Thoughts and Opinions Thread

First topic message reminder :

This is the thread where members can post their graphics creations for other people to see, and for thoughts and opinions to be given. Consider it a sort of 'showing off' thread, if you like, but also a place where you can receive constructive criticism for aspects of your graphic making.

Here's my latest graphic, just a simple colourisation, which I'm planning to put on the up for grabs section of my graphics site. My biggest problem with it though is, like always, the text. I'm not sure if it overpowers the image.

That one's great cookie, although there's a line running down the middle of the woman on the right's body, which looks a little odd.

And Sharon, I really like that one, the 'rainy' effect looks great.

Here's something I did for Caro in my request thread, but I like the way it turned out, so thoughts?

Thanks for your comments, Elfie! I put the L's in Luna and Lovegood too close together, but its all good now

And your's is really good, too! But maybe you could add some variety with the font and have "wandering soul" in a more... mmmm.... plain font, I guess. Maybe Garamond would look nice And the underlining of Rogue would look nicer if it was the same color and font as the word itself.

That looks great streams, the only CC I have is that the quill looks very 'stuck on', you could perhaps try and blend it in a little more?

Also, you could add a 1px border just to complete the graphic.

I actually like the way the quill is - if you gave it a bit of shadow it would look as though it is standing on the banner maybe?

I thought I would put these here as they were my examples for the first round of graphics challenge (and competitiors in the tournament wait until rounds are over before putting them here as its anonymous!)

I'm actually having a bit of a problem with borders at the moment, but chanced a border on this one, though it didn't come out even. Darn.

Ah well. I'll pretend I did it that way on purpose. Anyway, ignore the border. I added a bit of shadow, and also put the quill 'underneath' the picture rather than on top so that it should blend into the graphic more. What do you think?

The shadow really works, it makes the quill look like it's supposed to be there, rather than being 'stuck on'. I think it looks really great now, good job!

elfie, I like the scruffy feel that the doctor one has XD

the only criticism I have is that on the right-hand bottom corner there is a beige sort of line right on top of the border...maybe you could move the picture down a bit and that would cover it. Otherwise, it's really excellent.

I LOVE the Evanescence one, it's so pretty, but also quite creepy looking.

Streams, I like your signature, the repeated image works really well, and the texture gives it a 'frothy' feel that reflects in the bubble blowing.

I've just made a new sig/av set using the lyrics from the Evanescence song "Field of Innocence".



I found an amazing photographer's website where those pics have come from, and I can see me making lots of graphics from the pics :D

I've used some of the pics in my tournament entries for this week, so I couldn't show it even if I wanted to lol.

I was trying to make a wallpaperfor a challenge and gave up in the end and made a random graphics.

Marie, I like those! But the first one should be grizzly, not glizzly...lol.

And cookie, I really like that one! I especially love the colors...they are bright enough so that they draw the eye, but not too bright...excellent.

Oh yeh marie, I forgot to say, I was looking at your avatars again and jsut a suggestion, turn on antialias to make the fonts...*thinks of wrod* smoother and less grainy.
