Weather: Clear, blue skies, but bitter cold.

Remember to observe the new Quidditch rule: day one is for arriving to the pitch, after which the referee will post and the game can properly begin!

(Gryffindor seeker reserve)

Pamela woke to the sound of her alarm going off. It took her a minute to find it. She had begun putting it farther from her bed and covering it so the glow didn't bother her. She resisted the urge to hit the snooze button. After popping in the shower, she headed to the great hall to get some breakfast. This was her first game for the house team, and she was quite nervous. She managed to swallow a few bites of egg and a piece of toast.

She made her way down to the pitch, trying to remember to breathe. She was nearly to the locker room when she realized she had forgotten her Firebolt. "Stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid...." She muttered to herself the whole way back to her dorm. Finally she was in the locker room, dressed, and with all her gear. This was actually a rather impressive feat. She went ahead and bundled up the best she could without dramatically affecting her speed.

When she walked out to the pitch she saw that she was the first one there. Mounting her broom, she flew up high into the air and did some warm-up laps around the field.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie awoke to her dormmate shouts. A she rubbed her eyes and sat up she heard distinct shouts of victory! "Did I miss it!?" she shouted angerly. "No, that's why were celebrating, we got you up on tome!" replied her roomie. "Oh," Katie answered, a bit grumpily.

She made her way down to the quidditch pitch eating some toast on the way. She needed some nourishment. This game wasn't going to be easy. When she was in the locker room and fully chnaged into her robes she briaded her hair once again wondering absentmindidly about the oncoming game. She knew they could win, but would they? The usual nerves started to build up, but then died down as she stepped onto the pitch.

She mounted her broom and kicked off joining Pamela in the air.

(gryffindor seeker)

"Hi Katie!" Pamela shouted to her teammate. "Ready to win this thing?" Pamela had seen her friend Cassie take a seat in the stands. She chanced a wave back to her, then laughed as she heard Cassie's sign meow. That probably wasn't supposed to happen, of course, but it did take the edge off. "Should we warm up or something while we wait for the game to start?" Pamela asked Katie.

(Referee)

Amy flew onto the pitch, ready to start the game.

She clutched the quaffle under one arm and flew to the center of the pitch. She blew her whistle and yelled,

"Let the game begin!"

She then threw the quaffle into the air. Which team's chaser would be the first to get it?

Gryffindor Chaser

Regardless of the fact that no memebers of the opposing team were there, not to mention the missing 5 or so players from her team the quaffle was thrown into the air. Katie easily swooped down and reacherd it, with her braids flying beghind her in the breeze.

Deciding it wouldn't be very sportman-like of her, she decided not to score an easy goal in Hufflepuff's net. Instead, Katie turned around and asked Pamela what they should do.

(gryffindor seeker)

"Honestly," Pamela began, "I'm not sure. I don't think it would be very fair to start scoring. Of course I was going to use the time to search for the snitch."

This was an interesting way for Pamela's first house match to go. She hoped other people would start showing up soon. Her anxiety was beginning to rise as there were no Hufflepuffs and only one other Gryffindor.

"Do you have any ideas?" She added.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Schuyler shrugged out of her warm thick downy jacket and into her thin and very un-warm quidditch robes. Grrrrr... she had missed the last game due to being sick, and for some reason, she still didn't feel all that ecovered. Taking one last sip of her scalding hot cocoa and grimacing as it burned its way down her throat, Skie grabbed her broom out of the locker room. Rushing out onto the pitch, she was pushed back by the blinding light of morning. Bracing herself against the sun, Skie blinked a few times to get rid of the spots swimming in her vision. Mounting up on her broom, Skie pushed off with her feet and flew up into the air. Finally, when the sleep left her body and only exhilaration and adrenaline were left, she noticed that Gyffindor already had two players out there... but no Hufflepuffs had arrived yet. "Dude, are you kidding me?" she muttered between clenched teeth, more from the cold than from anger.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

Oh...no.... This was SO not good! June ran around the Gryffindor Locker Room, searching for her Beater's Bat while she checked the clock every few seconds. She was late late late!, and that really wouldn't look good on her record, considering that she was also the co-captain of the team. "Found you!" June said exasperated, as she spied her bat hiding beneath a clump of Gryffindor scarves and retrieved it. "Stupid bat," she muttered under her breath. Now, she was ready to go out and play. Her robes were on, her hair clip was clipped, and her broom was clutched tightly in her left hand. Time to go.

