Weather: As we move into November it becomes bitterly cold, but the skies remain clear and dry. Piercing sunlight might affect your eyesight!

Notes: Apologies for this going up late!

(Hufflepuff Beater)

:Etta stepped out on to the pith and inhaled the deep cold air which blew softly through her hair and over her skin. Sighing, she swung one leg over her broom and kicked off, into the air she rose, until finally she stopped, almost 60 feet from the ground.

Delving into her Quidditch robes, Etta retrieved her beloved platinum Beaters Bat and kissed it for luck, her eyes roamed the pith as her trust owl fluttered off ito the Hufflepuff Stands.

Gryffindor Chaser and Co-Captain

Aliza walked in to the changing rooms lazily, she knew she was early and was quite happy about it. Still...she wasn't expecting to be the first person there - she wondered whether any of the Hufflepuffs had shown up yet.

She got changed hurriedly because she wanted to unleash her 'surprise' early so that it would greet people when they came to the pitch. She reached inside her bag and pulled out a huge banner. She had bewitched it to become feather-light and grinning she attached it to her broom. The weight of it wouldn't obstruct her at all but she wasn't sure whether it would be very easy to fly with a large banner coming off the end of her broom.

At last, she stepped out on to the pitch. Looking around she noticed that very few people had even arrived to watch the match and there was only one other player in the air - Etta. As she was mounting her broom she noted the weather - visiblity might be hard but at least there was no chance of rain!

She kicked off and launched into the air the banner floating behind her. There were 2 lions on it, and between them were the words "Go Go Gryffindor!" in honour of the Gryffindor Spirit Week. Smiling to herself she flew around the pitch, warming up until anyone else arrived.

June shivered… had it always been this cold? She clipped her signature ‘Gryffie’ hairclip on to keep stray locks of hair from blowing into her eyes, and picked up her broom. She blinked as she exited the locker room; a sudden ray of unexpected sunlight shone piercingly from the cloudless sky. June mounted her broom and stood motionless for a moment, calmly observing the sky. It was perfect weather for Quidditch… if only it wasn’t so cold! She sighed and was about to kick off when she saw a large red… thing… hanging off of someone’s broom. When she finally understood what it was, June laughed and waved to Aliza, wondering if her friend could even see her.

With a hard kick, June hurtled into the sky and flew up to her ‘mum’. “Beautiful banner!” she said, smiling. It really was, and it was also a wonderful representation of Gryffindor Spirit Week – November. June shivered once more as a chilling wind blew across the Pitch, and quickly breathed on the hand that clutched her Beater’s Bat. True, she preferred cold weather to extremely hot weather… but… oh well.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Schuyler tumbled down the stairs anxiously, pulling on a shoe as she collided into rail after rail as the stairs migrated beneath her feet. Feeling her way down the stairs, now that she had both shoes on, Schuyler groggily ran down to the Hufflepuff locker room and stuck her arm out vaguely, muttering “Accio broom.” Feeling the hard reassuring feel of the wood on her rickety Cleansweep, Schuyler perked up a little out of her stupor, or at least enough to realize that her shoes were on the wrong feet.

“Darnit...” she mumbled, cursing the laces that seemed to slip through her fingers.

After her shoes were once again put in their places, Schuyler stepped onto the pitch, not expecting the wave of light that greeted her and withered her eyes in their stalks.

“Need... sunglasses...” she moaned, mostly to herself. As she waved her hands back in forth in front of her eyes to get rid of the black and blue dots swimming in her vision, she could only imagine the looks of ridicule she was receiving from the crowd. “Oh, well. If I’m going to do this, I better do it right,” she murmured through her lips. Mounting her broom, she rose up into the air and did her laps, rejoicing the feel of the cold air on her back and running through her hair. Dropping to the ground, she waved at Etta, her morning zombie-state finally worn off.

(Hufflepuff Beater)

Streams poked her head out of the locker room and shivered violently, her teeth chattering. Yep. It was COLD out there. She needed another layer of clothing. She put on a sweater over the turtleneck she was already wearing, and then donned her Quidditch robes. She stroked her beater's bat affectionately with one finger, and then smiled, twirling it.

Grabbing her broom, she strode out onto the field. She still felt a bit chilly though, and realized that up in the air the cold would be even worse, so she cast a quick warming globe spell over herself. That way
she would be protected from cold burn as the wind rushed by her at over 100 mph when she sped across the field.

