Holly's Fourteenth Birthday

First topic message reminder :

Holly glanced once again in her portable mirror, unconvinced.
"You look fine," Riley said, "Seriously. Can I eat cake now?"
"Not yet doll," Holly said grinning, and examined the landscape, "People will be arriving soon.....THEN you can eat cake,"
She laughed.

"It's great!" she exclaimed smiling

"Just think...when you get a house...you won't even need doors....though that would be well weird," said Natalie, grinning.

Holly raised her eyebrows at the conversation and grinned.

"Well, it's true," said Natalie, grinning back.

Shadow and Raven exchanged questioning glances, but said nothing.

Phoenix smiled, she was glad for everything to be back to normal, but it would never be the same. "I can annoy people and they can't do anything about it" she laughed

Holly grinned at the two, and then began to dance to "Famous Last words" by MCR.

Phoenix looked at Holly and said "I'll gunna dance too!" she exclaimed heading for the dance floor.

Raven and Shadow glanced at each other before shrugging, also moving onto the dance floor.

Holly laughed at the sudden run for the dancefloor. At her last school it had been fellas to one side and women on the other, with Holly in the middle, dancing like there was no tomorrow.

Phoenix grinned at Holly and starting dancing, Phoenix tryed singing

Holly admired Phoenix's strong voice.

Phoenix stopped when she knew she was singing and turned bright red.

"Continue!" Holly urged, "You're really good kid!"
She was ignoring the fact that Phoenix was older than her.

Phoenix smiled "Thanks Holly" she said "Hey later i need to talk about a certain spell that Aura has been reading" she whispered

"Talk with ME?" Holly asked in a whisper.

Phoenix nodded and then looked around to see if anyone was listening "Aura finally convinced me to have that spell done, you know that what that will make me walkin' talkin' solid phoenix not just walkin' through walls phoenix" she whispered back

Holly's eyes widened.
"Seriously?" she asked, "Thats great!"
She had forgotten to keep her voice down and had recieved many looks from other party-goers, but she pulled Phoenix into a corner and said, "You're going to go through with it?"

Phoenix smiled and nodded "Yes" she said "At my house"

"Great!" Holly said enthusiastically, "Do you like, want me to be there or.....can I come anyway?"

Phoenix nodded "Of course you can be there, holly!" she said

Holly grinned happily.

"Can I be there too?" Natalie asked.

Shadow stopped dancing and slipped something out from under her cloak. She walked over to Holly and put a delicate chain around her neck, sadness deep in her eyes. Hanging on the chain was a small pendant of a wolf and a raven.
"You'll always be able to find me if you need me." She said softly. She looked at Raven, who nodded. They walked off, gradually fading from sight as they did until they had vanished.

Hayley stared as they left, worried about her friends.

Holly stared at the delicate chain with wide eyes.
Her eyes raked the scene where just moments before had stood Shadow. Her Shadow. Her friend.
"When I need her....," Holly repeated in a somewhat dreamy voice, "She thinks of everythin' Dun' she?" she added to Hayley.

"And if I need her...I have the mind connection with her...of course....it all fits," said Natalie, eyes full of sadness.

"And hopefully Holly will let me use the chain with her too," Hayley added with a hopeful, joking, and sad look in her eyes.

"Aye," Holly said nodding, "Aye I will,"

Hayley smiled sadly. "I'll miss her. And Raven. And Shaemen- we hardly knew ye," she said, with half a smile.

Holly shrugged.
"Aye," she agreed, "I knew Shadow well enough....or I thought I did....,"

"I thought I did too...I didn't think Shadow would do anything that she wasn't happy with...but...now I think about it...she's gone to protect others as she protected us...and I respect that," said Natalie, as she picked up a bottle of butterbeer, "shall we toast to Shadow?"

Holly grabbed a firewhiskey, clinked with Natalie and downed it.

Natalie took a deep swig of butterbeer.

Holly took another firewhiskey but before she could drink it Riley grabbed her arm.
"No more," he said firmly, but Holly shrugged him off and drank it anyway.

"Riley's right Holly....this won't make things better," said Natalie calmly, but firmly, to Holly.

Holly almost shrugged, but decided to pretend she hadnt heard.

Natalie looked at Holly.

"Look...put the bottle down...or I swear I will hex it out of your hand," said Natalie, again firmly.

Hayley shrugged, and downed a glass of firewhiskey also- it burned her throat on the way down, and didn't ease any pain- but it made her feel better.

Natalie looked around her again.

"She was hear...only like...a few minutes ago...and yet I miss her so much," she said in sad tones.

Hayley nodded, her eyes heavy- it was getting late, yet she had no desire to sleep. "Me too," she said.

Natalie looked at Hayley.

"You look really pale Hayls," said Natalie, "you should try and get some sleep."

"Sleep kid," Holly said in mid drink, "Sleep,"

"You sleep too," Natalie said to Holly, "you look a little worse for wears too...no offense."

Hayley nodded, then shook her head, "I don't feel like it," she said, acting a tad bratty.

"Brat," Holly muttered, downing some more firewhiskey.

Chucky, Tiffany and Glen had fallen asleep in a little pile of gift wrap.

Chucky was hugging Tiffany close and Tiffany was doing the same to Glen. It looked very sweet really, even when Tiffany started to snore quietly. It was a very cute little snore, and Natalie could have sworn she saw a grin edge it's way over Chucky's face.

Hayley cocked her head to one side as she looked at the dolls. It was rather sweet.

Natalie looked at them too, with tears in her eyes.

"Just one cute little pint sized family," she said to herself more than anyone else.

Holly looked at them with a slightly wrinkled nose. They were quite cute when you REALLY thought about it. Holly didnt REALLY think about much.
