OWL Exam Hall (Exams starting with History of Magic)

Natalie Patterson sat at a little desk two rows from the front and watched as the examiner explained the rules.

"On your desk," said the examiner, "you will find you test paper. Do not turn it over until I tell you to begin. There will be not talking, coping or cheating of any kind. Normal quills are to be used. You have one hour for your History Of Magic paper. Any confuring answers and your paper will be given a 'T'...you may begin...now," the examine turn over a large hour glass.

Immediately, Natalie turned over her paper and began to scribble frantically.

Holly sniffed.
"Im so proud," she said, "Having raised you all myself...."
George flicked her on the nose.
"I deserved that," Holly said reasonably.

"Yes...you rather did," said Natalie, flicking Holly on the forehead.
She got on with revising for tomorrow's examinations.

Hayley shook her head at Holly, and got back to reading her book. She conjured herself a cup of tea, and sighed as she read. "Um...who knows what hinkypunks eat?" she asked, looking up.

"Food," Holly said promptly, "Why?"
George sighed and flicked her again.
"Must you?"

Hayley sighed, "Yeah I guessed that. But what type of food?" she asked, flicking through the book, turning the pages quickly.

"They eat a type of moss called 'Hermilon' that is only found in damp or marshy places," sighed Natalie absently, not even looking up from her notes.

"I hate exams," Holly said nonperplexed.
Riley nodded in agreement.
"Me too, remember at Muggle School you stayed in the playground when we were doing all ours?"
"Oh yeah," Holly said grinning as she remembered, "I very nearly got expelled actually....good times."
Riley rolled his eyes.

Natalie looked up from her notes frowned at Holly.
"You really should not have done that Holly," she sighed.
She went back to her notes quietly.
She couldn't wait until tomorrow.
Being the nerd that she was.

"We know...." said Natalie absently, though she did smiled.
She let out a sigh and put away her notes.
"Thats all I need to do for tomorrow done....anyone need any help?" she offered.
She waited for a reply.
She was bored.

"We.Know.We.Are." Holly said, "Why.Are.We.Talking.Like.This.Shadow"
Riley looked similarly confused.
He didnt say anything.
Just then, a huge wasp the size of....three normal wasps glued together, zoomed in through the door and strung Riley and then Holly and then George and then Natalie and then ran away.
"OI!" Holly said standing up, "HOW DID THAT HORSE RUN?"

Natalie looked at Holly.
"That was a Mackro Hornet....the sting shouldn't hurt you human people or monkeys....unless of course you are allergic," said Natalie, rubbing her own sting wound.
"Ok....the signs that you are allergic are irriable behaviour...blood-shot eyes and and swollen tongue...ok..." so do any of you have any of those symptoms?"

Hayley looked pleadingly at Natalie, "Ummm, I could really do with help for Charms," she said, shaking her head at her notes.
Blueberry nodded, "Pwead Natalie?" she said, blinknig furiously.
"Dangit!" Hayley said, slamming her book closed, "I'm going to fail miserably!" she took the vial that Shadow had given her a while previously, and sipped it again, calming herself.

Natalie smiled at Hayley.
"Ok....what charms do you need help with...is it cheering charms....or silencing charms?" Natalie asked, taking out her wand and shining it on her sleeve.
She got up off her chair.
She waited for Hayley to answer.

"Both," Hayley said, "I suck at them bo-"
Suddenly Hayley cried out in pain, and grabbed her left arm with her hand.
"Sheesh," she said, rubbing her arm.
She pulled back her sleeve, and the Dark Mark was shining brightly.
She looked at Natalie, with a worried expression.

"Leave it...just leave it..." she muttered.
She got up and began to show Hayley how to do both charms.
"Is that ok for you?" she asked Hayley when she'd finished showing her what to do.
She grinned.
She was happy with herself.

Holly swollen tongue prevented her from talking.
"I-I-Ah,"
"Holly speak up I cant understand you," Riley said, irritated.
They both rubbed their blood shot eyes.
"I-won-what-goin-on," George said through his swollen tongue, irritable behaviour and bloodshot eyes,
Hm...I wonder.

Natalie sighed and took out of her pocket three beazors.
"Here..." she gave them to Holly and Riley and George, "swallow this...they'll take care of whatever you got..."
She smiled slightly.
"You'll be fine after you take those....trust me," said Natalie, laughing slightly.
She smiled at them all.

Holly took a beazor and instructed for the boys to do the same.
"Swallow these stupid things?" Riley said irritated.
"Sw-it-now," Holly warned, and in unison the three swallowed the beazors.
They were cured!
"YAY!" Riley said and hugged Holly.

Hayley laughed, then she turned to Natalie.
"I'm having real trouble...putting the wand in the right position for the Charms," she said.
"No kidding," Blueberry said, grinning.
Hayley looked at her, "Let's see you try holding a wand in your little paws," she said.
Blueberry coughed, "Right. Yeah," she said.

"Ok....you hold a wand differently for charms than you would for transfiguration...you hold it agains your middle finger with your thumb and support it with your index finger...like this," she reached out and positioned Hayley's hand around her wand, "and hold it a little tighter than that....but not too tight....now try doing the silencing charm as I showed you..."
Natalie sighed and smiled confidently at Hayley.

Holly and Riley embraced for like, ten hours and then broke apart.
"WE'RE CURED!" Riley said.
"I THOUGHT WE WERE GONERS!" Holly said.
"IM A MONKEY!" George said.
They turned to look at him.
"Riiiiight," Holly and Riley said in unison, "Suuuure you are."

"Hem hem..." said Natalie, reminding them who had cured them.
She grinned.
Then she held her arms open....
Almost expectantly
For a hug...

