Thoughts and Opinions Thread

First topic message reminder :

This is the thread where members can post their graphics creations for other people to see, and for thoughts and opinions to be given. Consider it a sort of 'showing off' thread, if you like, but also a place where you can receive constructive criticism for aspects of your graphic making.

Here's my latest graphic, just a simple colourisation, which I'm planning to put on the up for grabs section of my graphics site. My biggest problem with it though is, like always, the text. I'm not sure if it overpowers the image.

I think the top one looks REALLY good, for just starting out! However, the bttom one is a little much to lok at. Mabey try ereasing the text where the pictures are, or somthing... its just a bit mch. other than that, your doing fine for just starting!

I agree with Katherine, on the bottom one

One thing you can change for the top blend is making the tops of the band members' heads opaque instead of fading into the background. It would kind of tidy it up a bit, as you can see the words through the people and it distracts a little bit?

But good job, Kaylee

just finished this. spent about 2-3 hour on it.

hmm maybe (this is just an idea) find a way to lessen the saturation of around the girl so she pops out a bit....maybe do a slight gaussian blur behind her and sharpen her up a bit. The reason I suggest thi is cause I think it would take minumize that dizzing effect lol. I like it though

I love it! I love the swoosh effect, but I can never do that cos my PSP is really old

I agree with Cat, and also, the text looks a little blurry - could you perhaps unblur it to make it stand out more?

To force myself to be motivated, I made a banner for a fanfic that's in my head. So now that I'm showing it to you all, I absolutely HAVE to write it! Isn't that a great idea?

The font I used is called "karabinE." It's cool because lower-case letters look normal, but upper-case letters are backwards!

Thanks! A couple of Twilight themed graphics. I made the first one, but then wasn't sure if it was any good, so I had another go. Now I don't know which one I like better.

The first one is so pretttty! all bright andcool, but I still dont really think the writting looks right with the white background. Seems to make it look uneven. the text that is

and the second one is wow, the hair blending toghether is done really well! Even if cedward does look a bit iffy (talking about the actual pic obv)

The first's two people on the left are weirdly blended into the background... I don't know haha. The left side of Edward/Robert's head is kind of... chippy... if that makes sense

But I like the second one a lot

Yeah, the blending is kind of jaggedy on the people in the first one. It was giving me grief to try and sort it, so I gave up and hoped no one would notice

Any thoughts on how to make them better?

Something I've learned about text placement: never use more than two fonts on a graphic, as it looks messy.

Kaylee, for the text on yours, I'd recommend using a swirly font for the E and C and J and B of their names, and using a plainer font for the rest of the name.

Then, you could centralise the "fire and ice" in the swirly font in the middle.

Cookie, I love the JT blendy thing, the banner is great as well, though I'd say move the "sticks and" along to the left a bit.

I just got creative again this afternoon and made four banners lol

Ooh, I love the second one, Cat. Though, I would suggest erasing the line texture where it crosses the people's faces. As for text...I usually just go with a random song lyric

The first one is great too, though there's something not right about the font...perhaps something a little more understated?

And from those two, I do prefer the 2nd one. But they're only like...marginally different. I like them both.