She straddled her broom and then rose into the air, going as fast as she could to test the effects of her warming globe spell. Indeed, she could feel nothing but a pleasant breeze as she sped faster and higher,
and she breathed a sigh of relief. She hated being cold. Then she turned and grinned at Ettie as she waited for the balls to be released so that the game could begin.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie walked into the locker room. This was the first time in her entire Gryffindor Quitdditch career where she was not worried about being late for a game. Usually, she was struggling to wake up in the morning. She chickled to herself remembereing the mad-dash before the last game as she pulled her uniform over her red and gold sweater and pants and braided her hair once again. She grabbed her broom and walked onto the pitch. Her eyes immediatly caught a banner soaring through the air with the words "Go Go Gryffindor." ]

From this angle she couldn't tell who it was, but she would soon as she mounted her broom and kicked off the ground.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

"KATIE!!!!!" June called to her friend flying through the air. She made a face, unsure if the Chaser had heard her... She shrugged. Oh well. June smiled; hopefully, the rest of the team would soon be in the air. Madam Hooch was talking with Madam Pomfrey (who was probably complaining about the large amount of injuries everyone seemed to get during a game), so it didn't seem as if the game would start anytime soon.

To use up some time, June took out her wand and pointed it at her broom. She laughed as, using her wand, she drew red and gold stripes, painting the brushes at her broom's tail. That done, June waved her wand and summoned a painting of a lion that was usually in the Gryffindor Common Room. She smiled and waved at it. Every now and then, the lion would roar out: GO GO GRYFFINDOR! and various other cheers. How was that for House spirit?

(Gryffindor Keeper)

Amber headed unto the pitch, late as usual. Though as she arrived she noticed that she wasn't as late as she usually was. Which was an improvement. She got unto her broom and kicked off, heading into the air. If she thought it had been cold before that was nothing compared to how it was now. She shivered lightly, wishing she had worn something warmer. She glanced up at the sky which was bright and sunny. If the sun was so bright why was it so cold?

She shook her head and tried to focus on something else. She headed over to Katie and June who were already on the pitch. "Hey guys!" she said.

(Hufflepuff Keeper)

::Dani ran out onto the field, she had seemed to fall asleep during Etta's pep talk but that was nothing new, she yawned streaching her arms over her head and straightened her yellow and black robes and hoped on her firebolt.

::Scanning the pitch she saw Etta, Streams, and Skie. She waved and flew over to the still morning-groggy Skie.

"Are you ready for the game today," she asked as she looked at the newly arrived Keeper, Amby. "Well this promises to be fun."

(Hufflepuff Beater)

Shivering with the cold, Etta dived quickly into the crowd, grabbing someone's thick winter coat off them.

"You can have it back once im warm!" she shouted over her shoulder as she sped off into the game, her eyes were fixed on her team mates, she nodded a greeting to the all and began to focus on a Bludger as the balls were released.

Kicking hard, Etta began to gain speed, her bludger was in sight and so was her intended victim. Pulling her arm out, raising her bat, Etta swung her body weight into the force of the bat as it struck the bludger and shot off directly for Amber.

"Frozen icicle of a beater," Etta's teeth chattered as she felt the cold seeping into her bones. She hated being ill, but hated the fact that the cold effected her worse then others.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

Huh?! The game had started already?! June was immediately jerked from her state of semi-hypothermia as she saw a black ball hurtle towards Amber. She quickly raised her bat and flew after it, shivering as her robes did not help keep in much warmth. They were made so that your body could ‘breathe’ on a hot day… well… they were also apparently made so that your body could freeze. June shivered as she pressed herself flat on her broom and flew towards where she estimated the bludger would be in a few seconds. Keeping her bat close to her body, June wondered if it would maybe warm up a bit. She didn’t want the bat cracking from stiffness once it hit something.

The Gryffindor reached the bludger and brought her bat out to her side. She shivered, hoped her aim wouldn’t be affected, and with a WHUMP! hit the bludger spinning towards Dani. June cursed the numbness that was creeping into her fingers, caused by the cold. The blow had jarred her bat and arm more than it should have… The bat was loose, falling towards the ground. Idiot November weather. June brought her arms closer to her body, though it wasn’t the best flying position, and swooped down. With her right arm, she swung out, and snatched the end of her bat. 'Thank goodness,' she thought. It would be horrible if she lost her bat this early in the game!

(Gryffindor Keeper)

Amber headed for the goals without realizing that a bludger was after her already. Once she reached the goals she saw the bludger coming for her and her eyes widened. She had forgotten that playing Hufflepuff always gaurenteed she'd have bruises. Luckily June was right behind the bludger and hit it away, looking as freezing as she felt. She shivered and wondered if there was a way to keep herself warm.

Still trying to think of a way not to freeze she circled the hoops and waited to see who got the quaffle and which way it was going to go. Hopefully a Gryffie would get it.

(Hufflepuff Beater)

Shivering with cold, Etta turned 160 degrees and raced for her life to reach Dani before the menacing bludger did.

With numb fingers, Etta pushed her broom forward, edging closer and closer to the bludger, but as she gained pace on it,it gained speed and impact towards Dani,thinking quick, Etta performed the falling badger.

Hooking her safety belt onto her broom, Etta flung herself forward off the broom and began to dive towads the bludger, the wind raced in her hair, the cold slaping at her face, numbing her cheeks and forehead, speed became her friend as she curved her body just in front of dani, inches from the bludger, Etta brought her bat down hard on the evil ball with a loud thud, sending the ball towards Katie.

