the game and the visibility was so bad anyway, that she stood a much better chance of getting the snitch if she combined the looking and flying, rather than just staying in one place and waiting for the snitch to appear.

She could already feel the wind soaring around her, but the warming charm June had cast was still protecting her, so there was nothing major to complain about - except maybe the fact that the melted snowflakes from her eyeglasses didn't slide away too quickly. But she wouldn't be seeing much more anyway, considering the heavy snowfall so it didn't exactly matter.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

More blurs of blue dappled with white flew into the air. June began following them, and gradually realized that they were Elana and Anthony. Suddenly, a black ball whizzed right past her, an inch away from her head, and slammed into Anthony’s back! June winced. That must have hurt. However, although she felt bad for the Ravenclaw Chaser, a bludger had revealed itself to her and she wasn’t one for letting opportunities slip away. June turned her broom and chased after the ball, trying to keep an eye on it through the incessant snow. Once again, she was thankful for its distinguishing color.

As she flew after the bludger, her expression became one of frustrated determination. The ball kept darting from left to right, almost like the Snitch in a way, and whenever she was close enough to hit it, it barely evaded her reach. It was almost as if it was playing tag! June let out a sigh of exasperation and bent lower on her broom, reaching out her bat. The bludger darted to the left and June moved her bat, prepared to hit it when it moved right again.

However, the bludger apparently decided to stop following its previous pattern and it suddenly dropped like a stone. Crap. June brought her bat and bat arm closer to her body, pressed herself even more against her broom if that was possible, and dived. For a few moments, she felt as if she was doing a Wronski Feint, Beater style, and her head began to feel a bit wuzzy from the difference in air pressure. Almost there… The bludger seemed to slow down a little, and a smile began to grow on June’s face. This was her moment!

… But the bludger didn’t think so. At the last instant before she brought her bat to hit its surface, the bludger flew in the opposite direction: It flew up, directly at its chaser. “Hey!” June cried in indignant surprise and jerked back, her bat flying up instinctively to block her face. She cringed as a large vibration jarred her arm and looked up at the bludger that was flying away, a bit slower than usual. A grin appeared on her lips as she realized that she had hit the bludger!, despite the fact that is was accidental.

June raced after it and a feeling overcame her: the feeling of confident surety that this time, she would succeed. As she drew level with the evasive ball, she brought her bat up, focused on a the back of a Ravenclaw to her left, and slammed her bat at the bludger. The black ball didn’t have a chance. The instant her bat touched it with all her pent up frustration and confidence, it rocketed off towards Elana, or rather, Elana’s back.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie was estatic when she realized that the Ravenclawes were now arriving. She needed to head into action fast, there wasn't much time left now. She took the quaffle and started towards the Ravenclaw side of the pitch. Since there was no keeper yet she decided it was best to try a new move than to take any cheap shots. However she wasn't sure what to do. Katie looked towards her captains and other chasers for advise.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

June flew away from Elana. A part of her mind wanted to stay, wondering whether the bludger had met its mark, but another part urged her to find another bludger, just in case it hadn’t. The latter part of her mind won. The Gryffindor Beater flew in a grid pattern, hoping to spot a bludger somewhere. A flash of red from below distracted her and she looked down, a sinking feeling occurred in her stomach. Had a Gryffindor fallen?!

June dived instantly, her mind filled with worry, panic having driven everything else away. June reached the red blur and breathed an enormous sigh of relief at the realization that the blur was just the quaffle, getting swept up by a Gryffindor Chaser. Flying next to her friend, June smiled widely and shouted over the swirling snow and wind, “I’ll cover for you!” She flew upwards a little, determined to keep one eye on her friend and the other on the lookout for a bludger.
