Ralph smiled and than said " You would you like to dance?"

Shadow watched the goings on quietly.

Zeke re-joined Eliza and they watched everyone else.

Shadow stood up, walking away to the dance floor.

Eliza sat down, and grabbed a cup which filled with tea at her request.

Holly entered, spotted Eliza and sat next to her, staring across the floor.
"Hiya," she said, "Any banter? You look lovely by the way,"

Natalie, who was surprise Holly had not noticed her, walked over.

"Did you not recognise me?" asked Natalie, doing a little twirl.

Holly stared at her.
"You look great too NatNerd!" she said, "AWesomeness!"

Hayley enetered the Great Hall, wearing a long black gown. She twiddled her hair and looked for Holly. She saw her, and walked over. "You look great. You too Nat. So," she nudged Holly. "Wanna be my date?" smiling she said, "Ojay!"

"No thanks," Holly said quickly, missing the sarcasm, "You look nice too dude, thanks,"
Holly fingered her own red and black dress.
"I feel all exposed," she said.

"Don't feel like that," said Natalie, "look...if it makes you feel better, at least you don't look like that girl over there," Natalie pointed at a girl wearing a brown dress and flip-flops.

Shadow walked back over to the group.
"Hello everyone!" She said, smiling.

"Hiya Shad," she said, "You look lovely!"

"Thanks, you too." Shadow replied.

"Hiya Shadow," said Natalie...Shadow looked lovely tonight...Jamie eat your heart out.

"Did you guys come with anyone tonight?" Shadow asked.

"Thanks," Holly said, "Um. Yeah kinda. You here with Jamie?"

"No....I got stood up," said Natalie quietly.

Shadow nodded to Holly and then turned to Natalie.
"Sorry to hear that..."

Holly bit her lip.
"Sorry NatNerd," she said, "Id offer you mine but....that would be weird....That guy that stood you up is a jerk...,"

"Yeah...but I heard from someone that he ditched me to go with Michelle Conner's...and she looks really pretty tonight...it's not fair...I wanted to show everyone that Nerdie girls can get date's too," said Natalie sadly.

Holly bit her lip again, unsure what to say.
"Well, dont fret on that, im sure theres a lot of guys here who got stood up too, just go look for one of them!"

"I don't want to seem desperate," said Natalie.

Holly raised one eyebrow giving her, her look.
"Riiiight,"

"I'm sure that some one would be very glad to have you as their date." Shadow assured her.

"Yeah," Holly agreed seriously, "Look- hot guy! Go talk Nat, NOW!"

Natalie walked up to the guy.

"Um...hi...I'm Natalie," she said awkwardly.
"Gareth...Gareth Peter's," said the boy.

Holly watched the couple talk.
"Ive done it again," she said to Shadow.

"You can be MY date, if you want NatNerd," joked Hayley, "Ojay, but the dude who stood you up- loser. At least you got asked. I didn't. Who cares. I'm a lone ranger," she laughed. "Think I'll get some pumkin juice," and she floated off into the crowd.

"Have fun?" Holly called after her.

"Done what?" Shadow asked.

Natalie was too busy getting to know Gareth to here Hayley.

"I play the clarinet," said Gareth.

"Really...I play bassoon...maybe we could do a duet sometime. So what house are you in." asked Natalie.

"Gryffindor...have you never seen me in the common room?" asked Gareth.

Natalie went very red.

"Hold on...your that girl...that girl who is always sitting at the table behind all those books...doing homework, aren't you?" Gareth asked.

Natalie went redder and suddenly found her thumbs very interesting.

"Its ok...I don't judge you," said Gareth.

Natalie beamed.

Shadow watched this.
"Well, some one's gonna go back to the common room very happy then..."

Natalie looked at Gareth, not really consentrating on what he was saying because he was so hot.

"And they might not go alone," Holly muttered grinning.

Natalie heard this and smiled.

Holly grinned, happy she had done it again....with the help of Shadow.

"So..would you...um...dance with me," asked Gareth as a slow song came on.

"Yes, I'd love to," said Natalie, smiling.

She and Gareth made their way onto the dance floor. This was the first time Natalie had ever danced with a boy, so she felt awkward.

"Here...let me," said Gareth, smiling at Natalie's awkwardness and he put his hands on her waist. Natalie put her arms around his neck.

As they danced, they continued talking.

"So, what year are you in?" asked Natalie.

"I'm a fifth year," said Gareth, "I know your in third year...what extra subjects do you take?"

"Oh...just Arithmacy, Muggle-Studies, Ancient Runes, Divination and Care of Magical Creatures...I have to use I time turner." said Natalie, thinking that she sounded dorkish.

"See, that where your smarter than me...I'll be doing OWL's this year...but I only do three additional subjects; Arithmacy, Ancient Runes and Muggle-Studies." said Gareth.

Natalie smiled. She had never been referred to as smart rather than dorky by a boy before.

Holly grinned excitedly, clutching her pop corn and slushie.
"They might kiss!" George said, happy for Natalie.
Holly stared at him.
"What?" he asked defensively.

"You're really cool," said Gareth, "do you play quidditch at all...well you would...your a new chaser on the team, and might I say your the best."

"Thank-you....your the keeper..aren't you?" said Natalie.

"Yeah, but in tryouts you put five goals past me," said Gareth, "but I think I was distracted by your grace and beauty."

Natalie's heart skipped a beat. He thought she was beautiful.

"You think I'm beautiful?" she asked.

"I really do." said Gareth.

Natalie smiled and leaned into Gareth, who also leaned in, and they kissed, still dancing. When the kiss was over, Natalie layed her head on Gareth's shoulder as they continued dancing.

"EW!" Holly and George yelled i unison, getting several sharp looks from passers by.
"Sorry," Holly said quickly, and looked away, feeling ill.

Natalie looked round and smiled.

"That's just my best friend Holly and her talking monkey playing around," said Natalie.

"That was the monkey that said 'hi' to me earlier...I just thought the girl was a really good ventriliquist." Gareth laughed.

Natalie giggled.

Holly snorted, having heard the goings on.
"Pass the punch darlin," Holly said to George.

The song ended, and Natalie and Gareth walked back over.

"Would you like a drink," Gareth asked Natalie.

"Yes please," said Natalie, thinking what a gentleman Gareth was, and a dang good kisser too...but then again...woodwind players usually are.

George read Natalies thoughts and sent them to Holly.
Holly snorted again, but did not pass judgement.
"So....that was interesting,"

"Man...I really need to learn Occlumency," Natalie whispered to Holly with a smile, "thats personal George."
