HEBB 2 : Kitchen

Kim watched sort of wary to the present conversation. "Yeah, i'll have a nutter fluffer, or," she paused to laugh at her not knowing the name, " whatever you called it.


"I prefer honesty much better than a lie. I am bluntly honest to a lot of people, ask Zachary..." Kim said, hoping to lighten things up.

Dani flipped over the sandwiches, feeling stupid about asking Shadow to see her stash. Damnit Dani you can go a few weeks without that **** she thought to herself. Chelle walked in and Dani was glad to have someone to release her lack-of-alcohol anger at.

"Maybe you should be honest with your feelings instead of acting perky," Dani shot back. She pulled the sandwich off the stove, plated it and handed it to Shadow and began working on Kim's. "Fluffer Nutter?" she asked Chelle with some fake pep tinted in her voice. She may be acting like a 'peice', as her father would say, or maybe that was her bi-polar medication finally giving out.

Pamela skipped into the kitchen. She had planned on announcing the truth or dare game in the bedroom, but as things seemed a bit tense at the moment, she changed her mind. She reached into the fridge and grabbed an egg, then skipped back out.

Kaitlyn walked into the kitchen and decided to help with the feast that was to go on in the dinning room. She had a basket full of crabs that she was going to fix! She got out a big pot of water and put it on to boil.

Traci walked into the kitchen and grabbed a juice.
"Smells good." She smiled.

Kaitlyn smiled and than continued to fix a crab dish.. " Okay now 30 minuets to boil and it will be ready." She said as she sat down to wait.

Kaitlyn frowned.. " I guess not everyone loves crab.. Oh.. I have to melt a whole a lot of butter to!!" She said as she started to get some butter together.

Dani flipped another fluffer nutter and put it on a plate and handed to the leaving Kim, "You can stay you know."

Shadow had shot a glare at Dani for her comment about her emotions, but muttered a 'thanks' for the sandwich, taking a bite. She carefully hid her teeth though, afraid that some one would pass comment on her over-long canines.

Dani turned her back on Chelle and back to Shadow, "Any good?" she asked ignoring the glare. it seemed that was all Dani had been attracting with in the past few minutes

"Yeah." Shadow said quietly.

Dani smiled and plopped another sandwich on the grill for herself, of couse she had added bitter sweet chocolate to give it more of a tang. She did wish she had some wine but she'd have to go without. "These were always my favorite things growing up."

Shadow thought back to her own childhood before she snapped herself out of those memories, not wanting to have an emotional breakdown and look like a complete Tiger.

Dani thought about her childhood, not ever knowing her mom, the alcohol, becoming insane and her father trying to kill her more than once. "Then again My childhood wasn't the greatest," she pulled the sandwich off the stove and bit into it letting the the sugar sit on her tongue.

"Same here." Shadow muttered darkly, refraining from saying anything more.

Taking a swig of her milk Dani pushed the memories to the back of her mind and wondered slightly about how hard Shadow's life was, she didn't push her though. Her eyes were caught on shadow's circular scar, and was about to ask about it when the smoke alarm went off.

"Damn!" she said and turned off the stove which had over heated and had started to burn.

Shadow had sensed Dani looking at her scar, and was secretly glad that the smoke alarm had gone off. She calmly grabbed the fire blanket on top of one of the cabinets and threw it neatly over the stove, stopping any flames.

Dani grabbed a cloth off the counter that they'd used to dry the dishes and waved it in front of the smoke alarm, an old trick she used often back at her apartment. After a minute the shrieking stopped.

"Wow those things are loud," Dani commented rubbing her left ear

"You can say that again," Shadow replied, deciding that it would be better not to say anything about her hearing.

The loud shreking had started giving Dani a headache, if she was her usual self she would've repeated her previous sentence but she didn't. This was a bad one, she wanted to bent over in pain but stopped herself.

"Do you know where the Asprin is?" She asked rubbing her temples, she knew she shouldn't take any more medication ontop of her three anti-depressants, two of her bi-polar medications, and a tylonal she'd popped that morning.

Shadow raised an eyebrow.
"Are you allowed to take one?" She asked.

Dani nodded, "It helps with headaches doesn't it." She didn't mention how she was already over medicated but her headache was just getting worse.

Shadow frowned.
"I can sense something that you're not telling me. What is it?" She asked gently.

Dani thought, there was alot of stuff she wasn't telling shadow, "I'm probably over medicated," she said finally pushing harder against her temples.

Shadow smiled slightly again before leaving the room, coming back in a few minutes later with a bottle of something white.
"I can give you some of this if you want. It won't interfere with any other medication."

Dani nodded and graciously took the bottle her head was still throbing, "Thanks Shadow you're a good friend."

"Welcome." Shadow replied. "Normal painkillers mess with my system, so this helps."

Kaitlyn lessened to the girls and finished her crabs.. " I'm sorry you have a headache." She said as she took the crabs and walked out and into the dinning room.

"Thanks," Dani said to Kaitlyn as she left then opened the bottle and shook out two pills and popped them into her mouth. She was soo feeling better, but that probably ment nothing.

"Goodness I hate getting headaches, they always come at a bad time."

"I hate them to." Shadow said.

Dani nodded again and sat up, reaching for her sandwich. "I think they're working," She said before taking a bite.

Shadow nodded, and took another bite of her sandwich.

"So Shadow," Dani began. "Whats going through your mind?"

"A lot." Shadow replied, trying to find something to say.

Dani nodded, thinking. She missed her boyfriend alot but that was nothing new.

Shadow was secretly glad of the silence, and shut out the memories that had begun to resurface.

Dani continued nodding there were tears in her eyes but she blinked them away, but she could already feel them running over her cheeks. The anti-depressants weren't working...again

Shadow noticed the change in Dani's mood and turned her gaze to her.
"Are you alright?" She asked, slightly concerned.

Dani wipped the tears away and looked up at Shadow, "Yeah." She said. "I think my anti-depressants wore off."

"Why do you have to take so much medication?" Shadow asked.

Dani shrugged, "I'm bi-polar, extreamly depressed, have slight schizophrenia, and well that's that. My therapist suggested that a medication would help," she finished and wipped the tears away but they still flowed from her eyes.

"I got diagnosed with schizophrenia as well, only I have to deal with it." Shadow said, putting an arm round Dani's shoulders to try to comfort her.

Dani nodded and rested her head on Shadow's shoulder, she could feel the pills loosing their strength. She wanted to curl up and die, to scream and curse, but most of all she wanted this to just be over. "It just sucks." Dani said as tears continued to roll off her face.

Violet walked in. "Im going to make that kool-aid now." She told Dani.

Dani looked up from her tears and nodded to Violet, but she wished the girl would just go away.

Shadow stayed silent, but didn't move, thinking that sometimes, you just need to let it go.

And Dani did just that, She put her head on her knees and let go.

"Are you going to be alright?" Shadow asked gently.
