HEBB: The Kitchen

::Lifey nodded and settled into a chair::

"so how's life? i'm ...kind of...well...yeah, some stuffs going on."

::Lifey sipped her tea::

lily appears in the kitchen
"Hey peeps
so, can i have some of that tea?"

"Sure, join us for tea" ~Jesse nodded to skatinglils then he looked to Lifey "Oh you know, same old blah...stuff happened and yeah..." he sipped his tea~

Marie peeped her head in.

"Did I hear someone mention tea?"

::Caree stomped back to the kitchen, opening the fridge grumpily::

"Foooood...." ::she muttered, looking around in the fridge:: "I want foooooood...."

Jesse sleepily walked in and grabbed a bowl, the milk and some cereal and made himself a bowl. Then he put the milk back in the fridge and walked over to the table and sat with his bowl of cereal~

~He waved to Marie~ "Grab yourself some green tea, it's still warm." He said gesturing to the kettle on the stove.~

~Then he started eating his cereal~

"Green tea? On second thought, I think I'll take some coffee," she said, going to the stove and making herself some coffee.

"Who has tea? That sound nice..."

WL walked in and poured herself a cuppa, breathing in the aroma in bliss...it was the most relaxing thing she had done all week...::

"tea?" streams asked carefully. "who made it?"

::at this point she trusted only lifey when concerning food. so spotting lifey, she asked, "did you make it, lifey?"

~Jesse rolled his eyes~ Yes streamers, Lifey made it. ~wondered why anyone would be suspicious of him~

"I'm sorry, Jesse," streams said quickly. "this is nothing against you personally...I mean to say...um..."

"I think I'll wait till lifey confirms that, jesse," she said softly.::

~Jesse shrugged~ Okay, suit yourself heh.

~He then went and started making some Lobster Thermadore~

::streams shook her head. jesse had done nothing to earn her trust or prove that he wasn't a spy. but maybe he WAS trustworthy. so she decided to keep a close eye on him while they were in the kitchen. if he didn't do anything suspicious, she might just trust him.

she sat at the table and put her hands around a cup of tea to warm them, but didn't drink any.::

~He was sure that no one liked or even trusted him but he wasn't a bad guy. Soon they'd all see that, he hoped.
He then finished making his lobster thermadore and set the entire tray of it on the table, the smell and the aroma of the food drifted through the kitchen~

"Come and get it, my famous Lobster Thermadore made just for everyone!" He called out. He was sure that many of them were hungry so he'd gone out of his way to prepare a luxurious meal for all the housemates here~

Snape suddenly smelt burning. His eyes shot open as he awoke from his slumber to realise that he was still in the oven and someone had started using it!

"OI!" he shouted loudly before rattling the cooker.

When he got no response he stood up, cooker still on his head and started running around in circles, small flames burning his hair

~Jesse blinked rapidly at Mick running around with fire in his hair~ "Uh...Mick...?" He couldn't help but blink even more with confusion as he scratched his head~

"it looks rather good," streams said carefully, inspecting it, sniffing it, and casting several Detection spells on it. "maybe I'll have some..."

"Do you hear something coming from the direction of the oven?" she said suddenly in a different voice, and pulled open the oven door.

"Snape?! Oh, goodness! come out and get to the sink immediately...should I get a healer?"

::she wondered if this had in fact been an evil plan to exterminate Snape even before evictions...::

~To prove that the food was safe, Jesse cut off part of it and put it on a plate. Then he sat down and began eating~ His eyes looked to streams
"Streamers, grab some before it gets cold. Cold seafood is nasty." he said between chewings.~

::jesse could be immune to whatever poison he's using, streams thought suspiciously.

"It's better to eat with lots of company," she told him. "so if you don't mind, I'll wait till more people start eating. But it looks and smells delicious, jesse."

~Jesse nodded as he continued eating and munching along happily~ He understood and couldn't blame the girl for being uncomfortable. With him being a Slytherin and a powerful one, he had to admit that he did have his antics which scared people. He grinned to himself then continued eating ~

::Elly entered the kitchen and saw Jesse had cooked some food. She wasn't really hungry from all the sweets she ate but she decided to try it...

