Holly and Natalie's study den

First topic message reminder :

Natalie stood outside the portrait of the moaning moonstone witch with a forlorned expression on her face. She kept glancing at her watch. She was waiting on her friend Holly, one of her Gryffindor friends.

"Where is she?" Natalie exclaimed impatiently.

"He's not that bad." Shadow assured.

Holly nodded, unsure of what to say next.
"So, you like....stuff?"

Shadow frowned slightly.
"What do you mean?"

"I dont know," Holly said thoughtfully, "Its like what I say when i cant think of anything else to say. Like my quirk....its weird i know,"

"When you're half-demon, you get 'quirks' that are a lot worse." Shadow said.

Holly nodded to show she understood, and sympathised.
"Do you like being half demon?" she asked.

Shadow raised an eyebrow.
"Let me see... Not allowed to feel emotion, I've got a demon living in my mind along with my personified emotions, I'm constantly fighting my other side... What do you think?!" She snapped before realising what she had said.
"I apologise."

"Oh." Holly said "Well I guess I never thought about it like that....I apologise too....must be hard for you huh?"

Shadow turned her head away.
"Not the easiest thing in the world, no. It's not so much the being a half breed, it's everyone else's reaction..."

"People assume bad stuff?" Holly guessed, and then assured her, "Dont listen to people like that though. They arent worth the trouble,"

"Demons are evil creatures bent on death and destruction, and they consider us to be the same way. The last half demon committed suicide five hundred years ago, until my mother was tricked by a demon, resulting in Raven and myself." Shadow explained.

Holly nodded through the story.
"But everyone in Hogwarts must know you and Raven are good people....right,"

"Er... truthfully? No." Shadow said.

"Oh." Holly said.
She thought for a moment.
"THen they clearly, have not met you,"

Shadow shrugged.
"They tend to keep their distance."

"Mmmm.....same with me....but I like being a lone ranger....or I did...then I found people I liked,"

"You had the choice, but I'm glad that there are some people who don't bear a grudge against some one's heritage." Shadow said.

"but really it makes not difference to us, half-demons or human, we have friends that care for us, look at us now, were all friends!" Jamie butted in

Shadow smiled slightly.
"That is true."

"Absolutely," Holly agreed, "Friends we are,"

Shadow bowed her head in agreement.

"but you see holly, we have friends that are too friendly! you know the ones you want to through into another dimension... you know the ones im talking aboutr shad?" Jamie asked her playfully

"Yes... unfortunately." Shadow said softly.

Holly glanced from one to the other, wandering what on earth (or somewhere else) was being talked about.

Shadow sensed Holly's confusion and began to explain (After banging her head off something)
"There are some who make fun of us, and we tend to put up with them until a certain point where we send them to another dimension for a spell."

Holly had grabbed the back of Shadow's cloak a split second before the head banging, George whispering in her ear about what was about to happen, and listened before grinning.
"You kids!" she said, even though everyone concerned was older than her, "Now that is high class,"

Shadow sighed as Holly stopped her, once again, from hitting her head off something, rubbing the circular scar around her eye.

Holly glanced thoughtfully at her.
"Do I want to know how you got that?" she asked, indicating her eye and the scar.

"Maybe, maybe not." Shadow replied.

Holly nodded, and decided to change the subject.
"So, where did everyone grow up? How was life like before Hogwarts?"

"In Synarin until I was 7." Shadow responded.

Jamie raised an eyebrow

"what about you holly?"

"Ooooh in Ireland till I was eleven, then an Orphange in.....somewhere in Wales....then a foster home iiiiiin Glasgow. Then here. And you Jamie?"

"Erica, well the better parts of my life were spent there" Jamie shrugged
"the rest is history.."

Holly nodded.
"Any siblings?" she asked him.

"two, girls" he said looking sick,

"i talk to them sometimes via my mind"

"I sympathise." Shadow said. "Mine has taken to following me around." She gestured towards Raven, who had fallen asleep.

Holly grinned at the sleeping figure.
"Shall we draw on her face? I did that on a plane with my friend once-" Holly stopped, wandering if the other two knew what a plane was.

"Of course we know!" Shadow said and banged her head again.

"really, i would prefere them to be here, but really they dont want to be... there choice!" he shrugged

"I'd prefer it if mine wasn't here." Shadow said quietly.

"Oh. Sorry," Holly said quickly about her earlier mistake which had perhaps insulted her friends, "Well at least you two have siblings. All I have is a George!"
George gave her a look.
"No offence...but youre like....a monkey...,"

"Some people are more than they appear." Shadow pointed out.

"That is very true," Holly agreed, studying George, who had picked up a book sitting on a near by table, and was now reading with rapt attention, "And George is smarter than me,"
"Thanks," he muttered, not taking his eyes off the page.

"Its so totally true what Jamie said earlier....it doesn't matter if we are male or female, half-dwmon or human...different houses.... whatever....you all will still be my friends, and I'll protect you, no matter what," said Natalie.

"Same here. I may not have many friends, but those who wrong them tend to wish that they never did." Shadow said.

Natalie smiled.

"It's like...science...only....nothing like science," she said, making no sense.

Shadow raised an eyebrow questioningly.

Jamie looked at Natalie,
"that made sense but it didn't!" Jamie laughed

"Exactly," said Natalie.