June ran out onto the pitch and cursed under her breath as she saw two Gryffindor players and a Hufflepuff player already in the air. It looked as if the balls had already been released; she hadn't thought she was that late! June sighed and quickly mounted her broom. Oh well... better late than never, as they say. With a quick kick, June shot up into the air and smiled as the familiar feeling of flying came over her. She waved to Katie and Pamela and shouted, "I'm so sorry I'm late!!!"

It was bitterly cold out, especially in the air, and June shivered as she scanned the skies for a bludger. Katie had the quaffle, which was a good thing, and June needed at least one bludger, preferably both, in order to fully protect her.

"Oh thank heavens," Pamela said to herself. Now that a couple more players had shown up, she didn't feel too guilty about going ahead and starting her hunt. It was positively freezing out there. She began to think longingly of her traditional hot chocolate. Unfortunately, she wasn't likely to get one.

She began a sweep around the pitch, eyes wide open and flickering back and forth. "Come out, come out wherever you are," she taunted. She was doing fine, but she was beginning to think of the Hufflepuff beaters' reputation for being a little, shall we say, passionate. She was not looking forward to the thought of pain. Just to make sure, she did a quick check for the bludger behind her. "Good. No sign." Then she continued her search.

(Gryffindor Beater)

Izzy was late, again. She desperately hoped that at least this time there wouldn't be too many players out there. Izzy tripped down the stairs desperately trying to put on her shoes. As she flew in and out of the locker room, grabbing Cleansweep and Beater's bat on the way, Izzy hurridly made her way out to the Quidditich pitch.

As soon as Izzy got out there she breathed a small sigh of relief. Fortunately, most of her teamates were out there, but there was only one Hufflepuff. Still, the game had started, so Izzy mounted her broom, wishing that maybe one of these days she would actually wake up to her alarm clock. Since the balls had been released Izzy scanned the horizon for bludgers. Unfortunately, she was out of luck and saw no bludgers in sight.

"Oh well," she thought, "All I can do is keep on looking."

With that in mind, Izzy set about to lap the Quidditich pitch, hoping to catch that blur of a black bludger.

(Gryffindor seeker)

Pamela continued scanning the pitch for that elusive golden ball. As she was flying fairly near the stands, she saw something. It wasn't the snitch. It was a bludger heading right for her, and very close. "Shoot!" Pamela said as she pulled her broom up hard and fast. She heard the bludger whizz below her. Breathing a sigh of relief, she yelled out, "Found the bludger!" It was a safe thing to do, as the other team's beaters were nowhere in sight.

Kaitlyn ran on to the field know she was late and she took her potion at the goal posts. She looked and it looked like the Griffins where already there. She looked nervously around for her team.

(Gryffindor seeker)

Pamela began to fly as far away from the bludger as possible. Soon she saw a new addition onto the field; it was Streams. Hufflepuff finally had a beater on the field. "Now we're getting started," Pamela said, torn between excitement and a twinge of fear. "Meh. No pain, no gain," she resolved.

Suddenly, she realized she was seeing something in front of her by about 10 feet, that filled her with glee. She'd at last caught a glimpse of the snitch. "There you are. I was beginning to think they'd forgotten you," she muttered as she inched forward. The snitch was stationary, and she didn't want to risk flying too fast. If she played her cards right, she may get an early catch in. No such luck.

She had gotten within only two feet of the snitch when it sped away toward her left. "Fudge!" She said, laughing slightly at the fact that her favorite euphamism was the name of probably the worst minister in the history of magic. The chase was on. Pamela kicked her broom into high gear and began the pursuit. She only had eyes for the tiny, golden ball. The rest of the world had disappeared, as she drew nearer to fulfilling what was probably her dearest dream: a winning catch for her house's team.

Pamela was pulled out of her concentration by what was likely the most unnerving song she'd ever heard. And that was saying something as she was once an Insane Clown Posse fan. She quickly became grateful, for the song, though. For the second time in the game, there was a large iron ball speeding toward her. It was clear that the bludger had one thing on its mind: to cause her as much pain as it possibly could.

She wasn't going to be able to get out of the way in time, so she would have to settle for presenting a target that would cause as little damage as possible. In a quick decision, that was probably a bad one, she turned her broom and shielded her face with her left arm. She had misjudged, however, and the bludger slammed into her side, full force.

