Hey, has anyone read these books? The second book, 'New Moon' just came out...anyway, they're REALLY good. Extremely well-written, excellent plot...and just--wow. Just really good.

Oh, my god. I finally took like all of my friend's advice and read one. I never read books in order but oh well. I read New Moon. Oh, my god. It was so good. I can't wait to read the other two!

I have read the first two of the series but not the last one as I havent been able to get it yet so Im avoiding the spoilers of this thread lol.
I love this series. I didn't get into it to begin with, but after sitting down for the second time to read the first book, I was hooked.

It is slightly annoying the way this is dragging on...I thought it'd be finished by book three, and now it's just dragging on...and did you notice how nothing really HAPPENS in the books? I mean, the major stuff,

just keep getting more confused rather than being resolved, and I am starting to get seriously annoyed.

I like at least SOME closure at the end of a book. I hope she finished everything up in Book 4...

Even though Emily Browning was listed for a while on IMDB, it's not reliable. I think the best place to trust is either Stephenie's website for news, or the Twilight Lexicon, and they know nothing more than the screenwriter and director at the moment.

Oh, and also that there are no open-casting calls.

The lexicon said something about the auditions being for actors who were part of the Screen Actor's Guild. But if they can't find a suitable person there, they'll have to do open casting, won't they? Like with Luna in the HP films..

Anyway, I think it's still in the pre-production stages so it won't be out for a while. I don't think the screenplay has even been finished yet.

I really hope they don't screw it up!

Well when you think of it, there really isn't <i>that</i> much to be put in a movie. Most of the book is written from Bella's thoughts and I don't think a narrative movie would be all that good...

I would love Emily Browning as Bella but I think she looks a bit old for the part now. Well maybe not the part in Twilight itself, but if they do New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn, I don't know... And she's blonde *sob* of course they can dye her hair but heh (can someone tell me why most actresses seem to feel the need to dye their hair blonde? seriously...)

Maybe because they want too look plastic/perfect *shrugs*Anyway on imdb it says Emily Browning (rumour) so its not confirmed and I wish they would hurry up it only takes a year to write make a harry potter movie. I also think they should do open auditions I'm sure there are millions of talented people who don't have the money or connects to get on that list.

I wonder how they're gonna find someone who truly fits for the role of Edward, or any of the Cullens/Vampires for that matter. They're all suposed to be breathtakingly beautiful. Like someone you stare at for 5 minutes XD

Heh yeah, no shortage of beautiful actors.

...and I have a very strong feeling that they ARE going to mess it up, cuz like Marie said they don't have much to work with from the books and they'll end up reinventing the whole thing probably, unless Stephenie Meyer puts her foot down, which she probably won't cuz she keep saying how she won't really be able to interfere...

It would annoy me TREMENDOUSLY if they ruined it like, say, they ruined the 'count of monte cristo.'

Stephenie Meyer said that if they casted some pop star/wannabe actress for Bella she'd throw herself down a building. And I have to agree.

And I do too know actors that look very beautiful. But the exact description in the book is inhumanly beautiful, and I have never come across that before.

I think the best way to view the movie is to completely distance it from the books. There's just no way they can ever find a perfect Edward, or a perfect Bella and Carlisle and Alice, and the list goes on and on....

So once the movie is made I'm gonna watch it and just pretend that it's just another vampire movie that just happens to feature some of the same names of characters as the book Twilight....

I guess that's the right way to look at it, but sometimes you just want a perfect adaptation of a book.

One thing I cannot understand about film adaptations of books is why they don't let the author's have more say in it. JKR with the HP films was an exception to the rule - but surely the film-makers want to make it as close to the book as possible, and what better way to do that than to get the author on board as well?

Some books that were adapted with the help of the author (eg. Helen Fielding co-wrote the screenplay for Bridget Jones) have come across very well on screen.

I think that it really has to do with how much sway the author has. When Stephenie first sold the writes I doubt she expected to become such a huge author... she probably just had a standard contract that left her out of the loop.

And I agree, you'd think that they'd want the authors input- everyone from the writers, director and actors would benefit... but I think that some directors just want to do their vision and not have to deal with the authors who consider their books like one of their children. It must just be cheaper too...

Her book The Host is coming out soon, correct?

i looooove edward and bella but i HATE JACOB because he's so annoying and always trying to steal bella from edward and edward's so sweet and caring, and loving and jacobs just someone she hung out with to cheer herself up. i know she likes him but EDWARD IS TEN TIMES BETTER THAN HIM!

P.S. My signature used to say how much i hate Jacob but it wouldn't fit so i had to take it out!