Holly looked at Riley, who looked at George, who looked at them both.
After a minute, the three of them grinned at each other, and dived at Natalie, all hugging her.
"THANK YOU NAT!" George said, squeezing her head.
"THANK YOU NATALIE!" Riley said, squeezing her arms.
"THANK YOU NERDALIE!" Holly said, squeezing her waist.
They broke away after a moment.
"Happy now?" they asked in unison.

"Yes...very," said Natalie, smiling slightly.
She got down to studying once again.
She was happy as larry
Doing what she loved.
Happy talk keep talking happy talk

Holly laughed, which caused the boys to laugh.
"We love you nerd," Holly said messing up Natalie's hair, "Thank you for saving us."
"You were amazing back there," George agreed.
"Thanks," Riley said, as if these words had been passed to him, "No wait....?"

Natalie grinned.
"I know I was...and I think my hair is messy enough, thanks Holly," she said, though she didn't touch Holly's hair for fear of getting her eyes scratched out.
She began revising again.
Silently.

Holly grinned at this comment and laughed.
She thought Natalies whole "lets not touch Holly's hair" thing was a very good idea.
She didnt want to have to scratch her eyes out after all.
Riley yawned and walked off.
"I must go children," he said, "Im mitching this exam.....love you..."

"There are no more exams today," said Natalie, grinning, "to there isn't anything to mitch."
She grinned.
"Better luck next time Rils," she said, grinning.
She continued studying.
In silence.

"Okay Nat," Hayley said, flicking her wand, and consequesntly smashing a goblet.
"DAMNIT!" she yelled.
"Shush!" Blueberry said.
"Hayley!" Jake said, as he entered the room.
"Hi Jake," Hayley said. "I'm revising dude,"
Jake sat down, "I'll help," he said, "What's up?"

"Awww!" Riley said returning, "THATS NO FUN!"
"Yeah," Holly said eyeing Jake suspisiously, "In my experience the best way to mitch an exam....is if there is one..."
"Dont be funny..." Riley said weakly sitting down next to her and watch Jake also. "I thought we didnt like him..." he muttered to Holly.
"We dont," Holly said, "Hayley does obviously..."
Riley rolled his eyes. "Typical."

Natalie looked at Jake.
"No offence...but O don't really like you..." she said loudly.
She stared at him.
Then she got up.
"How do I know your not going to cheat on Hayley again...huh?"

Hayley bit her lip and looked at the floor.
Jake stood up, and put his face close to Natalie's. "How about this. Keep your big nose out of our business," he said.
Hayley stood up to, and faced Jake, "OI!" she said, pushing his shoulder, "Don't you dare speak to her like that!"
Jake growled. "Whatever. I'm out," he turned, and flounced out of the room.
Hayley stared, open-mouthed at the door, and turned to Natalie.
"My God," she said, "I'm so sorry he spoke to you like that," she said, "I should have never taken that jerk back,"

"If I hadnt dragged you in with me...you would have let me dive....without you....." Holly sang and then jerked upwards, "What did I miss I was asleep?"
George rolled his eyes. "Jake is being a nerd again," he said, "Dont mind him. He's just a big fat looney."
"Okay he is not fat," Holly said reasonably, "Hes one of the fittest things I have ever seen in my life to be perfectly truly honest."
"Thanks," Riley muttered sarcastically.

"No...I'm sorry I said that....I really shouldn't have..." Natalie stammered, tears tripping her.
She turned away from the group to dry her tears.
"I'm ok.." she muttered.
She sniffed and smiled.
"So...what's up in life?" she asked....everyone...

Hayley tutted, and got up. She left the room, scowling.
After a few moments, she returned, frowning.
"Nobody, not even the very, very fit Jake, makes one of my best friends cry,"
She put her arm around Natalie.
"Don't say sorry! You're right, and all you were trying to do was look out for me. He's the one who should be apologising."
Then she looked at Holly, "Admitedly. He is very fit,"

Natalie smiled sadly at Hayley.
"Yet...someday...you may marry him," she said, the vision she had had once coming back to her.
She looked at Hayley.
"It can be changed..." she sighed.
She sat down again.

"I cant believe you gave up fitty mcfit fit." Holly mumbled, but joined in the hug because, like the incredibly vain person that Holly was, she felt left out.
"Its s-s-so beautiful...." George wept.
Holly hit him over the head with a frying pan.
Where did the frying pan come from?
You will never know.

Hayley narrowed her eyes.
"Did you have a vision?" she asked Natalie, sitting down again.
Blueberry looked at Holly, "Please don't hit George with an unknown frying pan," she said.
Then she went into Hayley's pockets.
To sulk.

"Maybe..." said Natalie quietly.
She folded her arms across her chest to...you know...check two of the things she actually like about herself were still there...and had not been hexed off.
"But what's the point..." she said, unfolding them, "our RP friend has gone off RP...and...it's just that it's kind of pointless now...who's gonna save our lives...the mind connection is broken now she's gone...."
Natalie began to cry.

Hayley furrowed her brow.
"Natalie..." she said, patting her on the shoulder. "We can all save eachothers lives. We've done it before..and admitedly, we've had enough practise."
She sniffed. "I know....it's sad. I'll miss her too," she added.
Then she straightened up, "But seriously, did you have a vision? What was it?"

"She just told you bucket head!"
Holly took out the frying pan again.
"You asked for it," she said.
She hit Hayley over the head with the unknown frying pan.
Then Blueberry for good measure.

Hayley looked at Holly sharply, "No she didn't!" she said.
She turned to Natalie, "Did you?"
Blueberry also turned to Holly,
"Please refrain from hitting us with frying pans," she said, folding her little rabbit paws.
Hayley nodded.