Suddenly Etta was flung backwards by her safety belt and felt herself bouncing up and down in the air like a loon as she tried to climb up the rope end of the belt and gain her true place sitting on the broom.

(Hufflepuff Keeper)

::Dani smiled so the game had begun, she almost laughed at the other quidditch players shivering, she had grown up in these conditions and her everyday three mile run, rain or shine experience had made her tougher in the winter time.

::She circled her goals protecting them from the invisable qwaffles that were soaring her way.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Schuyler dived down into the pitch, hooking her cold, pale fingers under the quaffle as it was thrown into play. Mentally reminding herself to NOT die of frostbite before the quidditch game was over, Skie sped through the air and attempted the Huffle Shuffle to get a better grip on the ball. Happy that the ball was now much more securely in her grasp, she tucked it under her arm and zoomed towards the Gryffindor side of the field, grinning that the game was progressing so quickly. Looking over at Etta, Schuyler grimaced hoping that nothing was broken and that Etta would be okay.

“Get to the goalpost...” she muttered under her breath. Swinging up into the mist, she coaxed a little more speed out of her reliable Cleansweep and grinned with satisfaction as it didn't let her down.

Hufflepuff Chaser

Dragon's gasp seem to freeze in mid air in the cold weather when she realized she was late. Swinging her foot over her trusty broom, she rose up into the sky.

As she rubbed her already numb hands and blew on them, she spotted Schuyler, the other chaser had the quaffle and was racing towards the goal posts.

Speeding after her she hovered behind Schuyler, just in case her fellow huffie needed some help

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

"No!!!!" June cried, doing a quick swerve on her broom, to head in the opposite direction. She had to get to that bludger before it hit Katie!!! Her life depended on it! Well... not really.... but Katie was her friend and it would be over June's hypothermia-ed body that any of her teammates would get hurt. "Go broom go!" she muttered through gritted teeth as she pushed her broom faster and faster. June raised her bat in preparation.... BAM!!! Her bat slammed into the bludger, hitting it away from her friend. June smiled at Katie and turned to see the bludger's course. Come on... head towards Dani... you can do it.... June sent a death glare towards her bludger. It was deliberately disobeying.... She groaned. The weather must really be affecting her aim. She had put an accidental spin on the bludger, causing it to fly away from Dani, its target... and towards.. SKIE!!!!!

June did a little jig on her broom, though really, it was too cold for dancing. She laughed a little insanely as she saw her bludger heading directly for the Hufflepuff Chaser. Suddenly, June stopped laughing. She didn't want her friend to get too hurt.... she winced, hoping that Skie would get hit and hopefully drop the quaffle, but that she wouldn't be too injured.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

"Bad Becca, bad becca!" Becca yelled at herself as she scurried to the locker rooms to slip on her quidditch robes. She'd done her hair, (up in a pony tail for once), and then laid back down for what seemed like only a few seconds. Soon, however, she found herself waking on her own, and once again she realized she was going to be late for the match. Hopefully they would be delayed that day. It was her only hope for being even a tad bit on time.

But alas, as Becca hurried out on to the pitch, the match had already started along with the action. "Curse sleep," she muttered under her breath. Becca mounted her broom and kicked off, hitting a blast of cold air. She finally hit the height she wanted so that she could observe what was going on before she jumped right into the game. Becca shivered, it was a lot colder than any of the other games. Ah, there was a bludger....she followed it with her eyes, heading straight towards Skie!

But bludgers were not what Becca needed to be paying attention to. Becca shook her head once, feeling the cold air slap her face, and then looked to try and find who had possession of that quaffle...

(Gryffindor Beater)

"Shoot, shoot, shoot," Izzy yelled as she tripped down the stairs, it had been a long time since she was this late for a game. She ran into the locker rooms and threw on her Quidditich robes and grabbed her broom and bat. Izzy sprinted onto the field, before realizing that she had a broom. "Right, flying this game is about flying," she reminded herself, blinking the sun out of her eyes.

Quickly she hopped onto her broom and kicked off. Soon she saw June hurtle a bludger away from Katie straight at Skie. Sweet, Izzy thought, she HAD to make sure the bludger gave Skie a fight. "This is going to be fun," Izzy said, as she grinned wickedly.

Izzy positioned herself in between the goalposts and Skie ready to smack the bludger right back at Skie, if it somehow, possibly missed her.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Dragon flew beside Skie as they neared the goal posts, she was thankful that none of the bludgers had flew in their direction....wait was that a bludger?

Doing a sharp u-turn she squinted in the bright sunlight and realized it was indeed a bludger! “Bludger Coming! Fly away” she yelled in panic at her fellow huffie chaser as she watched it fly straight at Skie

(Gryffindor Beater)

"Oh, shoot!" Izzy muttered when she heard Dragon call out to Skie to warn her of the bludger. This was bad if Dragon kept trying to warn Skie, well......bad. "I need another bludger." Izzy thought. Suddenly she spotted one out of the corner of her eye dangling at a 90 degree angle from Skie.

