HEBB 2 : Kitchen

"Pardon me, Miss Riddle," Pamela replied sweetly with a sneer. "However, I would take a moment to find out peoples' ties before throwing such foul language around. Not that it matters to me, but my blood runs pure," she said as she began to head for the door.

"Sorry Streams, but I cannot be in this room when such language is being thrown around."

Violet snorted, "Yeah right, you and what army, the Order?"Violet asked, in baby talk.

As she was on her way to the door, Pamela heard Violet respond to Pamela's comments as though she had included a threat in them. "If you are implying that I suggested some sort of battle, you may want to reconsider what I just said," Pamela commented. "I did not say anything like, 'I'll take you on' or some other such rediculous pronouncement." She then bade the girls in the room farewell, and walked out the door without another word.

Violet turned towards the girl." I never said you did, did I.I asked a simple question that must didnt go threw your think muddy head." violet said.The girl lefted and Violet sat her head down, "Lynn is going to kill me"

Shadow watched this word battle with wide eyes. Pulling the hood on her cloak over her face, she stood up, trying to sneak out of the room.

Violet lifted her head only to see someone try to leave. "Yo, stay in the shadows girl. Where you going?" Violet asked

Shadow froze, cursing herself for being seen.
"I must be losing my touch." She muttered to herself, turning to Violet, she narrowed her eyes. "What?"

"Ouch you have hurt me." Violet said."Dont know whats worse you or the other girls." Violet siad, grabbing her water and walking to the living room.

Shadow rolled her eyes. She wandered over to the cupboards, getting out the ingredients to make a sponge cake.

Jess continued to cook listening to the banter then felt the need to interject.

"You know Shadow, shes just a little priss, whos upset because no one recognized her existance till just recently, AFTER our dads death." She grinned, "She obviously also didnt get the memo, that blood means nothing, especially since her mother was a muggle born and her father was only a half blood."

She shook her head and rolled her eyes, then turned to her soup, "Hey do you want any of this, Its potato and Leer."

Shadow nodded, smiling slightly at Jessica.
"No thanks, I ate not long ago." She said in reply to her offer.

"Cool, well.. Ill be seeing you," she said pouring the soup into a bowl and heading out of the kitchen.

"See you." Shadow said softly before turning back to her cake, putting it in the oven.

Kaitlyn looked out and watched Shadow baking a cake.. " What kind of cake is it?" She asked as she looked at her put it in the oven.

"mmm" Sarah said licking her lips at the lovely smell coming from the oven, "That smells wonderful"

Shadow hid her emotions again.
"It's a simple sponge." She said quietly.

"Mmm... something smells good!" Priscilla announced walking into the kitchen.

morning everyone kayz said as she walked into the kitchen mmmm what can i have for brecky this morning
kayz walked over the to cupbored and got some bread out i think ill have some toast she said to herself

Kaitlyn looked at Shadow and said.. " Do you need any help?" For she could see that Shadow was busy and might need some help.

Shadow looked up.
"It's ok thanks. I just need to wait for it to cook."

Kim walked into the kitchen. She saw Violet storm out and another girl say something about blood, and such. She saw shadow and walked over and sat down next to her.

She knew she didn't really like people but hoped to maybe open her up. "hi shadow. How are you doing? Do you like it here so far?"

Kaitlyn nodded and said.. " Well.. I better be going then." She said as she walked out of the kitchen and went into the living room.

Katherine walked into the kitchen. "
"Hello everyone! How are you doing?" she asked smiling.

Dani stumbled into the kitchen, she was in need for a drink fix and had unfortunatly been robbed of her emergency shot of firewhisky by Streams before they'd even got to the house. She sighed and rumaged in one of the cupboards over the stove where she usually kept her alcohol at home she nearly swore when there was nothing there. Sighing once more she turned around and put on her "I-haven't-had-an-alcoholic-drink-since-this-morning" look with a complementary smile.

"Hey kate, kat, kim, and kayz. Did I miss anyone?" She said through her [i]look/[i]. "Anyway, how's the house been treating you guys, it's been okay for me. Except that I can never seem to find any alchol have any of you found any?" She asked anxiously druming her fingers on the counter the way she did without her drink fix.

"Dude, you can't drink. Can you??" she asked the new girl, Dani. "Oh, and hello" she added.

Shausto skidded into the room, nearly knocking over Dani, who looked rather panicky.
"Is there even an age limit in this house, Kim?" she asked, looking around for the rum.

[b]"Hey, if not i would like to try it. i've never had rum, but i have tried beer." she said. Hmm, this is why they had so much fun?![/b]

Dani nodded, "Yeah innocent by birth Alcoholic by choice." she muttered then was almost knocked over by a new comer. She'd seen her before and reconized her as Shausto-la who seemed to have taken up the cause of rum rumaging.

