masquerade ball

I pm'd elfie and asked and she said it was fine as it will get people into the spirit for the big masquerade event later on.

so here we are, a masquerade ball


::the great hall was decorated with a spectacular array of lights and tinsel as it awaited the arrival of the students in masks::

::She walked into the hall, mask on her face, wondering whether anyone would recognise her::

::Elana stepped shyly into the Great Hall, fingers adjusting her shiny white sequined mask to make sure that no one would see who she was. The mask had almond shapped holes for her eyes and stopped at the tip of her nose and curved from there along her cheeks.::

::She smiled, green eyes shining as she looked at the beautiful decorations. Elana looked for a place to wait for someone to talk to, wondering if anyone would know that it was her behind the mask.::

(I hope I did this correctly....My first time doing an rpg like this. :D )

~With a slow yet cocky stride, he enters the masqurade ball. His grayish-blue eyes narrow beneath his black mask. His hands; covered with white gloves, reach up and straighten his black top hat that is covering most of his soft, blond hair. He slowly turns to look around as his long black cloak that hangs loosly on his shoulders; flows behind him following his subtle movement~He pulls out a single red rose and twirls it between his white gloved fingers boredly as he waits for a perfect opportunity to make his presence known.~

::Elana walked over to an empty chair. Her hands began smoothing creases in her floor length royal blue dress as someone entered the nearly empty hall. She couldn't tell who he was behind his mask, but the way he walked was familiar and she knew she had seen him somewhere before.::

::Her emerald eyes followed him, wondering who he was. As she looked, she thought she saw a fellow Ravenclaw. Could it be? she thought, as she stopped following the boy with her eyes and focused on the girl instead. Kitkat?::

::Boredly, she entered the Hall. Glancing quickly around, she could tell that this was sure to be quite boring. Her red hair was done up and put into tight curls, and behind her yellow and black mask her brown eyes sparkled-but appeared annoyed. It was at the urging of her friends she had come to this Ball.::

"And they'd better have the decency to show up..."::She whispered, smoothing out the poofy skirt of her long yellow strapless dress::

::She entered the Hall, looking around at allt he masked people. She fixed her mask and her strapless white dress. (Lol, you know that look from Cinderella Story with Hilary Duff? something like that.)::

( Not that much description)

::She glided over to Ginny( or whoever you are) with a strapless yellow dress and smiled at her," Hey, you look..absolutely bored."::

~Backing into the shadows as people arrive, he watches the new arrivals. Already, he is observing them for now a slight smirk crosses his tightly closed mouth.~

::It's probably not her, she thought, and resumed her search through the Hall for someone she knew.::

::Not seeing anyone then, Elana hummed to herself, smiling. She had never been to something like this and was excited to see what would happen by the end of the night. She played with the curls falling over her shoulder, watching and waiting.::

::Annie, feeling more and more like Analia in her floor-length maroon dress with long, transparent-black sleeves, slips her half-faced black mask onto her face before entering the Great Hall. Her eyes shift around, looking for anyone she recognizes. Recognizing no one, she makes her final adjustments to her temporarily dyed blonde hair that is pinned up with curls.::

::She walks deeper into the Hall, looking downward in fear that someone might recognize her easily distinguishable eye color.::

(gah, I hope thats not too terrible. This is new to me.)

Pride walked down the steps with a smile on his face for using a spell he was taught by his cousin to change his hair color he looked around for Analia to see if she would recognize him.

::Elana sighed. She had been at the ball for a while now, and she had seen no one she knew. Or, she didn't think she had.::

::She got up, deciding to wander until she bumped into someone. Literally or figuratively, she didn't know or care. Elana had on heels, something she wasn't used too, and being prone to tripping on anything, not to mention her floor length dress, she could easily find something to blame.::

::She began to walk, sticking to the walls.::

ooc: So yeah this kinda died. bring it back to life people

OC: Yeah, it did. Anyone have any ideas of how to make it interesting and fun/ny?

:Anastasia poked her head out from behind the door of the Great Hall. She took a deep breaht and entered the hall, looking around in awe. Her dress was a spaghetti strap periwinkle blue which went along well with her brown hair.:

"I'll just sit here." she muttered to herself, taking a seat. :she looked around, she was not going to have a good time here. She could feel it, if only she had brought a handsome date from Slytherin. So, sipping her punch she watched everyone else dance around the hall:

OC: Ok, didn't know what else to do. This should (hopefully) help to break the silence in here.