"Now, to hit it to Dragon or Skie, well if I hit it toward Skie I would be hard for her to dive out of the way, but Dragon won't keep her mouth shut. Ohh, I think I have to go with Skie, its too perfect." Izzy calculated, quickly. Then grinning she shot for the bludger.

Turning and stopping quickly to give her arm mometum she slammed her bat hard into the bludger. " I am going to pay if either of these bludgers actually hit Skie!" Izzy thought. Quickly she shot off so that now she was just underneath Skie, if Skie tried to dive out of the way.

Hufflepuff Chaser

Glaring at Izzy she took matter in her own hands. Grabbing Skie's broom she started dragging her away from the target area.

(Hufflepuff Beater)

Etta finally reached her broom seat, postioning herself on it as comfortably as possible, she spun in mid air, her eyes lingering on The Gryffindor BEater who was attempting to murder her little huffles.

Kicking hard, Etta shot off through the air and sped towards Skie. Her heart in her mouth as the cold whipped at her alreadfy stiff body, Etta reached Skie quickly, grabbed her friend, pulling the startled badger onto her broom, before spinning her left arm seven times.

"LEts wind up this Bludger!" Shouted Etta as she performed the Bludgerd Badger. Her Beaters Bat was held high, her arm was in its final swing, and the bludger was inching towards her. With a big smack and a shuddering volt of power, Etta slammed her bat into the bludger and sent it flying at the speed of light towards Katie.

"Speed of light, no witch, wizard or muggle can beat that," whispered Etta to Skie as she turned around to face her and grinned.

(Gryffindor Beater)

Izzy glanced nervously at the bludger, hoping that Katie would realize what was coming at her. Izzy tried to shout at Katie. "Shoot," Izzy thought, " Well, that was my payback for trying to hit Skie." She glanced around worriedly hoping that June was somewhere to tell her what to do.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

Oh.. no… June’s mouth opened wide as she gasped. Her eyes tracked the bludger’s course and fell upon its target: Katie. She raised her bat, urging her broom in her friend’s direction, but in her mind, she knew that it was useless. Etta’s bludger was just going to quickly to intercept. There was only one thing she could do. Putting both hands to her mouth, June screamed, “KATIE!!!!!! DUCK!!!!!!!!” June felt useless as she watched the bludger spiral closer and closer to her friend. Suddenly spinning around, she glared at Ettie.

The Hufflepuff had helped Skie escape one bludger, and had directed that ball towards Katie… but she had forgotten about the other one. Looking around in Skie’s general area, June searched for the second bludger that Izzy had hit. Her eyes darted to and fro, ready to lock onto any black dot… THERE! June flattened herself upon her broom, wincing at the icy feeling emanating off her broomstick, and flew straight for that bludger. Come on…. Just a tiny bit faster… June was nearing her goal… She raised her bat and slammed it down on the bludger that was jerking in different directions. She sighed and watched as her white breath flew higher into the air… along with the bludger. A small smile appeared on her lips as she saw her second bludger flying faster and faster towards the quaffle in Skie’s arms.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Skie was jerked out off to the side suddenly as Dragon pulled her away from the bludger that seemed to be destined to whack her in the face. Sticking her tongue out childishly at Izzy, and smiling apologetically at Dragon, Skie ducked out of the air as June's beloved bludger whizzed over her head, missing her by just inches.

"Whew... Thanks Dragon!" Schuyler smiled for a moment and then returned to the task at hand, getting the scarlet ball into the big hoop on the other side of the field. Muttering vague curses about being a chaser with friends that were beaters on the other team, Skie pulled her broom through the air enjoying the cold November wind and knowing what a hindrance it was to cold-haters. Weaving to avoid any bludgers that were so kindly sent her way, Skie swerved up in front of the goalpost and sent a arcing shot straight into the Gryffindor goal. Listening to the sweet ding of the bell with satisfaction, Schuyler smiled.

"Hufflepuffs do it better" She whispered sofly under her breath.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

Shivering slightly and grumbling a bit more, Cris made her way onto the Quidditch pitch. She had been held in detention late the other night and overslept an hour, not even having time for the warm-up gymanstics she had planned before this first chilly november match. What's more, she had to return all the way to Gryffindor Tower after she had realised it was so cold, that her hands would freeze on her broom and her chances of catching the snitch were looking grim. She grabbed a pair of warm gloves with rubber fingertips and palm covering, which she had ordered from the Which Broomstick, and also digged to the bottom of her trunk for her thicker Gryffindor scarf.

Thus equipped, she was as ready for the game as she'd ever be, but it was with an inner sigh that she pushed herself from the ground, into up the chilly highs.

She noticed that the game had already started and waved to her teammates, then her eyes fell onto a great Gryffindor banner carried by Aliza and a merrily red-and-gold painted .. thing behind June's back. She burst into laugh as she realised she had painted her broom's tail, then had to turn her head around as she heard a cheer of "Go Gryffindoooor!" come from a familiar, rough voice .... oh, someone must have had moved the lion painting from the Gryffindor common room, because it was now floating above the specators' stands! She grinned, and shouted "GO GRYFFINDOR!"a few times as loudly as she could. And again. And again... totaling about .. ten times, give or take.

She wasn't sure, but she thought she might be feeling some angry Huffies' looks or bludgers soon, if she didn't shut up, so she figured she'd better focus on the game...

Looking around, she saw... well, she didn't see much in one direction, that was for sure, the sun was blinding her. "Another obstacle?", she asked herself and squinted her eyes. Nothing on the horizon so far, but it was always good to keep a lookout. She needed to move anyway, in order not to freeze but she wouldn't be too fast as long as it wasn't required - she wasn't too keen on the sharp wind beating against her face.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

Becca banged her feet against each other under her broom. She cursed under her breath partly from the fact that the other team had just scored and partly because it really hurt when her ankles hit each other. She glared over at the hufflepuff player ad then turned her attention back to the quaffle as it was being put back in play. It was time to turn it up a notch or two. Becca looked around for a few seconds, waved to Tina, and then slapped herself for loosing her attention again. "bad becca," she muttered to herself for what seemed like the millionth time that day.

Becca had her arms wide open as she got the quaffle. She tried to close her arms around it as fast as she could, but it almost fell. "That was a close one," she muttered to herself. Becca spun around and headed toward the Hufflepuff goal posts. The wind smacked against her face wildly, making her whole face seem sort of numb. It was very uncomfortable, to say the least.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

Cris saw Becca wave back and smiled, then admired the way she caught the quaffle. "Original!", she thought giggling. But the next second she was all "Goooo Becca!", seeing how she had sped off to the Hufflepuff goalposts. She followed her with her eyes but then suddenly was distracted by something fluttering for a short moment next to Becca's broomtail. Was it possible - ? There was only one way to find out, she concluded and hurried after Becca. The problem was that she was afraid she'd scare Becca or even make her somehow lose the Quaffle, but there was only one thing she could do, so she shouted, "Becca! It's me, Cris, behind you! Don't worry, just keep flying, ok?" Hoping her message had reached her teammate, she bent forward on her broom and held tightly, as she was gaining ever more speed. If only it wasn't for that cold...

(Gryffindor Beater and co-Captain)

June cursed as Skie successfully evaded her bludgers again, and narrowed her eyes as the Hufflepuff scored a goal. She muttered under her breath as she quaffle was once again thrown into play. Her mood quickly lifted as Becca caught the quaffle! … though it was close. June looked around, but no bludgers were in sight. She rolled her eyes, knowing one would turn up eventually, but that didn’t make her any less irritated. Eyeing her Chaser, June knew that it wouldn’t be long before some Hufflepuffs attempted to steal the quaffle. Following this train of thought, June flew lower on her broom until she was a bit above her friend. Raising one half-frozen hand to her mouth, June said, “I’ve got you covered!”

Actually, June suddenly realized that she was covering two players. She grinned. There was Cris, near Becca’s broom. June’s heart skipped… maybe the snitch? She called out, “I’ve got you covered too Cris!” Hoping her teammates had gotten the message, June steadied her broom against fierce gust of wind and shivered.

(Gryffindor Chaser)

Becca smiled slightly as she heard Tina yell behind her. Of course, her head still snapped around, even with her friend telling her who she was behind her. Becca sped foward a bit, pushing her broom. Becca tried to grip the quaffle as tight as she possibly could, but we all know how becca gets when she concentrates too much. The cold that was slowly numbing her fingers took over anad becca accidently forgot about the red ball in her arms and brought her hands up to warm them. The quaffle dropped below her. Becca felt the weight of the ball be relived and she figured out what she had done. "BAD BECCA!" she screamed loudly, suddenly aware that everyone could hear her.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Schuyler flinched under the glares she seemed to be getting from the Gryffindor team.

“If looks could kill... “ She mumbled. Well, if they could, she would be very dead right now. Skie was startled by a sudden movement in front of her as she saw one of the Gryffindor chasers, Becca, whiz past her with something under her arm. Trying to discern what it was, Schuyler blinked clearing away the spots that the sun was creating in her eyes. A large red dot.... No the quaffle! Mentally slapping herself, Skie looked around for bludgers just in case June got any ideas.

