The Escape

Shadow ran across the Hogwarts grounds to where Merlas was waiting for her patiently, two smaller figures following her as closely as they could. The pegasus nickered gently as she approached and shook her mane. Shadow lifted the two figures onto the horse's back, and the moonlight showed two five-year-old girls. Shadow gathered up the reins, passing them to the child in front, but keeping one hand on Merlas' bridle.
"Remember what I taught you about riding and flying. Merlas will keep you safe."
"But why do we have to go?" One girl said. She had black hair and one white streak at the front, with fearful violet eyes, clinging onto her sister's waist as she sat behind her.
"It's not safe for you here Onyx." Shadow replied soothingly.
"Why not?" Asked Onyx's sister, who had deep violet hair and three white streaks. She seemed to be irritated at having to leave.
"Peace Archangel, if what the messenger said is true, my father, the big demon, is back and it isn't safe for you here. ON top of that, you have demon haters here. I want to keep you safe. Do you understand?" Shadow said.
"But..." Archangel started to say.
"Do you understand?"
"Yes mother..."

"Ow. We cant, not without Raven." Violet said.

"So thats a yes to the whole "sit and be pretty thing" then?" Holly asked.

Shadow groaned silently, pulling at the band, trying to get it off, but to no avail.

"No, I'm not kissing my way out of this again." Violet mumbled. "Your helping."

"Man" Holly said, "Incendio!"
She looked hopefully at the band.

SHadow had ducked out of the way of the fire.
Don't EVER do that again. Try a levitation charm or something!

Holly rolled her eyes.
"This wouldnt be so difficult if you werent so moody with me," she said, "Wingardium Leviosa,"

Shadow felt the band lift and sighed with relief, rubbing the black burn marks where it had been.

"Stop it. It wont work." Violet said, looking bored

"You're welcome," Holly said airily, and checked to make sure Shadow was alright, "You were saying Violet?"

Shadow healed the burns easily, even though it left a faint scar. She looked at Holly and smiled in thanks.

"Maybe it did. I thought Kar was smarter then that." She said,

Holly grinned back at her.
"Thought wrong then kiddo," she said, "Now lets get outta here you nerds."

Shadow shrugged before nodding, looking around.
Where?

"Cant." Violet said. "Not without a plan. I say someone distract...I may have to do that....and someone as to aim from the back." Violet said. "Holly, can you block you mind?" She asked.

Holly looked around too.
"Oh," she said, "I dunno.....oh, a door!"
Holly walkd towards it hand outstretched, but the moment it touched the crystal door handle she jumped back as if electrocuted.
There was a sound like a kettle and the doorhinge, and crystal door shattered into millions of pieces.
Holly fell to the floor, arms shielding her head.

Shadow frowned in confusion, unsure of what had happened.

"What the hell did you do?" Violet asked, jumping away.

"I dunno!" Holly stood up, shaking looking beyond the dust the shattering had left, "Everyone alright?" she called, but stepped closer and closer to the door.

Shadow followed, curious.

"Yes," She said, shaking her head.

Holly lit her wand and moved cautiously forward. The aura of menace at this part was unbelievable.
"What part of Hogwarts did you say this was?" Holly whispered.

"I never did." Violet said, all the worry fading from her body.

Shadow shaped an orb of white magic to help light the passage.

"Thanks," Holly said to Shadow, and led the way down the darkened corridor, "Never been 'ere before...."

Violet followed behind, taking a deep breath. "I'm bored."

Shadow shrugged, frowning in concentration.

"Is anyone elses potion working?" She asked, shaking her head. She heard something and looked behind her.

"Then you have a task- find out how to get back to the entrance hall, or else Gryffindor Tower. Cause its the Christmas holidays theres no one else in my dorm but me...."

Shadow nodded, looking around and jumping at every noise.

Holly edged forward and found herself at the end of the hallway, with a door in front of her.
She glanced around at Shadow.
"Whaddya reckon?"

Shadow shrugged.

Violet stopped and looked up. "Here." She said, jumping up to touch the cieling, it moving a bit. "We are somewhere." She said, jumping more.

"We're somewhere!" Holly said happily, "Thank goodness!"
She scowled. "I mean exactly," she said, and opened the unknown door.

Shadow levitated though the hole, looking around.

Holly followed, wand arm outstretched, the other shaking.
"Violet you still there?" Holly said without looking around.

"Yeah." She said, looking up.

"Good," Holly said, "Just making sure you didnt get lost or something...."

Shadow allowed her eyes to adjust to the bright light, having found themselves in the Great Hall. She looked around in surprise before seeing something wrong. She tried to warn the others, but couldn't speak.

Violet looked around, closing her eyes. "Its to bright." She said.

"Shad? What is it whats wrong?"
She moved forward into the light and squinted around.

Violet walked to the door of the Great Hall, leaning her ear on it.

Shadow made frantic gestures to back down into the hole, but saw that it ad disappeared. She glanced around, terrified.

"Huh?" Holly asked attempting to understand, "What? I dont geddit whatsamada?"

Violet heard something, and backed up. "Someone is behind the door." She mumbled.

Shadow tried to explain through a series of hand gestures, but realised that it wasn't going to work.
It's an illusion! She shouted out mentally.

Holly backed away from the door, holding her wand close to it.
"Whos there?" she yelled, "Show yourself!"

"What Shadow..." Violet said, raising her eyebrows.

It's not real! Look around, it's all wrong! Shadow said mentally, trying desperately to get the others to understand.

"Illusion?" Holly repeated looking confused. She glanced around the great hall, which admittedly, looked a lot different.
"Well who would-....oh no. Kar?"