::Elana, not paying much attention to where she was walking, suddenly tripped on her long dress.::

::Shouldn't have worn these heels! Or this dress! she thought, reaching for the back of a chair to stop her fall. With her other arm, she reached out towards the wall, hoping that sometihng would stall her fall. That arm brushed something, or someone, she hadn't seen standing in the shadows. Unfortunately, the chair was just out of her reach, and she fell down to the floor, hand that was reaching to the wall under her, curls over her face, mask halfway off along with one of those dreadful shoes.::

::Great, just great, she thought, grimacing. She knew something was going to happen, but she hadn't expected it to happen at the beginning of the dance.::

::She looked up to see who's chair she had attempted to grab on to, and saw a girl she didn't know. Gulping and looking the other way, green eyes wide with fright, towards the wall, she saw the boy, half hidden in the shaddows, she had been following with her eyes before.::

OC: Ok, it was time for us all to meet each other in here. I was getting tired of being all alone. Though, I may have been better off alone with what I've just done. Two Slytherins. Eeks. Hehe.

~The sudden brush of someone touching him and her loud disturbance, caused him to shift the gaze of his blue eyes downward. He turned his head slightly as he saw a girl fall to the floor.~

~He tucked the rose he'd been playing with, away and out of sight, as he took a couple of steps towards the girl on the floor. He looked down at her, raising a brow slightly.~

~He adjusted his black mask as he continued towards her with a cocky stride. He stopped as he was only a few feet from her now.~

"Don't you have a better way of getting attention?" He said in a low, slightly sarcastic tone as a slight smirk formed on his face.His blue eyes glistened beneath his black mask as he waited for her response.~

OC: Finally, some interaction between some of us here at the ball. :D Somebody save me from these horrid Slytherins! Just kidding, love you Jesse.

::Elana flushed, embarrassed. She never did have good timing with these things, though this hadn't really been her fault.::

"Don't you have a better way of getting attention?"

::She looked back up at the boy in the black mask who was smirking slightly. She frowned, and looking back down muttered, "I didn't mean to."::

::Elana glanced over to her feet, and seeing that the hateful shoe was almost off, she wrinkled her nose, grimacing, and tugged it back on, not being ladylike in the least. Still flushed, she got up unsteadily, and settled her mask back onto her face with pale shaking fingers. It had nearly fallen off. Not good, she thought. Not good at all. She kept her head facing the floor as she smoothed out wrinkles in her dress, willing herself not to let the tears threatening to fall win this new battle.::

::She brushed back her dark curls, and summoning up her courage, faced the smirking boy.::

~He never moved from his place, and his actions were slow and subtle. Watching the girl trying to hide her embarassment made him almost chuckle but he forced himself not to make a sound. Instead he took a step closer to her. "One never means to do anything. It's just something that happens." He mocked with an arrogant snort. "Of course judging by your inability to stand in rather classy attire and shoes, it looks as though you could be mistaken for Granger or one of the filthy weasels." He commented coldly.~

::She scowled, and, not knowing what to do, stalked off, arms stiff by her sides, fists clenched.::

::How dare he! she thought furiously. She walked out of the hall. The tears had won the battle. Shaking slightly, she sat down miserably, leaning against a wall right out of the Hall. I only have two choices, she thought. Go back or leave. Go back and be humiliated again, or be a coward. I'm no Gryffindor, but I can't just go back to the Tower. He'll have won, she thought bitterly. Can't have that, now can we? But...I can't face going back now. In a little while.::

::And so she sat, head in arms folded across her knees, whole body shaking because of the nearly silent sobs that echoed in the deserted corridor.::

OC: Jesse, how could you make a fragile little second year girl cry like that! Shame, shame, shame. *wags a finger*

::Annie purposely ignored the feud going on just a few feet away and walked over to a table near the wall. She took one of the chair and propped it against the wall and sat down, putting her feet up on the table. She readjusted her dress so no one could see under it, but let her boots peak out.::

~He chuckled slightly as he watched the girl jump up and run out in humiliation.~

~He then backed up against the wall, leaning against it arrogantly as he watched the doors.~

::She noticed that someone was standing relatively close to her spot against the wall. She saw a little bit of blonde hair beneath the boy's hat and immediately recognized it as Jesse.:

:She placed her feet on the ground and tipped her chair slightly, getting close enough to reach him. Her slender finger could barely extend that far, but she managed to poke his stomach and land back on all four legs of the chair.::

:As Anastasia walked up to the refreshment counter for something to drink, she glanced over her shoulder to see a girl poke someone standing in the midst of the shadows:

Obviously avoiding the party she thought.