It was a miracle that she didn't fall. She didn't know how she'd gotten a reprieve from that kind of damage, but she knew she was likely to have a broken rib or two. Unable to breathe for a while, she willed herself to push her firebolt as far away from the bludger as she could, praying her beaters would come to the rescue. Thankfully, the adreneline had kept the pain from sinking in for the time being. I'd heard they were violent, but that's just insane.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Dragon woke with a yell as she fell on the ground from her position on the sofa. A little charm on her broom that was propped up was mechanically saying 'Get up, game already started' with a robot accent like the one from Mars Wall? Star Walls? Star Wars? something like that. Glancing out the window she cursed and dressed and geared up (well, she only had her broom for gear...and her qudditch robes) and was by the locker room door in three minutes flat.

Wheezing like her grandmother jogging, she took several deep breathes before climbing on the broom and rising into the air. Glancing around she spotted Skie, the other chaser and Katie with her quaffle. Her precious quaffle. Huffing in frustration she flew over to Streams and Skie from some help.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

Not good not good not good!!! Streams was in the air... and she'd sent a bludger at Pamela! Judging by its speed, June knew she wouldn't be able to get there in time.... "Watch out Pamela!"she shouted, and hoped that it would help. Oh no... it had crashed into her. "Are you okay?"she asked and, as she waited for an answer, June spied the bludger shooting off in a separate direction. She narrowed her eyes and pressed herself against her broom. It would not get away!!

She shot off after it, gaining speed and space. As the black ball weaved through the air, June followed it after every twist, every turn. Finally, it appeared to slow down and June knew that it was now or going on another long chase. She raised her bat, quickly flicked her head over to catch sight of her target, and swung her bat in a loop three times for extra oomph, before crashing it into the bludger. The bludger was sent hurtling across the pitch, straight towards Dragon.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

"DRAGON! MOVE!" Never one for words, one syllable phrases were Skie's forte, short, sweet and hopefully able to get the point across. "Oh please, no." Dragon was still to far away to double back and push out of the bludger's path... unless. Skie flew next to June's dangerous bludger, racing it until she finally pulled ahead. Dragging her broom up in front of the bludger, she really hoped it wasn't moving as fast as it looked, or she may need to get another broom. BANG! Skie heard the sickening cracking of twigs as she deflected the bludger with the tail of her broom. Ignoring the slight buckle of it beneath her, she turned slightly to face the damage. A few twigs had broken off, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. "Thank goodness," she mumbled. Zooming after Katie, she was glad that disaster had been, well, slightly diverted. Doubtlessly, someone else would get hurt. Otherwise quidditch wouldn't be as fun as it was! What's a sport without a little blood?

(Huffleuff Chaser)

'What?' Dragon eyes snapped to where Skie was and noticed a bludger hurtling towards her with insane speed. Before she could even react, Skie had knocked it away. She flew over to the chaser and began to thank her teammate who had just resue her.

(Gryffindor seeker)

Pamela was extremely glad that the bludger was now occupied with other people. "Thanks, June," she panted. "I'll survive," she added. Breathing as shallowly as she could, Pamela began her search for the snitch that she had lost thanks to the lovely bludger.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

"No problem!" Skie smiled, knowing that Dragon would have done the same for her. She definitely had the best team in the world. Racing back to where Katie was, Skie paused in midair for a moment to think up a plan. "Hey, you got any ideas?" she called to Dragon. Flying up a little closer to her teammate, she waited for a brilliant plan to pop out from nowhere and seize them both.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie hurried towards the Hufflepuff side of the pitch releived to see more players on both sides arrive. Hearing the crowd cheer for her in the stands gaver her new desire for a win. Quickly, Katie leaned forwards hoping to gain speed and see a play from the captain to do.

(Gryffindor Beater)

Izzy watched with an evil grin as Schuy's broom was shattered.

"Well, that didn't work out the way June wanted it to, but there was still a good outcome," Izzy thought, as she laughed.

Quickly, Izzy got an the idea to hit a bludger between Dragon and Schuyler so she would at least maybe she would hit one or the other. Quickly she spotted a bludger. Izzy sped off on her broom so that she was directly behind Schuy and Dragon. Izzy started to tap the bludger back and forth between her bat, until it was buzzing at a ridiculously fast speed. Izzy did a quick spin and smacked the bludger with her bat and sent it soaring towards Schuy and Izzy at a speed impossible to be stopped.

"Now, Gryffindor would have Streams' blood and cracked skulls," Izzy cackled maniacally to herself.

