Yule Ball

Shadow's violet eyes were replaced by four red ones, but she didn't notice. She looked around, thinking.

Holly watched her sadly.

Shadow suddenly realised that her vision was slightly red-tinted and shook her head, blinking until she got rid of them again.

Hayley walked up to see what the comotion was. Beside her was a tall second year, who presumably was Hayley's date. "This is Jake everyone. What's wrong with Shadow?"

"She's going demon...but she's fighting it," said Natalie, "she'll be ok.....I...think."

Shadow began to meditate quietly, hovering a few feet off the ground.

"Crap," said Natalie quietly to herself, "Holly...use George to call Raven...it's happening."

Shadow opened one irritated eye.
"No, it's not. I had hoped that this would never happen. I am meditating, trying to delay it." Shadow said.

"To a full demon?" asked Natalie, "but I thought I left your magic away for tonight."

Natalie was starting to panic.

"Tell me how to, and I'll call Raven for you, to be by your side," said Natalie, comforting a shivering George.

Shadow looked at Natalie.
"Blocking my magic stops it going haywire, but there is still a demonic presence in my mind."

"RAVEN!" Natalie yelled for the night to hear, "CAN'T YOU FEEL THAT YOUR SISTER'S PAIN? SHE NEEDS YOU!"

"Raven has blocked her mind to me, there is nothing we can do." Shadow said.

"What can I do then for you?" asked Natalie.

"I need to meditate." Shadow replied.

Natalie knew what to do. She remain completely silent.

"Yeah, so shush!" Holly said to Natalie.

Shadow continued to meditate, twitching from time to time, her lips moving with inaudible words.

"What happens if she turns into a FULL one?" Holly murmured to Natalie, "What'll we do then?"

((It's ok...I kinow...tea was ready))

Natalie remained silent, but gave Holly a look.

"Whats that about like?" Holly asked.

"Shhhhh!" Natalie said, smiling, even though she was terrified.

Gareth put an arm around her.

"Oh, well this isn't good," not having seen Shadow go fully demon before, Hayley wasn't sure what to expect. 'At least there's a sheild,' she thought. She pulled her cloak around her, as the evening air was chilling. Jake seemed to notice and rubbed her shoulder, trying to warm her up. Hayley smiled and leant against him. "Thanks," she whispered.

"Aww...thats so sweet," said Natalie.

Hayley sniggered, which under the circumstances was quite strange, and quickly shut up when she remebered where she was and what was happening.

Shadow stopped meditating, but still hovered in the air, legs crossed in a lotus position. She rubbed her temples.

Hayley shivered, unsure what would happen next. Her grasp on Jake's hand tightened.

Shadow frowned, noting Hayley's action.
"I prefer not to have an audience normally." Shadow said.

Hayley put her head down, and said faintly, "Sorry, I'm just....panicking, and I don't know what to do. Sorry,"

"Neither do I." Shadow said softly.

"Oh dear God...are you serious Shadow?" Natalie said, panicking.

Shadow nodded.
"Never been more serious."

Hayley looked around and saw faintly the glimmer of the Great Hall, people were obviously still at the Yule Ball. Not knowing what to say, Hayley was silent.

Shadow closed her eyes again.

"Oh damnastion...shall I get a teacher?" Natalie asked, "or Madam Pomfrey?"

Shadow shook her head.
"I need Raven, or some one from my dimension." She said.

((thanks, ive been waiting on becoming a second year for a while lol))

Hayley shuffled her feet, and again, stayed silent.

Raven came running up to them.
"What's going on?!" She said.

Hayley sighed with relief, as she knew now Raven would be able to do something. Still she was nervous, and Jake held her even tighter.

Raven glanced round everyone.
"I asked, what is going on?!"

"Oh thank the lord...Raven...Shadow's just told me she morphing...but she's fighting it...she needs help." said Natalie hurriedly.

"I don't really know!" replied Hayley in a shaky voice, "I think she's becoming...full demon or something," she shrugged, not knowing what else to say.

"Oh... by the hatred of Arias!" Raven muttered.

"What can we do?" Natalie asked.

Raven rubbed her temples.
"There isn't a lot."

"What's gonna happen?" asked Hayley.

"So we just have to...watch?" said Natalie.

"Shadow has always had more of a demonic presence in her mind, thanks to a prophecy binding us to our father. Because of that, she was a lot more prone to her demonic side attacking her human side, fighting for total dominance. This is the beginning... of the end." Raven said softly.

"Will we still be able to be her friends?" Natalie asked desperately, "tell me the truth." she looked Raven in the eye.

Raven looked at Natalie.
"I don't know."

"But Shadow's like our...our...best friend," Natalie said, tears tripping her words.
