Thoughts and Opinions Thread

First topic message reminder :

This is the thread where members can post their graphics creations for other people to see, and for thoughts and opinions to be given. Consider it a sort of 'showing off' thread, if you like, but also a place where you can receive constructive criticism for aspects of your graphic making.

Here's my latest graphic, just a simple colourisation, which I'm planning to put on the up for grabs section of my graphics site. My biggest problem with it though is, like always, the text. I'm not sure if it overpowers the image.

Wowee Amy that is AMAZING. Perhaps I should reconsider my ban on PSP...though I still don't understand it. *sigh*

omg Ducky *is in shock* That looks sooooo real.

Streams, I really like that Uglies graphic (really good book- try it Elly ), but have to agree with what others have said about all the green. *has nothing against green but thinks it's just a little too much*

That's great! And it reminds me I need to get a move on with my entry for that challenge...you should join and enter the challenge anyway! The only thing I would say is that the quality of the pics is a little blurry, but when working with pictures from that era, pixellated is what you tend to get anyway, so it's not your fault there lol.

Something I did very quickly for a challenge on the CoS forums:

here's the uglies graphic again...except this time I was using PSP. It's only the second thing I've ever done on PSP, so yeah...whatever. It's nowhere near as nice as the first uglies thingy I made. And it took me triple the time. But I'm learning. ;)

And I would never have figured out PSP without Amy's help, so THANK YOU, DUCKIE DEAR. XD

Also, is there any other way to get rid of the edge of an image besides covering it up with a brush?

That's nice Streamy! You can blend the two pictures' edges together by raising the feathering level, or you can use the eraser brushy thing... I'm sorry, I'm not much of a help

For the blending thing, you could try feathering the image, or using the eraser brush on the lowest hardness and at quite a large size. Sometimes this is a little imprecise though..

Another thing you could try is getting your rectangle selection tool, and changing it's shape to circle. Then where you have the option "Feather", set it to something like 20 or 30. If you then select over the middle of where you want to blend (making sure the circle isn't too big), and hit the delete key, it sort of blends things together.

I don't know if that made sense...OK, here's a quick picture in case that didn't make sense:

Austin, that's very bright but it's good! Nicely blended, although I would suggest saving as a .png image - it makes it a better quality.

hmm bright colors...not sure if I can help you, since I'm just getting used to PSP. oh and yeah I did increase the feathering in this one and didn't need to use a brush right down the middle of the graphic.

Very nice blending on that, Streamy! And thanks Amy, Imageshack always makes my graphics pixelly.

Wish I could do stuff like those!!! I've only done three and they weren't that great! They were all done in plain old Paint! lol

But i LOVE ALL OF THEM!!! You guys make me jealous at her graphic makin abilities! lmao!

Lately I've been doing a few of the challenges at the CoS forums, where you're given a particular theme/text/base to work with. Here are some of the graphics I've made for that:

In that week, I won the following categories: theme hanging, theme banner, and I came second in: theme signature and base.

lol congratulations, amy! I especially like the magical object one, and I love the text in the stan one.

That's good, Cookie! I like the whole old feeling it has. The only thing is that the "Please never leave again" sounds kind of odd. Maybe "Never leave again" or "Please don't leave again" would sound more flowy?

This is something I made as part as my friends Secret Santa present for christmas. I replaced Elizabeth in a picture of Elizabeth and Jack Kissing. What do you think? I think I needed to make her face a bit sharper. It's a tad blurred.

It's good Elly..although you're right about the bluriness. And..Ruby must look a helluva lot like Elizabeth, because on first glance it doesn't look much different to the original pic!

lol ruby didnt want everyone to see this but..whatever.

It's kind of a new style for me, so I would love any tips on how to improve it.

Ooh Austin, that's great!

I don't think anything needs to be changed, apart from the border. The red is a little bright. Try taking the colour out of the picture itself with the eyedropper tool - I think a darker red would look better.

But otherwise great job

omg I love those books Streamers! I love the text, really nice. The only thing I can suggest is the tatoo on her forehead, maybe try to make it blend a bit more into her skin? *couldn't think of any other way to say it* Really good!

I really like that cookie! I dont think that there is anything I would suggest to change - it is really good.

I did some icons for a challenge where you take a 100x100 image and make it into an icon of your own. Here is the outcome:

I just finished this Luna Lovegood banner... you see, I set myself to the challenge of finding a photoshoot on Foto Decadent and then using it to make a HP graphic... it turned out all right, I guess



How can I improve this?

Again, I really like that - you are really good at graphics The only think I could suggest is perhaps a change in font? It looks like 'funa' :D Otherwise very good
