Yule Ball

In the time-honoured tradition of Hogwarts, we present to you our Yule Ball.

The Great Hall is a resplendant palace of ice, with iridescent lights and sparkling snowflakes all around.

If you participate in the Yule Ball, you can earn housepoints for the following categories, with a maximum of 60 points per person available:
· Outfit: description, picture, doll
· Music Suggestions
· Participation
· RPG style and creativity

Willow strode into the Great Hall, her boyfriend Dan holding her arm. In the light her white dress shimmered, the tiny black beads sparkling. The Slytherin pendent around her neck glittering, the emerald shining like a star.

Dan looked at her and smiled, his perfect smile, beautiful like the ice sculptures around them.

He lead her to a table and pulled the chair out for her to sit down like a perfect gentleman, “I’ll be back in a minute,” he said, pecking her on the cheek. Willow blushed and waited for him to get some Butterbeer.

Cassidy entered the ball room, serenely humming one of her favourite Christmas songs and smiling. She was wearing a knee-long dress with fluffy short sleeves and decent, yet dazzling red glitter with a cut not exactly ball-ish, but she loved it, as it reminded her of anime girls.

The room was yet pretty empty, but she could spot a girl she hadn't yet talked to sitting at a table nearby. Wondering whether the girl was alone and feeling quite chatty, she went up to her and asked, "Hey, can I sit with you? I'm Cassidy, by the way."

Willow looked at Cassidy's dress, red and bold. Was she a Gryffindor?

"I like your dress, but i doubt i could pull of something like that, its too bright for me.

I haven't met you before - I'm Willow, Slytherin - your enemies!"

She laughed and accepted the bottle of Butterbeer off Dan, who had just come back.

"I'll see you around Cassidy - are you dancing later?"

Stephy entered the ball looking around the room with a grim look on her face. Her mother had just bought her a blue dress to wear for just this ocassion and she hated to wear dresses. She kept telling her mom that she didnt want to go but instead her mother forced her to go and along with wearing a dress she also had to wear some makeup, how she hated both. Her dress was a light blue that fell down to her feet, blocking her feet from being viewed. She also had on some long sleaves that were a little darker blue than her dress but not by much. Looking around she quickly spotted some other people already there and decided that since she was in a bad mood she might as well as try to avoid them so not to make them feel miserable too.

She quickly made her way to one of the tables, nearing bearking her neck from her high heels as she fell to the ground. Stephy didnt normally wear high heels and wished she would of had practiced walking in the before she came. Getting up off of the floor while she her face turned bright red, she quickly took her seat and waited to see who else was to come

"Iain, answer me honestly this time," said Elana with a stern glare at her date - Iain Maitland. She still had him for a few more days, and she wasn't about to show up to the ball by her lonesome when Jenn had given her most of her rp men (or, in this case, guys from books) for the week. She stopped him a step before he entered the Great Hall, and asked, "Is my tiara on straight? Last time it wasn't and-"

"It's perfect," he interrupted, smiling as he brushed a curl that had landed on her cheek behind her ear. He was, surprisingly, not dressed in his usual plaid. Elana had convinced him to trade that for a nice white tux with a vest and tie nearly the same shade as her dress, of course. She had left her hair down, a glittering tiara her only ornament. Her dress was a pretty light blue, had a halter top, and was fitted until her hips. There, it flowed out, ending below her knees. "Now," he continued, "before we're late, would you mind heading inside?"

Grinning, he wrapped his arm around her and together they entered the lavishly decorated Great Hall. Before long, their hair was covered with the snowflaked lightly falling from the ceiling, so that whenever they moved slightly, the snow would sparkle even more. Elana smiled - it was so beautiful, this room of ice, and barely recognizable as their Great Hall. She was glad that the floor wasn't slippery like real ice, though, for she didn't feel like making a total fool of herself by slipping and falling. Not that Iain would let anything like that happen to her...(ty Jenn XD) She smiled at the other HErs that had come, but before she could say hello, a familiar classic tune, Winter Wonderland, hit Elana's ears. Her smile broadened, and, though he didn't know the song, Iain couldn't pass up a dance.

He took her hand in his, gray eyes sparkling. "Shall we?" he asked, and, without waiting for an answer, swept her over to the cleared dance floor.

Skie walked into the Great Hall cursing her curiosity. Yes, curiosity killed the cat and it would probably be her death too. She stepped out from under the lights and realized that almost everyone had a date. Feeling extremely self concious, she walked around the dancers and sat down to rest her aching feet. Dressed in a white dress that emphasized her skinny figure, a string of black pearls around her neck, round toed high heels (a throw-back of the eighties that she got on ebay for 10 bucks), chunky black bracelets, and fishnet tights that raced up her leg, Skie looked like a gothic princess. Touching her pitch black hair, to which she had added white streaks to for the occasion, she scratched her head and wondered if anyone she knew would come. Turning her head, she saw someone sitting next to her and looking just as bored as she was.

