The Escape

Shadow ran across the Hogwarts grounds to where Merlas was waiting for her patiently, two smaller figures following her as closely as they could. The pegasus nickered gently as she approached and shook her mane. Shadow lifted the two figures onto the horse's back, and the moonlight showed two five-year-old girls. Shadow gathered up the reins, passing them to the child in front, but keeping one hand on Merlas' bridle.
"Remember what I taught you about riding and flying. Merlas will keep you safe."
"But why do we have to go?" One girl said. She had black hair and one white streak at the front, with fearful violet eyes, clinging onto her sister's waist as she sat behind her.
"It's not safe for you here Onyx." Shadow replied soothingly.
"Why not?" Asked Onyx's sister, who had deep violet hair and three white streaks. She seemed to be irritated at having to leave.
"Peace Archangel, if what the messenger said is true, my father, the big demon, is back and it isn't safe for you here. ON top of that, you have demon haters here. I want to keep you safe. Do you understand?" Shadow said.
"But..." Archangel started to say.
"Do you understand?"
"Yes mother..."

Holly came out from behind a nearby statue, looking confused.
"Mother?" she repeated, the question directed to Shadow.

Shadow whipped round, her magic at the ready, but relaxed as she saw Holly. She bowed her head, her violet hair falling over her eyes.
"Yes..."

"Like.....mum?" Holly said incredulously, "Mom? Mam? Dude.....whos the dad?"

"Some one you don't know." Shadow said, playing with Merlas' mane. Onyx and Archangel looked at Holly and then at Shadow.
"Mother, who's that?" Archangel asked.
"Holly, one of my best friends."

Holly grinned at the way she had been described but quickly took on a serious look again.
"Hey," she said to Archangel, "Im Holly. What's your name kid?"

Archangel folded her arms and said nothing. Shadow sighed.
"Her name's Archangel. The other is Onyx." She said.

Violet walked outside, planning on going to Hagrids. She had been taking time to help him with the animals. On her way there, she saw Shadow, two small people, and Holly. "What the world." She said, walking towards them. "Hey....whats going on?" She asked.

Shadow turned to see Violet and groaned.

"Oh, I'm just wondering whats going on. I'm going to Hagrids." She said, pointing behind her.

"We're having a party," Holly invented impatiently, "And nice to meet you two..."

Shadow shifted from foot to foot awkwardly.

"Hello?" Violet asked. "Are you ok?" She asked, and looked at the other two. "Aww, whose are they?" She asked.

Holly glanced around for a change of subject and then said awkwardly. "Nice night huh?"

"They're mine..." Shadow said quietly.

"Aww." Violet said. "They are cute Shadow." Violet said.

Holly avoided looking at Shadow and Violet, by looking at th towery shadow that the tower cast on the ground.

Shadow looked at her daughters and let go of Merlas' bridle, intending to send them away.

"Where're they goin?" Holly asked, unable to avoid they any longer.

"Umm, well I have to go." She said, loking at her watch. "Hagrid! Dont feed those Hoggers with out me!" She screamingm running towards the hut.

"I'm sending them to my dimension." Shadow said.

Holly watched Violet leave, quite scared and then looked back at Shadow.
"To your dimension?" she repeated, "Aint that dangerous? Wont they be safer here with you? If y'cant cope or something tell Nat, shes good with kids!"

"To Synairn, it's too dangerous here." Shadow said, biting her lip.
"We don't want to go!" Onyx said quickly until Shadow silenced her with a glare.

Holly glanced at Onyx and looked at Shadow.
"Why's it dangerous here? Are they....y'know....demons?"

Shadow nodded.
"Any of my descendents will always be at least part demon. These two are half, like me."

Holly nodded.
"Aintcha gonna be like.... sad that they are leaving?"
The second it was out of her mouth Holly regretted saying it. They were her children, of course she was sad.

Shadow nodded sadly.
"I can't see another solution, no matter how many times I read the stars."

Holly bit her lip trying to think of something.
"What about your siblings?" she asked, "Cant Raven or Shaeman or Caleb take 'em?"

Shadow shook her head again.
"They're safer with Arias."

"Mm...." Holly said looking from one child to the other, "Merlas can handle the journey?"

Shadow nodded.
"She's my horse. I raised her from a newborn foal. She's capable."

Holly nodded.
"You're good with horses," she said absently.

"I train the battle herd." Shadow replied.

"Wow, big job," Holly said softly, wondering if she should leave to give Shadow a moment alone with her kids.

Shadow shrugged, putting a hand on Merlas' shoulder.
"I don't want to send them away, but I can't think of a better solution.

"Mm," Holly agreed nodding, "I know y'dont. They dont seem to wanna go either....but we all gotta do stuff we dont want to. For the best...."

Shadow nodded before her eyes widened and she screamed, falling to the ground with her head in her hands.

Phoenix was walking about when she saw Shadow, Violet and Holly. As she came to approach them she notice two smaller figures "Hello" she said.

Holly swore and knelt down next to Shadow, wand pointed out automatically, worrying.
"What? What? Did you see something?"

"Get... Out... Of... My... Head!" Shadow moaned, her eyes tightly shut in pain as she curled into a tight ball, clutching her head.

Phoenix went over to her "Shad?" she asked "Are you ok?"

Holly lowered her wand and looked concerned at Shadow after sending the probably scared children a reassuring smile.
"Shad....can y'hear me? Whos in your head doll?"

"It's him, it's Kar!" Shadow cried out, trying to block her mind, but the presence was too strong. It was ripping her mind appart.

Phoenix sat beside Shadow thinking, who is kar?

"He's in my head, he's coming to find us..." Shadow said before going into a shock-like state.

Violet walked back from Hagrid's hut, carrying a bag. "Hey guys....what in the world happen?" She asked, running to Shadow.

Phoenix began to panic, "Block him, Shad" she said "Someone call Kar"

"Kar's coming!" Archangel said, panicking, clinging to Merlas' mane.

Violet eye's widen. "No....he cant!" She said, dropping the bag of birdfeed. "He cant...we killed him." She said.

Phoenix turned to Violet"Who's Kar?" she asked