"Wait, jesse, is there any form of nuts in this?" She asked before taking a bite::

"No nuts at all" Jesse replied with his mouth full~It's just lemon flavored baked lobster"

"Never had lobster before..." She said, picking up a peice, she carefully nibbled off a bite to see what it taste like...

"Not bad Jesse," She said and took a bigger bite, "Infact it's actually quite good."

:Alyssa walked in and noticed Elly and Jesse. She decided to skip dinner, she wasn't really hungry, so she plopped down in the seat next to Elly:

"Hey," she greeted the two. "Nice lobster, is it good?"

hannah walked into the kitchen and quietly leant against the wall hoping for a chance to cook something to eat. She was starving

Dancing sat next to Jesse
"Mmm Lobster my fav, mind if I...." She moved her hand over the food and picked up a part of the middle. "mmm so good."

hannah screwed up her eyes and peered at the lobster. She was sure she just saw it move......

Dancing savoring her bit of lobster, decided she needed a better breakfast, and moved over to the stove, "Anyone want a fluffer nutter?!" She called. "Peanut butter, with marshmellows, chocolaate chips, on white bread, grilled to prefection?"

"fluffer nutter?" hannah asked quietly from her position by the wall, her eyes still watching the lobster move and wondering whether to tell anyone

"Yeah fluffer nutter, a basic artery clogger, but the best creation on gods green earth." She grabbed her supplies and set to work peanut buttering the slices of bread. "Do you want one?"

:Brunette could have sworn the growling in her stomach could be heard as she entered the kitchen. She smiled at the girls sitting down and went to investigate the cabinets. SHe would ahve to whip something up, she loved cooking. She pulled out a box of lasnaga.:

"Hey, would you guys want me to cook some of this for you?" she asked the girls. "I'm really hungry, but I don't think I could eat a whole lasnaga by myself." she giggled.

Dancing plopped her sandwich in the pan. And shook her head. "Sorry got myself a Fluffer Nutter, but I got an Idea. How bout we have Lassania for lunch. Since it's more a daytime food than a Breakfast kind."

::streams was glad she arrived before Brunette started cooking. that way she could keep an eye on her the entire time to make sure she didn't poison the food.::

"Lasagna sounds great!" she said enthusiastically. "Want me to help?"

::she wasn't worried about getting too distracted to hear if someone was sneaking up on her, because Spike was in the doorway, standing guard.::

::Lifey came back into the kitchen::

"don't worry streams, i did make the tea. and can i help too? i really need something to do to be involved in the house again, because i've been at school all day and i've missed a lot"

::She smiled around at the room, and waved to spike, who was now glaring at her own dog skipper::

"be good, spike," streams murmured. "remember, I think they're friends."

::then she turned to lifey with a smile. So far lifey was the only one who had been really nice to her, and somehow she seemed genuine as well. She just didn't fit the title of a deadly assassin, somehow, and streams was glad of that. She really hoped lifey wouldn't break her trust in any way...and she doubted that would happen.::

"Oh, you DID make the tea?" streams said gratefully. "Thank goodness, I'm so thirsty."

::she poured herself a huge mugful with two teaspoons of sugar, then poured some water into Spike's bowl before she sat at the kitchen table. She still cast a Detection spell on the tea before she drank it, though. It was a habit that was impossible to break. Besides, there was no harm in being careful::

::Lifey nodded reassuringly to streams. She liked the girl. she was paraniod yes, and she might never fully trust anyone, but Lifey didn't really care. She realy wanted to be a good friend, and streams seemed really cool, like she would be a good friend back.::

"to be quite honest." :she said quietly over her cup of tea.:: "i dead scared about eliminations and..." ::her voice dropped to a whisper:: "you never know who could be backstabbing and nominate you for elimination. i'm so scared about being eliminated. and tea really helps to calm me!"

::she smiled at streams::

"and my dog"

"Yes, tea has that calming effect," streams said dreamily.

