The Escape

Shadow ran across the Hogwarts grounds to where Merlas was waiting for her patiently, two smaller figures following her as closely as they could. The pegasus nickered gently as she approached and shook her mane. Shadow lifted the two figures onto the horse's back, and the moonlight showed two five-year-old girls. Shadow gathered up the reins, passing them to the child in front, but keeping one hand on Merlas' bridle.
"Remember what I taught you about riding and flying. Merlas will keep you safe."
"But why do we have to go?" One girl said. She had black hair and one white streak at the front, with fearful violet eyes, clinging onto her sister's waist as she sat behind her.
"It's not safe for you here Onyx." Shadow replied soothingly.
"Why not?" Asked Onyx's sister, who had deep violet hair and three white streaks. She seemed to be irritated at having to leave.
"Peace Archangel, if what the messenger said is true, my father, the big demon, is back and it isn't safe for you here. ON top of that, you have demon haters here. I want to keep you safe. Do you understand?" Shadow said.
"But..." Archangel started to say.
"Do you understand?"
"Yes mother..."

"Shadow.....maybe you've gone mental?" Violet asked. "Its that same place."

Shadow pointed at Holly and nodded. It had Kar's aura all over it.

"Awww man," Holly said worriedly, "Um....well......dont worry. Try not to worry I'll....I'll figure something out Shadow ...."

Shadow made a praying gesture with her hands.

Holly swallowed and looked around the not-so-great hall.
"Kar......if you're 'ere....come out. We aint playin games!"

The illusion vanished, showing the duelling chambers and a smirking Kar.

Violet looked around, shaking her head.

"Oh....hi," Holly had been hoping Kar would keep hidden, "Look, just.....just leave us alone....right?"

"Hello Kar." Violet said, biting her lip.

"Not until business is finished." Kar said coolly.

"Business wont ever be finished," Holly spat, "You're never gettin' Shadow, so just go on back to Syn....a...something!"

"Come on....didnt we say no the first time." Violet said, wlaking towards him.

"Yeah, havent you learned by now?" Holly said copying her.

Kar clapped his hands, sending out a shockwave to knock down everything in its path.

Holly tripepd up and landed flat on her back on the cold hard floor. Gritting her teeth she stood again, rather shakily.

Violet fell down, groaning. Sitting up, she grabbed her head.

Shadow, being already very light, had hit the wall a few metres behind her. She sat up, holding her head.

Holly raised her wand, thinking desperately of a smart spell to throw at Kar.

"Kar, please just leave us alone. I'm beginning to wonder if Shadow, Raven, and Shaeman's mothers where whores. They are nothing like you!" She yelled.

Holly glanced sharply at Violet.
"Are you deliberately trying to make him angry?" she hissed.

Shadow shot a death glare in Violet's direction, before looking up at Kar and bowing her head.

"Yes I am." Violet hissed. "Alot more easier." She said.

Kar smirked, striding towards Shadow, who was kneeling on the ground, not making a move.

Holly rolled her eyes and faced Kar again.
She took a deep breath.
"Loook.....Sir- um...Mr .... Kar. Can we like....make a deal or something?"

Violet stood up, walking over to them. "Kar, get a life." Violet said, glaring. "I'm tired of running, and I'm tired of you." She said, trying to push him away from Shadow.

Hollly ran to Violet and tried to pull her away.
"Dude, be calm about this and we might be able to make a deal!"

Shadow still didn't make a move, not looking at Violet or Holly as Kar closed in on her.

"You cant make a deal with him! The only deal I made with him was to kill Shadow. It didnt work." Violet said, eyes showing a dangerous glint. "Now you step away from me!" She hissed, looking back at him. "Kar dammit. Get away from her." Violet said, running into his back and trying to push him.

After struggling with Violet for a moment, and seeing Shadow so unhappy, Holly let her go, and began to help her push Kar out of the way.

Shadow had in fact been concentrating hard instead of just waiting, and had managed to summon a portal just behind Kar. Looking up, she got to her feet, an evil smile over her face as she helped to push him through.

"Shadow!" Violet yelled, falling back. "I'm right here you know!" She said, trying not to lose balance.

Holly almost died with relief at the sight of the portal, and shoved Kar toward it.

Shadow grabbed VIolet, pulling her out of the way.

"Thank you." Violet said, breathing in relief

Holly grabbed Violets other arm.

Shadow closed the portal once Kar had fallen through and looked away from her friends.

"That was fun," Holly said reasonably, "You alright?"

Shadow looked up at Holly and rubbed her head, tired.

"Shall I apparate us to the hospital wing?" she guessed nervously.

Shadow shook her head, gesturing with her hands to mean that she just needed time.

Holly nodded and looked around before sitting on the floor and hugging her knees. It had been a long night.

Shadow followed Holly's example, curling into a tight ball.

"I feel sick," Holly said grinning weakly.

Shadow looked up and pointed to herself before holding up two fingers.

Holly nodded understanding, and looked around.
"I wonder how Kar managed to do all that nonsense in here....the illusion and what not...."

Shadow smiled knowingly, sitting up.

Holly absently began to hum "Disenchanted" by her favourite band.

Shadow closed her eyes, deep in thought.

Holly cocked her head to the side, watching Shadow, wondering what she was thinking about. But she was sensible enough not to ask.

Shadow opened one eye, looking at Holly.
