Hands up who loves the new series of Doctor Who?

I do! I think that it was fantastic - Christopher Eccleston was great as The Doctor (though I think whatsisname...OK I've had a complete mind blank, but you know who I mean...I think he'll do a great job in the forthcoming series).

Anybody see the Christmas special? With the killer Christmas tree?

One of my favourite episodes was the creepy gas mask boy "Mummy? Are you my Mummy?" Freaky-deaky or what? And that was where we met Captain Jack, who is a great character! I can't wait for his spin off series "Torchwood".

Any other Doctor Whovians? (that's what I've been told they're called affraid

This is fantastic news, Kylie is fantastic! And I am of course talking about her singing and acting talents, and not her other remarkable assets.

But in all seriousness, this should be wonderful. Ol' Rusty certainly knows what he's doing with the characters, that's for sure.

Okay- I rented the entire first season from Hastings and have now watched the first 3 episodes ( Gareth from Four Weddings and a Funeral as Charles Dickens--loved it!) and soon I will finish it and then hopefully by then season to will have arrived from my online rental. Aaron has been watching it with me and now I have him enthralled as well. Next up- Ame!

Aliens of London/World War Three are up next and they're great episodes. But no episodes are better than The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances - just a warning Kate - don't watch those alone!

A very creepy sort of scary, yes.

And Catherine Tate just annoys me...I don't think she's a very good actress. But the problem I have is that we've seen her in an episode of Doctor Who already, the 2006 Christmas special "The Runaway Bride", and she was awful. The character was horrible...loud, shouty, brash...and downright annoying. They seriously need to calm her down a bit and give her a personality transplant before she'll even come close to being bearable.

I liked the ending, especially since Chris wasn't going to continue with the series, and it was a cool introduction to the new doctor. I'm sure I'll like him, but Eccleston is a great actor so I am sad to see him go. Rose looking into the heart of the tardis was excellant- and the kiss rocked! I'm really glad her mom and Mickey helped Rose, but I feel so bad for Mickey. He's a bit weak and sad, but Rose did leave him behind. Captain Jack is the BEST!!!!!!! Love him. I did make the mistake of watching both the Empty Child and the Doctor Dances alone, but they really are two of the very best episodes of the season, plus Captain Jack was introduced is such a great way! I'll have to find a link to his series- he does have his own, correct? The creepy kid with the "Are you my mummy?" .... pretty scary for a television show. Other things I loved in Season 1- Cassandra- loved when she died, was sad to see Jabe (? tree woman) go, thought she would have made a great companion, the rift, and I kind of liked the Slytheens... except their gassy problems*g* I hate, hate, hate the daleks!!! Is there any sound in the world more annoying than them screaming "Exterminate!"? I doubt it! Can't wait to start season 2, just a little nervous.... But my husband did copy all of season 1 for me so after the HP DH is done with I will force Ame to watch it too.

Today Weta Limited announced they will be creating, in collaboration with BBC Worldwide, a line of Collectible statues based on the popular television series, Doctor Who.

Doctor Who is produced by the BBC and is the longest-running science fiction television series in the world. It follows the adventures of a time-traveller called ‘the Doctor’, who travels time in a phone box, solving problems and righting wrongs.
The Weta Collectibles line will incorporate key moments from Doctor Who. The initial series will consist of four pieces, all of which capture a nostalgic scene from the series. Each piece will be made at 6th scale and made out of high quality polystone. Weta Sculptors Ben Hawker, Dan Cockersell, Eden Small and Gary Hunt created the pieces in collaboration with Weta Model Maker David Tremont.
Selected pieces will be on display for the first time ever at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con from 25 – 29 July, meaning that Comic Con attendees will be the first to view the range. The Weta Limited stand is number 2615. The official images of the pieces will be revealed the following day, on 26 July.
The first episode of Doctor Who launched on BBC Television on 23 November 1963. There have been more than 600 episodes, 150 stories and two television movies. The show has become a television favourite for fans worldwide and has influenced generations, including David himself. He says he has been a fan of the series since a child, and when the opportunity came up to create Weta Collectibles based on the series he couldn’t believe his luck. “I started watching the series when it first aired back in the sixties”, he says. “It was inspiring to watch. The images scared the heck out of me as a child, but at the same time they were so fascinating, too. Okay, so i'm not a humongous Dr Who fan, but since it's always coming on Sunday's here in Finland, and i happen to always get stuck on it when i go through channels (it's just so hilarious xD) i have a few questions... well, ONE xD

WHEN THE HELL WILL DAVID TENNANT COME INTO THE PICTURE!?!? xD

I don't have any idea which episode is going and what has happened, but last sunday there was something about a brain chip thingy, which practically amde you into a computer. If you like snapped your fingers you got this cool hole in your forehead :D And i seriously don't like this Christopher Eccleston dude who is the Doctor... i want David Tennant! xD

That episode is called "The Long Game". You ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO watch the two episodes after the next one - best ever. They rest of the series goes:

Father's Day
The Empty Child - best best best!
The Doctor Dances - both of these have the lovely Captain Jack :D
Boom Town
Bad Wolf
The Parting of the Ways - DT is in the end of this one

And then you get The Christmas Invasion - with DT!! And then the rest of the next two series have DT as the Doctor Doctor Who - Page 4 436937

I think RTD wants to go as well, but there's nothing to say they'll get a new producer and a new Doctor. He still has three regenerations to go, remember.

Timelord's don't die - they regenerate. They have thirteen regenerations, and Chris Eccleston (or "that icky dude"!) was the Doctor's ninth regeneration. DT is the tenth regeneration. It's how they get around using different actors for the part.

Now that would be cool.... Hmmm...Patrick Dempsey starts to get a little too moody and pouty of Grey's Antaomy and *poof* he's Scotte Speedman (from Felicity and the Underworld movies)...I just don't know it that would work in non sci-fi or magical powers show, but maybe. *g*

What about Torchwood? Now I haven't started watching that, but hopefully that will stick around for a bit. Who knows, maybe if Dr. Who ends we will get that Rose Tyler spin-off afterall...

Torchwood is good - a little more "adult" than Doctor Who. I'm thinking particularly of the second episode :D And like...all of the Torchwood team are highly hmm..how to put it?...promiscuous.

But it is good and well, it's got John Barrowman as Captain Jack in it. There's no travelling through space - it's based in Cardiff - but there is a little time travel. It's worth watching and there are some aspects of DW series three that lead from TW.

There's another spin-off coming this September...The Sarah-Jane Adventures. I'm not sure if you've met her yet - she's in series two episode three.

well according to Yesterday's News of the World, John Simms who played The Master in the last series, is set to take over. Here is the article:
