The Escape

Shadow ran across the Hogwarts grounds to where Merlas was waiting for her patiently, two smaller figures following her as closely as they could. The pegasus nickered gently as she approached and shook her mane. Shadow lifted the two figures onto the horse's back, and the moonlight showed two five-year-old girls. Shadow gathered up the reins, passing them to the child in front, but keeping one hand on Merlas' bridle.
"Remember what I taught you about riding and flying. Merlas will keep you safe."
"But why do we have to go?" One girl said. She had black hair and one white streak at the front, with fearful violet eyes, clinging onto her sister's waist as she sat behind her.
"It's not safe for you here Onyx." Shadow replied soothingly.
"Why not?" Asked Onyx's sister, who had deep violet hair and three white streaks. She seemed to be irritated at having to leave.
"Peace Archangel, if what the messenger said is true, my father, the big demon, is back and it isn't safe for you here. ON top of that, you have demon haters here. I want to keep you safe. Do you understand?" Shadow said.
"But..." Archangel started to say.
"Do you understand?"
"Yes mother..."

Phoenix stood next to violet, glaring at Kar she aimed her wand at him. "Leave" she sneered

"THANK YOU!" Holly said stepping gratefully out and giving Phoenix a hug, "Y'took your time doll,"
She turned to Kar.
"Look just go....she aint gonna let you....do whatever it is that you came here to do, and the four- no the SIX of us are more powerful than you, y'dont stand a chance!"

"I care not. I care only for finishing what has been started." Kar said. "You know what it means, so stand aside."

Holly looked at Violet, hoping she understood more than Holly did.

Violet shook her head. "What did I tell you last time Kar? Never." She said.

"Your not coming near Shadow" hissed Phoenix

"Yeah. So smoke that pipe demon," Holly said flourishing her wand.

"You don't have a choice." Kar said, striding forwards and grabbing Shadow by the neck. Shadow tried to kick out, but she was struggling to draw breath.

Violet ran foeward, jumping on his back. "Move!" She sauid

Holly stepped backwards automatically stepping on Phoenix's foot.
"Wow," she said, "Deja' Vu,"

Phoenix said to Holly "Holly what about them kids?" she asked

Kar dropped Shadow as Violet lunged at him, but he swung round, hitting out at Violet.

"Oh, right," Holly said dodging back to stand awkwardly in front of Merlas and the children.
"Um....I dunno if we should like, send em on," she said to Phoenix, "Okay have a vote. Shad? Shall we like, send em' on to your-"
She glanced at Kar.
"D-I-M-E-N-S-I-O-N?"

Violet fell dow and kicked her leg out. "I hate you!" She screamed, jumping back up.

Shadow scrambled back to her feet.
"Merlas! Go somewhere safe!" She shouted to her horse, who snorted and took flight, soaring up over the trees.

"See, why didnt we think to do that?" Holly said to Phoenix shaking her head at the horse, "Fly horse, FLY!"

Violet looked at the others and then at Shadow. "I hope you have a plan." She said.

Shadow shook her head, ducking as a bolt of magic nearly hit her;

"Yeah," Holly said to Phoenix, "Oh, y'mean Shadow? Oh do you?"

Violet looked at Kar. "What are you even doing back?" She asked, glaring

"YEAH!" Holly said, ganging up on the demon, "SMOKE THAT PIPE!"

"Coming to finish what I started." Kar snarled, grabbing Shadow again, drawing a dagger and putting it to her neck before she knew what was going on.

Holly screamed and clamped a hand over her mouth before falling backwards in shock.

"Kar...dont do that." Violet said, grabbing her neck. "I remember what you done. Just....stop." Violet said, walking forward

"Is this the dang prophecy again?" Holly asked menacingly.

Shadow had frozen in fear and shock, but tried to get a grip on her mind and think up a solution to get out of the headlock. She found one solution. She bit his arm. The demon roared and loosened his hold, Shadow ducking out of the way, but the dagger had been too close, and she felt it cut through the thin flesh as she fell.

"Shadow." Violet said, going forward. Violet grabbed Shadow, holding her.

Holly yelped like a dog and rushed forward a little wary of the demon, but needing to find out if Shadow was alright.
"Yo, kid, you hear me?"
She looked over at Kar and wanted her eyes to become daggers and her glare to become flying swords.

Shadow coughed up blood, but managed to breath, starting to heal herself.

"Kar, cant you leave her alone. Think about what your doing." She said, looking at him. She never could believe Shaeman was his son. Shaking her head, she looked back at Shadow.

Holly winced at the blood but stared at Shadow's violet eyes.
"Concentrate on healin' youself," she muttered nodding, "Just keep focused...."

Shadow sat up slowly, the gash reduced to a thin scar. She put a hand to her head, silently groaning.

Holly sighed a little bit happy, but also very afraid.
"Violet can you apparate?" she asked desperately, "We gotta get outta here."

Violet looked at her. "Here...someone needs to heal you." She said, sitting up.

Shadow looked towards the rapidly approaching demon and grabbed the trio, dragging them away.

Holly let herself be dragged away quickly.

"Let me go Shadow." Violet said.

"Sh'up Vi we need to leave!" Holly said exasperatedly.

"No..I'm killing him." She said, g;aring.

We need to get out of here NOW! Shadow said, broadcasting her thoughts so that They could hear her.

'Fine.' Violet thought back

"I said that," Holly said to Violet, "Shadow's right, look we can all kill him later, but for now MOVE! Can you like apparate or something?"

"Hold on tight." Violet said, sighing.,

Shadow prepared herself for the unpleasentness of apparation.

Violet dissapprated into Hogwarts, losing balance and falling over

Shadow fell to the ground as well, groaning silently.

"I'm sorry," Violet said, standing up to help Shadow.

Thanks Shadow thought to her.

"Welcome." She mumbled, sitting Shadow up against the wall. "Here." She said, pulling her wand out. "I need to make some potions."

Shadow nodded and touched the scar on her throat.
It went too deep. She thought, allowing her thoughts to echo around the corridors.