"Hey, I'm Skie," she mumbled to the girl.

As Polly entered the Ball she was glad that there was not many people there as to draw attention to her. Walking straight to the food table she felt slightly self conscious in this long pale pink gown and had fussed around for hours pondering the question as to if she was over dressed for the occasion. As it seemed she was not and when she saw this fact she relaxed.
Fumbling about with the little star grip that was amongst her dark curls Polly began to wander slowly towards the crowd of people.
"Hey guys" she said softly before looking down at her little feet that were endorsed in silver shoes with tiny diamond gems on them. The exact same silver that her hair piece was made of.

"Chrystenna, you look beautiful" The boy at the door to the great hall said, as she walked down the staircase twards her date. He was wearing a black tux, with a red tie. His light blonde hair was a bit messy, and his one shoe was united, but she thought he looked amazing.
"You look great too" Chrystenna said to her date, Tanner. She held out her arm for him, and he took it. High elegance was of a bit of importance to her. Therefore, she kept her head held high, and strutted her stuff all the way into the great hall.
"I am goning to go get us somthing to drink" Tanner said.
"Hurry back" She shouted to him, as he dissappearedinto the crowd.
"Dance, Dance, and these are the lies we love to lead"
She loved this song, but she didnt want to dance alone. So she went and sat down at a table near the dance floor.
"Here you go" Tanner was back.
"That was fast" She said. She couldn't stop staring at him, and his beautiful blue eyes. She took a sp of her drink.
"Well, wanna put your stuff down and go dance" He asked. He looked bloody nervous, and she couldn't say no.
"Sure" she said. He led her onto the dance floor, just as a slow song started.
"I dont wanna go anther day. So Im tellin you exzactly what is on my mind"
She had better hope he was as good a dancer as he was handsome.

Stephy looked up and saw another girl whom introduced herself as Skie. "Hello Skie, Im Stephy" she replied back. "If you want to you can take a seat. I dont bite. I might look like Im in a bad mood but i promise I wont bite." she joked

“I can’t believe you made me wear these…these…breeches.” Brodick complained as he tugged at his jeans that Jenn purchased for him earlier that day. His blonde locks rustled against his suit collar as he laid his piercing blue gaze on Jenn. “It’s so confining and suffocating.”

Jenn rolled her eyes as she patted the curls in place once again. “I told you, it wouldn’t be suitable for you to wear the plaid. People will stare…” She snuck an admiring glance at Brodick’s handsome features. “Although perhaps they’ll stare anyway. But stop being such a baby, you don’t see Ramsey complaining.”

“But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to.” Ramsey muttered quietly, yet not directly at Jenn, being the diplomat as he was. He wore a simple pair of black slacks and a black button down shirt that contrasted perfectly with his dark brown hair.

“I heard that.” Jenn said with a smile as she slipped a hand under each of her dates. “Now each of you bee good okay?” Leading, as she refused to think of it as dragging, she led both of them into the large decorated ballroom. Her simple white dress swished against her legs as the black sash clenched her waist perfectly. As her brown eyes quickly scanned the room, a large grin broke out on her face as she saw Iain twirling Elana around the dance floor.

As the song ended, Elana found herself smiling a dazed smile up at Iain, as he returned a more controled content expression. "Care for a drink?" he asked. At her nod, he winked, saying, "I'll be right back then - don't run off."

Still smiling, she nodded again, and let his hand slip out of hers as he left for the refreshment table. She clasped her hands behind her back, swaying back and forth on her heels, and let her eyes move around the Hall for any more familiar faces. A tall blonde, about a head taller than the others around him, caught her attention - she gasped. Surely that wasn't Brodick! And by him - Jenn? With Ramsey as well? Briefly wondering if their entire clan would show up before the night ended, Elana took a swift glance over at the refreshment table. Iain was still getting drinks, so she should have time to say a quick hello to Jenn and the others before he came looking for her, right? She bit the inside of her cheek, took another look at Jenn and the guys, and sped off before her logic could tell her to stop.

Oh was Iain going to be furious.

But he would understand (eventually) - she would make him.

