The Escape

Shadow ran across the Hogwarts grounds to where Merlas was waiting for her patiently, two smaller figures following her as closely as they could. The pegasus nickered gently as she approached and shook her mane. Shadow lifted the two figures onto the horse's back, and the moonlight showed two five-year-old girls. Shadow gathered up the reins, passing them to the child in front, but keeping one hand on Merlas' bridle.
"Remember what I taught you about riding and flying. Merlas will keep you safe."
"But why do we have to go?" One girl said. She had black hair and one white streak at the front, with fearful violet eyes, clinging onto her sister's waist as she sat behind her.
"It's not safe for you here Onyx." Shadow replied soothingly.
"Why not?" Asked Onyx's sister, who had deep violet hair and three white streaks. She seemed to be irritated at having to leave.
"Peace Archangel, if what the messenger said is true, my father, the big demon, is back and it isn't safe for you here. ON top of that, you have demon haters here. I want to keep you safe. Do you understand?" Shadow said.
"But..." Archangel started to say.
"Do you understand?"
"Yes mother..."

Holly closed one eye, looking at Shadow smiling.

Shadow raised an eyebrow before rolling her eyes, sighing silently.

Holly stuck her tongue out at Shadow.

Shadow shook her head, looking down at the ground.

Holly lay down on the now fine great hall floor, feeling ill.
"Whats the prophecy say again?" Holly asked, forgetting Shadow could not speak properly.

Shadow pointed to her throat, and them to her mouth before shrugging.

"Ooooh yeah," Holly said smacking her forhead, making her forhead sore, "Ow!"

Shadow touched the jagged scar over her throat and closed her eyes.

Holly twisted her head to the side to watch Shadow for a moment and then looked back at the ceiling.
"S'hard for you......," she said non helpfully, "Must be....I used to think I was hard done by...."

Shadow clicked her fingers to attract Holly's attention and gestured with her hands to say: "I will never speak again."

"What? Never?" Holly sat up, rubbing her head, "Well....dont say that I mean.....you might still .... Madam Pomfrey is good at that kinda ...."
But she stopped, knowing that Shadow was right.
"I think we should stay here longer," she said after a moment, "In case people ask questions...."

Shadow shook her head and pointed to the door.

"Huh?" Holly asked, then remembered Shadow couldnt talk, "Oh. You want to leave?"
She stood up shakily.
"If you're sure...." she said, and opened the door.

Shadow nodded, smiling slightly.

Holly held the door open and bowed Shadow out before her.