“What else would a chaser be holding?! Duh!” Still chastising herself for her stupidity, Schuyler deemed that the coast was clear and zoomed after Becca to catch the quaffle that had just been dropped.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

June hummed happily as she followed Becca’s path, watching out for any bludgers that might obstruct her path to the goals. She was feeling pretty hopeful about getting a goal… when she saw a red dot fall to the ground. Wait… what was that?! She flew down next to Becca, just to make sure it was a random red thing and not the quaffle… right?! June gasped as Becca screamed at herself. It WAS the quaffle!!! June felt stupid for not realizing that sooner… time was wasted! She quickly said, “I’ll be right back” to Becca and dived. She flattened herself on her broom, hoping that she would go faster. It worked… but just a little. At an almost 90 degree angle, June coughed a little as she found herself almost reaching the quaffle…. The wind blew her hair from her face, drying out her eyes and her mouth. June held out her bat… Almost there… WHUMP! June swung her bat with all her remaining strength, hitting the quaffle with it.

June sighed and leveled her broom. She slumped on it, trying to regain her energy. Her arms fell limp by her sides... she felt weak from the steep dive in such chilling weather. She could only hope that Becca had caught the quaffle. When she felt strong enough to fly quickly once more, June rose slowly, higher and higher in the air. She smiled weakly, letting people she was okay. Strangely, today’s game seemed to be taking a lot more out of her than games normally did… June nodded at Becca and breathed warm air onto her hands. She resumed shadowing once more.

(gryffindor chaser)

"June, I love you!" becca laughed hysterically as she got ready to try and catch the quaffle that June had just hit with the beater bat. Becca caught it, and it was another miracle that she didn't drop it yet again. Becca took off again once she thought she had a good grip on it and headed toward the hufflepuff posts again, not lettting herself go too fast. Becca knew that if she speed up too much, she wouldn't be able to slow down enough to throw and she'd end up running through the goal posts. So, becca took just a bit more time to get to where she wanted to be.

Becca took a deep breath as she came up and got ready to shoot, and then she swung her arm back, then foward, and felt the red ball leave her hands and head toward the goal posts. Becca immediently crossed her fingers and closed one of her eyes and squinting the other one. "Oh please oh please go in!" she muttered to herself.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

She followed her friend, shadowing her. The floating portrait of the lion roared, “GO GO GRYFFINDOR!” and the Gryffindor supporters in the crowd echoed the sentiment. June smiled as she and her friend got closer to the Hufflepuff goals. Oooo!!!! June’s head snapped to the left. A black ball!!!!! A bludger!!!! June momentarily left her post and sprinted after the prize. It was darting from the left to the right… and vice versa. As if it didn’t want her to hit it. What wonderful logic. June grimaced as she flew closer to the bludger. There! With a tap of her bat, she had the bludger in her control. June flew with it rapidly back to Becca, just in case any other bludgers decided to attack her friend. At that moment, Becca threw the quaffle up into the air.

A mischievous grin appeared on June’s face; her energy was back and she was pumped once more. Cheers of GO GO GRYFFINDOR from the crowd and from the floating lion portrait were very good medicine. The instant Becca made her move, June knew what to do. They had often practiced this move and used it to great effect in previous games. She was confident that this would work. June calculated her timing and drew her bat back. With a CRACK! Her bat slammed into the quaffle, sending it soaring towards the Hufflepuff hoops… or… not… June grimaced. Her aim was really off today… she had sent the quaffle flying to the left of one of thehoops…

(gryffindor chaser)

Becca groaned. Oh no, oh no. what was she going to do? Becca knew she had to at least attempt to save that goal. Becca speed off toward where the red ball was headed and tried to think quickly. A split second later and she had thought of something. it was a long shot, as were most of her plans, but it could work with some luck. As soon as becca was close enoug, she spun around quickly and knocked the edge of her broom against the red quaffle. It sped off quickly bad toward the left goal post. "C'mon, C'mon!" becca screamed. This just had to work, it was most likely their last chance at getting this goal. And with Becca's clumsiness, this might be the only shot she had at making a goal all game.

Becca watched for a few seconds...and then YES!!!!!!!! The quaffle went straight through the goal post. "YAYYYYYYY!" She squealed at the top of her lungs. Yes! "Good team work!" she called out to June.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

"AAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!" Schuyler moaned, aware that everything she said was heard in the crowds below. How could it be so? As the quaffle was thrown back into play by the ever lovely Madam Hooch, Skie swooped and picked it up, grateful that it was a good catch.

"Thank you!" she called mischeviously, her good spirits returning. Tha game wasn't over yet! Doing and about face, Schuyler zoomed towards the Gryffindor goal with the quaffle securely under her arm.

"Well, at least if I freeze, I'lll freeze to the quaffle," she mumbled as she began to feel the cold seep through her bones. On the lookout for any bludger, beater, or chaser 'friends' who would very much enjoy stealing away her beloved quaffle, Skie swung up into the air and squinted her eyes against the cold and hoped for the best.

(Hufflepuff Beater)

Vaguely amused at how June was attempting to be both chaser and beater at the same time, Streams swooped carefully up and down the pitch, and then grinned. In her delight at being able to hit the Quaffle into the hoops, June had abandoned the bludger, which Streams now happily claimed, lightly smashing her bat into it to propel it away from the Gryffies.