:The person seemed to be staring behind her at the Great Hall doors, as if expecting someone to walk through. She sighed, running her hands through her hair and looked at the number of refreshments. Her eyes caught on a bottle of firewhiskey and she smirked.

"What's this?" she asked herself as she picked it up. "Firewhiskey, huh? Might as well..."

Taking the bottle and a cup she snuck over towards the entrance, near the doors and sat away from the crowd. Luckily, for her nobody was watching so she wouldn't get caught in the act. So she slipped off her heels, putting them under the table and tucked her right foot underneath her as the other leg swung in circles.

Glad I wore a long dress she thought, grabbing the bottle of firewhiskey and puring herself a cup before sliding it on the floor behind her chair.

OC: Yes, I know..bad. lol, but i was bored, so i became a bit creative. lol :D

:Jilly took a deep breath as she stood in the corridor, waiting for the right moment to enter. She looked at herself. It was a masquerade ball and she was wearing a slimming rose pink dress with a white mask encrusted with gold trimming that only showed her nose and lips. Her brown hair was in loose ringlets that flowed to the middle of her back where white wings were attached. She had no clue what she was supposed to be, but at least it was something.:

"Okay, this is it." she muttered to herself. "Just don't trip. Do not trip." Jilly was known as a klutz around school and she had to agree. Taking another a deep breath she entered the hall and stopped at the entrance. It was breathtaking! Whoever done the decorations out did themselves for the hall looked absolutley amazing!

Jilly smiled to herself as she admired the place. This ball was going to be fun, or least she hoped so. Hopefully her friends would come and join her soon.

::Elana was puzzled. She usually hid her emotions very well, why, of all times to cry, was she crying now? She guessed that it was because of everything she had kept inside of her since she came to Hogwarts. From not knowing anyone to missing her family, she hadn't let anything out and had become more and more focused on her classes. Good grades were the only things that had gone well for her, really, since the start of school.::

::She wiped her eyes, reaching under her mask. The tears had stopped. Elana looked at her hands and saw brown smudges of eyeliner on them. Sighing, she muttered a clensing charm and felt the little make-up she had used leave her skin.::

::Guess I'd better go, she thought, not knowing how much time had passed. I just hope I won't see him again. She grimaced. He didn't know what she had been through. He had no idea what had happened to her since coming. He had no excuse to be picking on a girl besides for his own amusement.::

::Ginny walked outside after a girl a very rude boy had chased out of the Great Hall. She turned a corner and saw her, just sort of there....::

"Are you all right?" ::she asked concernedly.::

"Are you going to go back to the Ball?"

Are you alright? Are you going back to the ball?

::Elana jumped slightly and looked up. Through the holes in her mask she saw a pretty girl a few years older than her. Touched that she had come out, Elana replied, "Thanks for asking, I'm better now. Yeah, I guess I'm going back."::

::She smiled up at the girl. "Well, this isn't the best way to meet someone," she said, shakily getting to her feet. "I'm Elana," she said, holding out her hand, while with the other she began smoothing her dress.::

::She smiled and shook her hand::

"It's all right, you shouldn't let the boys get you down-they haven't quite grown out of the "Git wad" gene, if you know what I mean. In fact, wanna chill with me? Any guys come near them I'll show them whats what." ::the red head lifted up the hem of her dress to reveal point high heeled shoes.:: "If you catch my drift." ::she smiled.::

::Elana smiled, giggling. "Thanks, I like the way you think," she added, grinning. "It was just the last straw, his teasing."::

::The red head giggled (YES GIGGLED)::

"Well, let's make our grand re-entrance then." ::her brown eyes sparkled as she gestured to the door.::

~Slowly, he shifted his gaze towards the door to see the two girls walk in and he smirked~
~He tilted his head back against the wall as he watched them~

::Annie sits there pouting, disappointedly because her poke got no attention.:

