First topic message reminder :

This is the thread where members can post their graphics creations for other people to see, and for thoughts and opinions to be given. Consider it a sort of 'showing off' thread, if you like, but also a place where you can receive constructive criticism for aspects of your graphic making.

Here's my latest graphic, just a simple colourisation, which I'm planning to put on the up for grabs section of my graphics site. My biggest problem with it though is, like always, the text. I'm not sure if it overpowers the image.

Ahh, I like the idea. I think the problem is mainly the lines underneath the text - if you erased them, and kept the ones over the text itself that might work

I did'nt know you could erase text... learn something new everyday dont you? Lmao

You can? Well, I can't. lol


But I know how to make em look to be not existing. XD

What program are you using?

In PSP, to be able to erase text you have to convert the vector text layer to a raster layer before the eraser becomes active.

I like that, especially the way you've done the text.

I made these two headers for a contest today. The first one I'm not sure about... I kind of mish-mashed together a couple of tutorials, and the colouring came out kinda weird... I was aiming for fake selective colouring (as I only have PSP) but I'm not entirely sure it worked...



Second one I like a lot better but again, not entirely sure if it's how I wanted it to turn out. Of the two, though, I have a feeling this one will get more votes in the contest. It's the style of banner that has won before.

Am I the only one who posts here these days? XD

These were all made for the LJ community seasonal_spuffy, so as you might guess from the name they're all pretty much centered around Spike/Buffy from BtVS.

I've been trying forever to get them...you should do a tut for it to help get the brown coloring cause I cant do it...all I get is red when I try

I love the last three. They're all awesome actually, but it seems like there was something that bothers me with the first one. lol I'm bothered? How come I've said that? XD

If I'll be ranking them, the fourth will top my list, then the animated one, then the third, and finally the one that bothers me. Oh, I think it's their cut bodies that bothers me. XD

Elana, I really like your banners. It's an effect I wouldn't have thought would work, but it does - and really well.

Text, hmm, I don't think you need any on the one in your sig as that little bit of green fills the gap, but the one you posted in the thread could maybe do with some text.

Perhaps something very small and situated right next to the gap between her chin and neck? Maybe a similar sort of positioning to what I've got in my sig - right up close, in a dark red? Dunno, you will probably have to play around with text and see what works.

I have some text icons to share. I've never been good at making text icons, so I decided to look up some tutorials earlier and found some good ones, and I think I've got the hang of it now. So I decided to use sloganizer.com to sloganise "Spike", and came up with these...

I think the new graphic for the site looks good XD Even though they all look uber old now, especially Tom/Draco XD but there's nothing that can be done about that much XD



I had to make Mandy a new banner because someone mentioned that in her old one her hair wasn't red enough XD I'm not too sure that I like how it came out though XD

Amber, really like both, particularly the second one with the cut out effect.

Ag - I think that looks great, really nice clarity on the images, but I agree with Elana that a more simple font would work wonders.

Elana, love that - it's got a nice, soft feel to it. One thing I would suggest though is cutting out the parts of "ADRIANNA" that fall behind the blue stripe and smaller text. I'm not sure if it would work for that piece, but it's something you could try. It's just, at the moment, you're losing some of the effect of the smaller text because it's slightly unreadable because of the large text behind it. Hope that make sense!

Or what color to make it. First I bad it a dark blood red, then white, and they were either to dark or to light for it. And I cant figure where to put it either. Its aggervating me cause not only did I spend two hours on making that thing...it took forever to just think of lyrics to put on it. Ugh..I wanna just forget it but its sooo pretty...anyone think of a color or a place to out it at?

Violet, it ish really pretty. As for the text I suggest that you put it on the right or even maybe try it going on both different sides starting at top or middle depending on how much there is. For the color try some of the different colors that you've used in your graphic, ones that aren't really noticeable and mess around with the shades slightly.
