10 years later. Shadow and Jamies house.

Jamie ran down the stairs in a hurry, pulling on his sweater.
"hey..." he said to the person sitting on the stool in the kitchen...

Violet nodded and started picking up the glass

"Violet, I'm not sure how to tell you this, but I know where Allyssa is..." Shaeman said.

Violet looked at him. "You cant know. That mudblood tok her from me." Violet said.

Shaeman sighed.
"The Senate found her, and Raven knew who she was so she hid her. I watched secretly through her eyes."

"And...and you wait to tell me now. I spent years looking for her!" Violet yelled. "Every day I was told she was dead or gone from the country! And you knew where she was!" Violet yelled. "How long have you known?" She snarled.

"A month or two ago. I was trying t opluck up the courage to come and see you again." Shaeman said.

"Yea right." Violet said, throwing the stuff in the sink.

Shaeman sighed.
"I know where she is right now, and I know how we can get her back."

"We? There is no we in I?" Violet said.

"Look, I need Shadow's help because she's the only one that can get into the herd, you're hermother. She'll need you more than anyone." Shaeman explained.

Violet nodded.

"Come on then, we can get her back now." Shaeman said, taking Violet's hand. Shadow walked in, rubbing her eyes. Merlas poked her head in the window.

Violet nodded, and looked at Shadow.

"I guess he finally got round to telling you." Shadow said. "He told me, but asked me not to tell. I'll go and get ready." Shadow walked up the stairs, changing into her usual black trousers and top, clipping a cloak over it and tying her hair in a tight plait.

"She knew?" Violet asked. "She knew about where my own daughter was before I did?" Violet asked, getting mad again.

Shadow walked downstairs.
"Calm down Violet, now I need to do some work on Shaeman before we can go."

Violet nodded and walked into the living room.

Shaeman looked at Shadow and they both walked outside. Shaeman morphed into a pegasus and stood still. Shadow called Merlas over and set to work with her appearence changing magic, turning Shaeman into an exact replica of Merlas. Once she had done, she called Violet.

Violet head Shadow call her and walked outside. "Where did he go?" She asked.

"Can you tell me which one is Shaeman?" Shadow asked.

Violet looked at them both. "No, but I have the feeling I;m going to get stuck with him anyway." She said.

Shadow shook her head.
"No, Shaeman's the only one apart from Raven that knows which horse we're looking for, and Merlas is the horse I use to cut a yearling from the herd, so I needed to cast an illusion around Shaeman to make others think that it was Merlas. You're taking one of the youngsters that I'm training."

Violet nodded and said nothing.

Shadow rummaged in a few boxes by the doorway and found a foal halter before taking two saddles and bridles. She caught a calm looking gelding in the field next to the garden and tacked him up, handing the reins to Violet before doing the same to Shaeman. She mounted, thinking about how odd it was to be on her brother's back. She attached a lead rein to the gelding and waited for Violet, strapping the foal halter to her saddle.

"I dont know how to ride these things." She said.

"Hence the lead rein." Shadow said. "I'm going to get your horse to land a kilometer or so before we reach the herd, and I'll go and get Allyssa. Once I've got her, I'll fly back, and you'll have to take charge of her from there, unless you want to wait here."

"I want to help, but if I dont know what to do. There's no need for me to get in the way." Violet mumbled.

Shadow nodded.
"Ok, I'll go, stay here and get things ready. She won't be used to flying long distances, and will be very tired." She said before Shaeman took off, cantering into the air.

Violet nodded and went inside. Violet cleaned up the house and put some covers on the couch. "Saken?" She asked, knokcking on the door. "You in there?" She asked

Saken had her headphones on, listening to music, ignoring Violet.

Shaeman landed softly on the grass in a field before trotting over to the keeper. Shadow showed her identity card, and was waved on.
Ok, Shaeman, which one is it? Shadow asked cantering towards the herd.
The black one, the black one! You're going for the grey!
It's not easy to steer you if you keep pulling in the opposite direction!
She's that black one that looks like black beauty!
I'm trying, you're going to wrong way!
OK!
Go left, turn a tight circle around her and drive her out of the herd.

The pair cut Allyssa out of the herd and Shadow managed to halter her before flying back to the house. They landed in the garden, Shaeman out of breath and the filly next to them trembling and panting. Shadow immediately dismounted and put a blanket over her, guiding her inside. The little filly's back came up to Shadow's waist, and Shadow had to half support her.

Violet walked into the room and pulled the head phones off her head. "Listen here, I dont like the way you are treating me. I"m older then you and desevre some kind of respect. Now you come down stairs because there is some stuff your aunt needs to tell you when she gets back." Violet said and walked out of the room and back down stairs.

"Violet!" Shadow called up the stairs. She took the halter off the filly and removed the disguise spell, showing a trembling, exhausted little girl.

Violet ran down the stairs and looked at her. "Oh my God." She whispered, pulling the little girl on the the couch. "Did anything bad happen?" She asked. "Where's Shaeman?" She asked.

"He's outside. Allyssa reacted very badly to the flight back. She's not old enough to be able to hold it. I wanted to get her to you before I went you to deal with Shaeman because he's not in a bad state." Shadow said, finding some more blankets and putting them over Allyssa.

"Ok." Violet nodded, holding Alyssa in her lap. "Poor child." She whisperd, wrapping more covers around her.

"Herd living is hard." Shadow said before going outside, untacking and changing Shaeman back to his usual self.
"Remind me not to let you take my to cut a foal out again." He groaned.

Violet looked down at the littel girl. "Where am I?" She whispered. "Shh." Violet said, "you need to sleep." She said and the Alyssa nodded.

Shadow and Shaeman walked back in, Shadow looking very tired all of a sudden. They sat down, Shaeman on alert, and Shadow curling up.

"Maybe you need sleep to Shadow." Violet whispered. "Just go to sleep. I can watch out for Jamie." She said.

Shadow nodded, closing her eyes. Shaeman moved to sit next to Violet. He stroked Allyssa's hair gently.

"She beautiful." Violet whisperd, looking at Alyssa.

"I know." Shaeman replied. He stood up, going through to the kitchen and making up a hot chocolate for when she woke up.

Violet stood up slowly and sat her on the couch, putting her covers around her. Violet walked into the kitchen. "I'm sorry." She whispered.

"As am I. <i should have told you exactly what had been going on." Shaeman said.

Violet walked over to him and hugged him. "I should havent blmaed you. It wasnt your fault." She said.

Shaeman hugged her back.
"I shouldn't have gotten angry or hid anything from you. I'm sorry."

Violet nodded. Stepping on her tip toes, she kissed him on the cheek.

Shaeman smiled, kissing her back before going outside. He morphed again and used his hooves to dig up a corner of the garden, searching for something he had buried years ago.

Violet walked back into the living room, putting a cover on Shadow. Picking up Alyssa, she walked up stairs. "Look Saken, I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure you a have a soft bed, can I lay her in it?" She asked.

Saken grumbled but collected a few things and walked out of the room.

Shaeman found what he was looking for and gently took the delicate chain in his teeth before flying round to the back of the house, and tapping on the window to Saken's room with his nose.