:She glanced around the room and found no other amusement::

::Elana's hands fidgeted (sp?) in front of her as she entered the Hall. She tried to put a normal look on her face, a small smile perhaps, but her mouth stayed in a firm line.::

::She looked around the Hall for the boy in the black mask, hoping that nothing else horrid would happen that night.::

::Ginny looked back at the boy she recognized as the one who had bothered the girl she had just met. She held his gaze for a second, and then smirked and looked away, deciding the smile at a Gryffindor boy who randomly ran by.::

"Just don't look at him too much, he won't bother you, and if he does, well you know what'll happen." ::she chuckled.::

::Elana grinned and looked instead to the girl, instantly feeling much better. "Those shoes looked pretty nice though, I don't think you'd want to ruin them by hitting someone like that with them."::

::She wondered who the girl was, and cursing herself, realized that she had told her her name. Oops. Not supposed to do that....Oh well.::

::Ginny looked down at her shoes and shrugged.::

"Ah, well, scourgify does wonders now doesn't it?" ::she giggled slightly.::

~He chuckled as he pushed off from the wall and reached up adjusting his mask. Then slowly he strode towards the two girls.~

"True," Elana said. "So, what do you want to do?"

::She looked around the Hall, not for the boy, but just to see what was happening. Mostly, the masked students were talking to each other, sitting or standing.::

"Not much dancing going on. Strange, I thought this was a Masquerade Ball."

::Ginny's smiled::

"Oh well, I suppose you could grab a random guy and start twirling around with him." ::she laughed, turning around in demonstration. When she stopped she was surprised to see the boy walking towards them.

Oh great, what does he want? ::she thought angrily::

::Elana laughed at that, thinking of how she would never do such a thing.::

::She soon stiffened, seeing the boy in the black mask coming towards her and the older girl.::

:: NO! she thought angrily. Why doesn't he just leave us alone! She grimaced as he drew nearer.::

"Well well well...I see you've returned." He said staring at Elana~

"I almost didn't recognize you without you being on the floor." He chuckled.

"Fancy finding yourself in the same position?" ::Ginny snapped, stepping forward, her eyes flashing dangerously. She did not want this evening ruined by a git such as himself.::

"So, please, go find a nice toilet to drink out of and leave us alone."

(Hehe Jesse my twinny you know I love ya :D)

~He looked to the girl who'd dared stepped forward to him. "Fancy a mint?" he sneered at her. "Perhaps where you come from foul breath is attractive but from where I come from a mint seems to be a more acceptable solution."

~Then he smirked and slowly looked to Elana.~
"And as for you..." he said reaching into his cloak and pulling out the rose he'd been twirling earlier. He reached down, grabbed her hand and placed the flower in it.~
"Have a good time at the party." He mumbled.

~Then he turned on his heel and strolled off to the refreshments table.~

::She stared in shock at the rose in her hand, wondering what had gotten into the boy.::

::Strange, she thought. Very strange...::

::She closed her fingers around the rose, and lifted it to her nose. Have to make time to stop the roses, eh?::

::Ginny's eyes widened at his remarks, and she was about to head after him and dump peach juice on his head but stopped. She noticed how Elana was smelling the rose. Her eyes widened even more.::

"Hm, interesting..." ::she whispered, looking back at the boy who walked away::

::"Any idea what just happened?" Elana said, watching the boy at the refreshment table. She twirled the rose between her fingers, thinking.::

::"I feel like dancing," she said happily, suddenly in a fantastic mood.::

"No clue..." ::she muttered with a shrug.::

"If you wanna dance you could just...grab a random guy. That typically works." ::Ginny laughed, running a hand through her red hair.::

~He picked up a cup of pumpkin juice and took a sip then he looked back at the two girls and smiled slightly at them.~
~Then he sighed and looked around slowly~

::She rolled her brown eyes at him and turned back to Elana.::

"You could always...maybe ask him to dance." ::she jerked her head subtly in the direction of the refreshment tables.:: "If you're willing to forgive so easily..."

::Shocked and wide-eyed, Elana turned to the girl.:: "Him?! Well, I may forgive easily, but not that easily." ::She went back to twirling the rose and looking around the Hall for someone who might want to dance.::

(I think that I may finally be getting the hang of rp style. I must say that it's easier in the rpg chat, though.)