(Gryffindor seeker)

Pamela was amazed that as far as they were in the game, she still hadn't seen the Hufflepuff seeker. She scanned the pitch making sure she wasn't just overlooking her competition, but she was nowhere in sight. Shrugging, she kept up her circling motion around the field.

That was when, for the second time, she saw the snitch. This time it was hovering about two inches away from Katie's right ear. She decided she wouldn't bother with avoiding making the snitch take off. Flattening herself on the broom, she zipped forward. Using her peripheral vision to watch for the bludger, and listening to make sure she didn't hear it coming up from behind. Yet again, the chase was on. She just hoped her team's beaters would be able to keep her on her broom and alive.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

June slowly began to smile as she watched Izzy at work. A bludger was now hurtling towards both Skie and Dragon so quickly that it blurred before her eyes. June was intent upon the bludger's progress, and flinched when a blur of black flitted past her peripheral vision. She snapped her head towards it and tracked its path for a moment, distracted from the first bludger. A mischievous smile spread on June's face as she wheeled her broom around and took off after the bludger. As she flew after it, the Beater squinted and shivered as the relentless cold wind made her feel as if a mask was stretched taut on her face. Ick... June was almost at the bludger, her plan already shaped in her mind.

She raised her bat.... and dropped it in surprise as the bludger suddenly halted. She braked just in time, as it reversed direction and shot right at her! June's eyes widened in shock. She almost automatically clenched her legs together at the ankles, loosened her thighs and hands, and rolled beneath her broom, performing an almost flawless Sloth Grip Roll. She breathlessly reverted herself and looked back at the bludger. Her eyes narrowed. Sneaky little thing...

June resumed her normal flying position and shot after it. To avoid more pressure from the wind, she kept her limbs as close to her broom as possible. She was almost at the bludger... June raised her bat, this time, determined to keep the bludger from escaping or surprising her. She held her bat out perpendicular to her broom, and slammed it into the bludger. She bit her lip in anxiety, hoping the bludger would reach its target of the Hufflepuff Keeper, hopefully allowing Katie to score.

(Hufflepuff Chaser and Captain)

::Dani swore as she ran onto the pitch her arm was still sore from their last game but she was feeling much better. She was nearly in tears however that she was late, feeling as if she was the worst captain to ever lead the team. Swinging onto her broom, she waved at her team-mates as she passed them trying to thank them mentally for showing up, if they won she'd spend her life's savings to give them the best celebration party Hufflepuff had ever seen.

She gazed around the pitch hopefully but couldn't see the qwaffle, it looked like no one had it. Sighing she did a small circle on her broom and flew to Dragon and Skie.

"What's going on guys?" she asked looking at Skie panting out of breath, as if she'd flown as fast as humanly possible to dragon.

(Gryffindor Beater)

Izzy shrieked insanely, as she watched June perfectly execute a sloth grip roll and then perfectly aim a bludger toward the Hufflepuff keeper, and even better it looked as if Dani had fallen into the first bludger's trap without even realizing it.
"Oh, this is perfect," Izzy exclaimed excitedly. Izzy sat on her broom in euphoria watching the perfectly done plan play out.

Suddenly, Izzy realized horror that the gap between the Hufflepuff keeper and June had caused the bludger to be able to slow down. Since the bludger was not at its rapid speed it might not be as effective.

Izzy quickly sped off on her broom and reached the bludger just couple yards from the Keeper. First giving the bludger a few test taps she smacked it with all her might.

"Oh no," Izzy said mockingly, "Where is the Hufflepuff Beater?"

(Gryffindor seeker)

The snitch had, in fact, taken off away from Pamela with her after it. When she was almost within arms reach, it zoomed off to her left. Pamela thought she'd lost the snitch, but she had managed to turn after it without losing sight of it. Yet again she sped up and continued to chase after it, watching carefully for bludgers.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

"Oh goodness..." The pitch seemed to be alive with activity now that everyone had arrived. Skie shot a quick glance over her shoulder and noticed that Katie racing towards the Hufflepuff side of the pitch. "Oh no you don't," Skie mumbled under her breath. "That's moi's quaffle you're trying to get into the goal..." Leaning forward to get the last few meters of speed out of her broom, Skie wondered what to do next. Pulling up right next to Katie, Skie punched the quaffle out of her arms. "Sorry," she muttered. Skie had a slight problem with taking things from other people... even in quidditch.

Kaitlyn readied herself to catch the quaffle when Skie hit it out of the Gryffindors hands.