As she considered whom to hit with the bludger, Streams juggled it from left to right, and did an upside down loop on her broom, deftly poking the bludger mid-loop...she was only slightly bored but apparently she could've used more sleep the night before as her eyes threatened to close.

Drawing back her arm, she smacked her bat into the bludger with a satisfying crack and watched as it hurtled towards Becca. With any luck, it would smash straight into her nose...

Gryffindor Chaser

"Becca! Watch Out!" Katie cried as she saw a bludger heading straight toward her friend. Katie couldn't stay to watch if her warning was enough because she was too busy trying to retrive the quaffle Becca had just scored with.. However, she was finding it hard to locate.. maybe the cold had something to do with it.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Schuyler flinched as her eyes watered and tears raced past her cheeks freezing as they went in a testiment to her speed. Clutching the quaffle even closer to her body, Skie made a mental note to suggest that someone put a warming spell on the quaffle for cold days. Looking below her, Schuyler saw Streams hit a bludger straight for Becca's nose.

"Ouch," she muttered, though still hoping the bludger would hot its mark. Such is the game of quidditch, you hit the bludger for the other team and no matter how much you like them, you must demolish them. Satisfied that the coast was reasonably clear, Skie dove down level with the goalpost that she was aiming at. Still to far away for an assurred shot! Leaning forward to elicit what speed she could from her broom Schuyler gathered the quaffle into a better position and prepared it to leave her fingers.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

Skie had the quaffle… Skie was flying towards the goals… Skie was about to shoot… AS IF JUNE WOULD LET THAT HAPPEN!!! June dived, heading for an errant bludger that she’d had her eye on. Unfortunately, the cold had kept her from snatching it until the last moment, as a last resort. June lunged, her bat stretched out far… The bludger suddenly changed course, however, and headed in the exact opposite direction. “Stupid bludger!” June cried and shivered as she skidded to a halt and raced after it. She shuddered as the wind blew against her, forcing her to slow... but NO! She couldn't do that!

June bent low on her broom, increasing her speed... barely. But was it enough? She could see the bludger in front of her. If it had an expression, June would bet that it was deciding whether to dart left or right. The Gryffindor Beater didn't give it a chance. She reached the bludger and with a quick sharp glance towards the Hufflepuff Chaser, charted her bludger's prospective course. With a BAM!, her bat crashed into the black ball, sending it spinning on a crash course directly for Skie’s fingertips.

(Hufflepuff Beater)

"Oh no you don't," streams murmured, fully awake now as with narrowed eyes she saw a bludger headed for Skie. She rushed to intercept it but flew too fast and overshot her mark. She turned and watched as the bludger drew nearer to Skie...Streams propelled herself in that direction again but was afraid she would be too late.

She deliberately switched the bat to her left hand and stretched out her arm, holding the bat, grimacing in anticipation of what would happen. Sure enough, the bludger slammed into her bat, halting in its course for one brief second before flitting away. Meanwhile, Streams groaned as her wrist was wrenched painfully backwards...she drew back, transferring her bat back to her right hand as she nursed her left wrist. "Probably sprained," she sighed.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Dragon followed Skie as they both raced towards the goal posts.As Skie neared the posts, Dragon held her breath and waited to see if the quaffle will go in.

(Hufflepuff Seeker)

"Oh crap! What was I thinking!?" Jazmo screams, running frantically around the Huffie locker room, trying to force her teams uniform over the layers of clothing she wore. ''I just had to dance like mad last night, and then-" she pulled on her shoes, "-FAINT!"

Jazmo scrambled towards the broom cupboard, flinging the doors open and grabbed a random school broom ("Just had to leave my own back in the common room too!") and ran onto the pitch. Throwing a leg over her broom, she sighed dejectedly as she noticed a blanket of some sort sticking out of her pant leg.

"No wonder I felt uncomfortable...To heck with it all though!" She swung a leg over the random broom, rubbed her hands together, and kicked off the ground hard.

"Just had to forget about my sunglasses too!" Jazmo muttered darkly, glaring at the sun.

Once spotting them (and their very loud shouts), Jazmo sent a wink towards June, waved to her teammates energetically, and after much cold-weather cursing, scanned the pitch for the snitch.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

Waving at Jazmo she scanned the skies once more for bludgers. As her fellow chaser threw the quaffle in the hoop Dragon rubbed her hands together in attempt to warm them. Humming a random song under her breath she squinted against the bright sunlight to see where the quaffle was now.

Spotting it behind Jazmo, the hufflepuff seeker, she did a sharp u-turn and shot to it- barely stopping to grab it before she circled back to the hoops.