::Then she whispered in lifey's ear, hoping that her mike wouldn't pick up the whisper, "I don't blame you one bit for being scared. So am I, really. But try not to show it...heaven knows I try. It's just so hard when I know what eviction really..."

::then her voice rose and became cheerful. "No need to be afraid, lifey. BB will take care of us. Even if we are evicted, nothing bad will happen."

she smiled, but this time it didn't reach her eyes. "really. everything's going to be fine," she said confidently, with just the slightest tremble in her voice, and poured herself another mugful of tea while pulling Stab onto her lap and stroking him gently.::

::Lifey's whole contanance became more worried at what streams said to her.::

"ee-e-e-eviction really is?" :she asked, her voice barely audible::

"i thought this was just a fun event???" ::she took a large gulp of tea::

::streams tensed ever so slightly. "lifey. forget I said anything," she said in a hurried whisper. "we can't talk about this, especially here. And actually, it's better if you don't know. Believe me, worrying about this all the time is no fun," she finished with a wry laugh.

"But it IS just a fun event," she said aloud, her voice cheery. "I wonder if there are any chocolate chip cookies in that cabinet there..."

::Lifey relaxed a little. maybe her friend was just being paranoid, but nevertheless, lifey stored the thought in the back of her mind, just in case.::

"oh never bother looking for premade" ::lifey said::

"you have to make them! i have my mum's old recipe, and homemade is the best! want to help?" ::she asked. she had many happy memories of baking with her family.::

"Ooh, yeah, let's!" streams said excitedly. "Check to see if you have all the ingredients, and then we can start! I love warm home-baked cookies!"

and the best thing is, if I make them I don't have to worry about poison she thought happily.

::Lifey scurried about, no magic at ALL, because she always made them the muggle way, and gathered everything::

"i've got them all" ::she smiled.:: ::she pulled a few bowls, spoons, measuerers, and trays towards her.::

"Okay! Dark brown sugar, check. sugar, flour, butter, chocolate chips, check."

::streams made sure they had everything, then began cracking eggs against the side of the bowl.::

::she even forgot to be scared, even though eviction day was right around the corner.::

::Lifey laughed, a few minutes later, as she was covered in white powder...flour.::

"oh dear, i dropped the bag again!" ::she smiled and added milk to a bowl::

"oh shoot it," streams muttered when she dropped a shell into the bowl and had to fish it out, but couldn't stop laughing--laughing! she was laughing for the first time since she had arrived!--when she saw lifey, completely dusted in white.::

::Lifey giggled a little more::

"yup! have a laugh at my expense...it reminds me of a saying i heard somewhere. 'if i trip and break my leg it's a tragedy, if i slip on a banana peel and fall it's horrible, if you slip on a banana peel it's funny"::

"I always did wonder that," streams said thoughtfully. "why do we feel like laughing when other people hurt themselves? I mean, even if it's in a silly way, they still hurt. Like once my grandma slid down the stairs on her butt, and well, they were carpeted and she slid sitting down, so she didn't do MUCH damage...but even while we were helping her to a chair we were trying not to laugh...but I was also feeling guilty for wanting to laugh in the first place."

::Lifey's brow creased a little as she slid a sheet of cookie dough into the oven::

"yeah...i mean...it's not funny when you think about it, but it is at the same time."

"I think I read about this somewhere once...a theory that due to survivor's instinct, we feel happy that we're not the ones being hurt," streams said as she began to pack away the leftover ingredients. "But it's not so nice when you think about it...but it IS just sort of instinct...I mean, I don't want to laugh...It just bubbles up on it's own somehow..."

mmm those cookies are starting to smell good she thought contentedly.

::Ten minutes later (i don't know how long it takes and i don't feel like checking...it's a magical oven..idk) Lifey took the cookies from the oven::

"mmmmm yum!" ::she poured to glasses of milk:: "cheers!" ::she said taking a cookie, offering one to streams, and dunking hers in the milk, the cookie still steaming from the oven::