"What a lovely surprise," exclaimed Elana as she came to Jenn, Brodick, and Ramsey. Giving them each a hug, she said, "Jenn, you look absolutely gorgeous! Oh, you too, of course," she directed towards Brodick and Ramsey. She took another look through the crowd to the refreshment table, and didn't see Iain there. Cursing inwardly, Elana grimaced. "Before he thinks I've been kidnapped, I've got to get back to Iain," she said with a roll of her green eyes. "He's getting so paranoid..." With that, she dashed back to Iain, quickly explained, then ~~dragged~~ took him back to the others.

"Well that's good! I don't really like getting bitten..." Skie smiled at Stephy and was glad that someone looked like they could have a good time without dancing for hours and hours at a time. "So, why'd you come here? I come becuase I thought it might be interesting but.... well, there's still a little bit of time before I fall asleep..." Skie grimaced.

Polly fumbled around with her clip, and walked over to stephy and skie. "Hey you too," she said bending down to pull her friend into a tight hug. "You both look wonderful* she said with a sweet smile.
Wondering to herself how Skie had got her hair like she had it felt weird for Polly to see her without her Quidditch robes as the two of them had met on the pitch.

"Thanks! I absolutely love your dress too, where'd you get it?" Skie smiled at Polly, glad that someone who she already kind of knew was there. "So, do you dance or are you here for the food?" she giggled. "I'm here for the food.... If I tried to dance I might endanger the school...."

"Thank you" she replied to her new friend. "I got it from Madam Malkins and yours?" Polly giggled at the second question.
"A bit of both maybe after a few firewhiskeys my feet might find their way onto the dance floor." And with that Polly walked over to the small section with firewhiskeys placed on the side. Taking one for herself she offered Skie a glass.

"Thanks!" Skie said as she took the firewhisky. "You know, later on, I might go just a wee bit crazy from this stuff," she said mischeviously. "But anyway, I got my dress from this muggle store that I saw when I was on my way home one time..." Skie's face looked vague as she tried to remember where she had gotten the dress. "I think it was... Hot Topic? Or something like that... Isn't that a weird name or what?" she said with a smile. Taking a long swig of her firewhisky, she grimaced slightly as it burned her throat slightly. Smiling loosely as the effects began to kick in, she realized that tonight may not be as bad as she thought it would be...

"Hey Polly" Stephy exclaimed once she saw her best friend. She turned back to Skie and answered her question. "I just came becuase my mom thought that it would be fun if I did" she said with a sour look on her face. "I would like dances and stuff if I just didnt have to wear a dress" she luaghed.

Stephy then turned back to Polly and said "Polly I love your dress. It looks pretty on you"

"Thank you, yours is too." Polly said back to Stephy whilst admiring the outfit she was wearing. Turning back to Amy she said; "Sure one sec." And draining the rest of her firewhiskey she grabbed hold of Stephy and Skie's hands and dragged them onto the dance floor.

(ag167, this is a Yule Ball made for house points so we RP as ourselves. For example Stephy uses the name Stephy instead on Oddie and you will use your real name, Amy instead of Willow ^.^)

Skie's face was totally serious as she remembered all to well the last time she had tried to dance... shuddering, she pondered for a moment, but still gave herself a no. What if... no... Maybe... no... Well, ok after deciding that, what the heck, if a few people died while she tripped over their helpless feet, to bad for them! Spinning onto the dance floor after Stephy, she twirled around with her arms in the air, doubtlessly looking like an idiot, but she really couldn't care less.

Skie laughed with Amy as she sang Christmas carols loudly. "I want a hippopotamus for Christmas!" She screamed still spinning in a dizzying manner. Tripping over her high heel, and perhaps the effects of her earlier firewhiskey, she landed on her knees, still giggling. Standing up woozily Skie resumed spinning, but less enthusiastically as she began to feel just a little tired.

Rose walking in cautiously, her arm wrapped around her boyfriend, Trevor. She glanced around nervously and followed him as he led her to the dance floor. She was wearing a beautiful black and red dress she had gotten at that Hot Topic store with Skie. She wore black leggings and big, buckled black boots. She was also wearing her fishnet armbands and a black choker with an upside down heart dangling from it. Trevor glanced over at her. "You ok?"

Rose nodded and tried to make her voice sound calm. "Fine." Looking around she noticed Skie dancing with Polly. "I'll be back", she siad to her boyfriend. "Go get us some butterbeer." She walked over to them.

"ROSE!" Skie forgot all about dancing as she raced towards her friend. "I missed you so much! How've you been?" She asked giving her best friend a huge hug. "Did you bring Trevor?" Skie asked, searching for his head in the crowd. "I love your dress! It looks even better now than when we first go it..." Skie really did love the dress that Rose had bought. "Are those new fishnets?" She asked curiously. They were strangely unripped unlike the ones that she wore most of the time...