(Gryffindor Beater and Co-Captain)

She felt so stupid… nothing she hit seemed to hit its target! June sighed in exasperation, frustration, and obliteration as her eyes searched the air for a bludger. There? No… that black dot was a Hufflepuff flag. She turned her head quickly to the left as something darted past her eyes. There? No… that was Aliza’s Gryffindor banner. How she confused red with black escaped her, but June was annoyed all the same. She flew higher, wondering if a higher vantage point would help her search, when she noticed something flitting behind her friend’s red banner. What was that?! June’s senses were on high alert and the instant she saw that, she turned her broom, clenched her legs around her broomstick, and dived. Hoping that Aliza would know that she wasn’t trying to hit her, June flew straight towards her co-captain… or rather her co-captain’s banner.

There! A little smile appeared on June’s face as she saw a bludger. She risked one second to scan the pitch, and then raced after the bludger. The pesky black ball had decided to play hide and seek… which was even more frustrating because June definitely didn’t want to rip Aliza’s masterpiece. She rolled her eyes. “Oh bludger…. Where ARE you?????” June flew in circles around the banner beneath her friend’s flag. Suddenly, she braked. The bludger had just flown to the other side of the flag! Her eyes narrowed in determination and she flew beneath the flag. Here, she could see two sides of it at one. There, the bludger! It was lingering near the middle, as if deciding where to go. In that split second of indecision, June raised her bat high but didn’t rise, not wanting to hit Aliza, and brought it straight down on the bludger. She quickly moved to the side, not wanting to get hit herself, and dived after it as the black ball hurtled to the ground. June tracked its every move. She was still chilled by the abnormal cold, but that didn’t matter as much now.

Play time was over Huffles… They would see what happened when June got mixed with frustration, exasperation, determination, and a slight garnish of obliteration. The Gryffindor followed the bludger, shadowing it as she would a fellow player, flying slightly below her target. She guided the disobedient black ball with various taps of her bat, causing it to change direction whenever she deemed fit. The bludger grudgingly followed her directions and always seemed on the edge of rebellion… June, grateful of her good luck, finally maneuvered the bludger to where she wanted it to be. She gave it a round of eight rapid taps, around the enter circumference, to keep it stalled in place for a few seconds. Then, June hung onto her broom for dear life as she began to loop the bludger. She bit her lip as she looped ever faster and faster, always one eye on the rebellious bludger and one on her target. When she felt enough momentum had been gained, June changed the course of her loop, brought her bat up, and slammed it into the bludger, sending it spiraling downwards, straight towards Ingrid.

Gryffindor Chaser

Katie watched as Skie scored and Ingrid got the quaffle as soon it went back in play. She now trailed Ingrid hoping a bludger would come to help her out.

(Gryffindor Seeker)

While following the snitch, Cris had thought she'd heard someone flying next to her... Juney! The though of having a reliable Gryffindor beater next to her was indeed comforting and she was feeling extremely thankful.

Unfortunately, what didn't go as well as Gryffindor teamwork was her work on getting that stubborn snitch! Just as Becca was struggling not to let the Quaffle fall, she had trouble herself, as the snitch changed its course - downwards. She only had time to hear a cry of "Bad Becca!", before she was dragged towards the ground. (Ok, she wasn't really dragged... but seen as her body had gotten used to instinctively follow the snitch's direction, it was more or less the same.)

She couldn't foresee, however, that the snitch would be so particularly difficult to catch that day. After she had followed it right up to the very last moment in which she could avoid hitting the ground (she would have somehow had a deja-vu in that case...), then it flew right back where it had come from, at unbelievable speed, almost touching the ground. It didn't offer Cris much of a choice - she had to do a brave, actually rather suicidal move and turn while flying with her back to the ground, holding to her broom for dear life. She was so close to the ground, that there was hardly an inch between her robes and the solid, cold earth beneath and it was strangely resembling a morbid grave that day, even though the sun was shining so hard. Maybe it had something to do with the fact she was in danger of hitting it any second, she thought. And it might have also had something to do with the fact that her thoughts were a bit disturbed by the fact that her head was hanging upside-down. Sighing innerly, she gathered all her strenght to roll over the broom into the right position and -

... the 2 seconds she had needed for that were exactly how long it took for the snitch to zoom out of sight.

Now that she wasn't in the heat of the chase anymore, she was starting to feel the cold that had gotten into her bones all along. She slowed down and rose to overlook the whole pitch. She could there keep a lookout while at the same time doing some exercises to warm up - the best plan she could come up with at that point.

(Hufflepuff Chaser)

"Oh god, oh god..." Schuyler muttered to herself in worry. There was a bludger heading for Ingrid and in a straight line that could only end in a LOT of pain. Bludgers were dangerous and useful, but not when they're heading for your teamate! Spinning a full 360, Skie swerved and attempted to rush to Dragon's aide and pull her away from June's doubtlessly painful bludger.

"DRAGON! BLUDGER! LOOK!" she screamed. Coaxing more speed out of her broom, she attempted to race to Dragon's rescue, but in the very least, catch the quaffle if it fell. The cold wind bit at her skin as she whizzed through the air to Dragon's position.