"You may not like it," she continued telling Kim. "It burns going in and burns coming out." She opened the fridge hoping for maybe a bottle of champange but her minor hopes were dashed. She reached instead for a large bottle of sugar free grape juice. "I heard once that if you leave unsweetened juice out it'll get a little alcoholic."

Dani shook the bottle and poored some into a glass, she smiled at Kim and Shausto. "Bottoms up." she mused and tipped the glass back.

Katherine sat down in one of the chairs by the table, and picked up a banana from the bowl of fruit that was placed on it. She slowly peeled it, and sat back, watching the others go crazy looking for alcohol, while she ate it.
"Guys, dont you think you could just drink water? I mean, your going crazy looking for the slightest alcoholic bevrage, and there are obviously none in the house. Is it worth all the frenzy and fuss?" She sat back and waited for an answer.

Shadow took her cake out of the oven and put it on a wire rack to cool. Picking up her mug of tea again, she watched the others silently.

Dani looked at Kat, she was a nice girl with a wise brain but she was to innocent. Water? for godsake! She was an alcoholic! The blonde set her glass of grape juice down and gave Kat the look she gave her dog sometimes. The "what-are-you-talking-about" look.

"Easy for you to say," Dani began. "I've been an alcoholic for most of my life, I think its worth some fuss." She put her glass in the sink and took a look around the kitchen. "For the most part you're right. God does no one know how to pick up after themselves."

She began to pick up some dishes and put them in the sink with her glass, plugging the drain she let the hot water run for a minute before adding some dish soap.

"The only good thing about this is I'm an absolute Neat-Freak without my jones." She frowned and started scrubbing the dishes.

Shadow looked towards Dani before beginning to dry the dishes that she had washed and putting them away in their respective places.

"Thanks," Dani said looking at Shadow. She hadn't really said much since Dani had entered the room but Dani could sense something about her. It almost shocked her, she'd never felt something like this before not even while doing tarot readings for strangers, it was like a sadness but not quiet. Lowering her shocked gaze Dani started scubbing another glass.

"So are you liking the house so far?" She asked trying to make small talk over the strange vibe she was getting from the girl.

Shadow shrugged slightly, not saying anything. She picked up a pile of plates, putting them away.

Nervously Dani scrubbed another plate, goodness there were alot of dirty dishes! She took the shrug and continued talking.

"I remember last year, it was so hectic. But at least there was some rum in the cupboards. I guess BB remembered all the stupid stuff we did." She handed the dish to shadow. "It's no wonder he took it away, people were going crazy. " She laughed. "But it was all worth it."

Turning off the faucet she turned to look at Shadow and remember one more thing about the year before, her favorite food that had been a big hit in the kitchen. "Have you ever had a fluffer nutter?" She asked.

Shadow nodded and put the last of the dishes away, still not talking.

"I'll whip us up a couple," Her eyes landed on Kim and Shausto. "And a couple for them too."

She went to a cupboard and pulled out the peanut butter and marshmellows along with a loaf of bread. Walking over to the stove she turned up the heat then placed a pad of butter on a pan. "I remember when I had my first Fluffer, I got it all over myself. My Dad wasn't to happy." She started applying peanut butter to a slice of white bread and the continued to do the same with the marshmellows.

Shadow shrugged.
"Ok." She said quietly.

Dani turned her back to hide her smile, finally a response. She wondered if her ex-counsler had felt like this the first time she had said something to that horrible woman in the green shoes that never matched her brown suit.

She let the sandwich fall into the pan and listened to it sizzle. "The soundtrack of a kitchen." She mused and pulled down a couple of glasses. "Milk?" She asked looking at Shadow.

Shadow shook her head,
"No thanks, it doesn't agree with me." She said. She was frowning slightly, having sensed Dani's reaction to her talking.

Dani nodded and grabbed some milk for herself and poored it into her glass. Flash backs were coming back from her darker days Shadow reminded her alot of her former self. She flipped the Fluffer over with a spatula and looked at the tan side, perfect, she thought.

"So," Dani said going back to a former topic. "Have you found any alcohol in this place?"

"Some." Shadow said, pulling her hood over her face.

Dani's eyes brightened, the alcoholic in her taking over. "Seriously?" her question came out with a desperate taint. Finally someone who might be able to help her! "Can you show it to me?"

Shadow's frown deepened.
"Maybe."

"Did I hear the word alcohol?" Chelle asked as she peered through the door, "Do you have any spare?"

Shadow rubbed the circular scar around her eye in slight annoyance. Great, just great. She though to herself, You try to get by here without too much trouble, and you walk right into it.

"Are you alright?" Chelle asked concerned as Shadow seemed annoyed

Shadow jumped slightly before forcing a smile.
"Fine." She said with false happiness.

Chelle smiled, "Dont worry about it - you dont have to pretend to be happy around me. Actually I prefer it when people are honest wit their feelings instead of being fake all of the time"

Shadow dropped the act and turned away, staying silent.