Giggling Rose welcomed her friends hug. "I've been great, yes, I brought Trevor, and yes, these are new fishnets." Rose took a step back and examined Skie. "You don't look bad, if I do say so myself, Skie." Grabbing her hand Rose pulled her towards the dance floor. "I'm to shy to dance with Trevor. Mind helping me get my dance in the right place?"

Polly laughed along with her friends as she danced away starting to feel light headed. Summoning a firewhiskey, Polly began dancing whilst drinking and she assidentaly split her drink all over her.
"Darn" she muttered before performing a drying spell to get rid of the stain.

Once Stephy slipped off her shoes she too started to twirl around in circles until she got too dizzy and satrted to trip and fall all over the place. After about her fifth fall Stephy decided that it would be better to get off the dance floor before she broke one of her bones.

Quickly racing off the dance floor, Stephy started to look around the room and quickly stopped Polly among all of the students. On her way over to Polly, Stephy watched as she spilled on kind of liquid on her.

"Be carefull Polly, your suppose to drink that not wear it" she joked as Polly used a spell to dry it all up

<color=yellow>Skie giggled as Stephy ceased whirling around the dance floor, looking a bit like a demented ghost, because of the curse of clumsy feet. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Polly spill a little bit of firewhiskey on her dress. "Uh-oh, I hope it won't stain at all..." She said as Polly performed a drying spell to try to get rid of any stain that might appear. Turning to Rose, who was standing and looking sheepishly at the dance floor, she said "C'mon, We'll dance in a minute.... as soon as my feet stop throbbing from these stupid shoes." Dragging Rose over to a place where they could sit, she plopped down onto a bench and stretched her legs out in front of her. "Do people make shoes just to be painful?" she asked sarcastically.</color>

Rose giggled. "I guess some do." Looking around Rose spotted a group of goth males over by the drinks. "Oh oh." Skie followed her gaze. "Don't even think about it, Skie."

"whew!" Chrystenna thought. She and Tanner had danced since they got there. Now, she needed some time away from him. He went off to find some guys to talk to. She, on the other hand, walked up to a group of girls sitting on the bench.

Rose looked up at Chrystenna and blinked. "Oh!' she said. "Your, um...Chrysty?"
She looked down shyly and tied her shoelace. Then, she scooted over to make room for Chrsystenna. "Come sit." Rose smiled.

Standing up slowly, she winced as one of her ankles buckled a little beneath her, a response to her shoes and her earlier drink. "Well, what's the point of a party if you don't get a little wasted?" Skie had one of those 'Ah-Ha' moments as she declared her thought. Walking over to the table where the drinks were set out, she grabbed four firewhiskeys. Levitating them took some effort, but she managed to weave through the crowds without to much trouble... "Got whiskey?" she asked jokingly when she returned.</color>

Rose smiled. She almost jumped out of her seat when Trevor tapped on her shoulder. He was holding two glasses of butterbeer. "Oh", said Rose. He handed on to her. "Thanks."

Taking a sip Trevor kindly bowed his head to the other girls. "How do you do."

Rose turned red and grabbed his hand. "Lets go dance, Trevor." She took his glass and sat it on the table. Dragging him gracefully onto the dance floor, she grabbed his shoulder. He scooted closer to her and wrapped his arm around her waist. His breath smelled nice.

"Whenever your ready, my beautiful Rose." Blushing again, Rose closed her eyes and found the beat. She took a step, then another. Trevor followed her every move. Together, they looked like angels dancing on a cloud.

Stephy looked out onto the dance floor and quickly spotted two others dancing gracefully. Looking closer she saw that it was Rose. Once Rose was looking in her direction, Stephy gave her a small wave.

"She's so boring when she and Trevor are together... No offense Rose!" Skie called across the floor to her friend. Placing the other firewhiskeys that she had been holding on the table, she grabbed the one that she deemed hers and took a small sip. Wincing as the liquid burned its way down her throat, Skie decided that it would be her last for the night, or there would be some pain in the form of a hangover tomorrow.

Rose felt a drop of sweat trickle down her cheek. "Trevor, lets take a break." He nodded, and Rose walked over to her friends. "Hey", she said to Skie and Stephy. She picked up her glass of firewhiskey and took a swig.

"I have to do practically everyone in the whole world..." she let out a sigh and sat with her hands folded in her lap, the epitome of a disappointed child. "But at least I get to go shopping!" Skie sat up quickly, losing her sad face and replacing it with a mischievious gleam in her eye, and a very evil smile on her lips. "Have you?
